This guy is awesome. Just a beginner here. I know taking apart brake & suspension systems, repairing them & replacing parts is very easy. After 10 yrs $$$$$$$. He just solved my issue the way I like it. Thank you Bearded Man. Your Great....Work Smart not Hard.....
You are a natural teacher( I know from 30 yrs experience). Fun, informative, easy to follow directions. Keep it up please.
I waited till tonight to watch this video because I was working this morning when I looked at my phone and saw the notification. And there is no sense watching your videos without a good old rock of bourbon on the rocks. So now I am sitting here enjoying some Jim Beam on the rocks, entertaining as always, keep it up👍😎.
I just finished making mine. The fence worked like a charm. It was much easier to cut and drill holes in the angle iron than I thought it would be. Thanks!
Did you find long lengths of the extruded fence or simpy butt pieces together?
Amazingly simple, I'm totally going to build/buy this when I finish building a miter stand cabinet! Thanks for the video!
I happened upon your video and decided to watch. You crack me up. I couldn’t get past the beginning... twice.. without laughing. The third time was a charm. I’m going to subscribe just to watch the comedy show. Thank you.
Tanks for the video and the good mood that you bring. Greatings from France.
the author does like to from scratch, shaping and trimming wood from large blocks into fine finished products. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxD-QRFQz730FJEh4f9BYSf-nkIMIC9hL_ as another reviewer mentioned, most projects require a lot of high-dollar equipment that most of us dont have the room or budget for. But, knowing how to do these things, even if we wont be able to practice the full stack project, is still great.
This is giving me all kinds of ideas... I’m thinking threaded inserts for the angle iron with some room for adjustability and leaving the ability to temporarily remove the whole thing. Love the bolting method for t-track... the screws always suck in plywood, especially if in a dado groove. No need for epoxy wit bolts either
Yes, love it! I was thinking even If I had The luxury of having a workbench, I would not want the track to be there. Great video though, you are a cuckoo but makes your video more fun to watch!
I couldn’t help but notice that poster of all those pipes behind your miter saw. My favorite pipe style is a Canadian with a little Dunhill Early Morning Pipe for my smoking pleasure. Cheers and thanks for your videos.
My new favorite channel. Well done sir.
I just adore this. I can't have it, but I adore it. I have one bench that I need for various jobs. Maybe with slotted t-tracks in the countertop so I can slide it forward and back, and a few small dowel holes for quick alignment... then I'll be able to mount multiple tools to the same spot as long as I can adjust their height. I already had to make big adjustable fences for my router and drill press. Maybe I can make it one fence, multiple tools. Not to mention having that one long and flat plane.
Love the way it slides out the way
When I build my work tables I always build them 1/2" short and screw a "sacrificial" 1/2" piece of plywood ontop to protect the actual table top. When it gets messed up simply remove it and put a new one on.
Excellent design - just ordered my parts to do. Thank you!
Cool fence! I will be making one of those this weekend. Thanks for sharing.
Great idea. I might suggest adding 3 prong nut with 1/4 bolts anf thumb screw for angle iron allows whole system to be removed if you need work space.
Please make more videos! You do amazing stuff, both with videos and with woodworking.
Another great video. Thanks!!
Simple but EXTREMELY effective!!
Jason, You ain't right.... LOL, Great Channel. Great Attitude.
Just finished this today, inspired by your video!! Looks awesome!!
Know I finally have a use for that dusty aluminum T-track which I removed from the ceiling some time ago. Thanks man !!!
Love this dude and his abilities, but DAMN! This fence system is worth more than my miter saw and workbench combined
I have a very similar setup to this at work.... but keeping a spare 10" spacer rather than 12" makes for easier mathing for me and the people I work with :)
Really enjoy and learn a lot from your videos. You are so funny too.
Really good idea. Great instructions although I would have liked a closer view of you using the .125 thick tool to set the extruded alum piece. Thanks for a great video and I look forward to your next video!! 👍👍👍👍👍
I still didn’t understand why he set it back
Just wanted to say that I am watching and enjoying all of your videos. Even as a relatively experienced woodworker, I have picked up some really useful tips. I will try using undermount runners (once I get over how expensive they are-but hope to make up the money in saved time).
Can you do a video on how you finish with Rubio? What products you use and the overall process
Bro. You’re a legend. The quality and personality in this video earned you a sub. Great video man!
Entertaining and useful as always. Thank you!
So I had done the same thing a couple years ago, but just scrapped the fences and inset t track into the work surface. This frees up a ton of space and also lets you cross cut stock that might be less than straight
I like your humour, great video info, you have given me some good ideas, thanks!
