Hey all - if we can get this video to 75 likes in the next week I’ll get hold of either an Universal Audio or Strymon reverb pedal to compare, and let me know in the comments if a particular one of their pedals is of most interest 👍🏼 cheers

The All WET - No DRY signal setting is good for parallel FX Loops. Nice demo, thanks!
Great video and demo as always!! I don't think I'd have considered this reverb pedal before the review - there are some great tones coming through which surprised me.
Thanks 👍🏼 yeah, i bought this a year ago, before i knew that much and I was just looking for a decent reverb. Its features are really useful. I’m keen to compare to more desirable pedals and see if it keeps up with them 👍🏼
I feel like eventually my whole board is going to be MXR. My compressor is an MXR custom comp deluxe, modulation is an MXR Uni-Vibe, fuzz is an MXR blue box, boost is an MXR timmy, overdrive is an MXR Shin Juku drive, and I just ordered the MXR reverb. Not complaining, these pedals scratch the itch and are made extremely well. No hipster garbage thrown in that is unusable like "some companies."
My sentiments exactly. I ended up building a new board with MXR pedals. Each time I wanted a pedal, it just happened to be an MXR that worked out for me. It wasn't planned that way.
100% wet mode is for live sound reinforcement / studio use. You’d likely want to use stereo mode with this too. You’d have a TRS jack from a stereo aux channel send on your mixer into the reverb, and back out into the channel return. Then each individual channel on the mixer you have a control for bussing x amount of each instrument into the effect, whilst the fader for each channel controls the amount of dry signal for each instrument that goes to the main stereo mix. That way you could make a mix sound more natural by having all instruments in the same virtual space, or do some funky dubby stuff, or whatever you like. Hope this helps. Cheers.
@@phunkyjunkee whilst technically possible, you wouldn’t really want use a reverb pedal for outputting to 2 amps, you’d create all sorts of issues in the room, you’d be better off just splitting, or using something like a chorus if you really want to use an effect pedal.
Lovely demo as usual. In terms of reverb alternatives, the UA Golden Reverberator should be really to your liking. I love mine, it's really been a gamechanger on my board along with their Starlight delay. Give them a try if you haven't yet.
@@excellerateurbreath It's about placement: if you send overdrive into reverb (the "usual way"), you keep the sound of both effects, if you send reverb into drive (as he does here), you drastically change the sound of the reverb, bring up the decay and change the colour. Only a few players do this (NeilYoung). It's not wrong, but certainly unusual if you want to highlight a reverb-pedal. Hope this helps.
I mostly stick to plate, but the other stuff is a nice wee diversion now and then. Prefer my Walrus Audio Fathom to this MXR. It has a sustain footswitch and a sub octave mode which is good fun.
Jamseyyyyyyy! wow wowow and another wow, after seeing your new guitar escapade?? I said f#$ck it you only live once, i went out and got a fiesta red 62 custom strat, MINT! Then i order what i think is a bullshit amp, the bassbreaker 7 watt, just for that little amp growl, then went on a Peter Green kick and my uncle dropped off a set of 1960, out of phase PAF'S at the studio, this moning that came out of a 1960 gibson L5 , CES, UNBELEVABLEEEEEEEEEE! Then the door bell rings, its fedex with the mxr reverb pedal....My god, this pedal is the best peice of gear i ever bought...EVERYYYY SETTTTINGGG IS A 10! I got so entranced by it, my brother walked in my studio, and told me i looked like a junky lol because as i was playing i went on a nod, probably a little drool, i was tripping out....and i havent as much as even smelled liquor in years, the pedal got me stoned lol...I wanted to say ty for all your videos, but this one imparticular....It compliments ones touch, and feel...I never heard ANY pedal enhance someone vibrato before, did you notice this? it enhances dynamics, im baffled...It has this note definition/seperation thing....Now i need a good fuzz for the strat i have a muff, and a muffish type pedal lol.....gimme a lil' fuzz education, whats your pick? Keep rockin! ill be tuning in....

Great little reverb pedal! Ear-candy for sure. AND you sir, woofy eye-candy for sure. Yum to both!

I could listen to you play for hours
This is a super high quality video, you deserve more subs
The way you demo is insanely helpful and awesome brother.
i’m trying to find that slapback spring reverb but also wanna do deep ambient trippy reverb too - not sure what pedal to het
That gold top DGT is gorgeous.

Full wet is good for wet/dry setup too

Maybe if the reverb is turned right down and you can get a short enough decay
Great demo and video, thank you. I've just ordered this in, to go with my Phase 90 and Carbon Copy. Can't wait!
Thanks for the tip on Savoy Brown, can you recommend me anyone else similar to the style you are playing here? Thanks.
Everyone’s playing guitar on this lovely wet Bank Holiday ! Great video James 👍
Haha, yup, not a bad way to stay away from the greyness! Thank you 🤟🏼
Thats that peter green eery reverb the plate especially! just ordered one....
Amazing demo good sir!
Great review :) this thing is awesome !
cheers!
Can you use the expression pedal in trails mode the same way that you would use the pedal not on trails mode?
Reverb into dirty front end doesn't do this pedal justice. Gets washed. Sounds better after the preamp or clean. Good playing tho.
What about running it through the effects loop?
@@carsandguitars7064 that's what he meant actually.

Thanks! Ooo that is tempting! 🤗🤟🏼
@@JamesOnGuitar I have a CKK infinite reverb pedal..now that's a monster of a pedal for reverb 🤘
@@patrickr6505 🤔 must check it out!
Tool the plunge and bought the MXR!
Nice - so much to play with 🤟🏼
Awesome tones! 👌
Cheers 🤟🏼
Are you overdriving the reverb here? Or do you use a loop?
Ok, later in the video it becomes very obvious. Changes the sound of the pedal dramatically. Interesting choice...
@@stefanstrittmatter6459 can you please fill me in? i thought the overdrive sounded pretty sweet. that is not the pedal though is it? thanks.

Sounds good like always 🎸
How does it stand up against the big guns in the reverb category?
Definitely want to get a couple of other ones to compare - what would you say is one of the big guns? 👍🏼🤟🏼
@@JamesOnGuitar I would say uafx and Strymon
@@eyalzerah yes i think you’re right 👍🏼
Need to watch this later. Now im off to the 64 fender Video:)
Enjoy 😁
I want one but I want it without the shimmery pad reverb
just dont use it?

Thanks Graeme - that looks like a really interesting pedal at a decent price. Might get one for a comparison 👍🏼

I swear he was playing say it ain’t so
It is hard to tell how the sound when you are shredding the whole time
Could have heard it better with less distortion.
👍🏻🤘🏿
i mean can you put the model of the damn pedal in the description at least? is it M300?
Doesn’t sound like it’s in the loop
This would have been a great video if only you had primarily used a clean tone.
Too much distortion on the guitar and the gut really cant play well for this type of demo.
Interesting video but the guitar tone spoils it muddy and not to my taste too much distorted bottom end and bass.
Thanks - fair point, i can see what you mean too, a little mushy. Cheers
Funny, it's exactly what I like about this.
@@JamesOnGuitar just personal taste, but I loved this tone. Makes me think of Peter Green... so a perfect match for some reverb and humbuckers.
stop the cap bro bro
