Some of the first American airmen to join the air war over Europe were the volunteers of the RAF’s Eagle Squadrons. In 1942 they were transferred to the Mighty Eighth Air Force under the 4th Fighter Group, based in Debden, Essex. The 4th was the first fighter group to penetrate German airspace, the first to escort bombers over Berlin, and led the first shuttle mission from England to Russia. Under the indomitable leadership of Colonel Don Blakeslee, they became the highest scoring unit of the USAAF, destroying 1,016 enemy aircraft in the air and on the ground.
In this campaign you will join the 4th Fighter Group during the first week following the D-day landings, and relive every mission they flew exactly the way they happened 80 years ago. These were meticulously recreated based on original documents and personal accounts with a keen focus on the finest details, allowing you to firsthand experience what it was truly like to take part in ‘The Mighty Endeavor’, one of the greatest military operations in history.
Hey Wolfpack! DCS P-51 Pilot here, I see you fighting her just a bit in the cruise out to the target. The Mustang has a wonderful 3 axis trim (Rudder, Elevator, and Aileron) You can trim her to almost hold perfect level flight in trim so work her up after take off and trim her up and she's a true pilots aircraft. She should treat you very nicely in formations even with a load! Love the content my friend! Love seeing you venture into DCS more frequently!
@@RupertBundem You refer to most aircraft as women, so calling a Mustang a her or she is common.
@@RupertBundem What's truly cringe is your lack of understanding of Military and Aircraft culture and vulgar use of emojis.
Cringe
It is nice to see distinguished ace Lt. Justin Hall back in the P-51. I knew he couldn't be stopped by that little encounter with a tree.
Bodenplatte comes after the Normandy invasion. That's actually a prequel to the following series, showing the heroic rise to glory of a young pilot who, like so many others, later faced an untimely death.
@@constancel4211 Of course it does. 🙂 However, after gaining 72 aerial victories, time travel wouldn't be that big of an issue, right?
Still, I love the prequel idea you proposed! 😉
Flight lead: that was poorly executed. Any real pilot: Hey, leader I hit it... 😂
From the older IL-2 videos to this one, I must say that was a marvelous three point landing in the Mustang!
"My left wing? Tis but a scratch" ;)
Or for Monty python “Tis but a flesh wound”
"You got a hole in your left wing!"
@@fernandomarques5166 noooo the war thunder flash backs also your losing oil pressure
Woot woot! Glad to see this series continue!
17:14 Haha, I'm pretty sure your buddy saved your bacon there, that FW-190 had you dead to rights, I think he gave up the control position on you in order to try to survive your wingman's attack, and it was pure luck that his first burst didn't shred you to ribbons.
WP, GREAT to seeya back in the air (virtually of course). Well done and welcome back matey! "I think this mission is off to a really good start..." Careful now, careful and MIND DEM TREETOPS!!!
Ain't the graphics in this game absolutely brilliant?!!
Yours Staff Sgt Raptowisk...
Thanks rap! It is great to be back in flight simming. DCS does look fantastic indeed!
I do love how your back with aircraft content :)
Me too, happy to be back in the cockpit
Dive bombing in a warbird is a skill I have yet to master. I don't have the P-51D yet, I have the Jug and the Mosquito. Both are similar tactics but with different variables. The faster the better in the Jug, the slower works best with the Mossi. I know they both have "bombing computers" but those are as basic as you can get. Nice job all the way around. Reflected really outshined himself with this campaign.
This bring back memories of the il2 mustang campaign
Wow at 17:20 I was very impressed with that move to get that 109 off your six. Bravo 👏👏👏
Thanks!
I thought there was no dogfights on D-day but I know that reflected did his research so I guess it's quite far away from the LZ?
PS: BTW maybe you know that late war wehrmacht joke? Goes like this: "How do you recognize aircrafts? Well if it's brown and green then it's british, if it's sylver then it's US, and if there is no plane at all, then it's the luftwaffe!" ;)
The reason why only 2 190s were seen over the beaches is because all the fighter groups worked to the east to block off the Luftwaffe. There were plenty of dogfights that day and many great pilots lost their lives.
