This summer I've been spending a lot of time exploring my home province of British Columbia by motorcycle. One of the memorable trips I did with my Honda CB500X was riding to the Okanagan and Shuswap and exploring that beautiful area. There's so much great riding and hiking and it was my joy to check out the area.
Thanks for coming along for the ride!

Oh my god, absolutly beatiful. Was there 30 years ago, i must come back..
You have a so beautiful Country, my last visit there is 4 years ago. It's so nice to see that you can drive so wonderful motorcycle tours. The pandemie stopped all travellers and we all can only drive in our homecountries. I wish you from Germany all best, take care and stay healthy. Thank so lot for your wonderful video. My best Joe
Thanks so much, Joe.
WOW. So much fantastic "wide open" and the freedom of it all. Maybe one day I may get to experience the beauty.
Thanks Robert. I hope you do!
Brilliant video, beautiful scenery and you found a great place to camp. I love your bike. Thanks for sharing with us all , safe travels. 👍🇬🇧
Thank you, Dave!
Another beautifully filmed vlog! Truly breathtaking scenery. I really look forward to your vlogs. 👍🏽👍🏽🙏🏽
Thank you, Soocheang!
Beautiful scenery. Would love to ride those roads with great views.
Only recently subscribed. Your videos have a calming, serene side to them which I love.
Thank you
Thanks Norman! Appreciate the support of my channel and glad to know you find the content calming. Riding through nature has that effect on me. 😊
That is some amazing scenic cinematography! Thank you for sharing!
AWESOME video, AWESOME drone footage and fabulous editing too ... thank you for bringing us along to enjoy the most beautiful scenery of BC ... 👍🏻👍🏻🙏🏻❤️
Thank you, James!
Hi Megan, great views of BC where I lived for 2 years. I am back to Quebec and sure miss the BC mountains, lakes and open space. Thanks for sharing your experiences with us !
Thanks for watching, Eric!
Absolutely beautiful scenery! The mountains are breathtaking. Your backyard is truly a riders dream. Your video is great and the music fits in nicely! You have some of the best riding videos! Really enjoy them and thank you for all the time you put into these. Ride safe Megan!
Thank you very much! I really appreciate you watching and your encouragement on my channel. It means a lot.
Megan Kaptein I completely agree with the post above 🙏👌😊
@@hughsnyder891 Same as me.
Loved touring that area in the 90’s. Brought back many memories. Thanks.
You're blessed with a beautiful country. It reminds me of riding through the Highlands of Scotland and then some! Stay safe out there!
Thank you!
Great video Megan! The cinematography and scenery were beautiful. I love the glamour shots and western theme/soundtrack. I’m glad you got a good camping spot - I share your aversion to night riding - too many “forest rats” 😊.
Thanks for watching, Robert!
Sharp presentation with excellent energy, The entire episode start to finish flowed nicely! Epic scenery !!
Dependable Honda Bike with excellent tire choice, you have been noticed !!!!!
Thank you so much! I appreciate you watching and taking the time to comment.
WOW, that has got to be one of the best videos we have watched yet! We are full time RVers in a Raptor Toyhauler and yes we haul our bikes. We have been watching a lot of motorcycle camping videos lately and you hit it out of the park with this one.
Thank you so much for your kind words! I really appreciate it. Safe travels to you!
Stunning ride Meggan! What a beautiful part of the world you live in. Thank you for another excellent video 💚🌼💠🏵⛰
Thank you for watching, Jane. It sure is a stunning part of the world and I'm so lucky to call it home.
Love that epic drone shot on the cliff face! Seems we motorcyclists have all been on the pandemic related rediscovery plan of British Columbia. Though I'd love to see Covid in the rearview mirror for everyone's sake, I can say it's helped remind me of how amazing our Province is, and I've been able to do some old routes again, and found some fantastic new ones, and earmarked some for 2021! Great video.
Absolutely, Sean! Even if it weren't for the pandemic, I'd happily be exploring BC in the summer. There's no place I'd rather be this time of year. Winter, on the other hand...
@@MeganKaptein Hi Megan, I'm not so keen on how close you were to that cliff face, I have a fear of heights and I had shivers running up my spine just looking. I'm in New Zealand and I have been, and have owned motorcycles for 53 years (current bike is a 1200 Suzuki Bandit) so love watching others rides on UA-cam. I have a friend that lives in Kelowna in the Okanagan but I have never been over there. You would love some of our riding down here. There is nothing I like seeing more than pretty women riding motorcycles, like my wife, and you like her are right up there in the pretty stakes if I do say so myself lol
Wow !! so beautiful scenery in this video, thanks for your great content.