That idea is going to be used for my chop saw for metal.
Can you do a video on drilling angle iron with no shavings? That was impressive!
OK the "so the next thing me need to do" joke got a sub.
I like your pipe chart , your mitre saw fence is ok too.
another great video...thanks Jason
Great tip on the 1/8" offset. I hadn't though about that, but makes perfect sense!
While i would agree, i was a little confused later on when he talked about setting the aluminum flush against the saw fence. Maybe it was just me, but I feel like he contradicted himself later in the video. Such an awesome idea though
@@R53Driver
Same here!
Very good project. Thanks
Jason I’m mid fifties disabled use a wheelchair and had 2 small strokes which resulted in me losing my short term memory so I can’t remember anything I’ve just started woodworking and still trying to finish the inside of my shed in U.K. would you have any videos on a miter saw station at all. I have some tools not even some basic ones but willing to give it a go. I find your videos very entertaining and found out I can remember bits from your videos as also funny.
I would just like to say thank you any improvement is a bonus. But thanks and keep up the fantastic job and videos you do
Cheers steve👨🏼🦽🇬🇧
Great idea! Thanks for waking us through it. “We” appreciate it. (There’s no we...ha ha)
Bloody fantastic jason, thanx for another great video x.
Roberto from italy.
Hi started watching you videos and are really enjoying them. I love to do wood work but do not have a big work shop like every one in the USA. , i just work outside and do small projects. But anyway keep up tbe good videos. Greatings from Italy venice.
Pretty awesome Jason
This is genius! Thank you!
Another excellent video. Thank you for sharing. I’ve been looking at a few different fence options for my miter saw. This video made up my mind! Thanks for the links too for the parts needed to complete this!
Thanks for the video. The flipping stop is nice. To avoid referencing anything other than my miter saw fence, I embedded t track into the tables on the left and right. Now they also work as assembly tables with a whole grid of t tracks. Just another option in case it fits someone's need out there.
I'm thinking of doing exactly this. Do you have any regrets doing it like that? Stop blocks in the way, etc?
Super duper project .I was thinking why not use a 2m CLS wood instead of the Aluminium Frame?
Just thought about it.I am just a benniner.
Funny dude! And great information. Thank you!
Liked-Subscribed-Notified. Great video. Nice an easy shop add on.
I was going to ask about that cool fence 😃
I'm gonna need you to make a dedicated video to making the other side. Thank you.
Just face your screen towards a mirror and bam, done.
@@SteveVanceIsAwesome Genius
Nice job and yes it is nice to have but they are expensive for a beginner.
I also find sliding the stops enjoyable and making choo choo train 🚂 noises haha
You are too funny. Thank you for the great video
Such a cool video, so entertaining. Nice fence, so simple and useful. Mahalo for sharing! : )
Dude, you are so funny! Thanks for sharing
Great videos man! I've watched all of them.
How about making a exterior door for a house?
Wow good man, excellent !!!!!
Always entertaining!!! Oh, I learned a lot too!! 😁🇺🇸
Cool tip my friend 😎
You are SOOO silly 🙃!! I love it, and your videos!!
Use a 10 inch block, math's hard
Dave Satosky that sounds to close to metric for me!
exactly what I did...
Then you can’t do anything smaller than 5 inches.
Your videos make my day. They are so informative and there's always something that makes you laugh. For that I thank you. How would you insert a 12 inch planer to be level with worktable, same as you have miter saw?
Brilliant!
Nice Video. I did notice the link for tha aluminum appears to be for the 12” length, not the 4’ one.
More good stuff!
Need to make stops & measurements for miter cuts, since you show the whole thing moved out of position.
Maybe similar to that 12" block ? -- move T-track a Fixed Distance to let saw fence clear the tilted saw, then make mitered blocks for typical angles. -- Yes ?
Good video.
Love the tip about setting the fence back 3.2mm from the saw fence. Makes a lot of sense.
Cheers Mate.
P.S. I translated your American into English so the rest of the world 🌍 can understand 😁
I know this video is old, but I've been looking at those Woodpeckers flip stops and they have two mounting holes for an offset sub-fence or not. Yours is mounted in the wrong hole to make it lay flat against the fence, or you like it slanted. It's hard to tell, but I can tell you that I read the manual and that's why I know this.
Jason.. one of these days you are gonna stub your toe and bang into something and cause yourself some real pain! 🤣 You know what "they" say, " it's all fun and games until someone gets hurt, and then it is freaking hilarious!" Love your videos and love the easy fence!
