Thanks for playing chords man -- a refreshing break from all the Gilmore-Hendrixing that goes on when demoing fuzz pedals
Haha, thanks so much!
I was about to say the same, me looking for a nice pedal for breakup with mathrock/surf rock style with my Jazzmaster ;)
@@dreamsun69 use one with my jazz all the time, sounds great
Gilmore and Hendrix didn’t know many chords. They struggled with chords
Fuzz sounds like shit!!!!!
Put the switch half way between 1 and 2. I call it one and a half. It gives a combination of both positions and is the best sounding fuzz I have ever used and I've used many.
It's such a good secret! I've actually got a video on that mode. ua-cam.com/video/L1d1OFT1f-4/v-deo.html
+1
Oh man!
NirvanaGuitars made a video mentioning it, too. Between his Fender Tonemaster Twin Reverb, Eastwood Hi Flyer, and this SF300 Pedal, he nailed some of the Pre-Nirvana tone on Kurt's 1985 Demo pretty well: ua-cam.com/video/EI_xtil3pW0/v-deo.html
I agree that it is the best fuzz pedal I've used and I have 6 others.
Just got the pedal, thanks for explaining what all the knobs do. I've been playing the riff to "Barbarian" for hours and twiddling the knobs. My neighbors love it so much they sent the cops over to hear how rad the pedal sounds!
by chance was either of the cops a musician?
Hahaha
Behringer pedals are fantastic for us bedroom players. I personally own about 20 of them and that's the only brand I own. They are all clones of great pedals so the tone to dollar ratio is incredible. I really really wish they would clone a studio compressor with full controls. I've had most of mine for nearly 7 years and they all work like new. I love them all.
This pedal is just -hilarious-, I love it especially when played with a 7-string SG for MAXIMUM DOOOOOOM!
I bet that would be crazy!!
😃🤯🤘🤘
Man, the way you explained the settings on the fuzz made more sense than any other reviewer I've seen. Really nice review.
Im so glad to hear that! Thank you so much for checking out the video!
I appreciate how you take time to explain about each little feature, and demonstrate each mode WITHOUT showing off too much. Interesting with the background info too.
(I wish someone would take this approach reviewing MXR's compression pedals: the dyna comp vs script version vs dyna comp deluxe vs super comp vs custom comp vs custom comp deluxe vs m76 studio compressor. The compression pedal videos are the WORST with people playing the most awful showoff wankery, instead of taking time to explain things. I just can't!)
Anyway, thanks for explaining the ins and outs of this so we know what to expect with the footswitch, and showing us how it sounds on different guitars, ie soapbars vs humbuckers.
As for which is my favorite Behringer pedal, the only one I have so far is the Digital Reverb DR600, which I got because it was cheap and had a bunch of modes (spring, plate, hall, gate, room, modulate) that I was curious about (particularly the plate reverb). My first impressions were that it's not going to replace my Fender combo amp's real spring reverb anytime soon, but I haven't played with it that much yet, so maybe there are some sweet spots that will come in handy. If I get serious about a reverb pedal it'll probably be a real spring reverb like the Danelectro Spring King, a Catalinbread Talisman for plate reverb, or a Boss FRV-1 but then we're getting into some serious money, which is where I'm hoping this little Behringer will help with giving me a basic idea of what the different types do and what type I might want to invest in later on. And serve the purpose for the types of reverb I'd use only occasionally.
The Behringer SF300 sounds as good as the "real deal" so I ordered one, can't wait to try it out. Thanks again and keep up the good work!
The SF300 ended up on my bands new album, sounded better than some boutique pedals we tried.
My favourite Behringer pedal is the UV300, it sound so damn good...only downside is that it introduces a lot of his to the signal chain. That's why it stays off my pedal board.
Right on!! Thanks for watching!!
What's the name of your man? I'll look it up
The SF300 seems pretty noisy too. Use a noise gate.
Their version of the tube screamer is actually very good
Totally agree! I’ve got a demo of that one too
Absolutely, I think it’s the best TS clone I’ve tested
Absolutely. I own another TS clone that even has the Keely mod and the Behringer blows it out of the water. Their EQ pedal is also quite functional.
I have a fully stocked Behringer PB600 pedalboard/case with the Compressor Sustainer, Super Fuzz, Ultra Octaver, Blues Overdrive (now OOP), Ultra Vibrato and Multi-FX pedals on board, and I also own a VP1 Vintage Phaser. Yes, the Super Fuzz is also my favorite from this selection. A super versatile fuzz and it's really useful to have the option to run a clean boost into the overdrive and/or with the compressor. I also really like the Ultra Vibrato (another OOP Boss pedal clone from what I hear) which does a simple job really, really well and the Ultra Octaver, which is weird and glitchy and thus fun. Really good down to earth review by the way. Keep up the good work, I'll be checking out your other videos.
