Such a simple trick... had to cycle mine 3 time to get it cleared out, flush/fill, flush/fill, flush/fill and boom... after the 3rd time, no more overflow. My bike has had a slow drip for a year and the constant drip finally rotted the seal on my starter motor... so I replaced the starter today and was about to replace the carburetor out of frustration (easier and almost as cheap as a rebuild). But thanks to this video, there is no need. Not only did it stop the overflow leak, but the throttle is more responsive than it was. Thank you again.... this video has been up for 4 years (at time of my post)... wonder how many folks you have saved. Great video!
This technique saved me from having to pull the carb. I also sprayed loads of carb cleaner in there, alternating carb cleaner and blasts from the compressor. Worked like a charm.
I was too lazy to take out my air compressor so I just used a bike pump thinking that it would be less pressure (less chance of damage) but still enough forceful air to push things through and it worked like a charm. This is genius. Thanks for sharing! I wasn't looking forward to taking out the carb.
Petrol leaking out of overflow form chamber / float bowl at bottom of carb on rfz70 cc kids quad. Took petrol pipe of petrol tap on the carb side, used a small air compressor to blow up into the pipe. Petrol blows out of the carb top and bottom. Put petrol pipe back on petrol tap. Moved the quad away from spilt petrol, then churned the starter a good few turns, it fired up on tick over. Let it run, lifted back wheels off the ground to give it a few revs. Set it down, let it tick over then switched it off. Waited looking at the overflow pipe, nothing, no leaking petrol. 👍 Happy days. Thanks for this fix. 😊
You’re the man! I just got out to the farm to rip and carb was flooded. Thankfully I have an air compressor on my truck. Fired up first kick!! Thank you so much!
Just tried this on my 03 525 exc… worked great!! Just finished completely restoring from the frame up. Was frustrated bout having to pull the carb off to rebuild again. Thank you for being a genius and sharing your knowledge.
Genius!! Just did this on my 17 KTM 250 sx because it was leaking fuel because of the float. Used a bicycle pump fitting air mattress air mattress attachment to it. That fit into my line...it blew it all out. Fixed the leak!!! Thanks dude!! 🤙🏻
Should have thought of that. I have beat slightly too as well. But my main fix was just twist the carb towards me and loosen half way the screws and the float would usually drop. Awesome tip jay really learn a lot on here.
Twenty year old 350 Rancher leaked after choke and fuel line replacement. I again removed all the parts needed to access the carb preparing to pull it and check/replace float valve when I found this video. One little blast did the trick.
I've been running fuel injection so long I forgot the few things I used to know about carbs. Then my girlfriend bought a beta xtrainer and it was leaking gas like crazy when the bike was on it's side. I found this video before I took anything apart and your technique fixed the issue!!! Thank you!
I just bought a new bike and was excited to ride it. But when I unloaded it and turned the fuel on it started puking gas. For a week I thought I had to rebuild the carb. But then I tried this fix and my issue was gone! Thank you!
Just trailered my bike, '95 KTM 620 Duke, across the country and of course I went to start it and fuel's leaking everywhere! I did tap on the bowl old school but found this video, shot a bit of air through the carb and like magic it quit leaking and I'm off for the day to go riding! Great advice my friend!! 👍🇺🇲
I DONT KNOW HOW I FOUND THIS VIDEO BUT THANK YOU..... HOLY SHIT JUST PUT MY BIKE BACK TOGETHER WAS ABOUT TO SHIT MY SELF WHEN GAS STARTED PoURING OUT EVERY TIME I TURNED ON THE GAS PEACOCK. HERES MY SUB YOU EARNED IT...
Thanks Jay. I tried this and it worked. I didn't have my compressor nearby so I just blew it out by mouth. I want to add though that I noticed I slit in the hose that connects the fuel tank to the carb. I cut off the bad area, I assume this would be something to look out for too.
Man I tell you I had no faith in this as my carb on mine would leak a gallon a miniute it felt like I went out there with the air compressor and blew all the lines but the overflow and it blew all kinds of dirty fuel and gunk out and now it runs as if I just brought it home from the dealership this was the absolute best video thanks man
I can't believe that this worked!!! New 150cc scooter suddenly ran rough, stalled, couldn't restart, gas dripping from carb. I was all ready to take out the carb etc. then I tried this. Drained the carburetor so that the float valve would open, then blew air into the gas line while leaving the carb drain open. It started on the next try, I repeated the carb drain and actually saw some small black particles in the gas.I got it all back together, went for a ride, no hesitation, no stalls, easy to start, I am amazed.
I found my overflow hose was leaking fuel this morning. It has done it here and there. I'm not sure which hose on my 2004 Suzuki GS500F to blow out. This would be awesome to do. Years ago I had the jets redone and the carbs worked on. At that time I was shooting flames out the muffler and it was backfiring and would only work on full choke. It got re-jetted and worked like new after that. Now recently the issue I have is to get it to start I have to add a touch of throttle and get it up to 2500-3000 rpm for a few seconds and then it will idle perfectly. It could definitely be related. Also around my headers I have a little oil leakage and it looks sooty. This was a neat video. Thanks and God bless 🙏 Jeff - Sunny Central Florida
'75 Honda cb360t been sitting mostly for over two years. Gas just came pouring out after it fired up. About to try this later. Will report back. I rebuilt/cleaned the carbs 3 years ago, and really hoping I don't have to fiddle around with the jets again. So tedious...
@@rbarron007 lol nope. honestly, I haven't touched it since... sadly.. I have some carb re-build kits and plan on just re-building the carbs anyway which will hopefully resolve these issues.. I would start off with a very very low PSI.
Yes less pressure is better. I hit it with a couple quick squirts with a 20 lb air tank and the air leak out through the gasket at the bowl not good. Although this is a great tip thanks for the info.....
He is blowing the air into the main fuel line coming from the gas tank/petcock or on off valve that goes into the carburetor..I did it on my 2000 wr450f and it worked like a charm.
Great video - will try this - my 250 EXC gets this a lot - it sat for a while - cleaned float vve etc. - I'll try this instead of pounding on the carb (guilty)
Where did you remove that hose from that you are blowing compressed air into? Is that the hose the from the tank bottom that supplies the carb?? Thanks.

