I've been skeptical about this. But I do understand how much machine learning has advanced so I'm curious of what specific ways WAVES is utilizing this for helping to master tracks.

Hello, jJeffrey here in Seattle, I have to leave and not be present to post these in the live chat, im hoping somone will on my behalf ask these for me and ill check backtonight here for the responce. Should you mix at 24 Bit? Or 32Bit Float? And second should you mix to Left & right individual discrete tracks, Or Interleved stereo track, Not shared stereo obviously But One interleved grouped stereo track? and if we have for instance Left Right Center, should this be in discrete tracks? and if so how will Midside be decoded : Edit this assuming someone only has those two choices at mix as opposed to 96 or higher for mix.

highly skeptical, While AI and machine learning technologies have made significant advancements in various fields, including music production, there are several reasons why music mastering should not be exclusively done by AI:
Artistic Judgment: Music mastering is not just a technical process; it involves artistic judgment and decision-making. Mastering engineers use their ears and experience to make subjective decisions about how a track should sound, considering factors like tone, dynamics, and overall balance. AI lacks the ability to make creative and subjective judgments. AI doesn't feel emotion, Music is emotion!
Emotion and Interpretation: Musicians and producers often have specific emotional intentions and artistic interpretations for their music. A human mastering engineer can understand and align with these intentions, making adjustments that enhance the emotional impact of the music. AI lacks the capacity to interpret the emotional nuances of music. AI has no feelings at all.
Adaptability: Music genres and styles vary widely, each with its unique characteristics and sonic requirements. Human mastering engineers can adapt their techniques and approaches to suit the specific needs of a track or album. AI may struggle to adapt effectively to different musical styles and preferences.
Communication: Musicians and producers often have a collaborative relationship with their mastering engineers. They can communicate their artistic vision and preferences, leading to iterative adjustments in the mastering process. AI cannot engage in this level of communication and collaboration.
Unpredictable Variables: Music production can involve unexpected variables and challenges that require creative problem-solving. Human mastering engineers have the flexibility to adapt and address these challenges, while AI may struggle with unpredictable situations.
Quality Control: AI-driven mastering systems are only as good as the data they've been trained on. If the training data doesn't represent the full diversity of musical styles and production techniques, AI may produce suboptimal results.
Lack of Intuition: Mastering engineers often rely on intuition and a deep understanding of audio to make decisions that enhance the final sound. AI lacks human intuition and may not always make the subtle adjustments needed to achieve the best possible result.
Artistic Identity: Mastering engineers often contribute to the artistic identity of a recording, helping to shape its unique sonic character. AI-generated masters may lack the individualized touch that a human mastering engineer can provide.
While AI can be a valuable tool in music production and can assist with certain aspects of mastering, such as automatic loudness normalization, it should be seen as a complement to human expertise rather than a replacement. Many musicians and producers continue to value the artistry, creativity, and nuanced decision-making that skilled human mastering engineers bring to the process.

I have tried all the online mastering services both digital and analog (ARIA, Access Analog), and I must say that in terms of digital mastering I was pleasantly surprised with the results of Waves, very solid and balanced with analog "flavor" (although it is not) especially in the bass, midrange clarity and stereo separation, it is above its competitors like LANDR or Slate Digital. The better your mix is the better results you will get, it is obvious but it must be said that it is not magic.

Hello. Sorry for the offtopic, but i have a question. I have amphions 2&15. While my amphion amplifier and monitor s were on, i connected my lap to the external audiocard. And at the same time, my amphions gave me huge f*cking kick, speakers moved forward and backward several times.
How to determine whether i can work with them or not
Thanks for the answer in advance!

It just baffles me each time new approaches pops up about automated "Mastering". Why would anybody want that and why should we as music and art creators strive for this?
Only one answer : profiting on people who think there is easy solutions to complex matters.
For me both as a music lover, creator and a mastering engineer "Mastering" has not a lot to do with gear, tech and making everything sound like everything else. NO! What it is is about is communication between human beings and the ability to feel and listen to music as the first listener and to understand the clients vision and maybe enhance the final result based upon experience and musical insight. In other words it's a personal human service based on the ability to have an emotional connection with the human art form called music. On a positive note I do not see the prospect of a plug-in or other digital AIs to achieve this extraordinary ability in the near future. Sorry for the rant, but I just get SO tired of this type of misrepresentation of the term "Mastering".

I don't think services like this are geared toward the same people who would even consider hiring a mastering engineer Crash. I make my living mixing and mastering as well so I fully understand where you are coming from but these kinds of services are geared for beginners and people who may not be able to afford the services of someone like us. Those people should have a way to prepare their songs they best they can too. Again, I fully understand your point but I think you may be looking at these services the wrong way. Hopefully you can see where I'm coming from.

As a mastering guy myself I actually like comparing what I would do with ai sometimes and might end up taking the ai master and tweaking to taste as I did recently with the one free credit Waves offered, worked out really well on the tune I used..

I am still a bit sceptical, but watching this i think waves can do a lot better than izotope and the likes. I still don't want to hand over my mix to an AI service - and yet, if it becomes my AI assistant, i'm all in❤
