I still don't understand why everyone is expecting a B&W remake? Gen 4 remakes were two years ago, it's way too early for another remake. Ever since the gen 2 remakes they do remakes every 5-7 years. Gen 5 remakes should be after gen 10 games.
I’m surprised about how when you guys talk about what to classify PLA as, none of you mention the fact that Nintendo themselves advertised PLA as a “Premake” of Gen 4
Black and White remakes became more likely now that the Pokemon Company has registered a new subsidiary studio called Pokemon Works located in the same building ILCA is in.
Something I’m curious about that I hope Jake (coming from the gaming industry) could chime in on another episode is the idea of contracting. I assume it’s typical for companies like Gamefreak, when they outsource, to hire contractors for each singular title release. But then Jake’s comment about training and retention got me thinking, is it possible Gamefreak could have signed a multi-year contract with Ilca to develop multiple sequential titles to keep up with development and lower training / ramp up time? They could then, add in legal caveats that allow them to pivot based on consumer responses (e.g, BDSP). This would significantly reduce burden at Gamefreak and enable them to focus on net new concepts (e.g, PLZA)
My only rebutted to Jake's "they might skip Gen 5 due to its initial reception" is there's no way the marketing team would ignore the months long Gen 5 Remake hype/speculation cycle. There's no way they weren't aware of Unova and Johto trending this whole time. It's 2024 and everything is connected social media wise.
We are definitely not getting a game this year guys, sorry to burst that bubble, after the Switch 2 got delayed, it’s clear they pushed everything that was planned out which is which is who PLZA will be released shortly after if not on its launch
Honestly they dont even need to release remakes to ride the rest of the year, ports of gen 1~4 would do the trick and people will eat it and enjoy till PLZA releases
Agreed, but they made so much money in late 21-22. And they made so much less in 23 as the dlc was only $35. If they release nothing in 24 they’d lose out on so much profit for 2 years straight. A third party remake is to be expected to this year
@@ryanchad8384 but thats the whole point of the ports, is easy risk free money that can make millions for the entire 2024 and maybe some 2025 until legends releases
People who never played the original diamond and pearl, now have the chance for bdsp on the switch. So knowing PC they rather make remakes then bring the original to the online.
They should of done gen 5 remake kinda how they did with gen 4 release them aside the legends game now of course i hope they don't make it cubi style hopefully more lets go style but better and let your pokemon walk with u but better it be great gen 5 is my fav gen soo many memories i remember the map and remember first meeting N and team plasma and when b&w 2 came out i used 100 bucks my mom gave me for my birthday to buy 60 dollar game my sister was mad bc i spent thar much on a game but the game gave me so much joy seeing unova again but more beautiful meeting old friends from old game but order i really hope they do gen 5 justice and make it great not good GREAT
I agree with the guy, ILCA is still probably their remake guy. As bad as reception for BDSP was, GF reception over their last few titles is worse. Game still sold well and you have an established relationship with them already. I think this year what we are getting is mobile stuff. PLZA will probably come out around March THEN we get the next ILCA game THEN 30th anniversary with gen 10. I think we get an ILCA 5th gen game after PLZA next year around the holidays along with a sneak peek at gen 10. Hiring someone else to remaster old ports doesn't work since they have to train everyone on their in house engine. I think they want the 3ds games to die so they can be brought back when they feel like it.
Anime graphics similar to Generation 6 should be the set standard in Pokémon. I can take art styles from Pokémon Let's Go or Pokémon Ranger: Hikari no Kiseki too. The Mario, Zelda, Kirby, and Metroid games always kept their own iconic designs, and they still sell and play great. SV pretty much failed where the characters look like androgynous makeup dolls from California by the state's women in their 30s. Japan is even mad at how the said characters turned out when sex dimorphism and attractiveness are gone. The XY custom clothes are the best overall. They do deserve more custom colors. Frilly Dress Green, High-Waisted Outfit Green, and Pleated Skirt Green would be possible. There should be more clothes for the boy player to match how much the girl player has. Let's Go is able to do that. I would suggest Jean Shorts in the slots the Skirts would be at. Anime graphics can even save memory size to allow the National PokéDex, Exp. Share setting, overworld Ability effects, farming, reusable TMs, one-use TRs, optional HMs, rematches, Loto-ID, and other features to be in the Pokémon games. Assets can be reused for future games like those other Nintendo games. I still wish to return to the Japanese regions because they are big enough for exploring, and small enough for the needed gameplay. People just respect Japanese content as Japanese content that it does not need to be something it is not. I would love to see Pokémon Crystal, Emerald, and Platinum being remade in hard copies.
I would love a faithful remake if they added the cross gen evolutions added since the original, my big problem with BDSP was that sylveon wasn’t available
You guys need to get better at giving each other time to speak. Often someone is presenting an idea and they are cut off over and over. A bit more structure and proper moderation would go a long way to improving the quality of the podcast imo.
My #1 problem with bdsp is that the walls & obstacles are still made out of glue... I don't care about the chibi style but nothing in this game is preventing me from just playing Platinum.
LMAOOOOO Khu flopped AGAIN that's crazy. He said Game Freak doesn't wanna work with ILCA and they literally just partnered for a new studio called Pokemon Works, my God Khu is such a fraud.
Can we just stop overhyping these leakers? Like I’m a big fan but there are plenty of other things to talk about and consider also Steve from PKMNCast did say that the Nintendo reps told him that the indigo dlc is just full of references nothing else. You can go back to last weeks episode of his if you want to hear the full story.
Y’all should have Tyranitartube on the show!
facts
I really hope we get ports sooner or later.
This might be a hot take but I wouldn't mind if Legends just outright replaces remakes going forward.
more jake steinberg content? automatic like already
RE: BW Remake - RuffledRowlit has been pointing out that remakes are typically announced in May/June and BDSP was the exception to that precedent