Me too
Same. Happened to me 2 days ago
I had this issue today, March 2023 , found this video on UA-cam and it worked like a charm! You saved my weekend ride! Thank you!

Was your bike sputtering
I cleaend my carb 2twice runs good for 20mins then it gets dirt in it again i wonder if this will help
You probably need to add an inline filter to prevent dirt build up and or clean the gas tank

Wow! I was dreading pulling the whole bike apart to get to the carb. Thanks a ton, this saved me a lot of time and headache.
You can just twist the carb around
Awesome! Been riding for years and this is the first time I’ve seen this technique. Saved me an hour!

BEST video I've seen in a long time ... clear and directly to the point ... thank you very much you're awesome !!!!
Thank you. Never heard of this. Tried and was 100 percent successful. Just saved me money and riding time.
Worked perfectly, many thanks. I'd just changed a piston and the carb started overflowing; gave this a go and it solved it straight away.
Thank you I was having lawn mower carb problem and your video fixed it. Very rare a quick fix video works out
Just did it to my bike and worked perfectly. Thank you. Now I need to get my back brakes working

I do that almost everyday on someone’s bike .

wow this worked like a charm for my bike, thanks for the tip!

This is by far the easiest fix ive had to do to my ktm. Thanks alot
Glad i found this video I'm away to try this tomorrow. I had to push my bike 6 miles home, it won't start.
You saved my day...and me and my Hondas relationship ! Thanks man

I can’t believe that just worked! What a good trick!
Finally found this video..will do the same method tomorrow..thanks
Best tip ever my brother, thank you so much
Worked for me with a small bike/ball pump. Thanks!
Hey thanks for this I did this on my 88 kx250 that had been sitting for a while and it worked thanks.
Awesome!!! It got it fixed! But I used carb cleaner instead air! I don't have air pressure like yours
You just saved me a hell of a lot of time. Brilliant!!
Great video, Btw i used a bikecycle pump and it worked great. Just in case if you dont have a air compressor.
Awesome idea! Saved me a tear down! Thank you.
So glad!
Sweet! Just did it and totally worked!
Thanks for the help it 100% works but if I don't you need a new carburetor
Worked like a CHAMP!
Thank you, my TTR is now good to go. Easy fix. Cheers

Thanks for the video. My 02 CR 250 just started doing this I'll try your suggestion.
New to carb maintenance and used the advice here. How does one buy you a cup of coffee or a beer? Thanks for the quick and great advice!
How come I didn't know this? Haha wow this is so common with the fuel these days!! Thx for throwing this out there for us. Keep em' comin boss.
69% of the time works every time
Classic Ronie Mac!
Yeah I’ve fixed 6 or 9 bikes like that
He said most of the time.
“That doesn’t make sense.” 😂
How does it work every time when it's 69% of the time🤣🤣
He is blowing the air into the main fuel line coming from the gas tank/petcock or on off valve that goes into the carburetor..I did it on my 2000 wr450f and it worked like a charm.
thank you so much, hust bought a bike with carb trouble and this fixed it!! 👍👍
Great tip! Simple but effective. Mine always sticks.
Is it through the drain hose or the fuel intake hose?
yes
All good. Found the answer down the line!
Which one was it?
@donwjaco had the answer. Fuel line mate

Thanks this helped me out a lot! 🔥
You don’t specify which tube you’re blowing air through, is this just the fuel line to the carb? Looking to try this fix on my bike the float is stuck
Yes in the fuel line into the carb--
This vid saved me lots of time! Thanks!!
Good looks . I may have to rebuild but ill try this 1st
Lyk how it goes . Thanks Bros
This saved me a carb rebuild
What line do I put air through?bc mines leaking from the gas overfill line do I just blow into that?
I had already taken my carburetor off and everything, I really with I saw this before that lol.
Just picked an 03 yz125 and know nothing about bikes, and the carbs leaks a little out of the over flow when the gas is on so ill give this a shot! What hose are you blowing compressed air into, the fuel line that goes from tank to carb?
Any luck? Just picked up a 2011 yz125 and the carb likes to leak fuel out of the hoses
Aaron Crain ya i rebuilt the carburetor and adjusted the float height to spec and now its stopped leaking
He said on another comment it was the main gas line
Mine is leaking too, it kind of worked but also check the seals
I should have added that My buddy told Me He just blows in his and it works , I tried that but can't blow hard enough I guess
( pause lol ) I thought about trying this but was too scary soft like a MuFu Worried I may do some damage
But now I'm trying this before I attempt to replace the float
