What you say about "smoothing it" reminded me of being deployed overseas and how it was living out of a rucksack or a humvee, moving from place to place and living in the open or in half built (or bombed) structures.... and how really nice it was when we were able to make a morning coffee or enjoy a meal or make a warm comfy hooch. It's amazing how a morning, MRE-inspired cappuccino -- i.e. canteen water, two hot chocolates, two sugars, two non-dairy creamers and two folgers instant coffee packs -- heated over a fire or a hiker's stove would make all the previous discomfort bearable. No adventure worth having is comfortable all the time... but if it can be some of the time.... count me in.
Keep the camping and cooking segments going; I’ve been doing this for 66 years and enjoy watching others enjoying the same. After all those years, I still find new fresh ideas . Thank you.
That BMW you have is one of the best bikes for traveling on long trips ever made,.... Had a BMW R90S bought brand new in 1975,.. Sold it 6 years later had sellers remorse for several months,.. Had 189,000 miles on it From Vancouver BC to Key West Fl. Never gave me any trouble.
This is what the freedoms of motorcycling is all about. I've been aware of the work from Sterling Noren for a few years now. It never disappoints! From time to time, I've looked at searches for other motorcycle touring vloggers, but "1900 miles in one day" (On the Interstate Highway) just doesn't do it for me. You'd see more scenery, sitting on the bus! Please keep doing what you are doing Sterling, you are an inspiration to those of us who actually want to see what your countryside is all about.
I too have watched it couple of enjoyable times - better each time and it's 4 years on. Thanks Sterling and I am now enjoying your series on the 125 Honda on the trails of Arizona.
Cool man, love your honesty, I’m 56 and have done many camping adventures, a pick up truck and simple high top aluminum camper to a van camper to a 37 foot motor home ( that sucked) and was a lesson learned, simple is better by far and now I just ordered a Royal Enfield Himalayan adventure bike and really can’t wait to get out there because a motorcycle takes you to almost unlimited places where a motor home or truck camper or van camper can’t take you, I’ve been worried a little about my age and aches and pains and stiff back etc but hey we only live the life we choose, thanks for your video and your positive words.
I've purchased every item from the Firebox Stove channel/site except for the folding out vehicle attaching table and the expensive knives. I use my Firebox almost every single day sometimes even twice. As a trucker it makes living out of the truck so much more fun. Often times Truckers come over asking what the heck I'm doing. Several times I've had a grocery store nearby and someone run off for some meats and I'll break out the 8 panel and have a cookout, so much fun. Firebox is absolutely my favorite piece of all my bugout gear in 10k spent. Loving the adventure, keep thriving :)
Suffering builds character. That's what I'd tell my mountaineering clients when it was 0, snow blowing sideways, toes frozen. Type II fun. Loving the journey so far Sterling.
I’m a newbie in motorcycle touring. I’m a bored banker and want to just Leave everything and travel around the world. Your channel really showcases what I really want from my life.
Sterling you are inspiring. By far my favorite UA-camr. I plan to get an adventure bike since watching your films. I live in Mexico and about move to the Baja of Mexico. I found you with your Baja videos with Eva. Then I got hooked. I download your videos and watch them while I travel. I work for the airlines so have a lot commute time. My wife and I have to get to Bisbee to try your and Eva’s hotel. It looks like our cup of tea for sure! You have best personality. My wife don’t even like motorcycles but she finds your videos entertaining. We lived in Montana, Alaska, now Mexico we are gypsies haha. Thanks for all you do and glad you’re healing up my friend.
Why would eanyone bring a table on an offroad trip, when you have 2 hard side cases that can be used as chair and a table, or hammock as a chair and 2 cases for a bigger table.. Plus he brought a chair.. Full of bad advices.. The lighter you are the better and you have less things to pack..
I have to tell you, been watching you from day one, this by far is the best adventure channel on you tube. no bullshit. I am serious. nothing comes close
You know, watching your videos is like sitting around the campfire with you. Relaxed and relatable. I watch as few others regularly but yours has such a real factor, that ability to see myself doing what you are doing. Your cinematography is outstanding but it is that simple casual conversation you have with us each time that makes it so desirable to watch.
I watch a lot of "moto-vlogging" on UA-cam and often contemplate if I have the financial means or commitment to try it for myself, but your videos truly are mini-movies and show that there are levels to how committed one can be to the presentation. Twelve episodes in and I realize that while you shoot video, that you don't talk while riding but give us updates throughout the video. Thanks for sharing your adventure with us. Godspeed!
Your timing on this series is perfect. I have been enjoying this series, never use notifications for new videos until I found your channel. I like that you dive into the details and really talk about all the different aspects of moto travel. As I aspire to start my journey next year I appreciate this content. Thanks!
The funny thing about those "uncomfortable situations" we run into when out on our adventure trips, it seems like hell when we are going through them, but when we remember those times, we miss them, and want to do it again. Sounds like you were doing a lot of soul searching that night. It's a good thing, and keeps us centered in our lives.
Great video! This past August I did a similar route, Southern California to Sidney, MT and back in 22 days. That comment about "smoothing it" really spoke to me. On said trip, I spent every night on a thin, foam sleeping pad in a 1p tent so small that I couldn't fully sit up. Now I'm smoothing things out with a top of the line, nearly twin-size air matress and a 3p tent. It makes all the difference. I honestly think I could live full-time with this setup.
Sometimes the food tasted so good because where we choose to eat, I plan to ride solely in the near future when the weather permitted. Listened to your words, I learn how to accept life and we can do our best to live on our dream. Wish you be heathy and peace. Thank you.
Besides riding one of my favorite bikes, I like the way you are riding, ----- solo. You give me encouragement for myself and my R1200GS. So love your photography. Thank you.
I am a whopping three minutes into this video and I am absolutely blown away by the cinematography and audio quality! BRB, checking your description for the gear you’re using!
Great video, thanks for sharing this experience. I just got back from a 2 week (truck camping) adventure out west. I have an adventure bike, might need to look at this next time!
Great filming and talking.. As someone who solo travels a lot also. I like what you said about enduring the suffering. Its definitely not for everyone. And lots of ups and downs along the way. But those low moments makes you appreciate the highs so much more.. Ride on Man... Subbed !!!
Really enjoying these videos. I am from the UK with a dream of touring the USA and camping, but ive never camped before. Cannot wait. These videos are soo inspiring. The past few days that ive been watching your videos, its felt like ive been on holiday with you. Ive had an awesome weekend without even leaving my home 😁 thankyou so much!
Great stuff Sterling I really like the table in the firebox. Decades ago I added a food dehydrator to my must-have list. It has paid for itself many times over for those just add water meals except mine are homemade will never spoil and are not preserved with a ton of sodium in foil packet. I dehydrate fruits including the fruit leather so-called and many vegetables and fish, it could not be easier both in the preparation and in the packing. Add to that the variety it's all up to you you can make soups and stews you can make a complete meal you can make small portions you can pre-package it or mix it up as you camp if you really want to save space you can get a vacuum sealer and bag it that way. other than that trader Joe's is one of the best deals going as they have a lot of food that's partly cooked and sealed in bags- add water and eat , including the Indian foods, but in Bear country that's asking for trouble...
Yep...Firebox-THE way to go! I've even roasted a Cornish game hen in the larger pot, complete with a cream/cognac reduction with chanterelles. Love the idea of the Hydroflask too. Take a look at Packit Gourmet foods as well. Outstanding flavor, great selection, and they have a "general grocery" section that you can use to build your own 'add water" food. Happy trails!
We camped at Big Timber this summer along with the Pioneer Scenic Byway. I've we done thousands of off pavement miles in MT and it's a favorite r III d IU Ng area for me.
Outstanding job on the videography. I appreciate the time and effort it takes to set them up , ride through them like that’s all you did, and go back and collect everything. Great effort !!👍😎
I bought that table after seeing it on your previous videos and you gave me the info on it. It is amazingly compact and light. You have me thinking seriously about the little firebox.
I'm enjoying your ability to do what you do. I'm sure its quite challenging. I don't think I would do well after a few days of that life style. I subscribed so I can follow your adventures.
We often fall into the trap of thinking we have to be "hard-core" in order to have an adventure. It's good to remember that the point is to find balance and relaxation and even comfort along the way, as best we can. It's the only way you will keep going, and not get burned out by the difficulties.
Great videos. Can’t help but think about Montana apex predators out & about in his adventures especially at higher elevations in the middle of Nowhere, Montana. Sleeping in a hammock, seems like easy pickings for a hungry bear or mountain Lion.
Hi mate love your videos. I'm in New Zealand and after watching your videos I think I need to park my Harley for a little while and get a duel sportbike and get into nature. Thanks for your vids, keep safe.
EPIC! love this series, great photography 👍 out of ALL cross country trips i have watched this one inspires me the most to get on my GS and just go!!!! Thank you for sharing and the time your taking to take us along on your trip. Thank you.