Thank you very much!
Just started watching your videos i love them you are an inspiration the scenery is beautiful I’m pleased you like the bike i have the same one and love it I can’t wait to watch more
Welcome aboard! Glad to have you along for the ride.
Hello Megan, thank you for taking me along on your journey. Your videos of British Columbia make me want to plan a northwest trip of my own. Amazing!
Thank you for watching, Dave!
Breathtaking Is the word alight. Absolutely beautiful country. As always, a great video..
Thank you very much!
Beautiful video production Megan! The proof of it's excellence is the disappointment felt when you realize it's over. Thank you!
Aw, thank you Ljoel! Appreciate you watching.
Thank you Megan for taking us along on your adventures. Such beautiful country. Can’t wait to ride there someday. Cheers
Thanks for coming along!
Hi Megan, your opening shots were like I was watching an epic western movie and loved the whistle, it was quite spine chilling, and what dreams are made of, then you find this idyllic pitch to set up camp, so beautiful. I think British Columbia is paradise on earth, and so enjoyed coming along with you and seeing your great country.
I agree with your analysis--BC really is a nature lover's paradise and it's my pleasure to share it with you through my channel.
Canada seems so nice to ride! I need to put that on the list! Also I've seen your new camera angles, drone footage and editing! All great!
Thanks so much for watching and noticing the details. 😊
Wowza - BC is just spectacular looking. The footage of the deer leaping in front of you was crazy. Awesome post.
Thanks so much!
What amazing experiences awaits us all near our own homes ! Thanks for sharing !
Beautiful and awesome! We love this Megan! 🌅🏍️
Aww thanks so much!! 💜
Hi, greetings from Mexico, I like me see your videos and enjoy seeing those beautiful landscapes. God bless you so much
Great opening shot with an EAGLE cruising across the frame and nice western music. Awesome editing. High quality video as always.
Thanks you! Appreciate you watching and commenting.
Oh yes one to watch on a Friday 👍 thanks Megan 🙏
Thanks for watching!
Beautiful scenery, thanks for taking us along.
Thank you so much for watching!
Awesome vid! I gasped when that deer 🦌 ran out in front of you! Over here we have Kangeroos and wombats which bound out so I don't like riding at night either. Love seeing vids from other motorgirls. 🙂
The wildlife sure keeps me humble! Thanks for watching... don't get too many women commenting on my channel, so I always love to hear from other lady riders. 😊 Safe travels!
@Her Motorcycle Adventures ; Gidday cobber(ess) from across 'The Deetch' ( ;-) )This time 7 years ago I was finishing up a 14 day 5000km tour of coastal SE Australia on a rented BMW F650. It was a round trip from Canberra out to Batemans Bay and then following the coast as much as possible (defo incl the Great Ocean Road) as far as Warrnambool, cutting back over the Otway Mtn Ranges, breezing thru Melbourne, then up the Alpine Highway, veering northeast at Omeo over 80km of unsealed road, over the Snowy Mtn range via Cabramurra (Australia's highest town) and finally the back roads into Canberra.
My Canberra-based sister warned me about wombats and 'roos and travelling at dawn/dusk. I 'got' 'roos in my head and their behaviours but couldn't visualise a wombat which I thought was quite a 'small' marsupial like a 'possum. I primarily used to think a W.O.M.B.A.T. was an Engineer's 'Dilbertism' acronym to describe C-level and middle-management ideas that were ill-conceived, under-funded, poorly implemented and finally terminated as a "Waste Of Money, Brains And Time".
And then I saw one 'for reals', or rather the intact but lifeless corpse of one on the side of the road to 'The Prom' (Wilson's Promontory, the southernmost point of the Australian mainland/continent). I pulled over, nudged it with my boot to see how its mass matched its volume, studied it for a coupla minutes and thought "Hmm, a .7m high, mobile, semi-sentient brick wall. No wonder you Aussies have such strong 'roo/bull bars fitted to the fronts of your Toyota HiLux utes and Land Cruisers. Good one. If I hit one of those wombats at speed, I'd be pitched high and spinning head over heels over the handlebars, airborne for 50m before hitting the road, possibly dying then and there from a snapped neck upon impact." :-O :-O .
I then proceeded to break that Golden (Aussie+Nth American) Biker's Travel rule, not once but twice, due to mistaken accomodation planning and distance-time underestimation. The first was riding the Great Ocean Rd at night getting to my pre-booked accommodation at Apollo Bay after just managing to catch the last ferry of the day from Portsea to Queenscliff across 'The Rip' (The entrance to Port Phillip Bay). Luckily, no Koalas in the middle of the road warming themselves on the stored heat of the asphalt! I got a 'dream run' to enjoy the GOR for its curves without the scenery distraction. The next day I proceeded to ride the GOR in both directions for the complete scenic treatment!
