      It’s an automatic default setting by DoorDash. Sometimes they have no idea they’ve done it. I text them as soon as I get to the restaurant: “Hi! This is Allison with DoorDash. I show you've requested a no contact delivery. Is there anywhere specific you'd like me to place your food, like a chair or basket so that it's not sitting on the ground?
      I'm waiting on your order now & will be headed your way as soon as it's ready! “ I just have that copied in my notes so it’s easy. Half the people tell me they had no idea they had that & the other half tell me where to leave it. My rating has sky rocketed since.

    This happened to me on Saturday. Luckily a host at Chili's gave me the 411about this particular address allegedly reporting not receiving their food on several occasions so I always make sure I take plenty of pics.
    I literally had just finished filling out the fraud report doordash sent me for this address when the very next order I received was from them.
    This time not only did I take a picture of the delivery, the unit # and my foot in the pic (good looking out for that too btw) but I also waited to make sure someone came out and picked up the food and brought it in (she was a pro level scammer so she sent her 14yo kid out to get it so if I took a picture of them they could claim I was creeping. Luckily I am smarter than that and she still asked why I was thereso I explained that there had been numerous reports of this address not receiving their food and I just wanted to make sure that no one was stealing it from in front of your door 😂

      I had the same thing happened too me but I called DoorDash customer service had them on the phone while I made the delivery after the delivery DoorDash customer service called the customer and asked them was everything there did they receive the food etc...
      Because People will scam...

    I’m so glad you made this video. Even in a pandemic, we have people taking advantage of others. I really feel as if DD should do more to protect us drivers - for some, this is the only means of income we have right now.

      Omg yes! I TOTALLY AGREE! I think about this with every delivery I make thinking ..."I hope they don't try one on me!!" Its a bit nerve wracking because we're honest ppl just tryna make an extra buck.... or for some, just tryna make a buck period as this is their only means of income! I feel there should be more protection for us drivers as well!

    I also send the picture to the customer as i drop it off figure its an extra layer of protection the customer knows i have a picture and will have a harder time justifying lying

      Thats a very smart concept. Even with taking a picture alone its not 100% proof that you left it at the door. Im thinking body cam solution.

    so far all I do is walk about 50 feet away from the house wait for the customer to pick up the food (after I text him that it's there) and I waved to them and say have a nice day ,no contact doesn't mean you can't wait for the customer to pick it up within a reasonable amount of time,

      I used to have the same mind frame. Take the picture and leave because you're wasting time. However a customer can say you didn't leave it at the correct address, even if the door has the number on it my apartment complex has different building numbers with the exact same apartment numbers. They can say anything they want. They can rate you poorly if they want & DD won't adjust it. Yes, that picture will save you from getting deactivated but it will not save you from getting a bad rating. However if you place the item at the door, go to your car and see that the customer has not picked it up you push the button that says customer unavailable and it will alert the customer to get the food, once that time is up you can take a picture again and submit it and they cannot rate you. I see where the guy is coming from that's making the video but at the same time he's not telling you how to protect your ratings LOL

    Happened to me two nights ago (4.16.2020). Customer claimed virtually within seconds they didn't get their food. I confirmed address, location of apartment, and resent picture taken as documentation.
    Worst thing that came out of it is that I got trashed, a 1-star.

    I had this happen to me today for the first time. The no contact delivery was going to an apartment complex. Like 2 hours after I made the delivery the customer reached out to DD saying that they never got their delivery. I told DD I left the food at the front door & knocked. Idk how this is gonna end but fortunately for that particular order when I delivered it I took a picture not only of the order but the apartment number was also in the picture.

    I send pictures to the customers and also keep one for my self just Incase. I also have a GoPro strapped to my chest to document every delivery I make.

    Will be using the timestamp app. Thanks guys, I've had one customer flat out lie and said I delivered to the wrong address today😡😡😡 I even took a picture of the food and sent it to them. It was a no contact delivery. I disputed it with doordash, its some low down dirty people trying to take advantage and get free food.

    This happened to me the other day. I do postmates. Postmates called me and asked me about it. They were nice about it seeing how I was new (literally day 4) before hanging up the rep said always take a picture even if the app doesn’t request it!!

