Chaps, you won't believe this. I've been on the road for months, my van packed with my faithful strat, a modest amp, and a jumble of clothes and camping gear. I've played in pubs, bars, roadside cafes, and bustling city streets, all the while searching for the elusive perfect reverb pedal. Each new town offered a promising lead-an obscure pawnshop in Stoke on Trent, a dusty music store in Cleethorpes, a local facebook marketplace hero in Norwich who supposedly had the holy grail of guitar effects... But every pedal I tried, no matter how unique, fell short of perfect. I'd pretty much given up until I saw you uploaded this video and honestly almost instantly you've solved my problem. What I hadn't done before was to find a pedal with a 'like and subscribe' button. I'd heard about this mystical circuit but had never put more than a minutes thought into trying one... I just rushed to my local guitar shop ("Strum one out" just outside of Cockermouth) and there it was on the shelf. I rushed it home and plugged it in, and I've never heard anything like it. I strummed an E chord and the reverb was so powerful that it impregnated my neighbour. The only downside is that I'm now going to have to pay child support but that's only a minor issue now that I've got my like and subscribe. Cheers guys, you rock.
Lovely and useful description of reverbs in all their forms. You get what you pay for. The Strymon and the Polyverb stayed clear as crystal even when Pete played chords and they were set to multiple echoes. The cheaper ones get a bit muddy trying to process all the incoming.
I really enjoy my Cloud Burst. The basic reverb on it is so deep and clean the shimmer settings are really beautiful. It always turns heads and it's a very inspiring pedal.....it's hard to turn off. My neighbor came knocking one day as I was playing with it. I thought she was going to tell me to turn it down. She stayed for nearly 30 minutes to hear it in person.😊 The Poly verb was amazing.
I just can't belief how much the Big Sky MX stands out. It is truly inspirational to listen to. I just grabbed a used Big Sky today for a stupidly low price. I can't wait to work on it, even if it is now considered 2nd best lol
Reverb in the studio / solo practice / quiet jams is great , massive soundscapes await if you're willing to pay the dosh , but live its a different game. Unless you're a live Ventures / Shadows tribute band a guitars sound slathered in reverb ( and some modulations like chorus ) get eaten up by the cymbals / vocals and other band frequencies , the room / hall may already have natural / unnatural reverb which your PA will fight against to get a decent sound , enjoy the silence as they say of recording but careful with that reverb live 😃👍
I emergency ordered the Evermore from you guys (arrived next day thank you!) after buying a used Morgan MVP23 (no reverb) and it really brought the amp alive, I can't mentally process how people play without reverb
I’ve just started to learn guitar and I obviously don’t understand the concept of all the different pedals , their sounds and how to apply them in asequence . Really love guitar and this will be a valuable lesson and hopefully I can start to purchase pedals and apply them as I explore the guitar journey. Thanks guys much appreciated. 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🎸🎸🎸
My next verb is going to be the Poly Verb, it's not as pricey as I thought it was going to be. I've just odered the Digitech Supernatural and the DigiTech Hardwire RV-7 Stereo Reverbs as I like a bit of vintage in my pedals . Excellent demo guys...
@@stoneysdead689 £399 at Andertons, you may find it cheaper on the usual sites, Reverb, Ebay or online in general...I can't afford it just yet as I bought six pedals last week,,,
I have a Reverb in my spare room , it's like a big black Drain Pipe bolted to the corner . Had it for a very long time now , it beats all my Digital pedals
Dear Pete…I love you, so I say this with love. You have a tendency to (as we say in the biz) “step on” Lee’s lines when you’re mumbling / trailing off softly while Lee is speaking. That moment of “cross talk” makes it very difficult to understand what the both of you are trying to convey. Especially when making a point at the end of a statement. which is something I personally like to hear. A good example of is at the 6:13 mark. Now, please don’t confuse this with your typical back and forth banter found in normal conversations. You guys are both great at it, so don’t change that. Instead, try giving a little bit of “air” between the conversation, then make your point / statement / observations so both you and Lee can be heard. When you’re trailing off softly under your breath, it becomes hard to absorb the dialogue. As someone who genuinely loves the chemistry the both of you share, thanks for all that you do for the guitar community! Peace!
I know UA gets a lot of hate for various reasons (based off Reddit posts I've read over the years), but I absolutely love my UA Golden Reverberator! I also had a Strymon Cloudburst that I did love as well, but I traded it away in a bundle for something else.
The fun thing is: I have loads of shimmer-verbs and IR-verbs in my toolbox (most of them software-based though). They are great to get inspired when noodling around at home and composing (and everything which makes you play more is a good thing, that is a fact!) But when i play live i just use the built in reverb in the backline-amp or use an old boss RV. (Or go direct to the FoH with a pretty cheap modeller).😁 I suspect the more expensive pedals are used more in an home-environment or in studios than in actually live-settings today. But as stated: Nothing wrong with it. I spend way more money on stuff i will only use at home (because it inspires me to play) than on stuff i actually use live.
After checking out all the reverb pedals, I picked the Immerse MkII. Best bang for the buck. All the features I need, and none that I don't need. ( The BigSky is just way too much in terms of price and functions. I don't need all that. ) Immerse has very high quality sounds. Studio reverbs in a pedal.
Great video on reverb. I like that you gave quick explanations for all the different ones. I have only ever used the one in the amp I’m using. Awesome! Now I need to buy the last one you demoed.
You know I've bought a few pedals that Pete recommended and not a single one ended up saying "Like and Subscribe" on them. I may have been getting defective models. Don't worry, I liked and subscribed anyway.
I love that guitar, but the price! Wow! Web site link also says it weighs 10Kg, impressive. Weight lifting and guitar playin are 2 of my hobbies...perfect combination.
did I detect a little Durutti Column during the Ckoudburst?? Great guitar, great playing and not a bad reverb on the table, but that convolution sounds amazing!
Could it be possible to do a video on Delay , especially using the Ducking Effect which most good Delays have , it's a great effect to use when playing lead guitar
Now we need affordable convolution reverbs to come out. I don't think I've heard reverb as good as that Poly Verbs. It just sounds so genuine. The Strymon shimmer is sort of played out by now.
PLEASE...... PLEASE..... do this for acoustic for those of us that play in pubs & clubs - I've popped into Andertons & bought a Cloudburst - it is an awesome reverb but wonder whether I should have gone for the BigSky as I don't use the Forte, but wonder if the type of pickup affects the harmonies
Its a shame Neunaber is rarely featured anywhere any more. To this day those are my absolute favorite verbs, from plate, to hall to the Wet. Anyhow great video anyways Andertons team.
What do you think of TC ELECTRONICS "Hall of Fame II"?? It has all kinds of configurations and some can even be downloaded depending on how you like the sound from a large list... I'm thinking of buying it
Man I was so excited to get that pedal.Given as you said all the pros ,and a lot of my heroes seem to love it. Me though, I couldn't get on with it. Had to sell it.
I’m not a fan of amps/effects with a ridiculous amount of knobs and switches. That’s why I’m getting rid of my katana 50 (software)and going with the fender pro Junior. I’ll get a nice simple reverb pedal and maybe a DS1 or a blues driver and I’ll be good to go. Boss pedals are my favorite. That’s why I got the katana. It sounds awesome but there’s so much stuff involved.
Just get a Helix, 25 reverbs up to 45 sec and a lifetime to spend with all things inside, just wow, modelling all the way for me, buy one and get everything.
Need more Reverb. Gpt the Cloudburst, which is unreal, Boss RV-200, and the Boss RV-6. Don't need anything else. But that doesn't mean I won't buy more.
Reverb is so very awesome! Question: Is there a Gretsch with similar specs at a cheaper price than the one Pete's playing? The sound coming out of those pickups make me want to purchase one today!
‘Play us out’ has been a performing dialogue closure for decades, if not back to prehistoric cave-shadow drama ages. Pls do a cursory assessment of your brain, my poor, suffering friend, did you miss a few millennia of evolution? Good that your humor has evolved intact, lol. 🙂
I like how I've been playing guitar for years and know lots about reverb but i'm still watching this video.
Reverb is love, reverb is life
Lets go
At this point all I’m seeking is confirmation bias. 😅
😉🤣
As long as you like that fact..

