- First off, I apologize to the cummins for my mistake in saying that this was a V8 haha, I know it's an inline 6 and just straight up wasn't paying attention. In this video I give a full in depth tour of a 1998 Dodge Ram 2500 Cummins Turbo Diesel. I take viewers on a close look through the interior and exterior of this truck while showing details, over viewing of features, and noting unique styling cues to the vehicle itself. I also show the engine and the details of it, start it up and see how it sounds under acceleration. A thorough tour/review of this truck designed to give others a greater overall appreciation of the vehicle.

The thing I love about Cummins Turbo Diesels is their really mechanical sound. They sound like big rigs or other big work trucks. It's friggin awesome
RebelRanger01 Sounds like a school bus too
So do 7.3's
I could listen to these run all day, Diesels are awesome.
This is the best sounding truck
a mighty beast that roars and whines at the same time
I really love the sound of that truck !!
Okay everybody it not cummings its CUMMINS and its not a V8 or a V6 its an INLINE 6!!!
Cummings just sounds wrong😂😂😂😂😂
He put it in the description relax holy hell
the sound of a cummins turbo diesel is music to my ears. i use to have a 98, the exact the same as this. it's a monster.
had one but was a 1986. it had over 750k and still ran new. those engines will keep going lol
+vscott smitley The Cummins engines will go for millions of miles. That's why I own one. Mine's still being broken in at 176 thousand miles. (it's a 2003 Dodge Ram 2500 24V Cummins)
+ihninja1 niiiiice. yes they do. you can't kill those engines :)
if you maintain them. these trucks are known for bad transmissions so beware of that. cummins motors dont die tho, the truck falls apart before the motor does
10 transmissions later
Dylan McCraw a lot of 2nd gen Ram holds up very good super solid trucks
Love the sound of a dodge cummins ! Glory!!!
My 1999 Ram 2gen hass 420k miles and still runs like new 1st and second generation it’s thes best ones
My truck literally has the same exact rip in the driver side seat in the same exact spot.
Scott DePuy mine too!
Scott DePuy mine does to. Almost all of them are that way from drivers sliding out of the seat when getting out. If you want to make you me seats last, don’t slide your butt on the seat when getting out. :). I replaced my seat cover when I went to the junk yard and got the seat cover for 8 bucks almost flawless seat cover.
Very nice, love the sound of the older diesels.
Love the interior. First tan interior of a dodge of that generation i've ever seen.
I was about to correct you but saw the notation! Great video Kyle, cummins trucks are badass!
Great video Kyle
4:55 gotta love to hear the roaring of a powerful beast :)
Beast 🤣 it’s only 215 horsepower a civic got that much 🤣
I'm glad the steering wheel can turn.
it's an in line 6 not a v8 lol
awesome video keep it up u r doing very good !
I just bought this exact truck yesterday. Even the color is the same.
it's an I6 not a V8.
he probably just made an error.
Dylan Parker 359ci 5.9L I6
195 or 250hp w/manual Trans
400ft/lbs of tourqe
@@aleax5670 Hey man, when did it switch to 24 valve? cause my 98 is a 12 valve.
Bill Williams I agree
Bill Williams 99
The injection pump, which is a $1000+ part, is prone to failure whenever it damn well pleases. People have been able to extend it's life, but you can't keep it from failing forever. General consensus seems to be it's worth getting the older 12 valve trucks to avoid the worry and expense of replacing that pump.
Wow, Best sounding truck like EVER 👏👍👌💪
sounds fantastic
6 cylinder not v8 bro
love the exhaust
6:53 funny, i just got that song out of my head lol
I also love the smell of a running diesel
Oh wow, a cummins v8? That's one of a kind!
It's an l6
best generation of ram, period
Love this.
I want a pickup like this! This is a cool truck! :D
Damn beautiful truck
Dream truck right here
Im a ford guy but I like the old cummins. They're pretty nice
These trucks are a big choice for truck pulling that I'm fully aware of as that Cummins is a beast! 👍🏻
iic I'm 25 to 35 every time you show up for diesel and I have shave 25 to 30 or and I'm a long haul and Bebo 50 - 60 and no very better hi I see 25 to 35 at every time we feel up for diesel and I say 25 to 30 and I'm a long haul and be Bo 5260 and nervous to tank should be better than that no bigger charter that then be good for me me my family I look for bigger charger so I can in and a good night trailer and
Jason Lamphere I'm sorry but I didn't understand most of your comment.
that truck is about as clean as they come, damn
Love love love that diesel growl.
gotta love a sound from a diesel
My dream truck here boys
Nice truck. I bet the new owner was sold seconds into this video. Nicely done even if there were a mistake, it's easily done.
My aunt's got one of these...... it's the 2DR Club Cab, Flame Red Clear Coat with Black Premium Cloth interior and Black interior trim...... has the 5.9L V8 with the Automatic and 4WD in it. Has every option but leather and a sun roof, great stereo too...... and only 32000 miles on it.
