Gaijin you are looking too much into it xD. De have seen first hand how devastating elder Dragons and deviants can be. Besides, that's how you actually pronouns Lagiacrus
if i were gaijin i will go completely silenced for a few months just to humor this theory :D :D :D just not sure who will the community blame for this... rurikhan, the guild for silencing him or the galactic imperial machine that is operated by the Palpatine's
With how well that exact thing works on the Helldivers adds I'm surprised too, specially since the guild has been a bit weird and with a lot of secrecy.
Later that day John "gaijin" hunter was found dead in his home. The body had signs of having been beaten repeatedly by a blunt, large object and the high authorities of Dundorma have ruled the incident as suicide. Investigation about the strange circumstances of his death is hereby forbidden by the guild, and any who defy this rule shall be prosecuted with the full weight of the law.
It's hilarious to me that there's these people watching a video made by a guy that is known to have lived and breathed this franchise for years if not decades, and they're wondering why he's gushing about his favorite game and its lore.
11:52 How so? Plenty of Hunters and Guild members do love and respect the monsters (some to arguably unhealthy degrees), and we saw in Sunbreak that hunting with hatred (as Kagero attempts against Amatsu) is condemned and not allowed. I think it is fair to say Hunters exert great influence on the world. In the movie Legends of the Guild, Julius alludes to how in the time before the Guild unrestrained hunting led to severe ecological disasters. How well the games convey their intended message is debatable (a lot of individual quests have laughable justifications), but the makers of the games have made it clear that the intent is genuinely to portray humanity as part of a balanced ecosystem that works with nature rather than against it.
'watches 10 minutes of a video that picks every single sentence apart of hypocrisy and exposing the propaganda, then you raise your hand to call out how this one statement is incorrect.' yet it's funny how hatred was never once said to be the motivation for killing monsters but you are strawmanning that one detail to misdirect an entire concept as justification for everything else?
@@petercottantail7850 I made two other posts explaining some other points of contention I had with the video. Apologies for not putting them all in one place. I also addressed other disagreements and my reasons for them in the very post you replied to (namely that Hunters do exert a great influence on the world, and that the makers of the games have made it clear that the Guild/Hunters are meant to be trying to live in balance with nature). Regarding hatred, I brought it up as evidence the Guild does not want Hunters to see monsters as enemies to be exterminated.
I think they are completely sincere. The video was an excellent introduction to the vibe of monster hunter. "There is no thirst for violence, only an appreciation of life." is justification by necessity because of the context of the game in which 90% of it is battling monsters in mortal combat. This is to give the rightful impression that the perspective is not that of some battle hungry barbarian but an educated and mindful individual trained to combat ecological threats. The money spent on this video is to set the vibe for people new to the series, this is not supposed to be some grand obfuscation. I think at most we will see glimmers of foul play like we did with the Alatreon story in iceborne.
I think this video is just a alternative interpretation of what is really just a quick overview for people who don't know what MonHun is about. Personally I think Gaijin is giving the writers of that video far too much credit because what he sees as (presumably intentional) propaganda I see as somewhat clumsy world building, which is fine since it's just an introduction, and diving too deep off the bat would just alienate the target audience.
Gaijin hunter is in on it. This is like demolition man. Gaijin hunter sets us up to revolt against the guild but did anyone stop and ask themselves what he has to gain from all this?
I started as a young guild hunter. I was sent to a village on the sea, Moga. The guild had me investigate their culture and even their stories. Over time I faced things never seen before. I went from a foreigner in this place to learning their ways and even their hunting tactics. But, the guild was not kind to me and my new home. I was reassigned to a caravaan in the east... I left Moga, left Tanzia, and went to the deserts and steppes of my old land. As I watched for this caravaan and eventually fellow hunters, I witnessed a virus destroy ecosystems and even a migration of a species rately seen. Eventually I a now more mature hunter was tasked with exploring the new world. So much happened in this new world I cant even cover it. But yet I still yearn to return to Moga. My rank has been reset time and again, but it makes sense to me as a guild hunter. I joined for adventure and glory, I stayed for the cultures and knowledge. The guild has it's secrets, even I have uncovered some, but with my new journey into the forbidden lands, I have yet to see what will happen. Good luck fellow hunters!
I wouldn't be surprised if the Fatalis story is literally continued from Iceborne, so we will fight Crimson next in Wilds or its expansion, and it will involve the NPC and Guild and continue where Iceborne ended.