I often pop into Strum One Out when I need a new banjo string, they have a Clithero branch too but it's hard to find.
Well done Lee, thorough but not at all patronizing. Good, clean family entertainment you can trust!

Some people watch their favorite tv series when drunk
I watch Lee and Pete demonstrate guitar stuff to me, and I'm very happy with my choice
Poly Verb...phenomenal pedal ! My favorite...most authentic captured reverbs.
Yeah, except you can NOT see the LED's in broad daylight. Terrible design if you ever play outdoors in bright light.
These videos are perfect. Please, keep marking them…and I will keep watching. Cheers!

I think you guys are really on to something with this youtube channel. Definition of infotainment.
Tried a lot of reverb pedals, but the Boss RV6 just works for me. (Covers band playing dad rock)
Happy to see a Gretsch - just got a new Silver Falcon and it's an absolute gem. oh! and Reverb is the sauce. Cheers.

Really useful video. Maybe doing a similar one for all of the common effects would be a good idea.
Great video! Nicely demonstrated. The Neunaber Immerse MkII is a great pedal and really versatile and worth the ££, been using it a while now!

A really nice collection of reverb "incarnations" in this great video/presentation

Does reverb go before or after delay on the pedalboard?
Well, I’m sold. I’ll take them ALL! Lol
I have a good reverb pedal (MXR M300) and a bad sounding from the amp (Bassbreaker 30r) but the reality is that I am too bored to plug it in
Meris Mercury X Modular Reverb System
Ah man that thing at the 5:55 minute mark was the business.
What did you guys use for overdrive during the demo?
I remember that one time i liked the reverb from my amp... Just kidding i never do 😐 i just love the anderton videos
Is Hall reverb meant to sound like a hallway or a concert hall?
In the band room , the last thing i want is a wishy washy reverb killing the tonal impact . Great for bedrooms or recording but not so much live .
If i could only pick 3 pedals, it would be a wah, boss blues driver, and the holy grail reverb