Can Jake Steinberg just replace Dusty? 😂 jk, but seriously he’s great & should be on the panel more often!
just add Jake without replacing anyone 😊
A small note: BDSP was done on Unity, not the Unreal Engine. Unity is also a very popular engine, especially in the indie, AA and mobile game segments
I’m surprised about how when you guys talk about what to classify PLA as, none of you mention the fact that Nintendo themselves advertised PLA as a “Premake” of Gen 4

PLA was like an extensive DLC for BDSP
Not gonna lie I’m still baffled. We haven’t received ports for the Game Boy color games or Game Boy advance games.

Snacksworth brother is Larry lol
They said something that’s true for me as well gen 5 is when I fell out of love with pokemon for awhile. So im cool on more gen 5 stuff.
That'd be funny if they didn't do A Remake and Just ported the original gen 5 games to switch
PLZA is part of an anthology series which is related to PLA methink (basically all of pokemon LOL)
Late to this and have to say, love Jake as guest
us too
Im hoping for a direct sequel for BW
Hopefully they take the Nintendo route and add some stuff to these HD ports

Drogane’s name being ruined by Lumi’s mic cutting out XD
I say gen 10 we get black and white remakes

It’ll be a heart gold soul silver remake by icla
@@JamiePokemonTrainer already was with brilliant diamond n shinying pearl 🤷🏽♂️
@@JamiePokemonTrainer it was horrible just something to do for a month before PLA came out. HGSS was amazing damn near too 4 Pokémon game

NO MORE DEX CUT IN ALL THE FUTURE POKEMON GAMES!

FIRST????
Bdsp is not as bad as some people say, it’s fun, runs good, is objectively better than the originals, y’all just tripping over the chibi effect😂
110% agree
Pixel graphics just look better. They would've been better off just porting the originals (or better yet, Platinum)
its better then base DP not better then platinum other then visuals
My #1 problem with bdsp is that the walls & obstacles are still made out of glue... I don't care about the chibi style but nothing in this game is preventing me from just playing Platinum.
I enjoyed it too and I get they were trying to remain faithful to the originals but they should’ve kept the elongated sprites like Sw/Sh & PLA

I need another game before PLZA tbh 🫠