Thanks so much for watching! Sounds like a killer board!
GREAT pedal. A faithful reproduction of the Boss HYPER Fuzz, which itself is a faithful reproduction of the classic and very collectable ($$$$) 70's Univox Super-Fuzz.
Thanks for watching!
I really love the vibrato pedal. I got one after I saw a side by side review between that and the original Boss VB-2. Surprisingly close in tone considering the price point, so close that Juan Alderete toured with them for outside festivals because it's cheaper to replace the Behringer 3 or 4 times than it was to have the VB-2 repaired.
The Vibrato is a really great pedal! I just put a demo of it up a few weeks ago! Thanks for watching! 🤘🤘
I have 2 of the SF300 pedals, 1 on my very small pedal board in my office, and the other on my bigger rig in the man cave - love the sound of these!
Great to hear!! Thanks for watching!
And, as I said before, you're an SG and Jazzmaster man, a player after my own heart.
I’ve been an SG player since the beginning! Jazzmasters have been a more recent development. Thanks so much for watching!
Great video Eric!!! First off I have to say that I have 5 Behringer pedals. I have the SF 300 Super Fuzz, the HD 300 Heavy Distortion, the VD 400 Vintage Delay, the VP 1 Vintage Phaser and the TU 300 Chromatic Tuner. All except the VP 1 are housed in plastic. Honestly all of them sound great, I really like the HD 300 Heavy Distortion. It’s very heavy as the name implies. Everyone rags about the plastic housings, but the thing you need to know is that it is thick heavy ABS plastic. You’re going to have to work to just break it. The VP 1 Vintage Phaser is in a pretty good sized metal enclosure. As I said earlier, they all sound pretty good. Thanks for the second look in this video!!!🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
That’s awesome you’ve got so many of the behringer pedals, Chris! You are right, the plastic is very sturdy, however the hinge mechanism they use on their footswitch sections leaves a lot to be desired to me. I can definitely feel the footswitch part flexing. But again, as long as you’re not stomping the heck out of it you should be fine! I bet you could do a tour with a board full of behringer pedals with one of those fancy loop switching units. Thanks for watching man! I’ve got some more pedals on order. Hopefully I don’t have to wait too long for them to arrive
Been using an EM-600 for close to 10 years - nothing broken yet! tap tempo on the pedal and all that; still on my board. yes it is plastic, but it's sturdy
Yeah💪🏼🔥🤘🏼 got the ultra vibrato, ultra chorus, digital dealy, heavy metal, super fuzz, VT911 and VD1, lov them all
Awesome vid dude. 💪🏼🔥🤘🏼
That’s a great collection! I’ve got a few on order that I’m excited to try out whenever they get here. Thanks so much for watching!
Yes! Love this pedal.
It’s so good!
I was about to buy a blues driver for 150... you saved my bacon. I ordered one of these for 29 AUD with a coupon all because of that boost function!
Huge thankyou
The Blues Driver (or Behringer equivalent) will NOT give you a good fuzz sound. It's more of a clean blues to "clean" hard rock higher gain overdrive, that's it. For something
like a Hendrix sound, or a modern Smashing Pumpkins buzzsaw type Muff Fuzz sound, this is the kind of pedal you need. Even for "shoegaze" you could use this pedal
and be happy with the variety of sounds you can get out of it.
I have the Boss FZ-1, Swollen Pickle, Big Muff, the EH Metal Muff, The TC Honey Pot, and SF300 and the Behringer is my favorite. It has the most sustain of any of them and the Boost knob makes it the best fuzz of all of them, IMO. If someone made a cool enclosure for them I'd do it although I wouldn't do it because I would fear it getting damaged. I just think it deserves a cool enclosure because it's the best of the bunch as far as I have seen. If it has any cons it would be that it's noisy but that can re remedied with a noise gate. That usually goes along with having huge sustain.
Super Fuzz is a beast! I have 5 Behringer pedals, they’re great to try out different sounds on the cheap. I love the Super Fuzz, the Heavy Metal is fun, and the Tube Screamer clone sounds great. Tremelo and Vintage Delay I probably use the most at the moment.
I’m super curious to try more of their pedals. I’ve got a handful on order right now. Thanks for watching!
Wow Eric this is such an awesome fuzz pedal I love it.😃👍
Thanks for watching!!
@@EricMerrow You’re very welcome. Much love.
Wow. That sounds awesome.
Thanks a ton!
My fave Behringer pedal is the Vibrato. It has a smoother waveform than the Boss (sine vs triangle?) and sounds less “wacky” even at higher settings. My fave vibrato pedal in general.
Right on!! I love the vibrato pedal too!