-I love how some people are taking this so seriously lol- Yes, its actual propaganda that was made by the guild. You are being brainwashed by them. Don't give in. Gaijin is there to save us, he will tell the truth that was hidden inside the video.
We can argue all we want about applying real world scrutiny to the sincerity of the guild. But in the end it's waterproof. Monster Hunter's setting completely justifies itself. The job that hunters have, humanity's general role in the natural world, and their desire to do good, are all justified in-universe. The only real cracks in things appear once we force real world understandings of ecology into this setting, which we're not really supposed to do
I absolutely disagree. The Guild is canonically shown to be fallible and not always on the right side of history. I do believe the Guild is diegetically considered to be made up of mostly good people, but can we forget about the way the handled the Razewing Ratha? How about the Equal Dragon Weapon? The TOWER made ENTIERLY out of Kushala Daora parts?
@@adamorth5335 razewing ratha is indeed a thing to take note of, but then again, there was an evil wyverian guy with great influence that was corrupting the situation. but equal dragon weapon and the tower are NOT guild related assets, they date back to before that and were results of unrestricted hunting and disregard from respecting nature, if anything the guild uses those things as examples to justify their talk abotut respecting nature.
@@adamorth5335 the EDW isnt canon and the tower wasnt the guild that was many centuries or decades before the guilds existence EDIT: even if the EDW was canon it still wasn't the guild who made it
@@adamorth5335 as in taking Razewing Ratha alive and giving our character the chance to prove his innocence? Those were the actual Guild actions, the Oltura cult simply had some members who had infiltrated the Guild and proceeded to take their own actions.
One of the things I noticed in this video is the idea that the Guild just kinda takes credit for everything. They talk about dispensing knowledge, but they don’t talk about working with the Royal Paleontology Scriveners or the Elder Dragon Observatory, or the Wycademy etc. for example. They seemingly take total credit for the Elder Crossing Research Commission, and they talk about how hunters are such amazing renaissance men and women (they aren’t, when you speak to them as NPCs, and the game makes no requirement of it from the player) but they don’t talk about all the scholars that were the heart and mind of the commission where the hunters were the hired muscle supplied by the guild.
I typed a long and proper explanation but YT tweaked and my comment was lost, so I'll just hit some points. I disagree with your implications - what are people supposed to do, just stand there and let monsters massacre them because Nature-good Humans/Guild-bad?? No I think you are reaching. Yes, the video is in propaganda format. The actual problem is the new G3 lore: G1 is Fatalis and Ancient Civ and G2 is Alatreon, possibly with Gore Magala and Dalamadur. B series titles are gaiden and not main canon. It was a mistake to add Fatalis into 4U and Iceborne in my opinion for this very reason. Iceborne confirms Tri as its canon because they reference the player exploits at the Sacred Land where Alatreon was hiding. They also mention the human conflict you loathe, happened behind scenes and how the (humanoid) faction destroy all records of such an abomination(master of all elements and weather manipulation) much to the DETRIMENT of the Guild. It also goes to show that the Guild is not as all powerful as you claim. In 4U it wasn't even the Guild but Wyverian archeology that tells the Hunter to killl Gore before it reaches maturity and to prevent The Calamity where they failed to slay Gore on time and the ecosystem was wiped from the mons slaughtering each other. Guild summoned the Aces to research and track Gore, the Wyverians were like nope: kill it with FIRE People also have to understand that being a Hunter is just one of many life paths/careers in the universe of MH. This was obvious in the old games but the new games focus less and less on the worldbuilding and more on the material farming/quest spamming. So its not like the Guild controls everything but it has become a useful institution for many ventures including trading and economy. Example are the Argosy Captain is no Hunter but is a powerful LS user with his Dirty Fencing that kills mons to protect his crew but was unable to defeat Brachydios. The Fishing Fleet are just fishermen but also fight monsters. Dundorma is hotspot for monster activity so the city was built to withstand siege even from an Elder Dragon. Monster killing is not a Guild thing Moga Village had the best idea - they live on a floating village to avoid monsters and only venture into the island when it is safe as told by Junior who learned to track from his dad, Village Chief and retired Guild Hunter. They only need a Hunter to defend against Lagiacrus, village nemesis, because it can reach the village and its an Apex tier monster. This is why the plot line had the Chief tell the player to kill Lagiacrus but it turns out Ceadus was the culprit of almost destroying their village. Moga actively tries to stay away from monsters, eats what it kills and uses the commodities because they have no money in the end of nowhere.