    Good stuff! I try to always get a good pic...except about half of the customers that request "no contact delivery" come outside the second I pull up. some come right up to my car before I can even get out. Doordash needs to text the customer like they do Dashers when we're close. "OK, your food will be here soon. Now remember, you requested a no contact delivery. That means stay inside while the Dasher delivers your food to your door!"

      that's the default now, if they dont know it got changed, they will still come out, or greet you at the door.
      most of them dont seem to read the emails that dd sends. but tbh, if I wasn't a driver, I prolly would only glance at dd emails if I ever actually looked at it

      They're just hungry. They don't get out much and they get excited to see someone, especially if that someone is bringing food. It's got to be the highlight of many peoples' day during the lockdown. (I'd like them to ALL to tip us well for providing that highlight.)

    Hey Bentley. With these "No Contact Deliveries" I do what you do. I set the food down at the door, take a picture of the food showing the apt., or house number, or some distinguishing part of the door area. Then I text the picture to the customer. Next, I will close out the delivery. If the customer does lie about not getting their order then when DoorDash pulls up the customer's account, or pulls up my account DoorDash will see the picture that I sent to the customer. This has prevented me from having any problems with my deliveries. I never call a customer. I always text customers because I want a "paper trail" of what I said to the customer, and what the customer said to me. Also, this will make it so that you don't have to hold onto the pictures for a few days.

    I’ve started using the TimeStamp app (the free version) just so it takes it that extra step further. It’s also a good way to double check I got the correct address because it stamps it in the corner. It’s just easier to me than trying to get their number in it. Some people can be too shady.

    In my opinion no contact delivery doesn't mean just drop off and take off. What I do is leave the food at the door as requested then I either ring the doorbell or knock and then I stand back from a distance and wait for the customer to actually open the door and acknowledge me before I take off. I would tell them "hello doordash! I left your order at the door as requested." They say thank you and I take off.

      exactly...its not a game of dash and ditch...i take a photo quickly then ring the bell or knock and they usually come out as im getting in my car..i wave and leave. if they dont come out before i am ready to drive off i send a quick text with the photo and a simple "have a great day!" and they almost always text me back thanks. its simple. just do your job like you'd want someone else to do for you if you were ordering

    I get a message from DD telling me to open up the contact text and take a picture of the food at there door and send it to them. I like that part because it helps show proof we dropped it off. But still am worried about deactivation because of some nasty ass ppl.

    Heads up people - customers who report non delivery r 99.9% the ones that don’t tip. If a customer tip decently like $4 or up, that means they’re hungry and r willing to pay u for your devices. Don’t accept orders that pays low or orders that r being delivered to shady ass areas.

    Happed to me last night. It wasn’t a contactless order and as I handed it over I got a notification that the order cancelled. Since I still got paid I was like no biggie. The next morning I have an email about not finishing the delivery. And since it was a hand off delivery I didn’t take any pics. Hopefully this gets resolved quickly and I stay on cause I plan on going full time soon

      Crashing of the app doesn't affect your bank account system, you'll still receive your payment as usual, my dasher app crashed or maybe they deactivated it, I had $200 and I was worried since I couldn't open the app and dash anymore, but I still received my direct deposit on Tuesday morning.

    I actually handed the food to the customer who verified the customer name. I didn't take a picture because I handed it to the customer directly. When I finished for the day I find a notice of contract violation for not delivering the order. Obviously this customer was scamming me and DoorDash. I can't imagine taking a picture of handing the food to the customer. Is that even possible? I filled out the dispute and submitted the information but I am disgusted that someone would do this!

    Great Video with excellent tips. I have made it a habit with or without contactless delivery to take a picture of front door and a message to the diner if they decide to open the door after they wanted a contactless delivery something like this: thanks for meeting me at the door enjoy your food. This way DD knows that they changed their mind and opened the door to pickup their food. Always, always leave a paper trail and picture. I never speak to the diner on the phone always thru text. Don’t forget leave that trail.

    What I have been doing takes a little more time but it’s worth it. I put the food on the doorstep, text the customer the meal is on their doorstep, and what till they open the door to pick it up and I waive at them from my car or a far distance. That way you have proof they have it as well as the text on your phone which IS VERIFIED BY DD THAT YOU ARE CONTACTING THE CUSTOMER.

    i don;t understand why you would drop food and walk away...anyone around (esp in apartments) can walk over and pick up the order. Just wait for customer to come out while keeping social distance. no biggie.

