I've traveled all over the planet and can say unequivocally that the Oregon Coast is in the top ten most scenic places. This video merely give you a taste. Nothing captures the experience of overlooking Cape Perpetua than actually being there and being filled with awe.
When I was a teenager I hitchhiked from Ithaca NY to Cannon Beach Oregon. When I got there some guy showed me a perfect camping place 25 feet above the beach in the park just north of that rocky outcrop north of Cannon Beach. It was a full moon that night and I had a place overlooking the sea and perfect full moon under a tree. That night I went down to the beach to look at the waves and had to walk really far out to get to the water. There was a sneaker wave that came forcing me to jump up onto the rocks nearby and the water got to about 6 or more feet deep flowing past me like a river. I had to wait for it all to drain out before running back to a safer level. That was a most amazing experience combined with a little terror camping there that night, before moving south.
I had the privilege of living in the Coos Bay / North Bend area from 1995 to 2011, where my wife and I raised our kids before an eventual career move elsewhere. It was the perfect launching point to explore the Oregon Coast. We traveled north and south to visit all the places and activities profiled in this video ... We miss the region, and the people there, dearly.
I have been fortunate to go to the Oregon coast many times and I have been from the north to the south and stopped at all of the points of interest. We always went to Neskowin from the time it was a campground with a community kitchen. Eventually the campground changed and became proposal rock inn. I have said many times the Oregon coast is a little piece of heaven on earth. Great video.
My father was born and raised in Tillamook County, so needless to say growing up we spent a lot of time visistng relatives and the breathtaking Oregon Coast. You can't get any better!!
You know it man Oregon is always beautiful and we got to keep it clean and beautiful and respect the people around themselves I do and I would say thank you and thank you again I was born and raised in Oregon now my grandparents are from Russia mom and dad are from China from my dad came to Oregon from China he got his citizenship pay the taxes and live like American and respected it this is our home and all thanks to Kennedy
In 1968 and 69, I delivered propane all along this stunning Oregon coast. No RR along the southern OR coast, so I drove a semi tanker, with trailer to load up in Coos Bay and then delivered to households, lumber mills, laundromats and whoever else wanted propane southward to Gold Beach. After all of these years, this coast line is still spectacular to me.
I drove 101 North-to-South at the beginning of the year. In my opinion the Oregon coast was the most stunning coast the whole trip down. Some beautiful country indeed!
Nothing like the Oregon coast in the world! Washington's Olympic peninsula is pretty incredible too but nothing like OR beaches. Can't wait to visit again soon.
How beautifuland great is our USA.Land that i love. There is no wondering why people alll over wants to come here.It is Huge, packed with gorgeous places ,packed with kindness, love, and freedom. Lets keep it safe in peace with love.

The trip from Astoria to California all along Highway 101. It's one of the most wonderful trips we've taken while traveling in Oregon, it's a dream, I know it's just over 300 miles and it took us a week to cross it, as we did many stops to see the beauties that we found, if they travel or have plans to travel this route, prepare with their cameras that will not stop taking many photos, good trip.
I took a trip with my mom from Neah Bay, Wa. on 101 all the way to the Redwoods in California. We took a week and camped every night in a different spot along the way. Oregon has the best and the most campgrounds. Very beautiful one with lots of big trees and great vistas. I really like the yurts. They have heat, electricity, and a bed and table & chairs. You still cook outside over a campfire, but it's ssdoi much more comfortable than sleeping on the ground. If you have bad knees, you'll understand!

I wanted to move to california when I was 18, So I did. On my schwinn continental and with about 100 in my pocket, I made it from west linn to lincoln city just about dark. The next 4 days I spent riding down the coast. Stunning beautiful country. Always loved that trip, but the logging trucks between cresent city and eureka were a bit daunting. I hope they widened the road since 1974.

I have vacationed on the Oregon coast many times. It is the most beautiful place I have ever seen. The area from Depot Bay to Newport, and the area from Astoria to Cannon Beach are especially beautiful. There are two ways to get to the coast from Portland; I recommend hi-way 99.
Wonderful coast trip. My wife and I did this 6 years ago and it is every bit as spectacular as it is said to be. We travel a lot and this was one of the very top vacations we have ever taken.
Done this trip many times with my wife in our VW Bus. Most recently last month. You must try Griffs on the Port Orford pier. Best fish shack on the West Coast.
Thank you for this amazing view that, once one's literally seen it, one can't help but return to (or live at if lucky) again and again. For me it has anyway. The 804 Trail in Yachats is my personal mecca for the spiritual blessings it gives. Even on the rainiest, windiest, coldest of days along this ocean-fronted path, I've never felt anything less than grateful to be there.
I backpacked the Oregon Coast Trail starting at the mouth of the Columbia river before ending early in Bandon due to a torn Achilles tendon. In those four weeks i got to explore places and experience views few get to enjoy. What an adventure that was.

The Pacific Coast of the United States is my most favorite region in the country. The sheer enormity, the vastness, and the majesty of the Pacific Ocean is absolutely stunning and amazing. And, as an East Asian enthusiast (China, Korean, and Japan), these countries are just on the other side of this marine titan, and their cultural influences are strong in this region.
I have traveled up PCH and 101 from So Cal to into Washington and back a couple times on motorcycle. Best scenic in US. Did it by car a few times. It was best back in 70's and 80's before crowded with other people doing it.
This is such an informative video! I'm planning a road trip along the Pacific Coast Scenic Byway. But once I search by the keyword Pacific Coast Highway, most of what I found are just the stretch in California. Your video is very helpful and suits my need perfectly. A million thanks for sharing this valuable story! Please keep up with your awesome work!
Looking at this from Australia's Pacific Coast (where I live), there are many similarities to our NSW coast south of Sydney - so both sides of that massive ocean do have connections!