My personal head cannon is that the Hunters Guild similar to organizations in real live, it was originally brought upon the good intentions. The humanoid races did mess up the ecosystem in the past (e.i. Ancient Civilization/Dragon War) and they made a organization to help regain harmony with nature/monster while also recovering from disaster. As we see in the games there are good and genuine hunters and researchers who do really want to study and keep the balance of nature. However, similar to real life, as time goes on and organizations grow and expand, though mission goals seem to remain the same, there are also people that gain power in this organization. This power allows them to do some unsavory stuff, to cover up what they done they try to control the narrative. I do not believe they are completely evil, but again compare it to real live where organizations that to bring a lot of good and help to people, can also have some bad spots.
If the lore on Fatalis’s weapons and armor is to be taken seriously, it wouldn’t be completely crazy to assume the Fatalis we fight in Iceborne used to be a hunter wearing Fatalis armor. Fatalis inevitably regenerates after all. I’m not saying that the hunter is in Fatalis somewhere but he dissolved during the process. You see Fatalis attempt something similar during the fight, it’s grab attack where it tries to melt you to its body. This would explain why the Guild pretends they don’t know anything because the truth is REALLY bad. You can’t kill Fatalis.
I know a lot of people miss the early days when the guild and people in general were more comedically shady. And thats very valid. But i kinda prefer the new direction. I just think it's nice and sweet to have a series where more often than not, people are very earnestly in love with the world
Its been that for so long though, some depth into what goes on in the background, the bureaucracy, would be cool. Is there corruption in this system? I do want to know more about the world outside of the hunting part.
Stories 1 and 2 also made me kinda more cautious of the Guild as well. I think its neat that MH has been around long enough that the creatives are getting to put these little things in for people to either interpret or find lol
As a criminal mercenary hired by the guild to evade my sentence, I can say for certain there is no corruption or propaganda being carried out by the guild
I think the the world isn't reeeeaally meant to be taken this seriously. I always compare Monster hunter to pokemon, there are several gaps (politics, economy and even timeline) in the setting that are not meant to be filled. MH walks a fine line cause visually it wants to be as realistic as possible for immersion, but I think it stops there. But I might be missing something, I started with 3U, which I didnt 100%, skipped 4 and generations to come back for World and Rise.
Tomorrow there's going to be another video starting with these words "Hey fellows, this is Gaijin Monster Hunter, please pay no attention to my slightly different voice. Anyway, I wanted to apologize to the Guild for my recent video and to say that there's absolutely no Fatalis-related conspiracy. Until next occasion, lovely hunting!"
1 thing I do disagree with is that I do think its respectful to use all the parts of a monster you just killed as to not waste the life you just took that is assuming you didn't kill it just to kill it. Humans are animals just like the monsters are and we all gotta eat and defend our selfs and somtimes that confict results in death so why not respect the monster you just murdered by using all the resources it left behind like how a monster may eat another one after a battle, it would also be using the resources of the monster it just killed for energy. Though I do think just like in real life humans over step how important they think we are in trying to control nature or completely ignore it and do more harm than good and I don't know about the guild specifically but I do think hunters and researchers in general do generally actively care about the environment and monster's and this could be a case of the higher ups having a different motive than everyone else which would make it effective propaganda on their end
Further, monsters readily kill each other over territory and resources. Humans in the setting can be considered to have a right to do the same toward monsters, within reason of course.
My first watch I was only half paying attention to the video (and Daisy Ridley knocked the narration out of the park so I was focused on that), but the second time it definitely noticed the warped take on Hunters and the propaganda machine (which I might add totally worked on me lol). I agree that there shouldn't be a huge focus on the Guild politics and whatever schemes they have in mind going into Wilds, but I think that will at least be a point of contrast between the Guild and Nata's people and all of the indigenous people we meet for that matter that don't have hunters!
I hope in the future a full video dedicated to the great mystery of Monster Hunter: "the powerful knees of hunters, capable of withstanding falls of thousands of meters."
Guild was never the "good guys" were humans . We like power, we like killing. Expanding. If you really think about it. Humans kill monster only for theme salfe not for balance. Only one time it was Acceptable. The frenzy incident.