I’ve had a uv300 for a few years and just ordered an SF300. I have used said vibe pedal hundreds of times with no problem. It is hard durable plastic. It’s not like it’s plastic like a grocery store container for butter or something. Just don’t jump up and down on it. Don’t karate kick it or whatever people are doing. Its a boss style switch you just gently press on it. I have used it at many shows no problem. Super looking forward to the SF300 as I used to own a hyper fuzz and have kicked myself for selling it a while back. My other fuzz is an earthquaker hoof - awesome fuzz.
Thanks for watching!!
I’ve had 2 of the sf-300 over the years and also the bass synthesizer one. Looking to get the green harmonizer at some point to rip that royal blood sound
Nice! That setup would be sweet! Thanks for watching
Man, I theoretically understand the criticism on the plastic housing but really, you'd really have to be a beast to break them. I do not know how you lads turn you pedals on while playing, but I tend to use my foot carefully, metal, titanium or whatever casing that is. Been using three of them for over a decade now (no joke) - the TS clone one, the Reverb one and the analog delay -. So far, so good. I also have a Behringer compressor and this one had a problem in the on-off switch after two months I bought it. Easily fixed at home. I'm not saying these are heaven, I am saying they're no toys either.
I have the noise reducer, the heavy distortion, and the graphic EQ pedals (behringer). I just ordered the super fuzz but (obviously) haven't played it yet. All the behringers I have are absolute gems, I'm sure the fuzz will be no different.
The math and ears say YES! 👍 There will probably be a hole new generation of musicians who got their start with Behringer. Mine was a boss ds1 and a delta lab delay, (got both for less the a c note) and this is so much more affordable then even those.
The DS-1 is an incredibly solid first pedal! Thanks for watching!
As far as the construction of Behringer Pedals, I have the HB01 (HellBabe Wah). The HB01 is plastic, but I abuse that bad boy at every gig and it can withstand a hard stomp. And Fuzz Pedal are not meant for chords, but single note and sometimes and octave pedal. I also do own the SF 300 and the TO800 Vintage Tube Overdrive.
I have the Vintage Tube Overdrive TO800 and the Vintage Delay VD400. I haven't had any issues with the plastic housings, but I handle them with care. I am currently waiting on the Super Fuzz SF300, Vintage Phaser VP1, and Digital Reverb DR600 to make their way to my mailbox.
That’s awesome you’ve got a few in your collection and on the way! Thanks for watching!
@@EricMerrow Thank you for another awesome video!
There are thousands of different types of plastic. This is heavy-duty. I cracked one before ( not under regular use though) but it was easily solved with super glue and I never had any other issue after this. Every review I see points that the pedal might be fragile because of the case enclosure, that’s not the case.
I placed an order for the SF300 in February, currently on back order until June. Super excited to get my hands on it!
I hope you get it before June! Thanks for watching!
It looks like you're in the same spot as me. I found that Sweetwater has these pedals for $19 each. I ordered this one and a few others.......and they're all backordered. The suspense sucks.
Order mine like 2 months ago from sweetwater still no update
Just ordered one today they told me prolly won't be back in stock till august
@@noahangelle1919 It's definitely worth the wait! I got mine after a few month wait. Totally killer pedal.
I've owned a couple Behringers, but had to sell almost all my gear, including guitars. I wish I held onto the fuzz. I still have the Chorus which I love. It suits me and I didn't want to have to search one out again someday. I've had no concerns or problems with the Behringer casings. I think if someone is seriously concerned about that, then buy 2 at the same time. 2 cost less than one of any other pedal. Or take the route Eric suggested. I haven't found Behringers to be cheap, rather they are inexpensive. I bought into all the talk that they were worthless. What a mistake. Many non-level professional guitarists are missing out by not at least seeing if these suit their actual needs. I could go back and buy Strymons, but even in a performing band they offered more than I could use. Excellent video.
Thanks so much for watching and sharing!
I’d buy it I’m a huge fan of the Fz-2
The single coil into the fuzz reminded me of mbv! Nice playing!
Thanks for watching!!
You got some sweet sounds there 🤘🏾✨ I use my SF300 to rock some Black Sabbath / Electric Wizard tunes 🧙🏼♂️
Heck yeah!!!
Didn't know what a fuzz pedal was just now. Now I want one yesterday.
🤘🤘🤘
Im getting this on Wednesday along with the Big Muff and the Electro Harmonics Fuzz pedal. Gonna be a fun night playing some Electric Wizard
Heck yeah! 🤘🤘🤘
I have the heavy metal, the digital reverb (boss clone) and the super fuzz. I lucked out and found someone who had them in stock for $28. I think the sf300 is the most impressive. I might pick up the vibrato.
Nice!! I just put a few more on order. Thanks for watching!