@@ReflectedSimulationsInteresting! I just completed the second mission in one try, in VR, made it back in one piece having blown up the locomotive and shit down two 190. From the top of your head do you recall how the dogfight went IRL, was some of the mustangs we play list? Did they get any kill? You didn't upload anywhere what were the outcome of the 11 missions you recreated? I'd be curious to read that. Well done BTW, I had a great time and all the details and radio calls and all are awesome, thank you for abling us to get a glimpse of those moments of history!
That was mega intense! Visuals look incredible, this is going to be another awesome series ❤👏👏👏🐺
Glad you enjoy it!
Love your air combat vids. started me on my il2 journey
That European Air War music at the end though. That nostalgia hit hard!
Real hard.
YES! Love this P51 action. Looking forward to more
Thanks!
Need to adjust prop pitch to get your manifold pressure back in the green it will with help fuel burn
I think this is my favorite series in the channel. Keep it coming !
I am attending a screening on the 27th for masters of the Air and am so excited! Pilots from what the show is based off of will be there and cast, this gets me even more excited
I love the RL commentaries in these.
It would be very cool to do a korean war campaign with the p51
Saturday night off from work and a new Wolfpack345 video. Life is good 👍
I like when you do the warbirds dcs. Bravo!
I dunno what counted as the biggest threat, the 109s or the .50 cals from your own people.
Scratch that -- the 109 on your tail was a *problem*. 😀
Wooh I’ve been waiting for episode 2!
I grew up near that airfield. There are still traces left if you know where to look.
I love the ww2 content on dcs, I frequently fly my german and british planes over the jets. only downside to the german content was I had to look up manuals from the 1940s on how the bombs fuses worked and how to do my drops and dives lol. and still hitting a single tank is very hard im only able to hit ships since the target is so long. I do wish I could afford pedals for them though, its very hard to taxi without the toe brakes
chuck's guides doesn't have anything for you?
I mean, you saw Wolfpack's squad's efforts on a train, so it's not just you. Might as well have saved the taxpayer some money and just strafed it
Many real pilots missed their bombing targets as well. ;)
1:17 what a crazy time to be alive.
Great video!!! I love these storied campaigns! Can't wait to watch the whole thing, hyped for your next Bloodhound and U-Boat episdes
Great to see WP back in action and loving this
Man this looks gorgeous, I'm very jealous
@9:10 that loc aint going nowhere lol
Lol, no
EXCELLENT sortie wolfpack. Stuck that landing!!!
Thanks!
The Ai doesnt seem to mind putting its compatriots at risk by shoulder shooting. Is there a Mosquito campaign? (my favourite warbird)
Reflected did make a mossie campaign called V for Victory!
This game looks much better in the daylight.
I'm sure I recognise the ending music from European Air War back in the day...
I work at a Royal British Legion Home and one of my residents died a few days ago at the age of 102! He was on the beaches on D-DAY, himself being in the Royal Navy. I believe he said he was clearing the beach, and sending people to the right positions etc. So I love watching these kinds of things. The unknown stories. ( to me anyway)
Hey great job !! No bounce landing !!!!
Grab the scotch, party in the officer's mess after debrief!!
Another great game choice. Keep rolling Wolfie!!!
Really good sortie! Hurrah!
Is that HOI4 music in the start? Dope
Yep, Operation Compass.
Good job!
A great looking series
Hey man! I love your videos. They are so immersive. But please trim the aircraft. I was constantly moving my thumb while watching as your aircraft wanted to roll to the right 😂
This series is great!!!
Thanks!
Has anyone else noticed that videos originally uploaded in 1080p get divided into 1080p enhanced bitrate (for premium subscribers) or budget 1080 for those who don't want to and very rightly shouldn't pay for "premium pixels"? Any video uploaded in QHD or above is freely available with no "pay extra" option for resolution. I've seen this coming for a couple of years at least but soon YT will be charging extra for content based on the tier or resolution you are willing to shell out for.
Does it show you an After Action Report? Would love to see it. Great Vid!
Loving this!
Did you use that tense music in dogfights in previous series? I mus say it is very cool!
Nicely done, Wolf.