I'm pretty sure the guild has ALWAYS been a little dubious. Considering a lot of quests are awfully frivolous. For every genuine "Monster is blocking trade routes" quest we have a dozen "I want a pet Royal Ludroth! Get me one!" quests. The guild is not a purely good entity, and it's about time we see some of those bad aspects in the story itself imo
i agree in a way because yeah the hunters guild are very dubious at times but i know its a region no one step foot for who know how long and been called a forbidden lands is there might be something hidden there but what is scaring the guild so much that it sounded like it was a taboo area the guild knows something we dont but question is what it is
Regardless of anything else, we do know the Guild has been around for centuries and yet as far as we know it has not driven any monsters to extinction (Arkveld is from before their time), so we can say they have established sustainable hunting practices to some degree. 10:02 What evidence is there that the Guild has known about Fatalis as a monster for a long time? As I recall they went to Schrade because so many disasters were happening that were heralds of Fatalis (and our Hunter was summoned because they were so accomplished), but they were not sure at all about what Fatalis was. The official stance is that until this time the term "Fatalis" was a way to describe an event rather than a creature, retroactively making any mission against a Fatalis in past games non-canon. They know these events are threats to the world since the last time it happened it destroyed a kingdom. Also, the reference to not knowing the origins of Elder Dragons, and then to not being able to comprehend what Fatalis is, seem like different things to me. The latter is more about Fatalis as an individual organism, how alien it is said to be compared to other monsters, rather than about origins of life.
There's raw destructive tendencies of monsters in general and Elder Dragons in particular. The little movie they did showed a pretty good job at what a divergent Elder Dragon can do to not just humans but the ecosystem. We know that if Jho is left uncheck it will eat literally everything until it runs out. And that does mean everything. It's like a polar bear but instead of human expansion and climate impact ruining it's hunting ground, it ruins it's own and everything elses hunting ground. When the hunter was investigating frenzy, it was rooted in apex monsters disrupting the ecosystems and displacing other monsters. Sending off Ceadeus wasn't a kill quest, it was just to protect Moga. The oneness of nature isn't that different from the general statements you could read in Empire's Tracks. Being thankful for what you kill and paying respect by not being wasteful. Most towns don't live in hyper industrial hellscapes but are carved into the environment and live alongside nature. Tigrex popping up and overfeeding on the Popo? The guild's got you. We'll get a hunter who can grow alongside and with your village. Our hunter in Pokke village was sent for when Pokke village's original hunter suffered a permanent injury. Remember Moga village? "Nature provides Moga Village with everything we need. The woods and the sea are our castle, and it's a good one". These are people who had to SEND for a hunter (us). It's a mindset held by everybody in this world. In furtherance to the nature talk, monsters JUST being dangerous wasn't enough for them to send for our player character. "We villager can't go very far into the woods. The monsters out there tend to love us --- for dinner."". It was only after Lagiacrus and Ceadeus start destabilizing the land to an untenable degree that they called for us. Our hunter in 4, started their journey just wanting to BE a hunter. And we got involved with Dah'ren particularly because it was surfing towards Val Harber. And the hunters don't kill it, they simply drive it away. A lot of the hunter chatter from 1 to Freedom to Tri to World usually touches lightly on the balance that's met. While I know Stories isn't cannon, it's interesting that even in the heart of the capital, nature flourishes. The main point being that it's hard to think the guild would need propaganda when the world is in harmony with itself and the only things that for sure get hunted on sight are invasive species that's bad for both humans AND wyverns.
As interesting as this take is, I would really hate it if the guild was evil. Part of why I love MonHun is the aspect of humanity working together. If the guild is shady, i'd think it'd be in a Men In Black kinda way of controlling information for the sake of keeping the peace, as in "things are bad but if people knew it'd be panic" which is why I'd guess they burnt the info on the Alatreaon. Dumb move but imagine what the public would think were those documents leaked. Now, there's a thing I'm curious about tho, what does the guild think about hunters capable of taking down these legends. Does the Guild fear the beasts they send to fight monsters?
Far as we see the more capable the Hunter the more they are celebrated. Using Hunter weapons against humans is forbidden, and its implied the Guild is well equipped to handle Hunters that go rogue (though given an example in the Legends of the Guild movie, if you simply go rogue by leaving the Guild there is no inherent punishment).
I was roped into a pull up competition in high school when The Guild visited for an orientation week on careers. I thought they were just interested in our physical skills but they got me to sign up to questing, which I’ve been hooked on since 2005
Honestly, I'd prefer the questionable dealings of the guild to remain purely as subtext. The only part of the video that I found worth speculating about was the end where they showed the wilds logo, which was making a distinct mechanical sound, like some sort of heavy machinery or a lock or something.
