Honestly, I'm fine that we keep getting dragon psuedos: at this point I see them more as the "regional dragon". Like how we get a regional bird or bug early on, it makes sense to have a regional dragon in the late game. Yes, there was Tyranitar and Metagross, but those were during the early days when it felt like the franchise was experimenting more. Even if it's not typed as such, Tyranitar is basically still a dragon like mon: learning several dragon moves and even featuring on dragon tamer teams. While Metagross only exists in addition to Salamence already being the regional dragon (besides it might not even be native to Hoenn, since you can't find one in the wild). I would actually like if we got more cases like that: a regional dragon in addition to a differently typed high stat mon in the same gen; but I wouldn't want the different types psuedo to just erase the existence of a regional dragon for a new gen. Besides Dragons kinda need high stat members like pseudos, offensively the type kinda stinks without it. Why do you think people don't use Druddigon even with Sheer Force Life Orb hax.
Ursaluna is more intimidating than any of the actual Pseudos. It hits so freaking hard and is tanky. I would've picked it over Slaking, especially since Slaking has Truant. Also, I think Arboliva would be a better pick than Weepinbell for Grass Pseudo. It's a foot smaller than Victreebel, but it gives off this vibe of being a wise, ancient being, which I think works well for a Pseudo. Plus, if you've seen the anime, there's that Giant one that is literally an ancient Pokemon of some heroic legend or something like that.
I will admit: I hate the Grimmsnarl option for Fairy. Hatterene's dex entry leads more credence for it to be more pseudo. It's violent and imposing. And even has quite a few names such as the Raging Goddess and the Forest Witch. Meanwhile, Grimmsnarl is just a troll with a bunch of hair and doesn't look that intimidating. He also just does tricks. Not really any fighting
Im surprised Electivire got mentioned but Magmortar didn't, you can't really have one without the other. It's pretty menacing looking imo, not sure if it's based in myths tho. Also Houndamnation goes hard
5:54 this reminds me of the anime where a magnezone and meagross dueling shut down an entire city and the entire episode was spent breaking up their fight
Also anime presents Pokémon more like real-life animals in terms of biology. They all have different sizes from each other, and that's fine - irl, virtually every species has its' representatives different sizes from one another. Heck, in Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee and Legends: Arceus, Pokémon in Pokedexes are stated to not have one set size, but rather a range where most representatives of said species are fit in. So the argument that "anime sizes are wrong" is even worse.
Just wanted to say it again, but the editing recently improved a ton compared to when I first watched about 2 years ago. The editing in this video was incredible
Imo fairies should be exempt from the fierce looking category as "Small & Cute" is the main thing with them, Grimmsnarl is a good choice but to me Florges is the Correct Answer, relatively small and cute plus it's dex can range from sweet to downright vicious, its also way stronger then Grimmsnarl and with its different colors it could make it even better like a seasonal thing with sawsbuck that could slightly boost its stats or something like a new move. Just my 2 cents.
“Tinkaton isn’t scary.” Consider what made the ancestors of our species take off, our ability to make and use tools for hunting. We were so good at it, it is believed that we drove certain species to extinction. Now consider how Tinkaton hunts. Rather than taking on Corviknight head on, it crafts a hammer and launches rocks in their direction while they fly. This takes more precision than, say, throwing a spear, since in addition to calculating the speed at which the projectile is launched, Tinkaton also has to take into account the speed at which Corviknight fly. On top of that, a spear is arguably easier to make than a massive hammer made from pieces of metal. Yes, there are other intelligent pokemon that make and use tools, but they lack the malice that Tinkaton does. Did I mention the fact that the line molds metal they use with just their hammer? No protective equipment, no heat to soften the metal, nothing.
I would've picked Tinkaton for the Fairy Pseudo legendary. The whole point is that its a small person with a HUGE hammer. I think it shouldve been the pseudo of gen 9 instead of what we got
The only issue I have with the pseudo legendary criteria is the three stage part. I feel like the Base 600 club does that better because Archaludon feels and acts like a pseudo legendary. So I feel like it should be considered one but it isn't because of the three stage criteria. Other than that I feel like the system is over all pretty good.
