When I was six, my father died in a motorcycle accident. My mother objected to getting a motorcycle license. However, I couldn't give up, and when I became an adult, I got my long-cherished motorcycle license, and I'm still a biker for more than 40 years. A year ago, at 35 years old, I was diagnosed with a degenerative bone disease in my right ankle. I had to give up on all of my outdoor hobbies, as they were far too brutal on my ankle bone. While recalibrating my life, I remembered a guy on a bike I spoke with ten years ago who had the same disease I have, but his had advanced to amputation. I had never ridden a motorcycle, but I realized that was the perfect redirect for jujitsu, skating, snowboarding, running, and racquetball. I bought a Ninja 650 before I even learned to ride it. But learn I did, and within six months of getting my motorcycle license I went on a 3000 mile ride through Utah, Colorado, Arizona, Nevada, and Wyoming. It was a depression miracle cure. My only regret is not getting a bike 15 years ago. If any of you are thinking "i want to do this, but I don't have the X (money, time, knowledge, etc), just do it. Buy an older japanese bike, take an MSF class, buy beginner gear, (it'll be about 500 bucks total), and go places.
@@robertdivany1627 it was just food and gas. I didn't go around the world, as I live in the US. The whole trip cost about 800 bucks. Took about 10 days.

I'm an Englishman and in a much smaller way I was doing this back in the 90's going around England, Wales and Scotland. Unfortunately then we didn't have GoPro, satnav or mobile phones, just the bike, a tent, a sleeping bag and a map. Watching these has bought it all flooding back and I feel like i really need/want another road trip! Anxiety of the unknown held me back for so long but once under way I found it very easy to do, just did week-long trips and made it up as I went along. Good day to you! I am HONDA Cross Cub senior rider from Japan. Enjoying touring , camping and video editing. It is great adventure video ! So nice ! Have a nice day my friend !!
I'm from Argentina. In 1979 I went to Chicago to visit my uncles and cousins. I bought there a Suzuki GS 425N and made two trips. One to the west, Colorado, and the other to the east, New Hampshire near the Canadian border. Including turnarounds the total mileage was over 6500. Jake, your videos make me remember those wonderful times I spent in the U.S. We both share that feeling of riding alone into and endless horizon.
Hi Jake ! This is Satya from India. I watched this 3 part video 3 years ago and was mesmerized by it. There is something in the way you have put it together that viewers are able to relate it to their own journeys. Here I am again watching it after 3 years and enjoying it as much as I did the first time. All i have to say is keep up the good work and post more content like this which are such a joy and happiness to watch. Peace out ✌️. ciao.
Taking a ride helps tremendously with stress, anxiety, and depression. There's something about just you, your motorcycle, and the open road that cleanses the mind.
In 2017 I did a solo motorcycle trip from my home in Alberta down to LA and back in a big loop. So watching this has been amazing since I wasn't able to capture these roads in this way. I completely understand the joy of meeting strangers and the hope of a gas station. I went during a heatwave so riding through Arizona and the other desert states was insane for this Canadian girl. Great videos, thanks for taking the time to document and share! Love the soundtrack too.
As in Episode 1, great to be along on the ride from your point of view. I really think Triumph needs to buy these vids from you and show them on their site, and at their corporate meetings. What you are doing IS the dream of most riders, and you're doing it on their bike. Sadly much of the ride in this video is charred and smoky landscape now. You are so lucky you did this when you did.
My heart years for a long journey, yet I keeping having self doubts, and overthinking the entire ordeal. I have the opportunity, the means, and the time for this. The only one holding me back is me. Your video moved me more than I can say. Stop overthinking and just ride on. Good or bad, not doing it will be the biggest regret.
I have seen some comments here saying they have restarted riding after 30, 40yrs and are regretting why did they have ever stopped. Dont be one of those. all the best buddy👍
Hey Man. I'm really enjoying these videos! The music has a great feel. I'm listening in the background while I work. I'll have to save these and watch them later. God bless.
In 1973 I road a Suzuki 500 2 stroke 4000 miles across the U.S. and Canada and loved it. Your video captures the spirit of that fantastic ride. I still ride today but now on a 1200GS however the trips are shorter. What a fantastic job on this video, keep going my friend.
In '73 a buddy of mine and I did much the same thing. We may have passed each other at some point. Went West from Ark. rode around the Western states for a couple of months, down to Mexico, back North along the W. coast to Canada to East coats. Down the East coat to home. Changed my life and I hope you were one of the guys we waved at.
Just watching this straight after the first one, it feels like I'm riding along with you! I used to do similar to this years ago, back in the 90's, I'm English so had to settle for England, Wales and Scotland but I still got to see far more of my country than most British ever do. It's an exhilaration that cannot be explained to someone who doesn't ride. Thanks for sharing, I think your'e influencing many people to think of doing their own trips!

