Hi Fiber Spider, I was in a granny mood. I’ve been eyeing this tutorial for a few years. You did a great job of explaining this and I’m really enjoying the project. Note: I want to thank you for your kindness to us subscribers. You are sweet and respectful. I’ve been finding quite a bit of negativity to us, subscribers, especially on other UA-cam channels on their live podcasts. Thank you for doing “Happy Mail” instead. It shows how much you appreciate us, subscribers.

Stumbled upon this video quite by chance. Enjoyed it a lot. I especially love the fact that you don't edit out your dropped stitches. For a beginner like me, that increases my confidence.

As much as I would like to "ex-ter-mi-nate" dropped stitches, its all part of not being a machine, lol. Thank you. 😉 BTW, Tom Baker is my personal favorite.

The granny stitch is becoming my absolute favorite too. I am making a blanket for my Mom for Christmas. Off white, dusty rose and grass green.

In this moment I feel so much happiness and peace in my life that I have never felt before! I began crocheting this year, maybe 6 months ago. I’d dabbled here and there with school (making some sort of latch hook carpets with yarn, sack cloth, and an actual crochet needle) and my sister would crochet and I’d watch her.
The only thing I’ve been able to master is the granny square. I’ve been making a baby blanket of infinity granny square. It’s great to work with my hands, making a baby blanket for my friend in Canada, listening to audiobooks - but it got a bit monotonous. Doesn’t help that I have been using 4 balls of the same multicolor yarn.
But I don’t like working in squares. There’s not much creative freedom.
I’m almost done with my friend’s blanket and want to move on to making my own. And please no infinity granny square! I want to learn the granny rectangle. But honestly not ready for it yet. A few weeks ago I learnt the granny stitch! It’s so lovely. I made myself a head band.
But there’s also the issue of cost. Yarn is expensive where I live. I don’t have much money to buy a million different colored yarns for my blanket. I want to treat myself to different colors every month.
And then today I was googling granny blankets and found the website crochetbeja. I watched the video. And I am in awe that I can combine everything I like into a project. I’m going to have creative control over my colors and my rows. The last pattern idea truly blew me away! You mean to tell me I can do all this with crochet? I am in awe. I am in complete bliss. This is what heaven feels like. OH EM GOSH. How am I going to sleep tonight??? I’ll buy myself 4 different colored balls of yarn every month and slowly work on a blanket for myself in my own quirky color combination!
    Ugh I’m so happy today.
    THANK YOU SO MUCH!

You could also take a different colour and just outline with on or 2 full rounds then go back to the the log cabin effect for your 4 rows of the log cabin L's. Then use your outline coloured yarn to fully surroud it again. There are lots of variations

I made this afghan with 4 different colors, and everyone loves it!! thanks so much for your tutorial. I am on my second one of this pattern using 1 variegated and 6 other colors. They are the same colors as the variegated yarn. I am doing it a little different though. I am doing 6 rows of the regular granny square, then 2 of one color followed by 4 of another and so on. I have pictures I can send you if you like. This tutorial is wonderful. Have a wonderful day and stay safe.

I only recently started crocheting (about two or three months ago), and just came across your videos about ten days ago. I'm so grateful for that as you are a creative, and wonderful teacher! I'm doing this pattern with Red Heart With Love Metallics (white with iridescent sparkle for the center color, followed by Caron Simply Soft in Victorian Rose, and then Red Heart With Love Metallics black with silver sparkles. The look is dramatic and stunning. I'm looking forward to seeing it get larger and larger!

I absolutely love this tutorial, I can actually make the log cabin now in crochet. Thank you so much for sharing your talent with us!!! I also appreciate that you give us different ideas! I think I’m gonna make the blocks and then put them together first. Thank you again!!!

Love your designs. I recommend you to everyone who crochets, beginner to advanced. Just want you to never apologize for "yammering". Not everyone learns the same way, so when you are demonstrating your stitches , then show us how to and then tell us your idea behind the count, and why you have worked it out that way, then say again, maybe a different approach to thinking about it,and a helpful suggestion tacked on to that, (whew) that is what a good teacher does! Never change! I did your diamond and lace blanket and you add a double crochet into the pattern and it was such a light bulb moment, but one I would have never seen. Thank you for your dedication. It means the world to so many of us.

Thank you for being so kind about explaining granny squares. Yes people may know them but if you are new to crochet and want to do something like this they still need to have it explained. I was on another site and the people were complaining because some "beginners" were saying the person was going to fast. Well it is a learning video they should go a little slower. Anyway, thank you for being so kind and generous with the way you teach.

Your videos are always a joy to watch!
I've adopted your technique for connecting to turning chains, and I'd like to share a trick I use instead of slip-stitching across a cluster at the start of each round. I replace the final chain stitch of the fourth corner with a single crochet (double crochet for my countrymen). Then I chain up from there and work the next two double crochets (trebles in the UK) over the single. It means that I always start and finish in a corner.

I made a 10-stitch blanket for a LYS contest this spring, and it looks great (of course), but all those stitch markers and working into the edges of the rows of a previous section all the time was such a pain! I like the concept of a log-cabin afghan, and as a big fan of granny-square afghans from way back, a granny-stitch version of a log-cabin afghan sounds easier still. Back to watching your tutorial now . . .

Great tutorial!! Thank you!!! I love this pattern. It works up fast and uses up a lot of "scrap" yarn! I don't do the ch-1 between clusters along a row - I find it is too floppy. I go from one cluster directly into the next space for the next cluster along the sides (but do the ch-2 between clusters in the corners).

Thank you so much for your tutorial! I love how creative you get with your projects, and then on top of that you get so excited about it. Your bubbly attitude and comfortable voice makes me feel like I’m having a crochet day with my sister or friend. Thank you for helping me improve and expand my crochet repertoire!
