- In this DCS World video, I get back into the P-51 Mustang for a fighter sweep over northern France. I've not played DCS in a while, but, I thought I'd get back into some flying.

Good to see you fly this campaign, it was the first one I ever made :) I can't wait to try it over the new Normandy map, perhaps it could even use the bigger size - but then, longer transit times. Still less than the 3-4 hours it takes to go to Berlin, right?
One note: turn on the gyro switch so the gunsight can come alive and actually calculate deflection.
I’ll be honest, I’m not a fan of the gyro sight. I’ve always found that I “chase it” and lose energy instead of being patient. I’m better without it.
@@TacticalPascale you can turn off the diamond then, and have only the circle and the dot. I usually turn it off for ground attacks.
its a really nice one... i still couldnt finish, but im trying.
The sense of speed via the wind and the scream of the gun ports when pulling alpha is a really nice touch in the Mustang. I wish they added some aural feedback for the buffet, because in VR there's often not enough of the canopy frame visible to see the animation, and I always find myself in a suddenly violent wing stall out of seemingly nowhere due to the lack of feedback.
The P-51B was the first every Airfix model I got (for my birthday) in 1978. I saw a P-51D fly in to Casper when I was learning to fly in 1998. Absolutely love that aircraft - but God, the wing-stall drives me crazy, especially when you just about to squeeze the trigger.
I do love the P-51D in XPLANE11.5 though - but there, I fly from my home airport of Liverpool (in preparation of me securing $US 2.5 million for my own Mustang)!
The wing stall can be brutal, but I’m getting used to the “squeal” it makes just before it happens.
Good luck getting your mustang!
@@TacticalPascale I'll listen out for the squeal. Thanks!
The Mustang is just a fantasy. I may just end up settling for a PA-28!
@@TacticalPascale BTW, I forgot to say - superb channel. Perhaps my favourite out if DCS.
The Mustang would be amazing, the PA-28 almost as good
Bandit Bandit 12 oclock high ... Tally-Ho!
I must say I recently started playing IL2 and as far as atmosphere it is much more immersive and free flowing. I prefer actually flying the aircraft in DCS, but il2 certainly does the actual fights a lot better. I just wish il2 had a full hi fidelity cockpits instead of al those keybinds. Great video I love seeing you play campaigns I’ve played to see how you approach them
Both sims have their pros and cons, we all get to enjoy them both. I much prefer the IL-2 campaigns as you feel part of a squadron rather than a lone pilot with AI chasing you about.
@@TacticalPascale that’s a great way to put it actually. Just feeling apart of something bigger! How lucky we are to have these choices as flight simmers! Great time to be a fan of aviation
Absolutely. All I want now is a WW 2 Pacific theatre and a Vietnam map for Cold War jets.
Good gameplay and DCS is so beautiful. I only with for more immersive campaigns (movie-like, just a little bit :).
Playing BMS killed DCS singleplayer for me since it feels so lifeless, though I would like scripted missions in BMS. Swings and roundabouts
sorry, what is bms?

A Falcon 4 mod. It has a great dynamic campaign, but jo VR support
Great video. I have had a lot of luck running the oil cooler and radiator flap wide open in manual mode, much harder to cook the engine and more forgiving in the vertical fights. Also, one notch of flaps in combat maneuvering will delay that buffeting quite a lot
I use manual cooling often. Except on a long transit
some one mentioned that the servers can get interesting at times.
I can see you ripping a spitfire bud
Bruh where have you been??? Vacation? Not a stalker but I legit just thought bout you this morning (how I havent seen you upload). You finally uploaded a video and I am so happy to see that!!! Lets get it CRACKIN'!!!!
I’ve had a few personal issues to sort out, plus summer holidays and kids exams.
@@TacticalPascale Oh no my bad I had no idea. I am a parent as well and I definitely understand. Thanks for replying!
Turn on the gyro man. You have a fantastic gunsight, use it.
I sometimes get very frustrated with the DCS damage model.
This looks cool. Mind if you share the mission files?
It’s the second mission in the Blue Nosed Bastards of Bodney campaign by Reflected.
Is there a reason why do you not use the gyro gunsight?
You have the gyro reticle switched on but you have gyro itself switched off.
FW190A has a wingspan of approx 35 feet. Its very quick and easy to adjust for wingspan and range. I map the gunsight adjustments to the TMS switch on my F-16 grip.
You seem a much better pilot than I am yet you ignore the gyro gunsight just wondering why?
It used to distract me when deflection shooting. I’m used to it now and use it all the time. I’ve practiced with it a lot
Would love to see you do another sweep with the P47.
I'll be doing more of the Wolfpack campaign soon.
.50 seem very weak in dcs
I get bored with the transits as well.
To me IL2 is more gamey than sim
Yeah dcs ww2 multiplayer is dead population wise
Single player can’t keep me occupied
Il2 is well populated but the flight models float
Cold War dcs multiplayer is the sweet spot for now