It’s not just the guild that is a little sketchy when it comes to hunting monsters. Remember the first wyverian in Monster Hunter World? They task us to “conquer” a Rathalos & Diablos. No threat… Simply just to prove that we are stronger, and worthy enough to take on a stronger opponent.
I'm curious about what Gaijin thinks of the story in MHStories 2? I know that game is not really considered "canon" and there's a couple of plot holes and story feels rushed in certain parts but I actually liked the fact that they showed groups inside the guild that were conspiring with "doomsday riders", like they actually showed hunters being somewhat evil and there being a lot of different opinions inside the guild. It's still very shallow and kinda childish but that made me more interested in the story overall, even if the end result was predictable.
Great breakdown. I guess I never paid too much attention to how shady The Guild is. Wouldnt surprise me though. Just remember the true monsters are the ones we became along the way!
also humourously, in both the story of world and iceborne the hunter always killed the wrong monster first(i.e. the natural balance mechanism) and create problem before being forced to fix it themself
The monsters aren't being farmed like we farm our monsters IRL. And they do kill humans in that world. When was the last time you heard about someone getting killed by a cow? Your arguments relate that world to this one far too much. I also think lore wise we only hunt these monsters once. You have to ignore the gameplay loop to an extent for the monster hunter lore to make sense. Ignore the fact that you just hunted that monster 18 times. You hunted it once according the games lore. Also, yeah she does pronounce Lagiacrus correctly.. I know people have never liked that pronunciation but this isn't the first time it's been said allowed on an official Capcom video, and it was said the same way in the older video as well.
I know you don’t like talking about this, but when Ridley mentions secrets being uncovered the dragon symbol made mechanical noises, which could imply they are talking about something like the equal dragon weapon. So far it does seem like there might be a chance we will be at ends with the guild or at least disagree with something
It really reminds me of when I worked at a Nature Reserve. I'm Scottish, living in Central Scotland, and there's a native species of plant known as bracken/brachen a.k.a Pteridium Aquilinum, which the Scottish Wildlife Trust(Guild) spends time, money(petrol), and manpower culling almost daily to make way for the plants that were imported here in the Victorian Era, those plants are "prettier" and therefore more desirable but sometimes struggle to survive on their own especially with Brachen being so stubborn(wanting to live), which is really all that Nature preservation is about at the end of the day, playing favourites and trying to bend nature to your whims, which is absurd because nature is literally perfect aside from when humans mess with it, take for example the native red squirrels of Scotland who would have naturally all died out if they weren't preserved by humans as they are now due to greys being imported long ago. The big greys eat all the reds's food and they in turn starve and are obviously unable to reproduce, but us being stubborn refuse to let that happen and refuse to let them to die out because we as humans just think the wee red squirrels are so damn cute, they exist for our amusement, they may aswell be zoo animals in that sense. So "hunters" are literally created to cull the grey population who let's be honest have basically done nothing wrong so that the reds can survive on artificially. It's like how there are no wolves in Scotland anymore, so hunters are constantly having to cull the ridiculously large deer population in a neverending cycle. When you go out for a walk in the countryside where I live you constantly hear rifles(bowguns) firing as the far away ringing echoes throughout the hills. It's unnatural. ...Anyway, great video as always, Gaijin Hunter!
But the gray squirrels are only there because they were introduced by humans. Hence people cull them to mitigate a problem they created. Also the red squirrels are found across a huge range and are still common in most of it. They survive just fine when competing with native species.
@@Ryodraco Really? If that's the case then it really is just the Wildlife Trust's propaganda as they constantly call for people to be on the lookout for Greys and to report sightings of them outside of the major cities(so the grey squirrels can be culled). I've never heard of them competing. From what I've been told the Greys are the reason for the red squirrels decline. I mean, this was back in 2018 so I don't know how much has changed since then. I'm saying that they should have let nature take it's course rather than trying to preserve something because they had personal attachment to it, that's wrong. And from what I can tell, in the UK, Reds can only be found in Scotland nowadays, I remember people coming to visit the wildlife centre from England with their families excited to see their first ever red squirrel. I looked it up and the wildlife trust's website says: "Scotland and Ireland are where the red squirrel now has its main strongholds. In England, red squirrels only survive on the Isle of Wight and Brownsea Island, where there are no greys, on the Formby coast, and in the extensive pine forests of Northumberland and the Lake District." they're basically exclusive to places in which the greys don't occupy, I mean, the lake district is literally on the boarder of Scotland, meaning as soon as you reach it, you'll start seeing reds(supposedly.) The American Red Squirrel and European Red Squirrel are different species, Tamiasciurus hudsonicus and Sciurus vulgaris, respectively. So while they are technically everywhere they are not really the same. Sorry for the long reply, I hope you read it, Thank you!

