I had 2 KE100s when i was a kid loved em. Engine bearings locked up on one got ahold of one that was a year older and made one awesome bike out of the two and i sold it for 500 bucks. Got em both out from under folks back decks when they werent runnin.

I bought the earlier model of this bike new. 1971 or '72. Had a similar issue when it was still under warranty. Dealer changed all the crank bearings including the rod pin and bearing. He turned up the injection pump a little , too. After that I ran premix at 100:1 on all the Kawy's. That was my wifes bike so all my friends rode it and beat the sh_t out of it for 3 more years. Still ran like new when I sold it. Only ran Kawasaki oil in it, too. There are tricks for the rotary valve that give the motor better mid range, but I forgot them long ago. Dependable little machine. I also dropped a tooth on the front sproket because we only did woods riding. Keep up the good work! Dave

I like the older bikes better, hopefully I will have a little fun on it before I sell it. Hope you're doing well!

Do you think you could fit a kx 100 engine in there and have something you can actually get parts for?

Totally enjoyable video, to be honest amazed the bearings were so bad. Japanese bikes had when I rode a reputation for the engines being almost unbreakable. Many a rider learnt abusing a Honda super cub 50/70/90 on fields. Nil maintenance add fuel and go.
The beauty of 2 strokes and their simplicity. This is the second video I have seen recently where the carb has been enclosed and never noticed it before.
Good to see pronunciation of stator, now all we need is the UK version of Zed900 not Zee. to be used 😀
Looking forward to more vids of the 900RS, ride safe.

Kx100. Great bike. I get that it's more work but you'll have a solid bottom end for years now.
    🤞

I have one that I picked up a year ago, for 200 bucks off a family friend. And I need to get a hold of some parts, do you think you could please help me out by giving me some advice on whare to buy them? Whare did you get parts for your bike? Thank you for your time and keep up the great work, I love your videos and what you do.

I would like to help but this is an older video and I'm not sure where I got my parts. I can tell you that from my research the cylinder is not supposed to be bored and it was nearly impossible to find a standard size piston. Other than the top end I think the rest of the parts were accessible through ebay. Good Luck they are fun bikes!!

The clean condition of the oil for the transmission has no effect of the condition of the crank bearings, as the transmission side of the motor is sealed separately, unless it's leaking through but would only mean it's well oiled 😆

In the words of Captain Kirk "to boldly go where not much oil has been before". I think that lack of oil did for the big end as much as anything else and it would be a pity to renew all those parts and do all that work only to find the big end bearing was toast. I enjoyed the video though with all it's humour and bravery .