The illusion of deep wilderness camping spoiled by the sounds of young families in the background. Nice video angles and continuity of the story.
Keep the camping and cooking segments going; I’ve been doing this for 66 years and enjoy watching others enjoying the same. After all those years, I still find new fresh ideas . Thank you.
Do you have a some good tip for a new beginner on motorcycle camping?😊
...cold beer, hot meal, and a comfortable bed.... right on! Just found your channel. Really enjoy your content.
Thanks and welcome!!!

There's just something soothing about these videos! They're great!
Wow - sometimes the ol' algorithm gets it right! Love this video. Can't wait to watch more. Great trip!
At 10:22 "You need to learn how to suffer." You are absolutely right
about that my friend!!!
Cold beer, a hot meal and a comfortable bed. Yes. That’s it. Loving these videos.

Very much enjoy your videos. I think you are the only one who shows part riding and mainly the camping. Very enjoyable
Man, the way you didn't level the little table drives me NUTS! :) Outside of that - really cool drone shots.
Ha haha, so funny because I thought the same thing like you...level the table...hahaha

Love your videos. Don’t know how you can sleep peacefully in bear county but glad you can.
Our term in the military for dealing with uncomfortable situations was "embrace the suck"!
The feeling of freedom far out weighs any minor discomforts encountered along the way! 👍
Totally agree!

Fantastic Video! I was cracking up with the background noise. Lol
I have been following for a while now the dialogue is every bit as good as the scenery, very well done.
That is beautiful!!! I must see it for myself.
