I wasn't a fan of the garlic sauce by itself, but once paired with the broccoli--wow!! Absolutely delicious! I wanted to eat the broccoli as my main course.
Great recipe! The only change I made was to remove lemon seeds when I cut the lemons ... didn't have to fish them out of the roasted lemons. I love broccoli, so this recipe is now a favorite. Thank you, Anita!!
I'm just starting to go vegan and I tried your recipe, I'm in love with this dish, absolutely genius and the smell while you cook is amaaaazing! Thank you for share with us
Tried this last night following every step (with the exception of adding the honey)...and it was AMAZING! Simply and so full of wonderful blended flavors. One of my favorite recipes moving forward!
Y'all are acting like roasting a lemon is a lot of work. Throw it in the oven while you make the main course and it will be done in perfect timing. Love this recipe. Thanks.
Just the lemon and garlic being roasted is worth the time! I also bake bread so I'm thinking, fresh baked bread, lathered with some roasted garlic butter, some roast beef brisket left over from the weekend, and the broccoli with the lemon sauce. Yummmm! Dinner is done for today! Thanks SO much for the ideas!!
I cant wait to try this I love broccoli and lemon so I know adding the garlic will make it a delicious treat and the plus side all healthy...thanks for this great recipe...Anita....
I am following this recipe for Thanksgiving dinner. Added cauliflower to the mix and extending the time. The addition of roasted garlic and lemon is brilliant. Thanks for sharing this recipe!
I tried it! But I use 4 lemons so I can save it for later. The combination of garlic and lemon is mind blowing, I never know I can enjoy broccoli in this way. Thank you so much!
Obviously not everyone is into lemons. I am a citrus person and I have found if you want something special it always takes a little longer. Obviously you can divide the sauce and use again. Can’t wait to try. Thank you for sharing.
This is a great recipe I just use lemon juice and i Bought the peeled garlic and put in foil with olive oil and roast it in the oven and it comes out the same way. Sooo good! 😋
update: I got this to work (almost). This time I used three lemon halves instead of two, and i put about a tablespoon and a half of olive oil instead of a single tablespoon. I put the temp to 350 degrees and left the lemons in for only 30 minutes before taking them out. I also put it closer to the middle instead of the bottom of the oven. The oil on the bottom was slightly burned but the lemons themselves were not. I was able to squeeze a ton of good pure juice out of them and the dish turned out amazing. I am a huge sour fan and I personally loved it but it couldve been a tiny bit less sour. For those who are looking for ways to not burn the lemon, hopefully this helps. original post: So I tried this and it was sort of good at the end, my lemons did not look like yours bad the end, it was mostly burned. I used a clear pyrex glass container about the size of yours, and I only used one lemon cut in half instead of 2. The second lemon half was a bit used up too. I was able to squeeze the juice out but it wasn't great mixed with some of the burned taste. Is there something I can do so that it doesn't burn? Maybe some aluminum foil to ensure the juices stay in place a bit instead of spread and burn? I'm very new to cooking so im sure one of these things made a problem.
Have you ever checked the Actual temperature of your oven, using an oven thermometer? Most ovens are not accurate, often up to 50 degrees; this makes an ENORMOUS difference. (My oven is slightly over 30 degrees hotter what it is set for. ) Buy an oven thermometer and check your oven. It's worth it.
I just put broccoli in a bowl,..drizzle with wishbone fat free Italian dressing (15 calories per 2 tbpns!!--wow), toss, put on sprayed cookie sheet, sprinkle with garlic powder, and onion flakes. bake on LOW (300 tops) for 45-60 minutes. DONE. crispy edges, totally delicious. I put a blob of Dijon mustard on the side of the plate and dunk. holy momma is that good. I think the whole she-bang is under 125 calories. LOOOOL!! diet WIN. I been practically living on this for 3 months and lost 60 lbs so far.
robert smith I will definitely be trying both your recipe and the one in the video. I have a feeling that yours will win out because I can’t justify all the effort for one person! I must admit though, I love roasted garlic so I might bake with the broccoli. Yumm,
45 min for broc? It must be utter mush and have ZERO nutrients. If u really want soft broc with nutrients and burnt edges....u drop it in boiling water for 30 seconds....then broil for two min. Do not put it in water and let it come to a boil.... u have to flash blanch it. 30 second in water, at most 2 min under broiler that’s been on for five min....watch the broc so it doesn’t burn. That’s less than 3 minutes of cooking....yet it will be tender and STILL have nutrients
I’m a guy who doesn’t cook just trying to learn the best way to roast some broccoli...didn’t know I’d be getting in to a Gordon Ramsey tutorial but I’m not mad lol. This looks incredibly amazing.
I normally don't roast my veggies in the oven... Usually I like to sautee and be done with it since I'm impatient lol... But I love this recipe with the lemon dressing... Maybe I'll show some patience and start roasting my veggies thanks to you Anita🙄
I will make this the lazy/quick way.😀 I will try this with broccoli, garlic powder, olive oil and lemon juice and a little honey. Then I'll roast it. Thanks for the inspiration.
Really should have known about this before. Just watched a clip with pro chef saying "Nothing worse then cooked broccoli" Amen, glad to find an alternative.
Gosh ! Amazing ! I can smell those lemons. Thanks very much forbthe recipe . I'd steam the broccoli first , then stick it in the oven for about ten minutes . Due to health problems I have to have my food soft especially veg.
Thank you Anita C. I had to try this recipe. The cooking time is a turn off. However, this recipe has everything I like, roasted Broccoli, Garlic and Lemon. 💙💛 It is very delicious! 😃😋 The roasted garlic and lemon will work in a slew of recipes. I’m thinking potatoes and asparagus.
I had 1kg broccoli and used 2 lemon which turned out to be sourly. 1 tsp of honey made it a bit less sour. The garlic wasn't as intense in taste. I actually noticed it when I cut the steam., very mild smell of garlic. Overall it is a great recipe one just has to find out the right balance. Thank you for sharing 🙂
I am glad to find a recipe with broccoli that does not involve cheese. Thank you for sharing your recipe.

It’s called ‘elephant’ garlic.’ Its slightly milder in taste vs. regular size garlic head. You can often find them in specialty stores.