      I had a person who said to leave at the door but call me when you are outside. I called them and it went to voicemail, so I left a voicemail. I shouldn't have to wait for them to come out. It eats into my productivity.

      I had the same problem yesterday. A customer came to the car when I pulled up and said to me doordash. I said yes. He asked was his food all there. I hit complete and late night I decided to check my ratings and I got a contract violation cuz the customer claim I didn't deliver their food. So now I'm waiting to see am I going to be getting deactivated. I'll hate to be deactivated but it is what it is I have another backup plan and this was just temporary anyway

    On my first two weeks when I started, I dropped off a pizza at someone townhouse. It was a no contact delivery, so because I was still new to dashing I waited for awhile for someone to come to the door but they didn't....as soon as I was about to pull off, the girl came up the street to pick up her pizza and reported that she didn't get it. When Door Dash asked me about it, I told them it was fraud, I took a picture of the drop off.

    Today was my first day and though I only had two deliveries (I got going late and deliveries stopped at 1:30 p.m.) I made $17. I'm going back out tonight for dinner for 3 1/2 hrs. I work a full time job and want this as a Side Hustle on Weekends.
    And you're right, Dashing today took me back to when I delivered pizzas...Man, I missed the rush!!!

    That's a good tip my dude I appreciate that I did not think of that but now I'm going to start doing that because I had doordash email me talking about I didn't even give the order to a customer so what I do all the time I always look 4 cameras don't know why but yeah I am no Thief either but just for safety so I told them that the building hack camera if they wanted 50 that follow you could look at the camera because I do my job right

    I always send the pic in a message to the customer before I finish the order. Found out customer service has access to my messages to the customer. They'll see the pic if there's problems. No need to remember which pic is which.

    I had a customer modify their pin to what turned out to be a vacant house. I have to make sure the customer gets their order in person for now on bc that guy reported not getting his food. I get one more of those and I'm done. It's up to you to just take the pics and roll out or actually verify they received the order. I'm not talking any more chances bc if you've been dashing for any amount of time, you'll find out that people arent in a hurry to get their food. I'm going to call them and bang on that door until I verify they have it. Theres too many liars and scam artists out there to take any chances.

    I don't take pictures of the food ever, but most of the time, I just wait till they come to the door and I sit in my car so I can see someone, and if I don't see anyone I will text them. I had one one tonight. He wasn't home when I arrived. He said leave it on the porch. I took a picture of that one. That's an unusual circumstance. It's going to be hard for DoorDash to assume you're a shit person if you have done hundreds of orders and haven't had one complaint, but for a customer to try to pull this trick more than once, it'll say more about them than it will the driver, especially if the driver has an impeccable record. Door Dash isn't stupid. They'll figure out who's b shitting.

    Thanks for this video. I have had 2 people claim I did not deliver their food. One contacted me but DD did not. A few days later it happened again and the customer did not contact me and went straight to DD. DD contacted me and I had no real proof because it was not a no contact delivery. I knew something was wrong when it was $70 worth of Popeye's chicken going to a very low rent apartment complex. But when 2 kids answered the door, in the middle of a virus outbreak, I knew this was not going to end well. And it did not. It's my only warning in over a year so I should be good but it made me so mad! What can we do about hand delivered orders claiming they didn't get their food?

    Apartment buildings are hard. I had a problem a week ago where I was delivering to an apartment building that had the same number, but I only knew of one because this was an unfamiliar place to me. And what are actual apartments, I thought were back doors. I dropped it off at the wrong apartment, but I didnt know that until the customer called me. I had to go back and redeliver to the right one. She lived in one of those back doors that I thought were.

    You want to text customer via the text icon on doordash app then send pic of food to customer through DD text. That way DD ostensibly always has the delivery pic and DD, the customer, and you all know that everyone knows that everyone's got the same pic. I hope that's enough. Sometimes they come out while I'm taking the pic and we al llaugh through our face masks. NBD. Life is just awkward these days. What are you gonna do?
    If I can get apt # in pic, I do.
    Bentley, do you think we need an additional pic on our personal camera as well, to protect us in case DD loses the images we send through their app? Just a screenshot of delivery shot I take through DD app would be easiest. But maybe, like in your example of your self portrait in front house, additional proof of having been there with the goods might turn out to be helpful.

