Absolutely amazing! Fantastic job imablisy! If Shaymin-Sky and Origin-Forme Giratina are able to put in along with the Platinum and HGSS trainer models, PBR will be 100% perfect.
My favorite stadium difference is in stadium 1 and the 1/256 glitch. Instead of patching out the 1/256 glitch, the game just has a check for if the 1/256 glitch occurred and, if it did, it just rolls the accuracy check again. On this second roll, you can potentially get a second 1/256 glitch, at which point the move does miss. So instead of fixing the accuracy check, they just made it a 1/256^2 glitch.
in some ways battle revolution is still the peak of pokemon battle visuals to this day. More effort was put into the animations and it felt like it had more soul even if the graphical fidelity might not be on the level of the newer consoles. Its not like the new pokemon games look any good or are pushing the boundaries of the hardware's capability as it stands. Just wish it had a proper story mode. Anyway doing the lords work here this is truly impressive. Since gamefreak or whoever is in charge is adamant not to show gen 4 any love let alone the amount it deserves i am glad fans are taking the initiative. Trying to beat this with the rental teams is literally impossible i swear. And i was too young to take competitive seriously when gen 4 was relevant but its the gen that impresses me the most competitively. Marriland vs untouchable blew my mind when i first watched it even if its far from peak play.
The game is translated but still incompatible with English game carts. I can't get the info now, but if you watch the twitch streamer SirToastyT (famous for his Scizor, Toast), his bot mentions the team working on it while he's live
SO sick to see the Platinum forms actually in the game!!!!!!! Awesome work and loved hearing about the journey it took to get everything working. I know that Rotom gets reverted every time you try to trade/battle in the cartridge games, so I have a feeling that reversion is coming from the game itself... I can't imagine that the bootrom sent from the wii is doing that right off the bat since it predated all the Platinum/HGSS changes
Glad you enjoyed it absol! I actually wasn't aware the rotom forms did that during trades. I think it /could/ still be the bootrom, but you might be right. Thinking about it, I'd expect rotom to be bad egg'd (something pbr does) or mention there was an illegal Pokemon rather than a reversion. I might try and debug more, but since there's no ds -> dolphin capable emulator it's such a pain to figure out where/when this is happening lol.
@@imablisy Yeah I purchased a USB gecko a while back in hopes of trying to debug some stuff with Ranch on console a while back but kind of found motivation in different things and put that on the eternal backburner. That might be the best way to try and figure this out
Modding Battle Revolution into being a sort of homebrewed patch that features _every_ Pokemon up to date would be an undertaking. But it would be incredible to see.
I absolutely love PBR's animations and have played it quite a few times solo just to see them. Really cool seeing a fix like this to the battling system with the few quirks that exist for PvP, but what would be even cooler is if someone could make a mod for singleplayer/PvE to give access to more teams/items since the base game has so few (maybe this exists already? I haven't looked around for PBR mods or even considering they might exist until now). (it would be even cooler to see modern mons/mechanics backported but I fully understand why no one would want to do that insane level of modding/modeling even with how simple you seemed to make it seem here in this video).

very interesting topic!! if you ever feel like trying to get the transferring rotom forms from ds part to work, id recommend getting in contact with the team that was trying to port the platinum update of My Pokemon Ranch to english a while ago--they know quite a bit about the ds multiboot thingy for dppt!

Truly one of my favorite games as a kid. I remember trading all different mons onto one cartridge and copying the data to my copy for wifi battles against my friends. I still have the copy of Pearl in my DS case 😊

This is absolutely insane. The fact that you can make custom pokémon and import models for them. It means you can hypothetically do anything. I did see someone added the Gen 5 starters. Imagine the future battle revolution with every pokémon and amazing custom animations. Brings a tear to my eye.

With at least a full Gen 5 mons available. Similar to what's already happened with bdsp. Except this seems like a whole lot simpler on paper. The only thing that might require a breakthrough is new moves. And I'm not even going to talk about the elephant in the room. That is fairy type. Though when written out they seem like small potatoes.
I really loved the use of the PBR beta track in the beginning. :) But, unfortunately, it seems like this mod won't work with the USA version of the game on Wii/Wii-U... I hope I get to try it out eventually; I have a living dex in HGSS (including the different forms) and I was always so sad the Platinum forms don't have unique models. 8:30 Sup I'm mildly familiar with blender and I think I can tell you what happened here. Your models origin point seems to be at the world origin instead of being higher up on the model itself. Now normally that shouldn't be an issue because the game would be programmed to set your character model on the plane based on the origin point. But you clearly state that you scaled down the original model. Your instructions probably didn't tell you to set the scale by pressing Ctrl+A (this is often overlooked by people experienced with blender cause it is second nature when you are scaling things so they forget to tell the rest of us) and that ALWAYS leads to some wonky stuff happening.
No, it literally was just the plugin being broken lol. All I did was switch to blender 2.8 and change nothing else w/ the setup and way I import or export.
if you are trying to "fix" things in older games, do you think you would ever be interested/possible in trying to do something with the dream radar function? make it work magically how it used to
5:29 This is actually very eye-opening. In the games of Yo-Kai Watch 2 and Yo-Kai Watch 3 which both have online competitive as a feature, they do that same thing. Monsters even at level 1 will automatically get boosted to level 60 for online play with no need to level grind. So not only does this prove Pokemon HAS done this and CAN do this, they just choose to NOT bring back that feature. What a joke.