Wonderful just wonderful. If you've never ridden a motorcycle you can't imagine the feeling of the wind and sun on your face and the mental gratification of all that you hear, see and feel the road beneath your feet. Ah the memories. Thanks, Jake.
When I made that run in 2001, I remember well that some the smaller gas stations closed awfully early sometimes...which ended up causing me some pretty good heartburn at times. Coast in on fumes to find a closed sign and no card readers on non-lit pumps at night time. I ended up sleeping in the rain, in what I was fairly sure was someone's yard. So suffice it to say...no fire that night. Great video!
You nailed it..the music, the editing, the visual story. I too ride, for 46 years now, and it is my essence of my being. Thank you for sharing your visions with us.
I rode across the country and back on a BMW touring bike and it was pretty grueling I can't imagine doing it on your Bonneville. It's a heck of journey on a bike riding solo. It's thrilling, lonely, fun, scary, beautiful. The weather can be rentless and brutal or it can be lovely. But as you well know it's an experience that you will never forget. Well done documenting.
Jake, what an incredible journey; physically, mentally and spiritually. I've been riding motorcycles for 25 years. I am thankful to have seen much of this country. In 2000, I made a life changing decision and hopped on a bicycle and rode from Seattle to Washington, DC. There are not enough words to describe the feelings and thoughts one has during a trek like ones we've had. Thank you for such great editing and musical choices. I definitely got lost in the moment and found myself daydreaming about traveling the country again. Cheers.
Wow...well done, Sir! I'm with you all along the way. You've done a stellar job with the photography, the music and the sparse narrative. Thank you. Time for me to get in the saddle and back to some open-road therapy.
The Lone Bellow, good accompaniment to this vid. I’m real Brooklyn, born and bred. Eastern Long Island is my home, but my heart is in Cali, Avenue of the Giants.
This little moto film has a wonderful feeling to it. I've been a long-distance solo motorcyclist for 25 years so I can totally relate. When you ride you have a feeling of being totally alive in the moment. And yep, it can be zen-like at times. But a moto trip is just like life, it has its high points and its low points. And it can be damn tough and tiring at times, and this when you have to slow down or you'll burn out. When you finally roll back into your hometown, there's a real feeling of accomplishment and memories made. We all know this is a somewhat risky endeavor, so learn to ride well and spend some bucks on good protective clothing/gear (make sure it's not too hot either!). Also, situational awareness needs to become a natural response as soon you mount a bike. Something that combat vets understand better than me. I know its saved my life on two occasions. I approach motorcycling like I do scuba diving or downhill mountain biking, as in full-on focus. Avoid city traffic as much as possible and you substantially reduce your risks. I never ride in my hometown of Denver, just too chaotic. Long-distance riding is a significant part of my life that makes me grateful to be alive. I can hear the road calling me now. Cheers.
Thats the way to live your dreams Jake, you will give so many people what it feels like to just do what they love on two wheels It moves the soul and clears the mind in these trying times. Loved the video, thanks for sharing it. I have been riding 35 years still love it! Happy New Year from Florida.
Wow, thank you for sharing your journey with us. At 73, I haven't ridden much since selling my '08 HD Fatboy in 2014. It was set up for touring and motocamping. Prior to that I found an '81 Yamaha 850 Midnight Special in nice condition at a garage sale for $1000 and all that was needed were new tires and a brake job. Nelson Riggs bags including a tank bag similar to yours (magnetic) completed the bike for touring. Your journey reminded me of mine as I toured and camped from Phoenix, to the Grand Canyon, to Moab, to Durango, through New Mexico and back home, some 4000+ miles later. I overland camp in my Jeep but as one of the commenters wrote, "Four wheels move the body. Two wheels move the soul."
It always puts me in awe everytime he shares a glimpse of those beautiful sceneries. Makes me wonder about some other natural sites that the U.S has to offer. Sharing love from the Philippines 🇵🇭

