- Hello all! Your fortnightly offering from the Chateau de Rosieres is a medley of garden gorgeousness, camera calamities, Marc jokes, the finale of Operation Terence, and buried in amongst this is a very important announcement that will affect the future of the chateau and everybody in it.
Thank you for all of your help and understanding in the past few weeks - hopefully this will explain a bit of what we've been going through. We've been particularly supported by our wonderful Patreon community. If you want to join us over on Patreon then you'll find plenty of updates on our daily life, in-depth looks at different parts of our project, and plenty of general chat. All money raised through Patreon goes directly to a non-profit 'Association' that supports the renovation and maintenence of those parts of the chateau and estate that we will open to the public. / chateaurosieres
That is the best way to start to garden. You just have to get stuck in and figure out things and learn as you go. Many things are instinctual. You will learn quickly and get hooked like the rest of us. 👒

Amy you need to create raised beds for your veggies. Do a couple and add more each season. It is much easier and you can use recycled blanks to make them. Congrats on your great news. Do you take work away guests. My daughter needs to sort out her french. She is really good with children, animals and can cook!
I'm in Alabama and decided this year to plant string beans and tomatoes in pots. So, I started with seeds. All was going well inside the house. In fact, the beans got so tall, I figured I'd have to move them to other pots. Anyway, when I moved them outside, they almost died. So, I got them into a bit of shade and now they're doing great! The tomatoes from seeds are growing strong but no flowers or tomatoes yet. But, I did buy 3 other tomato plants at one of our box stores (Lowe's) and they all have flowers and tomatoes on them. So, just watch your beans go!! CONGRATULATIONS ON THE BABY! Such wonderful news. Please do take care. I love watching your videos but I can certainly wait. Amy, take care of you and your little one. Both of you (as well as Clement and Marc) are so much more important than a video! And, your talk over of the original film was excellent! No troubles at all!

If it had been a black and white film it could have been an old silent movie!! You’ve done really well, remember we all start out as beginner gardeners . It’s better slightly too deep than too shallow and the rain when planting is always helpful. Oh- a little tip for the garden- draw up a sketch of your planting area and mark on it what you have planted and where. It’s so much easier to look back on it and know what’s happening.

Well done on all those plants. The gates look great. Congratulations on a new family member, Please take care of yourself and don't worry about the vlogs not being regular. A small solar powered floating water fountain pump for the pond will stop mosquitoes as they dont like running/moving water only still. Easier than fish

Must say I have been expecting this news for a while. So very happy for you and take care. A note that may make your planting easier, especially the beans, plant them in little pots to start and then when they are a reasonable size transplant them into the garden.

You guys are adorable! You stay very positive. So many of us would love to be like that. I know in the background you have everyday problems plus extra! Je comprend! I have type I diabetes. Had to go to three different hospitals, test after test. Wrote down all my food, blood sugars, medicine, 4 to 6 shots a day. Had severe morning sickness. My Mother would say’”oh, not again!” when I told her I was pregnant. Never happy. Maybe worried. Was suppose to only have 2. I had 4! All c-sections! I now have medical issues because of all the surgeries. But I’d NEVER give up my children! The first one was born on my birthday 🎂 birthday 🥳! He’s 40!I absolutely loved their childhood. Congrats for both of you!!! 💕👍☺️🌿🌸🌼
Oh wow what a lot to go through!!! But I agree they’re so worth it! Wish I could have more, even though the pregnancies are tough, but I’m too old now! Even this one is a bit of a miracle!
You're telling the story about the wheat and I have to tell you my garden story. I'm a terrible gardener, too. I've tried for the last few years with varying degrees of failure. The lettuces came out great, but everything else...sigh. Well, a couple years ago, we went to the "family farm", about 300 miles away where my husband's ancestors settled, and one of his cousins still farms the area, growing mostly wheat and lentils. They were in the middle of wheat harvest and we gathered up some bundles of trampled wheat that the machines left behind and brought it home. Fast forward to last fall, and I decided to cast a handful of the seeds into the ground as winter wheat. Well, this spring ONE single seed sprouted and is now a little head of wheat. I was just telling my bestie that I'm going to harvest that one head and plant those seeds for next year and hope for a more bountiful harvest! I won't be able to have a *field* of it, given that our back garden is only about 10 meters by 20 meters, and much of that is patio and deck, but maybe I can have a single garden box with enough wheat to make a couple loaves of bread...in time.