In japan pseudo legends are called “the 600 club” so for japanese people, any pokemon with an exact 600 bsp is a pseudo. For them Archaludon IS a pseudo, they don’t care if it’s not a 3 stage evolution. I think we should exclude the 3 evo line and only care about the 600 stats
13:59 I get what Mikey is trying to say about Ludicolo being not fearsome cuz of the goofiness and dancing... but, correct me if I'm wrong, isn't Ludicolo kinda based on a Kappa, a Japanese mythical Yokai?
There is a Plant type Kaiju called Biollante which fought Godzilla in one of it's series. And some depiction of Biollante is a plant with a mouth so Victreebell is fair game.
I think you should have maybe mentioned the Japanese version of pseudo-legends: the 600 Club. Very similar concept, with almost the exact same members. it’s just big imposing pokemon that aren’t legendary but do have a 600 BST. No mention of needing 3 evolutions, so it also includes Archaludon. Which I think absolutely fits.
Personally, I've always thought the 3-stage evolution thing made no sense as a criteria. Like, if it has the power, why does it matter what came before?
Even the phrase "pseudo-legendary" doesn't have anything to do with requiring a 3 stage evolution line, it just draws attention to the Pokemon's similarities to legendaries despite not being legendary. 600+ BST and slow EXP gain is pretty standard for legendaries, plus they're all very imposing and most are based on a mythical creature, also to be expected from legendaries. The association with 3-stage evolution lines is only there because until gen 9 we didn't have a 2-stage evolution line that fits the other pseudo-legendary criteria
Tinkaton should be the Fairy one anyway, it has the ferocity of a Pseudo, it was highly demanded to be one by fans so there's backing behind it and it being so small would make it fit as the exception that proves the rule. Also it would be funny.
@@greninjamariokartpokemonfan Height 'rule' is stupid anyway. It's trying to make new pseudo's in line with the ones we already have, which has already gotten stale to begin with. I too firmly believe that Tinkaton should have been the SV Pseudo (or in addition to Baxcalibur)
I know it's your list, but the height requirement felt very restrictive. Tyrannitar has been shown in a few mediums to be shorter, but it can also be bigger. Pokemon isn't consistent, I think size is flexible enough in pokemon to not be as restrictive as Mikey made it out to be. That is my opinion, I do like Mikeys choices within his bounds
The only Pseudo Legendary thing what Grimmsnarl regularly did is ending Machamp's muscle career. Not only that, but the face design and the ability to Dynamax in Galar Region makes Grimmsnarl more especially based of Eren from Attack on Titan. I know it's not greenskin-like, but still....
Honestly I like the idea of a “silhouette test” to determine if the species is “monstrous” or imposing enough. Like if you take the pokemon and turn them into a completely black silhouette, does it look monstrous and if so then it passes. The Crobat vs Gengar part is a great example where Gengar could be argued to be more monstrous normally, but going by silhouettes Crobat looks incredibly terrifying
I never thought I’d find a sponsor for speaking foreign languages on a Pokémon video… but here I am. Literally exactly what I’ve been looking for Edit: Nevermind. The site initially says it’s $19,999 ARS (Argentine Pesos) or around $20 USD, but when you go to pay it goes up to $85,085 ARS or around $85 USD. The initial site claims that the original price for the lifetime purchase is around $450 USD and 96% of that WOULD be around $20 USD, but it’ll try and charge you $85 USD. I looked at the website less than an hour after this video was posted, so idk what’s going on with it
Heya! I had fun watching the video, pseudos are always fun to talk about. I do want to say I think this could have used a re-hash or quick summary at the end, because I completely forgot about almost every Pokemon you landed on for your choices. I will die on the hill that Volcarona is one of the coolest pokemon they made during gen 5 and I wanna see it get pseudo status purely out of bias and even though it doesn't fit, it always felt mythical to me.
I will never call them Powerhouse Pokémon. They are PSEUDO LEGENDARIES. Also, Slaking should absolutely be the Normal one, it’s the only non-Legendary, non-Mythical to have a higher BST than Pseudos.