I love this guy! \m/
I Dont have a miter yet but will still watch for future reference
same here.. LOL
you are much too serious sir! 😂 but very good idea and very simple instructions for a simple fence. simply usable, for any simpleton
Good stuff!
Thanks for sharing, what's in the cigar boxes?
I watched you drill the angle iron, but I didn't catch when you pre-drilled it. Watched it again, still didn't catch it. Must be my eyes...
Great video, thx
Love this video! I will be remaking my miter saw station after the first of the year. Not sure I understand the reasoning for moving the fence back 1/8". Also, Can you share the cost of this without me having to look at all the websites? Thanks! A PM will be good!
Yeah, I agree. I’m no expert, and I could be wrong but if one is referencing the nice long, new additional fence which is set back by 1/8” then the cut will be askew at the blade. If you’re pushing up against the miter saw’s built-in fence to begin with, that 1/8” gap on the additional fence is going to show; and at that point I’d think the additional fence would not be helpful. This is not a criticism. I just want to know the reasoning behind it, since I’m not getting it. Love your work.
He covered that in the video. Structural lumber you get from the lumberyard or have delivered isn't all perfectly straight. If your fence is flush with the saw fence if the bow starts after the saw's fence it will push against the longer fence and your cut will no longer be perfectly straight. The purpose of his fence is to allow you to set up a jig for rapid cuts all of the same length, and it does that in spades. I made the mistake of building my mitre saw station so that it butts up against my CNC Router table and using it and its perfectly machined square fence for this purpose. Made a bunch of cuts couldn't figure out why some of my cuts were perfectly square and some looked like they were cut at an ever so slight angle.
Thought my fence was out of square.. ran a dial indicator mounted on my spindle along the entire 8' machine bed... was out by a maximum of 0.001".... because I machined that fence to my spindle head... The issue I found was all my structural lumber I was using for my deck and garden boxes had bows in it from the yard one way or another and by going flush up against my perfectly square fence I was transfering that bow to my cuts.
LOL You're so silly... Love it.
I'm a little disappointed this wasn't harder. It's so simple that I'm now feeling inadequate for not thinking of it myself. Thanks for crushing my already fragile ego.
I ordered one of your mugs and it came in today......in pieces RIP hahaha
Send me an email I’ll get you another one
you could make a video on how to make magnetic gloves, it could help when trying to hold bolts and screws, during video production. Just a thought. Lol.
Tim- I actually have a product which is pretty much what you are talking about. It’s a wrist strap with magnets embedded inside it.....its amazing to hold screws, bits, and other metal attachments for drills and drivers. Just look up magnetic wrist strap on Amazon.
You can say we 👍
Another great video. Had a quick question about your logo. Who helped you design that?
Just I
Looks really nice but I’m not sure I want to do this - still on the fence 😀
I totally love these videos. They're informative, funny and interesting to watch. But if I have to hear the same intro song again I'm going to lose my mind. Nothin' but love!
I love the intro song lol. Actually looked it up to hear the whole thing
Weathered Goods haha no judgement! Maybe I should give the rest of it a song instead of 10 seconds.
Like the idea of this for sure... Dumb question... do you compensate for the kerf when you put the sticky measuring tape down or do you do that with the block?
Also. Any help on leveling the miter saw to the table top would be helpful to me. I got mine very close by using shims to raise or lower it, but is there a better way to do this?
Love your channel.
As always, great video! What height are your benches on the left and right side?
Would it make sense to move the left factory fence to the extended position (for 45° cuts) before adding the fence?
Dude your expressions crack me up!
Oh no. Did you have a fire in the LMTM (lawn mower tank mobile) and catch your beard on fire? Nice tip(s), I always find myself using the area behind the fence as cutoff "storage", so I just gave up on the extended fence.
hey Jason, thank you for sharing. Question, do you record the voice over and then record the video?
Is there an alternative to the woodpecker flip stop?
Amazon says no longer available
Go to woodpeck.com and order them directly from Woodpeckers
So when completed the fence will set back 1/8” correct??
Thanks for the video. What kind (gauge) of Nailer gun did you use for holding the trims?
Just a thought but wouldn't it be easier to cut t track at length from blade then install there rather than put a new tape measure over existing
Does the warden know you have a sharp axe in your workshop? Why are you using 4" (or whatever) ¼x20 bolts when a 1½" bolt w/should work fine? Another great video from the moth guy.
So is the fence recessed 1/8 of an inch behind the miter saw fence or is it flush? I thought I heard both. thanks!
