1:45 the "it's a game for kids" defense has always bothered me. Yes, the *primary* audience is kids. But they also do a pretty solid marketing push directly to their adult audience with each new game - hell, watch any of the new mainline title announcements in a Pokemon Presents! They're showing older players and capitalizing as hard as they can on nostalgia! So as long as they keep marketing the games to adults, it's totally valid for adults to criticize gameplay elements that don't meet expectations.
@paperip1996 you get my point exactly. They're always signalling to older fans with nostalgia bait.
I'm not asking for super edgy adult content. But come on how about a tutorial skip and maybe a difficulty+ that's optional (like in pokemon black and white 2)
So real, replaying these games is agony
The funny part is I can see a good game there. I do like the pokedex, graphics, and the idea of Totem Pokemon with trial gyms. Thats all cool. But its maddening trying to fight through everything to get to that content.
I don't see myself ever being able to replay these games unfortunately. Maybe to shiny hunt in USUM but it would be torture.
@@Livvvid yeah, like i have some of the most hours in them shiny breeding but i cannot do new runs, especially having done it 5 times already
INB4 "Oh, you are old enough to figure things out on your own and NOT need the tutorial? Well, prove it by using your credit card to pay $2.99 for the tutorial pass."
🤣
@@furiouskaiser9914 looool. Don't give them ideas!!!!
Dawg i would literally pay 3.99 US to remove all the cutscenes and interruptions from the game so i could nuzlocke it
wp sir
You probably have the record for quickest comment ever on my channel lol
Thank you.
Bro i dont like tutorials too but they weren't there i would have never gotten into the game when i was a kid, pokemon sun and moon aren't the only games with long ass tutorials, gen 6 and 8 have those too. Though something cool about gen 7 is that they at least give you important cutscenes related to the story right at the beginning and those make you want to suffer through the tutorial to discover arguably the best pokemon story ever
The ultra games aren't sequels as much as yellow isn't a sequel, crystal isn't a sequel, emerald isn't a sequel, platine neither so it's not new. X and Y didn't even have either a sequel or a third version
Npc dont even show you stores every time you got on a new island that is just not true. Though it's true that there is a lot of dialogue but it's just the price to pay to have excellent characters that actually matter make you like them and good storytelling
@nyeeeofthestarsz1804 that's why I offered an optional tutorial skip, not an erasure.
Idk when the last time you played these games were but yes there is aggressive NPC interruption on nearly every single route, all the way to end game. And very rarely is it story based. It will be a random NPC or minor character having to point out several locations to you.
I agree that they aren't sequels in a Black and White 2 sense but they're certainly supposed to be "upgrades" and therefore should offer something at least as far as efficienty imo.
@@Livvvid I played the game for the first time and finished it 2 months ago, easily became my favorite pokemon gen. But I played Ultra Moon before I played the regular Sun game. I too was disappointed when I found out the ultra games are just "third versions" games.
I've personally never noticed the lots of dialogue (except for rotom but at least you can choose to not talk to him) until I saw ppl talking about the game online and I do notice it when I play other pokemon games (Ultra moon was my first pokemon game in a year). I still don't think it's as much of a problem as everyone makes it seem to be.
Ultra Sun and Moon give as much additional content as the third versions we've been getting from gen 1 to 4, usum only made the modern pokemon community realize how much the concept of third versions is stupid and should never be brought up again. Some ppl are mad we have dlc's now, I say it's an upgrade in Pokemon's marketing benefiting as much the company as the fans
yea. I only play Pokémon because I love collecting things so that stuff never really bothered but I can still recognize poor game design. normally id justify this type of stuff my reminding people that the best way to judge a game is by what it's trying to do instead of what you want from it. but even eye can't see what they were going for.
Yeah this is where I start to see the decline in design. This, I believe, was also the first time it had a different lead than masouda and I felt it..
