- I finally find a gap in the weather and get metal detecting for the first time this year and find some amazing Roman silver coins along with other interesting artefacts.

+Deep Digger Dan Yeah no kidding... lol. Years ago, I did an art show up in Great Falls Montana.. where Western Artist Charley Russell lived... A guest of mine, Alfred Hitchcock's daughter, Patricia O'Connell, and I went on a tour of Russell's home, there... and I remember her saying, if the walls could talk.
I was remembering that when I saw those coins.. Good for you.

If I found Roman items here, it would change world history, lol, Well so long as I didn't find it a museum. [just trying to be funny]. To think, you pick up stuff that was held by Romans and other ancient people the last time someone held them, that is gold.

I'm so jealous of you Dan! Nothing like finding ancient history! The oldest coin I've ever found was 105 years old, and it was in my front yard, lol. That's what I get for living in Kansas.

Great video as usual Dan. I like the photos at the end. My brother and I just got metal detectors. Still a lot of snow here in Newfoundland Canada but we're itching to get out... I mean "GET IN" lol.
Great video Dan! The brick with the led on was about in the 1800-1920s when they used lead instead of cement! By using (non rusting metal like lead) because it holded longer and was reusable! Keep up the great work!

The copper disc with the spike on the back you found at 6 min is a roofing fixing used on man made slate roofing tiles .Yet again another great show!!

Hi Dan, Lovely crotal bell... nice horse....WOW! stunning Roman coins...:) ive found several of the wee cannons....they did fire..Georgian-Victorian... great finds & video, cheers,G;) ps. as for the spade and shoes...bury them!!
Great finds Dan . I always take a little plastic box with me filled with bits of foam soaked in olive oil , Any find made of bronze or alloys of , such as your crotal bell , i put straight into the oily box . It stops the oxidisation in its tracks and keeps the lovely patina from vanishing before your eyes .

That Crotal Bell is an old one id say... medieval old. As good a one as you could ever find!

Spot on with your bell guess! It's just surface rust, it is oxidising! All the dirt protected it! So it may get worse sadly! Great video! Good to see you back at metal detecting! Keep going with the informational videos aswell! All great!

Well done. Great finds and good video. I should be so lucky! Still, last Monday, sat it the doctor's surgery with the dreaded winter lurgy, feeling very down-in-the-mouth, I got talking to the guy sat next to me who tells me he has a 60 acre farm in the nearby Pendle Hill/Blacko Tower area! In like Flint - "Has it ever been detected?", "No", "Any chance of giving me permission, split any spoils 50/50?", "Sure, why not, come and go as you please". Was nearly skipping out of that surgery. Got up there for an hour today in a nice bit of sun, amongst horses and rabbits, after a long break. Just got to find any good stuff now instead of many horseshoes (the biggest collection in the NW) and my first hammered. Am 70 next but great this hobby, Ain't it?

That bell has oxidized that's why it was in worse shape. You should put these metals into a wet tissue until you gave it to the museums for further restorations.