The word awesome gets used alot these days but your journey deserves the word awesome. Thank you for sharing this lovely adventure.
The man, the machine and the open road. Great film man, can’t wait to experience this myself one day.
Music.......... Man.....
Explains everything about a man........ ❤️😍
Cheers.
As an indian, loved the new songs discovered from your videos. Thank you So much!
this is just fantastic, travelling the us like that is my dream
Yes you right :D greetings from Germany

Back to you Buddy 😉
agreed
Jawohl Kamerad!
Feel like freedom. I hope before i die one day ill be able to visit the USA and see these kind of things.
You gave me my daily dose of peace and dream. Thanks bro.
Jake - nailed it again. Your music selection is perfect! Blessed and a blessing
Great trip and well done videos to great music! Keep up the great work!
Thank you!!
This planet is such a rad place to live on. What a privilege. Thank you for this reminder.
Beautiful journey. Thank you for sharing this with us. 🙏😊
Cheers.
Some of the best motorcycling videos I've seen.
Thats the way to live your dreams Jake, you will give so many people what it feels like to just do what they love on two wheels It moves the soul and clears the mind in these trying times. Loved the video, thanks for sharing it. I have been riding 35 years still love it! Happy New Year from Florida.
Thanks so much JP! Ride safe out there
Really awesome. Great music and editing.
Bonnie rider from New Zealand...Wow, America...what a spectacular country! This video is what life is all about...:)
First video with more than 200 likes and no dislikes I've ever seen. did the pacific highway a few times. Incredible riding out there.
Love your taste in music. I can imagine these tunes playing as the miles roll on by. Sweet!
Amazing journey Jake! I found your story intriguing, fun and inspiring. Thank you for sharing.
Carlos Martinez thanks Carlos!
It always puts me in awe everytime he shares a glimpse of those beautiful sceneries. Makes me wonder about some other natural sites that the U.S has to offer. Sharing love from the Philippines 🇵🇭
Just finished binge-watching your adventures.
Brilliant filming of the scenery and fantastic music, both of which are new to me.
Many thanks and best wishes for your future travels 👍👍👍
Glad you made a return video/s. Love bikes. Love journeys. Love Triumphs. Love what you did here.
I love how people who ride, used to ride or want to ride just come up and say Hi when I’m out on my Bonneville loaded up for a long ride. There are a lot of friendly, nice people out there.
Gotta say watching your trip made my day. I enjoyed every minute of it start to finish. Keep on doing what you do and keep sharing :-)
Greetings from Hamburg Germany

Thank goodness for you Jake! See you out there some day!
Hey Jake, great video
just got back from a tour in the european alps(germany, austria, switzerland and Italy)- watching your viedeo makes me wanna pack my stuff an hop on the bike. Forget about rain, longing for the next gas station etc. ,enjoy what makes the trip special and learn your lessons in order to have an even better trip next time . We can't travel all the roads but we should try anyways... Keep on riding! Chris from germany
That stretch coming down into Santa Barbara is amazing but if you take the dirt road sections....beautiful ride!!!

ありがとうarigato!
Thanks for not trying to put the commentary and make a Travel Vlog! This kind of experience can only be felt and dreamed of. Thanks for inspiring. Thumbs up from India.
Outstanding job on this video. The music also fits the video content. What's also great is that it's focused on the trip, scenery and experience and not the rider. Great job
My bucket list is getting longer. AWESOME!
Great music choices. I hope you enjoyed this trip, I enjoyed following along.
Just found your channel and subscribed! I love your choices of music, really fits the subject well. I started riding about 40+ years ago and haven't stopped yet! I will be 62 this year here in Aberdeen, Washington and weather permitting will continue to ride my trusty R1200RT👍😀🇺🇸🔥
In 2015 I sold my bike and moved to WA. I had a quadruple bypass in January and in April I bought a KLR 650 ADV. I want to do the same trip as you next year. Thank you for the inspirational video, you did an amazing job!