Very excellent analysis! You may be on to something but i also share your sentiment in not wanting all the mysteries of the Guild and world to be revealed.
I disagree when you say that they shouldn't expand on the lore of the series or incorporate any kind of human drama Monster Hunter's universe is very interesting, and it would be shame to see them just do the same story over and over again
a month too late to the convo but tbf it would be interesting if they were to start showing the shady part of the guild a bit more in wilds, I'm probably reading too much into it myself but maybe there is a reason why we are getting the Hunter's Guild layered armer set as a pre-order X)
I think you overthink it. Wilds is the first main line entry that starts right out of the gate with the expectation to be a double digit million copy seller. These pieces of content are intended for people relatively new to Monster Hunter or who haven’t played a MH game before. That’s why they picked Ridley as narrator and prominently featured her in the title.
I definitely think this was just aimed at bringing in more people. Especially to bring in someone famous like daisy ridley. I like the theory that the guild has an agenda but I doubt it will be much of a thing in the actual story
I'm so glad you're putting out MH content again. Don't get me wrong, I love most of the games you've covered, been a huge fan of xiv for the past 10 years. Having consumed your content since your 4U guides, i find you to be a pillar of the MH community and your videos always have a certain heartwarming charm compared to most MH content creators. Though I've been a fan of MH since first gen, somehow got lucky and stumbled upon a copy through a friend, I feel like your content has elevated my enjoyment of the series and I'm sure many other can say the same. Keep doing what you're doing and we'll keep supporting you! Aside from that general comment, I felt the same way about the Daisy Ridley narrated video, something about it irked me and rubbed me the wrong way in the language and presentation. I'm glad you could help put my feelings into words. Not that it was bad, but it did very much feel like awkward propaganda.
My theory was that each subsequent generation is actually the generation earlier in the time line, and that we would eventually learn about the ancient civilization by becoming it. At the end of each generation we have an epic fight to fight, and to put a sad twist on it, we lose that fight, and a lot of tech with it. But this video kind of put a nail in that thought. As far as the guild being nefarious, I like to think back to MH4u with the "Egg-straction" quest line. Doing these egg delivery quests unlocks a Fatalis quest. Why would Fatalis care? Probably because this branch of the guild is secretly breading monsters, which would anger Fatalis. My thoughts are that Valstrax was the result of it, and why parts of Valstrax seem artificial, because they were really equipment meant to control it. (Idk, I'm still working that part out.)
Okayyyyyy! I was a bit confused about how this video went out. I thought the text was weird and shady, but never considered it could be interpreted as something diegetic to MH... This makes sense!
Now read it in a perspective of a person who are in their world, where going outside is so dangerous that you would rather stay on your home yet, home is not really a safe place around, modern people who are not in danger in anytime would call this propaganda a suspicious, but for people in that world their message is like coming from God.
I am here with Gaijin that the Guild is not ALL good! Heck even in Iceborne, the 3rd fleet master revealed that there are figures within that ordered the eradication of Alatreon related research
Considering that during the demo we arrive in the wilds locale and go "what do you mean, there are people living here successfully and have never heard of the guild!?!" The colonial implications are real. Make me wonder if the villagers from the wilds will have their own take.
so let the monsters cull humans instead!? is the act of culling monsters(not your normal animal by the way!) the problem or the way they say things to make it sound less barbaric and brutal? because if thee problem is the latter then there is no problem at all! This reminds me of the problem bout humans acting more sympathetic towards other than their own kind! it's just a game but their is thought in there.

How well the games convey their intended message is debatable (a lot of individual quests have laughable justifications), but the makers of the games have made it clear that the intent is genuinely to portray humanity as part of a balanced ecosystem that works with nature rather than against it.
That's what a Guild member would say
this comment has been certified by the Hunter's Guild
'watches 10 minutes of a video that picks every single sentence apart of hypocrisy and exposing the propaganda, then you raise your hand to call out how this one statement is incorrect.'
yet it's funny how hatred was never once said to be the motivation for killing monsters but you are strawmanning that one detail to misdirect an entire concept as justification for everything else?
Sounds like somethin that someone from the Guild would say...