@@GoinGreninja what i mean is there are a lot of people wishing both Haxorus and Volcarona to be Pseudo, which means there could be 3 if that were to happen just in Unova. The region is pretty damn stacked (especially Archeops like wtf, if they dont have Defeatist God help us)
@@axelerater I suppose. But I think only Haxorus needs the position, while Volcarona became a true Legendary Pokémon. Sadly, that's entirely impossible now...
@GoinGreninja thats actually a better idea lol. And with the current trend of legends being 550 BST (Urshifu and Ogerpon) Volcarona should really have been a Legendary, Urshifu even have a pre-evolution
Also, never mind the fact that Houndoom is literally MELTING when it mega evolves: "Its red claws and tips of its tail are melting from high internal temperatures that are painful to Houndoom itself." Though I'm sure if you went with Mega Houndoom becoming its own species to be a Pseudo Legendary, is it unspoken that it would need a dex entry rewrite? Because the one quoted is Mega Houndoom's Ultra Sun Entry. Glad you decided against Mega Houndoom either way.
I remain in the school of Tinkaton should have been a psuedo-legendary. I don't care if it's a tiny gremlin, let the pink fecker break the mould of big menacing creatures and wreak havoc with it's mighty hammer
Ive always said that Tinkaton should have been Paldea pseudo legendary. yes shes around 2 and a half feet tall and cute which perfectly represents the fairy type but you should include the hammer because a nearly 6 foot 200 plus pound hammer is intimidating

Psuedo-Legendary really fits the Dragon type if we're being honest. Other types are cool but I feel like no other typing consistently fits thematically with the title

The blushes Dragonite and Goodra have when he calls them cute is adorable
I know Volcarona isn’t a 3 stage line, but it’s such a great choice for a fire type pseudo legend
5:54 this reminds me of the anime where a magnezone and meagross dueling shut down an entire city and the entire episode was spent breaking up their fight
Katie be killing it with the timing of the Markiplier edits
That there hasn’t been a fairy or electric pseudo astounds me.
Yea, they could easily make an ice/fairy yeti and a Pegasus or Griffin pseudos and they could both fit fairy/flying.
11:45 I feel like Arcanine would have fit the role of a Fire Pseudo WAYY better than Mega Houndoom
6:29 Well, Clemont is also short, so that's also a factor.
I am freezing, all the dragon pseudos.
I'm also freezing IRL. It is really cold
I agree. Fairies are terrifying partly because they don't look like they should be.
“Tinkaton isn’t scary.”
Consider what made the ancestors of our species take off, our ability to make and use tools for hunting.
No protective equipment, no heat to soften the metal, nothing.
mikey: im sick of dragon pseudo legendarys also mikey: picks another dragon type for pseudo legendary
Biolante is a kajui so you can kinda say that victrybell is a kajui
i cant wait for a saxolotle comic with grunty speaking entirely spanish
I would've picked Tinkaton for the Fairy Pseudo legendary. The whole point is that its a small person with a HUGE hammer. I think it shouldve been the pseudo of gen 9 instead of what we got
17:40 Justice for Nidoking! I have no trouble just making him larger
'magmortar is too small'
grimmsnarl: *sips tea in the corner
11:12 IIIIIIIIIIIII’M! GONNA SWING FROM THE CHANDELIEEEEERRR!!!! FROM THE CHANDELIEEEEEEEEERRRR!!!!
@@julianheng1298 Yep!
I ain't counting Archaludon until they give Duraludon a preevo, then I'll gladly include it.
12:31 If mega houndoom was a final evo, I feel like it would be called ‘Hound-demise’
Tinkaton should be the Fairy one anyway, it has the ferocity of a Pseudo, it was highly demanded to be one by fans so there's backing behind it and it being so small would make it fit as the exception that proves the rule. Also it would be funny.
Unfortunately, Tinkaton is too small to be a Pseudo, as it is literally only 2 feet and 4 inches (71.12 centimeters = 0.7112 meters) tall.