      Not sure if everyone gets theses texts, but I get text reminders from DD that tell me to take a photo and send it in a text to the customer when you deliver, to let them know it's there. If I get any grief about taking a photo, I will just pull out the text from DD and show them that I am obligated to do so as part of my DD duties. Let them call DD and let you be on your way.

      Jimmy S I try to be discreet just for that reason. Sometimes I take a video, so the camera is already recording as I walk up, and take my picture from there if the customer claims they didn’t get their food.

    I actually stopped DD months ago because a customer claimed they didn’t receive their order. I didn’t like that I could easily be made to look like a thief. Now I’m going to get back into it and this video was so helpful. I’ll always make sure to take pictures with the apartment/house number on it for no contact deliveries.

    I take a pic of the food in front of the door, with the Doordash bag right beside it (so they can't try to say the bag wasn't used) and then text that pic to the customer, with a quick, "Thank you". Even if they opened the door 3 seconds after I walked off the porch and I thank them personally, before I swipe completed delivery, I send the pic. So if they had any thoughts of pulling some shit, that usually will make them think otherwise.

    This just happened to my son. It was for a Walmart CONTACT WITH SIGNATURE delivery. She lied and said she didn't sign anything and never got her groceries. He is now deactivated.

    I've done over 1,000 deliveries before I received my first non arrival..... I was hurt ... lol Now I have done over 3,300 and I have a total of 6 non arrivals.... got 2 in one week...Talking about mad.... smh thieves are the worst....

    I always leave it at the door knock walk away wait for them to come out and grab it and tell them to have a nice day. I could start taking pictures I guess. Someone could take the food directly out of your hands and still claim that I was never there though. I’m guessing the angle is the special instructions were to leave it at the door and they will use that to file a claim.

    Here in New York City City the lowest cost for a gallon of gas is $2.79 and that's the regular gasoline

    So I got a contact violation, 5$ McDonald's order. African American family younger mid 20s. Spent 15 minutes locating them apartments and beans was not populating data go figure. So I manually found them and right as I'm setting the small bag of food in front of their door a woman opens the door grabs the bag fast picks it up and starts shaking it and right away she's like, oh ummm no! Sir ! (I keep in mind was trying to dash away fast I had that gut feeling D talks about if u have a bad gut feeling it's probably accurate. Well I should not have turned around but I did 😞. She says oh no sir! We ordered like wayyyy mo than this!.
    ( I messed up I had not checked how many items the family ordered so I could not contest her claim) so I'm like ok ma'am what all is missing?
    She says large fry no it was two large fry an 2 big max. So I don't want to challenge her claim honestly I can't and maybe she's telling the truth? NO! I'm thinking 5$ order it had to be worth more the order right??
    Anyway I tell her I'm so sorry ma'am I can't open the bags to see what all is there but I'll go get the rest of your food so I drive to McDonald's they say no the order was for 1 small fry and 1 double cheese burger the family was blowing up my phone since leaving which I didn't answer the calls I tell McDonald's ok sorry for mix up I leave McDonald's block the lady's number and continue dashing then I get the violation email. Missing food from delivery order 😢 dambitt!!!!

    Im all for no contact delivery...But one thing that bothers me is people wanting you to leave their food on the ground at the door...At least leave a table or something outside...B4 i did DD i was in customer service...Im not comfortable with just leaving food on the ground...I mean I will if i have too...but please dont make me....Get yourself a porch stool or table or something ...Please and Thank You😊😊😊😊😊

    Amazon takes a picture and sends it, so I have no problem as a customer. However, if you as the driver mess up...an Uber Eats driver did NOT follow my instructions to CALL me besides leaving at the door. He dropped the items and bounced. Sent a picture...unfortunately for him and me...it proved he left it on a welcome mat that was NOT our welcome mat! Sorry dude, reported you because if you had followed directions you would not have made the mistake.

    Check this out from today.
    Order for a lady . Order on my app said "Hand it To Me". Someone through the door said just leave it. I explained I would need to take a photo and went to the car to get phone. When returning some unknown male approached screaming at me. I showed him on the phone that I was supposed to hand it to "lady's name" and would need to photo it if she wanted me to just leave it. I never saw or spoke to a Jessica. He was acting very rude, angry and threatening me blocking my walkway so I told him maybe I should just return it and he then snatched it away from me. I reported to police as well and they went to the door to confirm that Jessica had actually received it saying it wasn't an assault just a rude customer. Most troubling experience I've had with over 2,200 deliveries.
    Really pissed me off. I thought this dude was going to assault me. Notified support. But at least cop has confirmed my delivery.
    P.S. I had left phone in car charging since it was a hand to me with a nice tip but when they wouldn't answer door and wanted me to leave at door after ordering 'hand to me' and she didn't answer door, my radar engaged.