I TRIED to patch scarlet with more visible shiny forms to help me hunt things like cleffa, tauros-p, tandemaus. I eventually got it working but holly hell my brain almost fried. BTW, Is there a chance that the Gecko code can be put into th epatch itself insteda of being a code you put in for the emulator to load?
Wow, this is awesome! I'll have to check out the community's patches, becaude my biggest issue with the game was not being able to play the various Colosseum modes in multiplayer for a party game experience.

Ah I remember when I kept watching PBR videos and never saw the gameplay from the overworked in it and I thought no one uploaded it. Then I played it at my friend's house and had the shocking realization that it didn't have the effort that Colosseum and XD did rofl
Rotom is the best spin blocker in gen 4, as well as an excellent check to scizor and gyarados. Some of the best mons in the format. Idk about vgc, but they're probably good there too. This also has the effect of making several forms viable because all that changes is 1 move. Heat and Wash are the best, but everything except air has usability.
hopefully one day shaymin s and giratina o will be patched in as well, and they'll all use models that more closely fit the art style. this is a great start though and is one step closer to my childish hope that one day this game can have a campaign similar to the gamecube games.
They should make another game like this especially since all the Pokémon aren't useable in 1 game anymore so there are 10s of thousands of team match ups that aren't possible to do. Imagine a meta with over 1000 pokemon in it.
If this is a big project to update pbr, Could you also look into enabling the lucas and dawn on trainer cards? You can do it by hex editing the trainer card in the save but it would be awesome to see it added to the in game trainer card customization. Great work anyways!
Is there a way to make this into a Riivolution patch so I can use my actual game disc? I don't know why my Wii U doesn't let me use rips of my Wii games on it through vWii so at the moment that'd be my best way to play this. Really cool though and honestly while I had fun with it already, especially with my copy of Platinum, seeing a game improved is always great!
@@SoyFelipeCTM it wouldn't be hard to model (I do have experience) and I have created mods for games myself (Borderlands 2 and TPS in addition to Fallout New Vegas) so I'm not just yapping here. The only cosmetic difference is the ear, but also the only gameplay difference is it gets Pain Split. Not a big loss for a pokemon not viable in any real tier lol

Ah I remember when I kept watching PBR videos and never saw the gameplay from the overworked in it and I thought no one uploaded it. Then I played it at my friend's house and had the shocking realization that it didn't have the effort that Colosseum and XD did rofl

4:18 I thought the Rotom forms only took off in competitive once they got their unique type combos in Gen 5.
Rotom is the best spin blocker in gen 4, as well as an excellent check to scizor and gyarados. Some of the best mons in the format. Idk about vgc, but they're probably good there too.
This also has the effect of making several forms viable because all that changes is 1 move. Heat and Wash are the best, but everything except air has usability.
hopefully one day shaymin s and giratina o will be patched in as well, and they'll all use models that more closely fit the art style. this is a great start though and is one step closer to my childish hope that one day this game can have a campaign similar to the gamecube games.

They should make another game like this especially since all the Pokémon aren't useable in 1 game anymore so there are 10s of thousands of team match ups that aren't possible to do. Imagine a meta with over 1000 pokemon in it.

If this is a big project to update pbr, Could you also look into enabling the lucas and dawn on trainer cards? You can do it by hex editing the trainer card in the save but it would be awesome to see it added to the in game trainer card customization. Great work anyways!

Is there a way to make this into a Riivolution patch so I can use my actual game disc? I don't know why my Wii U doesn't let me use rips of my Wii games on it through vWii so at the moment that'd be my best way to play this.
Really cool though and honestly while I had fun with it already, especially with my copy of Platinum, seeing a game improved is always great!

You might be able to find some answers as to why PBR's copying applet doesn't accept platinum/hgss content in the pokemon platinum decomp discord.
I know this is an INCREDIBLY niche suggestion but you've missed a gen 4 form: Spiky-Eared Pichu. HGSS version perhaps?

@@SoyFelipeCTM it wouldn't be hard to model (I do have experience) and I have created mods for games myself (Borderlands 2 and TPS in addition to Fallout New Vegas) so I'm not just yapping here. The only cosmetic difference is the ear, but also the only gameplay difference is it gets Pain Split. Not a big loss for a pokemon not viable in any real tier lol
