Despite the internet not being heavily used by younger kids in my era, im sure the Pikablu (Marill) rumor had to have spread across the world via the internet because thats a very well known rumor that many of us remember despite being from different areas and countries.
the first time i played oblivion i didnt know u had to sleep to level up so i played thru the entire story and some side stuff without leveling up at all/wondering when or how i would, and then finally decided to sleep because it seemed like a silly lore type move to have my character finally take a rest after saving the empire or whatever and only then did i realize u had to sleep to level ur character up
On the subject of Fallout 3 (in the verrryyy early days before any of the DLC), one of my friends insisted he found a crashed alien spaceship, as well as a luscious forest. I thought he was lying for the longest of times, and just riffing off of what Three Dog said plus the 'Palandine' mention on the citadel terminals. When I eventually found both of those things later, I started to believe his stories a lot more.
Ohhhhh thats hilarious. fallout 3 was my introduction to fallout and I wouldn't have believed that story either because it sounds too fantastical unless yoou see it yourself lol I'm not guilting you into a sub but I have a story about fallout 3 coming eventually ;). It's mostly about my buddies experience, I was only somewhat involved toward the end.

@@Livvvid I would have to take a look at my modlist but I am away from my home and pc for another few months. Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul for one, does a lot of good for difficulty and to eliminate scaling, but it is certainly far from the only mod that I used. Deadly Reflex I find to be essential and truly made it so that the combat feels really nice. (Deadly Reflex 5 works better than 6) the unofficial official patches, of course. Ruined Tail's Tale is a particularly dear companion mod of mine, even though it is not voice acted. Instead of OOO, (Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul) I used it in combination with Francesco's or Martigen's monster mod, I don't exactly remember anymore. This is a modular highly customizable submod known as FCOM. I modded Oblivion some 2-3 years ago and let me tell you, it took me about 2weeks of noddingit to iron out all the kinks and shape it up to my satisfaction, though I've found the process really enjoyable. You need less than that, though. The only things that really need "fixing" are the scaling and if the combat is too janky and outdated for you, a combat mod or two. There are a lot of ambitious graphical, city and overhaul mods that are nice, if a bit unstable. My Oblivion crashes a lot ot this day and it can be highly annoying, but I modded it to oblivion, pun intended. There is a mod to pretty up all the faces but I skipped on it as I find obli ions faces to actually be really charming and full of character, even if they look a little comical. There's a lot of little mods that revamp things like the economy, add traders in the world, or travelers of some kind, but looking back, none of them are really essential. If you want to go down this route it could be a lot of fun, and very rewarding. I spent hundreds of hours in my modded game and I finished the main quest but I am still far from finishing it all. And oh yeah, making it so that potions restore hp over time instead of in the inventory is another thing I consider important. Some bigger overhaul might fix that already, but I am not sure.
Get some mods to fix scaling and if you want to enhance it. Oblivion is timeless and beautiful. Nothing quite like it. One of the best open world games for me to this day.

I do not recall for sure, but I think I used ooo with mmm(martigens monster mod) because francesco's mod added a lot of items that I considered to be less than lore friendly bloat. But I do nto remember for sure. as I said in the comment that seems deleted, I highly recommend deadly reflex, too. It is slightly annoying to install, though. Deadly reflex 5 works better than 5. Get unofficial patches and a mod where potions heal you over, alongside OOO(ooo overhaul a lot of little things in a good way that makes sense, adds a few sets of equipment, distributes it, overhaul scaling, adds some monsters etc. It blends pretty seemlessly into the game, and should fix the scaling as well as bandits having glass and deadric)

This was the last game I ever bought. I remember playing the $h!t out of Daggerfall as a kid and had to try it and beat the living $h!t out of it. Never played anything since lol

Got a ps4 for free with some cable/internet package one time and seen that. Bethesda will probably not do a remaster (at least not any time soon, and not before remastering Skyrim...again lmao) BUT there is a fan remaster that has been in the works for many years called Skyblivion, which is Oblivion, but using Skyrim graphics. On another note, I played the crap out of Oblivion when i got my Xbox 360 after high school. I remember getting engrossed in the alchemy, making powerful potions, and giving them custom names based on mixed alcoholic drinks and shots 😅. I would pop a few shots and then dive into oblivion gates on my argonian warrior. Good times.
When Skyrim came out we learned that during the Oblivion Crisis, the Argonians were able to push back the Daedric forces and actually start invading into the gates themselves, and I like to headcanon it that my Oblivion character was a huge part of that legend 😊

My dad and I have been to BC for a few games and also after the whitecaps came to Vancouver we went there to watch the Sounders away games. BC is so beautiful I love it.

Oblivion is magical. You can fix scaling with a mod.

Oblivion is a jank mess, but it's better than Skyrim.
I loved what little of oblivion I've played but the level scaling for the enemies is so wild.