Hell keep the rip in the seat it gives the truck character
Do you have any 12V Cummins to show especially second gen?
i love these older ones they sound go manly :D
Older ones were 12 valves, you could get them in this year and below. This one is equipped with a 24 valve though
nice truck
you really know your diesel motors.
Read...the...description...
thank you!!!!!
got to love them cummins i lve them trucks
Childhood memories.
Nice colour
@fastestlapsDOTcom but your right, most off-road diesel engines use the v6 and inline 6 configuration because that really all they need.
He recognised his error way before you did, read the description for god's sake!
V8??? No no no I6
I6??? No no no v6
Lol cummins is inline 6
Bit mistaken

Fantastic truck, lovely sounding engine and it is in very tidy condition, the stereo sounds rubbish though. Although when you have a engine that sounds that nice you don't need the stereo
I...want...this...truck!
These Cummins diesels are very good engines.
so much room to work on stuff under the engine bay... love old pickups.
Who needs a radio when you have a Cummins under the hood!
nice how much did they want for it and if you can, can you make a test drive video of this truck? that would be great
Looks good for chasing tornados.
@92ASC can u do a test drive of that possibly? curious lol oh btw what happened to the tours of the junkers
i'm a ford diesel fan, but i liked this one, although it's a six cylinder, i'm suprised the keyless entry is still with this truck.
The last era of Dodge.
Can't kill a Cummins!
I'm looking to buy me a 7.3 powerstroke right now myself.
@fastestlapsDOTcom well actually GMC/Chevrolet duramax and Ford's powerstroke diesels are both V8 diesel's. Dodge's older models were the only ones with inline 6 engines because they were already high horsepower and torque being a diesel plus it gave good fuel economy. Although dodge does offer a v8 cummins diesel in some older and alot of the new model trucks.
You desperately need to polish those headlights :D
Nice truck though. Just wish it was a 6spd HO and it'd be my dream truck
My dream 😩
Is it still up for sale?
If I win the lottery I want one of these first
iv been waiting for a dodge ram 04 cummins my father has an 04 but this will do
that is sweeeeeeeeeeeeettttttttttt!!!!!!
@stopscrewingaround11 I didn't know Allison transmissions could work well with Cummins engines. My uncle is long done with the days of working yard maintainence so he no longer drives a pick up but the Ram with the cummins was his 1 and only truck the whole time.
My dream truck. But a dually though.
You disgraced that truck with that girly song but keep up the vids
shut up
not that big of a deal lmao who cares
Notice on these models (I have a 1999) that there is no break shift interlock. Not very safe, but to shift you dont need to step on the break. I always do though.
@avick84 yep. Diesels only have on average about 5,000 rpms to give. It can rev more, but the car manufactuer makes it like that so you won't break your engine because it's so big.
***** could you try and find a saturn L-Series and do a video please.
@TheDOWNSOUTHG yeah but those chips tend to wear out the transmissions. its kinda a weak point.
@weegeemike aside form the 7.3 being big as hell, the 6.4 present day diesel has more toque than the 7.3, so big only plays a small role in the performance dept.
what is the mpg ?
can a turbo be installed in the 98 ram 1500?
LOVE THE SOUND OF THE ENGIN!!!!!!! i'd rather 98 to 02 instead of 2014!!!!
Until your fuel pump goes out lol
suzukirm250rider1 I have literally never heard of having that problem. And I've driven Dodge trucks my whole life
There's nothing wrong with the trucks. It's a common problem on 24 Valve Cummins engines. The VP44 pump gets low fuel pressure and it doesn't get lubricated like it should and then the pumps go bad. It's typical on '98-'02 trucks. The P7100 in the 12 Valve trucks don't typically have issues.
Vance Meeks dodge had fuel pump problems with gas engines, its common.
chargerb1 I've got 307,000 miles on my original pump
my dad has the same truck but all the way silver and he has modified it way more than the normal diesel
Is truck sold or still for sale
Sweeeet!
My aunt's got one of these, same year, but she has the 5.9L Magnum.
@cool3be you are not lying man, i have a 2009 ford f-250 superduty king ranch 4x4 and it is "bulletproof" LOL.
@msia4000 The song at 6:17 is "Cooler than me" by Mike Posner.
I own a truck just like this. Its white and its SLT Magnum Laramie Limited edition Long Bed supercab.
How much are these trucks worth? One similar to this condition
Brett Kendall bout (just geussing considering this is what my father got for his.) 40,000 or 10,000 or 80,000
+Pulse_Enegizer202 how much do you think they sold this one for
I am not good at doing that kind of stuff
could you do that intrigue (if its still there)
Still for sale?
how much mpg does one of these get?
@Gabzaiat how new are you talking because starting with the 07.5 model 2500 and 3500 dodge put in 6.7 cummins
Also that's a 1998.5 having the 24 valve
Dude we have a 2000 dodge ram when I was little boy in just 11 years old
LOL
@Gabzaiat you mean the new 6.7 cummins?
Hmmm my aunt's truck (same year, same trim, but with the 5.9L V8 instead of the Cummins I6) has different speaker grilles in the front doors than this thing, but all the rest of the interior is the same. I wonder why?