    Start a Grubhub account and a UE account and deliver at least one order every few months to keep those accounts active.
    That way you will never be blindsided into unemployment, as long as your car is functional.
    This saved me when i got a 2-day suspension because a customer lied.
    Be careful, follow instructions, and leave a digital trail of contacting the customer.

    I set the food down at the door. Step back 6 feet or more. And wait for them to pick up their food. I get a visualization of them picking it up. Before I leave. And if the powers at be, can't trust me to do my job. Well then fuck them. I'm still going to make my money. Without giving them access to my phone and my camera and my messages. No way. Keep your digital intrusions to yourself.

    Doordash logs and saves all interactions between customers and dashers, including texts and pictures. On a merchant order, where you see "We don't know the exact items," the app will sometimes say "Hand to customer" and then below that "leave it at the door" if the customer chose that option. In this case, the app will default to "hand to customer." Protect yourself by opening your camera as you're approaching the door, taking the usual picture, then text the pic to the customer, then hit "complete." If the customer tries fraud, Doordash has the pic you sent them in their records.

    thanks again for the head up, i always have my camera rolling BEFORE i get out of the car i made a delivery after midnight from taco bell to a young man who has a very unusual name i asked him to pronounce it and he did, this was my last dash for the night so i went to look at my rating only to see a contact violation that he said he did not get his food folks im still in the parking lot so that fast he called dd to say he did not get his food it was not even 5min later, so i called dd to say not only am i still on location but i have video of me giving him the food, dd support told me to hold on to the video if the investigation dept needs it they will ask me for it, this happened around 12:30 am by 11:00 am the next day the violation was removed....im assuming they called him and told him about the video so he then admitted he got the food.....ALWAYS cover your ass by video or photo because dd will take the customers word for it if you don't.

    I take a picture of every delivery......sorry....not sorry....I have had three people claim that they did not get their food. Luckily I had pictures of two of those deliveries including the knees of one person picking up the food at the door

    I have only had it happen like three times out of 1000 plus deliveries, but I think one lady put the wrong address-luckily, her correct address was only five feet away. 2nd one a lady was at one hotel & the address was a different hotel-luckily, I showed the lady the address it had shown & that happened to be a hand to customer. The third one, I thought it was weird because I delivered to a house before & name was different, but other family members can order. I get one of those messages after I had taken a pic & hit gps straight from DD directions. The only time I manually enter is if it doesn’t come up. I tried to message this customer to verify-no answer. What in the hell can you do when DoorDash gives the wrong address?

    Once I slide for arrival. I open the text customer app, then camera I take the pic of food and address If possible and text it to the customer as I'm walking away. If I cant get address I send the food then the house. I keep the pics for 24 hours.

    Did you know that you can request a signature required order from customer service if you feel uncertain about dropping off the order? I have done this and though the customer then cannot have a contact free delivery, it is fool proof protection.

    Am I missing something? Whenever I take a pic in the doordash app, it doesn't save on my camera...also, can someone tell me if nursing homes don't allow entry for deliveries? I got notes from a customer to leave it at their door, but lady opened door and said she will take it to them

    Every phone camera has wide angle so get the number in the picture or the front door. It's not a picture of the bag but the bag at the given address. DD will Google the address and check the front of the house and sure enough the mailbox and short bush are actually to the right of the all glass door tye same as your picture. But a picture of a bag on the ground is nothing.

    Hey Bentley love your videos but may I also add when taking Pictures to make sure the apartment is shown on the picture so there are no excuses that later customer may claim we left it at a wrong apt, this has also helped me when I accidentally left food at wrong apt and customer quickly texted me to correct it 😂 but anyways I think is useful to include apt number on pic

    Wear a body cam so you have the picture you take on the app and proof on your body cam that you dropped it off, got in your car and left cuZ they can always say well how do we know he didn’t grab the food and take off after he took the picture? This is a fool proof way.
