  • Did I find a tank? Everyone was screaming at me to dig it up to find out. What I did find was an amazing Nazi eagle cap badge which to this day is one of my favourite finds.

Roger that, it is indeed a tank barrel. AT ALL COSTS: Dig that thing up. Everything seems to be preserved well and a tank like that could get allot of attention. Contact a few tank museums and get some funding to get it towed out and taken to a good home for display and or restoration. PLEASE do this. There are SO few tanks left around.

So many people here who played world of tanks and now think they're experts in all things tanks. No, this isn't a tank, if the "barrel" was attached to anything you could be able to see at least part of it sticking out of the ground. No, it isn't a German 12,8cm, its far too small and looks nothing like the K.44 apart from the fact that also has a Pepperpot muzzlebreak. If it even is a cannon barrel, it very well may be an odd pipe, it's likely a field artillery piece from the 1950s-60s.

+Blake Nichols Could be, but Dan's "My medal detector finds WW2 Tank" has over 2 million views.
Dan's video "My medal detector finds WW2 Machine Gun" has close to 2 million views.
Dan's video "Pulling the pin on a live WW2 hand grenade" has over 2.5 million views, but the rest of Dan's videos average a hundred thousand views more or less.
Dan's "CRIME SCENE! Bloodied Gun found medal detecting" is a great example of reintroducing videos for more views.
Crime scene bloodied gun has over one million views, but another view titled "The gun I found in the woods" has under five hundred thousand.
Still Dan's video uploads are better than most of the History and Discovery channels regurgitate crap.

It is not a tank the date of 1928 rules that out Germany was in economic stagnation at the time and it's five years before the Nazi's came to power and six years before they agreed with Russia to covertly develop tanks and none of the German pre war tanks were capable of mounting such a barrel. It is not an anti tank gun either as the size would indicate a calibre far higher then the Wehrmacht possessed prior to Barbarossa. Two options remain anti aircraft gun or vent pipe, personally I think it's a vent pipe and I think Dan saw something that led him to the same conclusion or he'd have gone back and had a go at digging it up as that would be any detectors dream to find even an artillery piece sorry guys it's scrap junk nothing more interesting.

tank barrels ranged anywhere from 20mm autocannons to 152mm howitzers ("tank" being very broadly used to describe armored fighting vehicles with autonomous movement capability) - the russian T-60 had a 20mm autocannon, while another russian tank, the KV-2, was equipped with a 152 mm cannon that was mainly used to attack fortifications but also had a HEAT shell against armored targets and hardened bunkers.
there is also the SU-100Y with a 130mm naval gun, etc. etc. etc.
there were also numerous russian tanks with 57mm barrels, and 45mm barrels, like the ZSU-57, T-34-57, ZIS-30.
damn, It'd be a crime not to dig that barrel up and see what's it attached to.

Caden Goddard Yeah but the number does bot have to be a date... and it might still be some weapon build in 1928 and well used in the 2. Ww, for all we know the number could mean anything.

Yes David. Precisely. The barrel is quite long. About 2-1 meters in length. It also has a suppressor at the tip. This was used to make tank cannons Fire infront and not make a lot of noise to the people behind it. Basically, the shots are loud in front of the barrel, but a bit silent behind it.

Yes, you did find part of a plane. That's a piece that goes on a wing, it's put over top of two other pieces on the bottom of a wing to help it hold together better and be more aerodynamic.

Hi Dan, unfortunately thats not a gun barrel. Its a length of pipe from a pump system. The component on the end is called a foot valve (Or strainer) and its used to stop stones and large debris from being drawn into the pipe as the water is sucked in by the pump. Keep up the videos, keep up the enthusiam and a massive well done for you charity work. Best regards, Dylan

The hole in the tree is a spy post. Soldiers would sit up on a ledge in there and spot things out from a distance.