The second time I rode at night was between Corryong and Adaminaby right through the heart of Kosciuszko Natl Park. I was *really* nervous about this stretch and took things very slowly and cautiously, constantly on the lookout for hints of wildlife on either side of the road. I thought there would've been hotel accommodation at Cabramurra, but it turns out that is not a 'public' town. It's a 'company' town for the Snowy Mountains Hydroelectic Scheme. I was told the nearest hotel was in Adaminaby and mercifully I was lucky there upon arrival. Equally mercifully there were no mutual-fright wildlife encounters on that entire Koscuiszko traverse road.
So Megan's not the only one who 'wings it' on the accomodation front when exploring :-)
@@rhonda-my_honda_cb500x3 Yeah you definitely DO NOT want to hit wombats...they are VERY solid creatures. Glad you enjoyed your Australian travels. 😊
Ain’t BC BEAUTIFUL 😜👍🏻
This reminded me that I need to ride over on the mainland again. I was pretty much doing a similar route every year routinely but haven’t done so in five years. Time to change that!
See you in the next video.
Congrats on the sub count too by the way!
Thank you so much!!
What a beautiful country, you are very lucky to live there. Great video. Thanks
Indeed, thank you for watching!
I will add this to my list of highways to ride. Thanks for sharing the amazing views.
Thanks for watching, Frank.
That opening shot shows an eagle hunting your drone. Pretty cool
It was a rare shot!
This is excellent!... back to the video
Thanks so much!
Beautiful country and a lovely video, just the thing to watch at the end of a long week to kickstart the weekend...
Thanks so much! Have a great weekend.
Thanks for your amazing journey...Love it
I have to go a long way to ride through scenery like that. My back yard is the Texas Hill Country. As beautiful as BC is, I can ride year round. But I don’t you blame you one bit for loving your own back yard. It’s beautiful. Ride safe and have fun. Darryl🇺🇸
Thank you, Darryl!
@Megan: Have you ever thought of doing a video on what you take along with you on these adventure rides? IE: camping gear, riding gear, tools, spare parts, food, emergency supplies, etc? It could be interesting to your viewers. ✌🏻
That's a great idea! Thank you! I'll try to film something like this in the autumn when I'm not so busy out enjoying nature. 😊
Absolutely! As beautiful as the scenery was I was trying to check out your bike and all the gear and how you packed it. It looked so cool and interesting.
Great stuff! Looking forward to more!
Thanks Jote!
I'm glad to see your video after a long time. Also, when you look at the beautiful nature of Canada, you can feel that humans are very small beings. My CB500X is also running hard these days.I will always pray for your safety and health.
Thanks Sung Hoon! Yes, I agree--the huge mountains make us feel so tiny, and we really are in the grand scheme of things! Happy to know your bike is going strong.
Muito bom, excelente qualidade.
Megan l really enjoyed the ride out out with you (through UA-cam) a lovely country and breathe taking views bikers paradise l will look forward to seeing your next vid cheers a u.k biker Deano 😁🏍👍p.s take care and be safe
Thank you, Deano! Appreciate you watching as always!
B.C. has the great combination of scenic riding areas and low traffic - a rider’s paradise. I especially liked the cliff and valley view. Fantastic video (as usual). Thank you for sharing.
Thank you so much!!
Good timing for this video, I'm in the middle of doing the same thing in my 4runner. I went up the gravel road beside Harrison Lake and came out at Nahatlatch on the Fraser river, then north up to lillooet. Then I headed up the back roads to explore churn creek and junction sheep range park yesterday. Got some great photos of bighorns. I just pulled into Williams lake this morning to resupply and get my internet fix and I see this video suggestion... Now I have 4 days left, not sure where I'll go next.
That sounds like a great trip and indeed, perfect timing to watch. Sometimes I wish I had knobbies on my bike so I could venture off road a bit more. Safe travels, and thanks for stopping by my channel. ✌️
wow, perfect choice sound track, once upon a time in the west, ( n w) c;
Thank you!
Very cool video indeed. The scenarios are awesome- But also a lesson learned from this video- When you tour and travel a lot, you often forgets the beauty of your own country. I know as I did too- Well it's only 'Denmark' or' Canada' or wherever you're from 👍🤗💐🥰
Thank you so much!
@@MeganKaptein You're very welcome sweetie
Megan - thank you for posting this. I lived halfway between Squamish and Whistler during the 1990-1991 ski season, and as a young uni student on his first overseas trip with friends, it was such a great time. Such a spectacular place, and I enjoyed driving the Sea to Sky. Thank you from Australia.