Either the propaganda is working or you're part of the Guild 😂😂
I'm pretty sure you're indocrinated
I think this video is just a alternative interpretation of what is really just a quick overview for people who don't know what MonHun is about. Personally I think Gaijin is giving the writers of that video far too much credit because what he sees as (presumably intentional) propaganda I see as somewhat clumsy world building, which is fine since it's just an introduction, and diving too deep off the bat would just alienate the target audience.
@nicholasmarquez3399 nooo i would never
Gaijin hunter is in on it.
-I love how some people are taking this so seriously lol-
Yes, its actual propaganda that was made by the guild. You are being brainwashed by them. Don't give in. Gaijin is there to save us, he will tell the truth that was hidden inside the video.
this would actually be pretty cool if its meant to be a setup to a guild plot in wilds something we havent really seen explored before
We can argue all we want about applying real world scrutiny to the sincerity of the guild.
Im doing my part.
I'm doing my part!
I'm doing my part
im doing my part!
Scarlet-dressed man: "The Guild is always been your ally and friend, you can trust me mate."
I typed a long and proper explanation but YT tweaked and my comment was lost, so I'll just hit some points.
I disagree with your implications - what are people supposed to do, just stand there and let monsters massacre them because Nature-good Humans/Guild-bad?? No
I think you are reaching.
Guild summoned the Aces to research and track Gore, the Wyverians were like nope: kill it with FIRE
People also have to understand that being a Hunter is just one of many life paths/careers in the universe of MH. Monster killing is not a Guild thing
Moga Village had the best idea - they live on a floating village to avoid monsters and only venture into the island when it is safe as told by Junior who learned to track from his dad, Village Chief and retired Guild Hunter.
I know a youth propaganda recruitment video from the guild when I see one!
I really like this interpretation.
„Nothing is wasted“
(Me with the equivalent of a thousand monsters in my item bix): uhhhh about that….
As a criminal mercenary hired by the guild to evade my sentence, I can say for certain there is no corruption or propaganda being carried out by the guild
lol I expected this video from Rurikhan considering he was usually the one pushing anti guild story
This was priceless. The Guild PR person been working double time for this.
The video makes me want an official David Attenborough style video on the ecology of the monsters
Broke: hunters hunt the monster
Woke: hunters are the monster
Bespoke: guild kinda sus
I think the the world isn't reeeeaally meant to be taken this seriously. I always compare Monster hunter to pokemon, there are several gaps (politics, economy and even timeline) in the setting that are not meant to be filled. MH walks a fine line cause visually it wants to be as realistic as possible for immersion, but I think it stops there. But I might be missing something, I started with 3U, which I didnt 100%, skipped 4 and generations to come back for World and Rise.
yeah it's literally a fantasy world, it doesn't work like ours because it's MADE UP
Tomorrow there's going to be another video starting with these words "Hey fellows, this is Gaijin Monster Hunter, please pay no attention to my slightly different voice.
His Immenseness has invited you to Dundorma. 🙂🙂🙂
Dear God I really hope Capcom don't go down the route of making the guild be some secret bad guy. I just like enjoying the whimsical world of MH.
Why not? Diving into the deeper lore is something they SHOULD do
Guild was never the "good guys" were humans .
YES! But I still believe there could be some kinda nuance, the guild acts a little suspicious at times.
i agree in a way because yeah the hunters guild are very dubious at times but i know its a region no one step foot for who know how long and been called a forbidden lands is there might be something hidden there but what is scaring the guild so much that it sounded like it was a taboo area the guild knows something we dont but question is what it is
Regardless of anything else, we do know the Guild has been around for centuries and yet as far as we know it has not driven any monsters to extinction (Arkveld is from before their time), so we can say they have established sustainable hunting practices to some degree.
Therefore, we must accept that mankind must stand first above all else. For a new Imperium
23:12 that's the point of the trailers though. This is a video to look back on once you fully understand the story
never question the Hunters Guild of Super Earth! They have the environment always in mind!
Remember: GaijinHunter is not suicidal
Imagine facing a wild hunter, a guildless, in battle. Would be pretty cool as a one-off
i always thought it was strange the felyns in the wild always tried to attack us, not just the melynx either. actually outcasts is very suss
Are you sheltering enemies of the Guild?
I was roped into a pull up competition in high school when The Guild visited for an orientation week on careers. I thought they were just interested in our physical skills but they got me to sign up to questing, which I’ve been hooked on since 2005
As a guild knight of the ministry of truth im going to have to ask you to stop
The Hunter guild is going full Helldivers 2 Super Earth mode (and now i want a cross over between the 2 games...)