@@greninjamariokartpokemonfan read my comment again
8:41 Markiplied mentioned
The smash or pass video 😂
The only Pseudo Legendary thing what Grimmsnarl regularly did is ending Machamp's muscle career. Not only that, but the face design and the ability to Dynamax in Galar Region makes Grimmsnarl more especially based of Eren from Attack on Titan. I know it's not greenskin-like, but still....
Cold take: Kalosian Goodra should have been the Dragon/Water type Pseudo Legendary.
SPOILER!!
Mikey circling back to Dragon type in the end was a plot twist I did not expect.
“I wished they buffed Volcarona”
Competitive players:
Honestly I like the idea of a “silhouette test” to determine if the species is “monstrous” or imposing enough. Like if you take the pokemon and turn them into a completely black silhouette, does it look monstrous and if so then it passes. The Crobat vs Gengar part is a great example where Gengar could be argued to be more monstrous normally, but going by silhouettes Crobat looks incredibly terrifying
Finally another MandJTV vid along with KeeganJ posting, it really is a good day
*“TODAY IS A GOOD DAY”* - Squirtle
i love how he's now using the no outline animated sprites, it's way better than the normal artwork
Never thought I’d hear Mikey reference little shop of horrors, but low and behold it happened
I am so tired of dragon type pseudo Pokemon
I got genuinely excited when he said crobat for poison.
I never thought I’d find a sponsor for speaking foreign languages on a Pokémon video… but here I am. Literally exactly what I’ve been looking for
Edit: Nevermind. I looked at the website less than an hour after this video was posted, so idk what’s going on with it
Probably some bait and switch nonsense, most UA-cam sponsors are complete trash.
Lord is back after some time
11:03 hell yeah, RC Drone Tarantula!! The one spider that completely bypasses my arachnophobia lmao
kommo-o is the best pseudo
change my mind:
also all other ones are cool too, so no hate
Why? You’re right.
I will never call them Powerhouse Pokémon. They are PSEUDO LEGENDARIES. Also, Slaking should absolutely be the Normal one, it’s the only non-Legendary, non-Mythical to have a higher BST than Pseudos.
It’s still a crime that they didn’t make haxorous a pseudo legend
Then Unova would have 3 Pseudos lol (Volcarona)
@@axelerater Volcarona isn't one. Maybe it was planned at some point in the beta, but it's definitely not now.
2:59 it also evolves at the same point as a pseudo legendary in pokemon sun and moon because you can’t get one until before the final trial
Elektriwire can be found in the sinnoh mountain in legends arceus
It should have been the pseudo BECAUSE it's a tiny gremlin with a huge hammer.
As a Tinkaton enthusiast, I wholeheartedly agree.
15:27 its ok my short king
Where's the "greetings pokefans, Michael here"
Ive always said that Tinkaton should have been Paldea pseudo legendary. yes shes around 2 and a half feet tall and cute which perfectly represents the fairy type but you should include the hammer because a nearly 6 foot 200 plus pound hammer is intimidating
I dare you to do a Pokemon crossover with Shiloh and bros because of TEAM SKYYYYY and because they did a video of Pokemon and it felt unfinished
Great idea
fr fr, dragons are sick, but I think we've had enough dragons lol. Only two are not dragon type, and only one is not "lizard-like"
Metagross is so cool, why isn't there more unique looking pseudos :(
I originally thought grimmsnarl might've been a pseudo at first, I can't explain why because even I don't understand it lol
Psuedo-Legendary really fits the Dragon type if we're being honest. Other types are cool but I feel like no other typing consistently fits thematically with the title
Pseudo legends - we are of diverse types!
SHUT UP YOU GOOFY DRAGONS
I need a poison fairy pseudo
Honestly, if Baxcalibur wasn’t so ugly I wouldn’t mind it being a dragon type. But at this point t it just seems like they’re doing dragons because they feel like they have to.
Like a wire was crossed in GameFreak higher ups and what we call "Pseudo Legendaries" might be an archetype they call "PowerHouse Dragon" or something
They should just give Sunflora an evolution and make that line a pseudo legendary line