Brian, I'm happy that my video could re-ignite some positive memories of your time in Canada. Thanks for watching and all the best to you.
Thanks Megan for share with us the beautiful landscapes riding your moto. Grettings from Chile.
That is beautiful! I spent most of my adventures in the Okanogan area. We really have almost everything we need as far as nature goes right here. I would like to go to New Zealand some day after watching the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Ride safe!
Flag-waving Kiwi here... I have said elsewhere, that NZ is a compact/'zip-file' version of Canada. You'll totally love it over here. No large forest wildlife (bear, deer caribou etc) to make anyone nervous about crossing paths with, no snakes or lyme disease carrying ticks or virus-laden mosquitos (oh we still have em, and mofo biter midges/sandflies down Fjordland way, but they won't incapacitate or kill you with their bites).
LOTR fun fact: 80% of the outdoor scenery is direct 'in-camera' with no compositing/CGI. I have a road-atlas that pinpoints all of the LOTR scenery, plus a complete scenery location guidebook. 'Hobbiton' is located less than 50km/30mi from where I live, with some of the finest motorcycling Waikato back-country paved roads all around to ride to get there. :-D :-D
I will definitely reach out to you when I finally make the trek out your way!
@@MeganKaptein It's a deal, Megan. I would consider it the highest joy & honour to help & show a kindred spirited traveler, the hiker+biker's view of NZ that is 20 x more than what's 'touristically showcased' in the general travel brochures & websites. Yes there is a bit of quality touristy overlap, but much more often than not, the hidden gems are free, not withstanding the journeying magic of the roads less travelled to reach them. Try & allow yourself at least 8 weeks here if possible, to get even a half -decent scratch of the surface of Middle Earth.
But we'll need to use old-skool methods to establish contact as I don't do the usual soc-med suspects of FB or IG out of well-informed, ethical and privacy concerns over their (mis)use of Big Data mining. Although Google/YT aren't that much better these days. So probably best if I touch base first via a contact message on your own dedicated website, 'eh?' ( ;-) )
Shalom, John
@@rhonda-my_honda_cb500x3 8 weeks in NZ sure sounds like a dream trip. Plus a 2 week quarantine period, I suppose! Yes, best way to keep in touch is through email/my website. Thanks, John!
Yay!!! glad I could be a part of your adventure :) ..next time bike drop video ;) great video ! Miss you xoxoxo
I'm so glad you could be too! Always a treat to spend time with you, Rosie, and THANK YOU for you help with the drone footage. ♥️
Psst, I hear there is a Girl Rider who thinks she an Angel from Calgary who is talking behind your back (smiles)
I knew that was u rosie. salam alaykom . hope you are doing good sister.
Rosie!, you and Megan have been my inspiration. Watched all your videos! I plan on touring the Mid East when the borders open up, see If my Harley will handle it
Are you back in Canada?
WOW Megan, what an amazing video and scenery!! You're truly a great Canadian ambassador, well done!!
Thank you, Nelio! Canada has been so good to be and it's a true honour to represent my country in this way. 😊
Incredible scenery! Would love to visit there some day. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
Pandemia mia... 🤣! Wild West...!🤫 💕 I love British Columbia 🤗
Me too! 😊
You were looking at my house in the valley from cliff. Lol
Haha awesome! You live in a beautiful area. 😊
The landscape is amazing, lovely roads. Hope I get to ride those someday as well :P
Awesomesauce. I'm jealous.
Thanks Peter!!
Thanks Megan, My 10 y.o. daughter and I enjoy seeing how adventurous girls should be.
I'm honoured to inspire you both! I just ordered this beautifully illustrated book about the first woman to ride around the world: www.amazon.ca/gp/product/0593116291/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Your daughter might feel a bit old for picture books, but I sure love my copy and will definitely be getting these books for my nieces for Christmas!
Absolutely stunning views. What a fantastic area to explore.
It really is! Thanks for watching.
It's so great to see highway 99 again, I missed it, been in Canada for years before decided to go back to Asia to take care of my parent, I hope I can go back to Canada again someday
That's very honourable for you to help out your family!
Marry me haha! I Love when people follow their dreams and do what they love to!
I’m a lumberjack and l’m ok. Beautiful country!
Thanks for watching! 😊
I loved Riding on the western route of BC in 2018. Beautiful country! Thanks for your video that I just found.
Glad you enjoyed your experience! Thanks for watching and your support of my channel.