Thank you
Very nice
When did your bombs land on target? They never have in the past.
This is great, different vibe to IL2 that's for sure! Question is though, for WW2 stuff, what do you prefer, IL2 or DCS? :)
flight lead: that was poorly executed
ffs, call it like it is.
that said, any mission you can walk away from....
As requested.
Watched and Liked 👍
Appreciated!
Love the series so far! What HOTAS system do you use?
I just janes ww2 flight sim remastered T-T
Your content is great! Love it
Glad you enjoy it!
Why would the AI dive bomb in a p51?
HoI4 soundtrack for the win
so cool
have you thought about making il2 career in fw190 d6 or eny other german aircraft?
He's done a few il2 campaigns in German aircraft just look in the playlists
I Like Trains.
That's fine .. but your style of video / editing/ commenting when you lead teh action is best suited to the sub series or controling ground forces etc... But not so much following a leader :-)
Did they include the famous mission when you blow up that tiger on the bridge as captain miller is unloading his colt 45 at it while dying?
ABOUT TIME!!!
Love your content mate. What do you use the eye track?
I use track ir
Is it not possible to show kills and medals
No, not really. Not like in IL-2 anyway
nice 👌👌
Wish we could see the stats
I see a lot of video of DCS with STUNNING graphics. It's just mine, or you have a better pc? I have 32 GB of RAM, Rayzen 7 7700x 8 core, up to 5,4 GHz and a RTX4070 ti with 12 GB. Everything is fluid, 160 fps even in fog, heavy clouds and rains.....but my graphic is horrible, especially at dawn. I see a lot of pixels over the horizon, when the clouds are touching the mountains and if i look far away from me. Any suggest? I have a very good pc, but i can't figure out where the problem is. From my hardware? From my monitor? Or my graphic options? Everything is set to max. Maybe color grading or DLSS setting? I hope you'll answer...
Do you have your zoom in & out set to a predetermined fov? I can’t figure out how you’re keeping it so consistent and able to do it in the middle of a furball.
I have it on an axis actually. I have also used it on a 2 way hat before and that works pretty well too.
holy shit what were those screams?
Yea scared the f out of me
just wanted to say Ive been watching your videos for a long time and absolutely love them, it would be super cool if you might have a look at that multiplayer first person submarine game, i cant remember the name sadly but im sure you know that one.
I'm pretty sure you're talking about wolfpack, fitting name right. He has a couple videos of it just search: wolfpack wolfpack haha
@BudderCraft526 I think you're right you know, wolfpack-section haha would be fun to revisit though perhaps
Been looking to do some more Wolfpack content soon!
Hey whats up wolfpack, say, what controls are you using? You have HOTAS? Listen rule NO one: NEVER leave your wingman brother. Its a game, but its real. ;-) Thanks for the content
Yup I have a virple mongoose hotas.
@@Wolfpack345 Thats awsome. Its nothing like DCS, is it..
Do you have a group ? looking for group to join. A beginner but i can fly P51 sort of lol
What is your setup for DCS, is it playable with keyboard and mouse.
DCS is very hard to play with keyboard and mouse. I would recommend an Thrustmaster T16000A to start with.
I think you only should get credit for 1 kill as both were assisted.
i dont like dcs damage model
My first time being impressed with how crap DCS looks...
Are we looking at the same game?
Hey wolf Can you disable damage labels for future content ? I think it would be better without them
How is the campaign so far? ~Juice (AKA Captain Hively) 🫡
Having a blast with it!
The Microprose European Airwar theme song at the end really opened up some great memories for me! Nice touch!
European air war! Thank you. I knew I'd heard that music somewhere before.
It's a minor thing, but dang. Those flak bursts look straight off of the old in-flight footage. That's a really nice touch.
That 190 was more hole than plane by the time it finally went down :D.
I certainly would like to get my hands on a rediculous GPU for this game.
Awesome! I wish they had done a better job on the pilot textures and the metallic painting thought, doesn't match the high detailed aircraft, but i'm loving the missions with my favorite warbird!
The mustang is one of the older modules. I'm sure we will get a pilot rework sometime in the future.
