    I waited till tonight to watch this video because I was working this morning when I looked at my phone and saw the notification. I just finished making mine. The fence worked like a charm. It was much easier to cut and drill holes in the angle iron than I thought it would be. Thanks!

    the author does like to from scratch, shaping and trimming wood from large blocks into fine finished products. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxD-QRFQz730FJEh4f9BYSf-nkIMIC9hL_ as another reviewer mentioned, most projects require a lot of high-dollar equipment that most of us dont have the room or budget for. But, knowing how to do these things, even if we wont be able to practice the full stack project, is still great.

    This is giving me all kinds of ideas... I’m thinking threaded inserts for the angle iron with some room for adjustability and leaving the ability to temporarily remove the whole thing. Love the bolting method for t-track... the screws always suck in plywood, especially if in a dado groove. No need for epoxy wit bolts either

    • @juliepiper7058
      @juliepiper7058 3 роки тому

      Yes, love it! I was thinking even If I had The luxury of having a workbench, I would not want the track to be there. Great video though, you are a cuckoo but makes your video more fun to watch!

    I just adore this. I can't have it, but I adore it. I have one bench that I need for various jobs. Maybe with slotted t-tracks in the countertop so I can slide it forward and back, and a few small dowel holes for quick alignment... then I'll be able to mount multiple tools to the same spot as long as I can adjust their height. I already had to make big adjustable fences for my router and drill press. Maybe I can make it one fence, multiple tools. Not to mention having that one long and flat plane.

    When I build my work tables I always build them 1/2" short and screw a "sacrificial" 1/2" piece of plywood ontop to protect the actual table top. When it gets messed up simply remove it and put a new one on.

    Thanks for the video. The flipping stop is nice. To avoid referencing anything other than my miter saw fence, I embedded t track into the tables on the left and right. Now they also work as assembly tables with a whole grid of t tracks. Just another option in case it fits someone's need out there.

    Need to make stops & measurements for miter cuts, since you show the whole thing moved out of position.
    Maybe similar to that 12" block ? -- move T-track a Fixed Distance to let saw fence clear the tilted saw, then make mitered blocks for typical angles. -- Yes ?

    I know this video is old, but I've been looking at those Woodpeckers flip stops and they have two mounting holes for an offset sub-fence or not. Yours is mounted in the wrong hole to make it lay flat against the fence, or you like it slanted. It's hard to tell, but I can tell you that I read the manual and that's why I know this.

    • @apologetics
      @apologetics 3 роки тому

      Yeah, I agree. I’m no expert, and I could be wrong but if one is referencing the nice long, new additional fence which is set back by 1/8” then the cut will be askew at the blade. If you’re pushing up against the miter saw’s built-in fence to begin with, that 1/8” gap on the additional fence is going to show; and at that point I’d think the additional fence would not be helpful. This is not a criticism. I just want to know the reasoning behind it, since I’m not getting it. Love your work.

    • @BType13X2
      @BType13X2 3 роки тому +2

      He covered that in the video. Structural lumber you get from the lumberyard or have delivered isn't all perfectly straight. If your fence is flush with the saw fence if the bow starts after the saw's fence it will push against the longer fence and your cut will no longer be perfectly straight. The purpose of his fence is to allow you to set up a jig for rapid cuts all of the same length, and it does that in spades. I made the mistake of building my mitre saw station so that it butts up against my CNC Router table and using it and its perfectly machined square fence for this purpose. Made a bunch of cuts couldn't figure out why some of my cuts were perfectly square and some looked like they were cut at an ever so slight angle.
      Thought my fence was out of square.. ran a dial indicator mounted on my spindle along the entire 8' machine bed... was out by a maximum of 0.001".... because I machined that fence to my spindle head... The issue I found was all my structural lumber I was using for my deck and garden boxes had bows in it from the yard one way or another and by going flush up against my perfectly square fence I was transfering that bow to my cuts.

    Thanks for the video. What kind (gauge) of Nailer gun did you use for holding the trims?

    Just a thought but wouldn't it be easier to cut t track at length from blade then install there rather than put a new tape measure over existing

    Does the warden know you have a sharp axe in your workshop? Why are you using 4" (or whatever) ¼x20 bolts when a 1½" bolt w/should work fine? Another great video from the moth guy.

    So is the fence recessed 1/8 of an inch behind the miter saw fence or is it flush? I thought I heard both. thanks!
