I tried adjusting the floats like u said are u bending the tab out or in. Fuel just keeps pouring out of the over flow tube just like yours. I did get a cheap chinese carb could that just be the issue?
Yes you have the same issue I did! You need to bend that little tab up. I have a video explaining it better I will put the link here: ua-cam.com/video/wsXblMyMpD0/v-deo.html
Bought a petcock, new carb...has fresh 93 gas and has spark but cant get it started. Has compression. New carb and i had it running for 1 min but only on full throttle and it didnt sound at all loke it was full throttle either. Now wont start at all....im lost.
If you spray starting fluid will it pop off? It’s likely the carburetor. The reproduction carbs are pretty shit. I would clean the old one and put it back on. Likely the new one the float is not adjusted and not giving the bike enough gas. If you can, use the original. Best of luck👍🏼
What if you still have the oil injection? Do you use the brass fitting on the other side? Also, what about the two brass fittings on this side that have nothing hooked up to them?
@@Mechanic_kid What about the two fittings on the side. It looks like you are not using them. What are they? I have a stock carb but i also have this one brand new. It came with the bike. That is why I am asking.
@@Mr10usdad I don’t remember the two brass fittings your referring to. If your gonna run the oil injection, there will be 2 lines coming out of the pump I think. The big one will be oil coming down from the tank. The other will go to the intake manifold or maybe carburetor. If your going to run premix, go to an auto parts store and buy an assortment of vacuum caps to plug them or just stick a bolt in the line. Any open port will cause a vacuum leak. If I remember right the pw80s had weird brass fitting on the hose to clamp it tight. Try pulling it off with pliers. If can’t you might be able to cut it with exacto blade and then run all new hose. But if I remember correctly, it was just easiest to run premix and cap off all the oil pump stuff. Hope you get it figured out👍🏼
@@Mechanic_kid Thanks! It does have a weird brass fitting on the oil line on each end. I think the two brass fittings on the top of the carb are just air vents.
I take it that the oil injector is blocked off ? I have an early yellow PW 80 and it leaks gas too and I want to adjust the needle ,but I don't know how to get the oil injector line to the carb off without ruining it , so I would like to know this before I can take the carb off ? I see you did not disconnect an oil line. Do you know of any suspension upgrades for this bike too? Thanks
I believe you have to actually remove the brass fitting that goes into the carb and not the oil line. I can’t remember tho. If it leaks gas you just need to adjust the float so it shuts off the gas a little sooner... hope this helps👍🏼
@@Mechanic_kid does the brass fitting thread in or do you have to pull it with pliers? You cant get the carb out without the line removed first, and I don't want to ruin anything and want to be able to put it back together after fixing the needle level to make it quit leaking .. Thanks
@@Mechanic_kid Thank you ! I have not checked back for quite a while, but that is the info I needed and no one ever addressed the oil tube removal in a video. I can run some tubing back to the oil tank from the oil pump and bypass the oil carb with out removing the pump and run premix. Or either. I will have to get a plug for sealing the oil inlet in the carb .I have a 1983 yellow PW I got in 84 for $100.00.. I used to take it to Red Bud as a pit bike when allowed, and the Indy 500 infield ,when it was the public roaming area in the mid to late 80's . It fit in the trunk of a big car back then. They can be dangerous for inexperienced riders
Good Video. Ok I have watched everyone of your videos, I have enjoyed them all and learned some New Stuff. Look forward to your future Uploads.
Like the blue and black combo
Yes it’s a clean look!
Two hose nipples on the left side of your carb - are those both vent lines?
I didn’t realize there was a pw80 as the pw50 is soo iconic… we had one circa 1990
Hey where did you get that muffler and black plastics from?
Not sure, they were already on the bike when I got it. Check ebay, someone might be making reproduction plastic kits👍🏼

Loosen the air screw, mine was fully tighened down from the previous owner so i loosened it and now it runs perfect. It didn’t even idle before.

I always plug off the oil injection and run premix. Best practice if you want it to run a long time. Only way to guarantee it has oil.
@@Mechanic_kid Thanks!

@@shermanpup the brass fitting is just a press fit into the carb. Gently pull it out with pliers.