Undemocratic thinking i would say.
They used the customer service approach in that video, **Positive Scripting**
also humourously, in both the story of world and iceborne the hunter always killed the wrong monster first(i.e. the natural balance mechanism) and create problem before being forced to fix it themself
Man now I wanna a game where we play as a guild knight instead hunting monsters we hunt and assasinate rogue hunters or poachers, maybe a spinoff 🤔
Narrated by a Palpatine. Guild propaganda sounds about right.
I love your interpretation, hope for more hints about guilds shady side in Wilds :)
I know you don’t like talking about this, but when Ridley mentions secrets being uncovered the dragon symbol made mechanical noises, which could imply they are talking about something like the equal dragon weapon. So far it does seem like there might be a chance we will be at ends with the guild or at least disagree with something
Elite Strategies and tactics? Hold my kelbi-bow!
In England, red squirrels only survive on the Isle of Wight and Brownsea Island, where there are no greys, on the Formby coast, and in the extensive pine forests of Northumberland and the Lake District." they're basically exclusive to places in which the greys don't occupy, I mean, the lake district is literally on the boarder of Scotland, meaning as soon as you reach it, you'll start seeing reds(supposedly.)
The American Red Squirrel and European Red Squirrel are different species, Tamiasciurus hudsonicus and Sciurus vulgaris, respectively. So while they are technically everywhere they are not really the same.
Sorry for the long reply, I hope you read it, Thank you!
monster hunter wild going to make me vegetarian
1. I play Helldivers.
2. I'm a bonk main.
So everything absolutely went over my head. Except for the part when i concluded for myself that it just means i could bonk more monster's heads.
“I’m going my part! :D”
Stay where you are, we will be sending a Guild rep shortly to confirm your findings 👁️
Very excellent analysis! You may be on to something but i also share your sentiment in not wanting all the mysteries of the Guild and world to be revealed.
Gaijin woke and choose violence 😁
I disagree when you say that they shouldn't expand on the lore of the series or incorporate any kind of human drama
Monster Hunter's universe is very interesting, and it would be shame to see them just do the same story over and over again
I WANT YOU
for the GUILD
ENLIST NOW
Monster Hunter: Shadow of the Guild rpg confirmed!
a month too late to the convo but tbf it would be interesting if they were to start showing the shady part of the guild a bit more in wilds, I'm probably reading too much into it myself but maybe there is a reason why we are getting the Hunter's Guild layered armer set as a pre-order X)
I just came back from enlisting in the hunters guild! I didn't notice the new video!
Yup, i dont even understand how you can come to the same conclusion as GH from watching that video lol
(Idk, I'm still working that part out.)
remember guys gaijinhunter IS NOT SUICIDAL!
If you told me he was reading word for word a Game journo's article, I'd believe it. Poe's law and what not.
Waiting patiently for when the series plays out the "But what if we are the monsters?" card
last boss is actually the guild
That thumbnail is genious btw
I see you're a man of culture too
Is that from the brainwashing dystopian movie?
someone noticed! ^^ the lady with the hammer to wake up the crowd lol
I mean, we have killed monsters for a lot of reasons if you pay attention to the side stories.
In some cases we hunt because of snacks
I am here with Gaijin that the Guild is not ALL good! Heck even in Iceborne, the 3rd fleet master revealed that there are figures within that ordered the eradication of Alatreon related research
oh, I thought it was a joke video 😅
Considering that during the demo we arrive in the wilds locale and go "what do you mean, there are people living here successfully and have never heard of the guild!?!" The colonial implications are real. Make me wonder if the villagers from the wilds will have their own take.
If Helldivers 2 has taught me anything, propaganda goes hard. I'm fine with guild propaganda, especially if it looks cool :)
so let the monsters cull humans instead!? is the act of culling monsters(not your normal animal by the way!) the problem or the way they say things to make it sound less barbaric and brutal? because if thee problem is the latter then there is no problem at all! This reminds me of the problem bout humans acting more sympathetic towards other than their own kind! it's just a game but their is thought in there.
ALL HAIL THE HUNTERS GUILD!!!!
WE NEED YOU!
oh man the whole HUNTERS GUILD conspiracy is starting to spread like " WILD " fire.
You’re tripping and Im loving it
That’d be cool if the guild goes rogue or something like that to where we have a choice to go against it
i really don't want them to lean too much on the lore, the lore is the best when they are mysterious