Always a pleasure to watch your videos Megan
Thank you so much, Nick. Really appreciate the support of my channel.
Amazing videography and superb editing! Great use of music. Every video is better! It’s hard to strike a balance with the temptation to use too much drone footage but I feel like you nailed it. It’s so hard to stitch together a cohesive story after you’ve already shot all the footage. But you did a great job.Close call with that BIG DEER! Whoa! Great job Megan!
Thanks so much, Cliff! Yes, definitely lots to consider when filming and editing. It’s a big job, but happy to know you enjoyed the content. 😊
Beautiful country! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks so much for watching.
Blimey, definately on my to do list, the places are just stunningly beautiful.
Thanks JD. 😊
Really high quality video again. Great film-making - thank you for showing us around.
Thank you!
Wow! Incredible, incredible, incredible!!!!
Thank you!
great, just bought a bike and I‘ve been to BC already by car some years ago, great time. Now I like to go by bike from Vancouver over the Rockies.
That would be an amazing trip.
Sooo pretty...the landscape ...the rider...Thank you!
Thanks for watching, Luis.
I agree you are a lucky one. Beautiful nature and I have a feeling of a beautiful people also... sooner or later I will have to explore.
Thank you!
One of the finest sites of Motovlogging I know and a beautiful vid about this part of BC ! Thanks and Greets from Wolf on wheels / Southwest Germany
Thank you so much!
Schwarzwald? Algäu? Egal, schöne Gegende!!!
Would love to tour these great regions by bike or motorbike again. Then again, the Rhine Valley is a little less hilly! (Memories of slogging up Schwarzwaldhoschstrasse come to mind!)
Awesomeness as always ! Love your videos. Keep up the great videos coming ;)
Thanks a ton!
Hey Megan! Great to see you again. Wow. Awesome ride! Jealous, not....! Spent the summer riding through the Alps, around Lac de Serre-Ponçon. Amazing. Some truly fab roads and breathtaking scenery. Looking forward to your next clip!
Thanks for watching, Simon! Happy to hear you've been enjoying some wonderful riding experiences as well.
Wow, beautiful countryside, awesome landscape. Great bike.
Thank you, Bert!
Really enjoyed watching and yes sometimes we don´t have to travel very far to apreciate great landscapes, thanks for sharing. Greetings from this small rural town somewhere in Mexxico!
I love rural Mexico! 😊 Thanks so much for watching!
Yee-haw Megan... ☺️ Awesome video as always. Thank you for sharing. I started riding in California some years back and haven’t really ridden a bike in BC (or Canada for that matter). Looking forward to coming back for a visit and exploring... perhaps next year when we can travel again.
Thanks Pedrum! Next summer would be the perfect time to plan for a motorcycle trip out west. 😊
Thanks for this video I keep watching. It resignates more now that we can't travel to those areas. It's a great reminder of how much amazing our province is.
My 3 favourite things in the world: motorcycles, camping and hiking!! Cool video! I feel BC will be my home soon :D
It's a great place for the outdoors enthusiast!
Steel horse rider Megan in the Wild West! So much beauty in not even 7 minutes, incredible! Your home region is a biker's dream. Great to have you back with such an amazing video! 😍👍
Thank you, Christoph!!
“Don’t judge me...” LOL! Love the drone videos!
Amazing motorcycle adventures. You are truly gifted. I really felt like I was riding with you through every adventure. Appreciated you sharing not just the highs but the lows like your rainy episode hopping on that ferry, I felt like I was reliving my own rainy adventures. Keep up the great work! Thanks for watching, Lawrence, and taking the time to leave such an encouraging comment. I'm glad my adventures could rekindle some memories of your own adventures. May you have many more!
I have a picture of the bikes in front of Duffy Lake. An amazing journey that is over due to repeat. I’m in Radium now after taking some time in Nakusp and Kaslo. The beauty can’t be overstated. Thanks for the video Megan.
Thanks for watching and enjoy your time in the Kootenays! You are so right about the beauty there. 🙌
Thank you for sharing beautiful BC.

winding road with spectacular view is every rider’s dream. nice vid
It really is! Thanks for watching.
Great video Megan, thanks so much .

Great short video Megan, you do have a nice picturesque country and that waterfront campsite was just perfect!

Nice to see and hear a proud Canadian riding around her Country. I feel the same about my home here in New Zealand. I have been fortunate enough to have traveled a little around your beautiful country and am lucky enough to have family there. Cheers from Graeme
Thanks Graeme! I don't have much of a choice because of covid, but even if I had all the options, there's no place I'd rather be in the summer than here in BC. I hope to visit your beautiful country some day. It's super high up there on my list!