I simple love the clean boost on it, ending up using it more than the fuzz I might just end up getting another one for fuzz only
I agree. But a love the VD400 (DM-3 clone) and the HD300 (MD-2 clone) is surprisingly cool if you scoop away a lot of the bass, I've not tried it on a bass guitar but it might an idea
I value Behringer pedals so highly because they're so cheap and give a lot of bang for the buck. I have had buyer's remorse from more expensive pedals and that's never the case with Behringer!
I have the Behringer Overdrive Distortion pedal and it's great. Thinking about maybe getting the Chorus by Behringer next.
The ultra chorus is awesome! I’ve got a video on it as well! 👍👍
Funnily enough, the thing that broke for me from stomping on a behringer too hard wasnt the plastic housing, but the spring inside. My octaver is now a little limp but still works.
Definitely makes sense. There are quite a few points that are more prone to failing in the behringer pedals
I've never played a Behringer pedal. Good stuff Eric!
Thanks for watching!
If you like Boss pedals, then you won't be disappointed. I like them.
Me who uses mine specifically for Mississippi Queen
My favorite is the Super Fuzz hands down. Honorable mentions for me are the Ultra Metal (metal zone clone) and their Chorus pedal. I don't have $ to throw around on pedals as much as I'd like, so some of these Behringers are worth it if you want fx on a budget.
Right on! I’ve got some more on order that I’m looking forward to checking out!
@@EricMerrow Don't SLEEP on the the UV 300 Vibrato. Next to this it's their best/sleeper pedal. Dead on - if not better - than the Boss VB2.
@@straygeraniums1 Stay tuned to the channel here! Got a video on the UV300 coming soon!
I have the UC200 (CHORUS) it's a nice sounding pedal, it's my first and only pedal
Wow. I’m impressed.

it's so damn fun for leccy wizard type stuff. i run it on setting 1.5, with a RAT 2 going into it... but sadly anything higher than the lowest two strings and anything with any speed at all just becomes pure mud. I want that heavy grinding sound but with a little more clarity 😩
I took a chance on this fuzz pedal and I have zero complaints.
Awesome!
They are only $15 shipped on Sweetwater right now. I picked one up. My favorite behringer so far is the Tremolo. Didn't think it would end up being as fun as it is
Where are you finding it at that price?
@@jonk3289 Sweetwater. Looks like the sale is over but check there and their stuff is on sale often. It was $14 ! 15 with some taxes
I bought 6 Behringer pedals... Overdrive, Chorus, Fuzz, Delay, Reverb and Tremolo for the price of One average priced big name pedal... An Inexpensive way for Newbies (like me) to discover their sound.

@@EricMerrow I'm Also Left Handed.
@@kevinmackfurniture heck yeah!!
My favorite Behringer pedal has to be the HM300. Boss HM2 chainsaw tones for days!
Heck yeah!! 🤘🤘🤘
Most guitar stores have them in stock the prices are different in some towns, states ,countries, etc. But still a great pedal to use if you are really into doom metal or if you just wanna jam on some nasty riffs from other genres.
The only real problem is the switch. It simply not an issue if you have a pedal switcher all your pedals are looped into.
We all know it has the rep of giving you extreme dirt right up to borderline too much to be usable. What surprised me is if you can pull it back to do Dave Gilmour near OD sounds.
Besides the TO800 yes!
Behringer's plastic last tens of years in my experience. Go hard at it, my brothers and sisters in DOOM, go hard at it...
I'm gonna get one of these for my ukulele
I'm not kidding
Yes!!!! I be that'll sound amazing!
Just got one for my mandolin.
@@josephpetrino1741 omg I play my ukulele in mandolin tuning I can't wait I hope I get the money before they sell out It'll be my first pedal ever
You can do a new video on this pedal every day and I'll watch it. I can't get that sound out of my head. Sweetwater told me that mine should be here in May......but I'm thinking about ordering a second one to have just in case.
Random thought: Since there is mode 1.5, is there a mode 2.5? Scooped fuzz with a clean boost added? I would love to try that on my bass.
Thanks for watching!! So there is a 2.5 mode but it didn’t sound as useable to my ears. In fact, it didn’t sound like it worked when I was filming so I actually cut it out of the video. I tried it again after I had a couple questions and I found it did work but it doesn’t sound as balanced to me. But it does work!
I bought one solely bc I enjoy this particular fuzz tone so much 4:59
You’re gonna love the pedal!! 🤘🤘🤘
SF 300 and Vintage delay. Worth the bucks
The delay is so good!
I heard something that these are the same circuitry as the boss pedals. Thinking of getting one.
Definitely try one! They’re like $20 so it’s a pretty low risk move! 👍👍
Nice video! Have you tried out the pedal with a bass? I’m curious, how does fuzz mode 1 sound with a bass?
I don’t think I have tried it with bass. Might have to do another video!! Thanks for watching!
I've seen videos out there -- not all players get it right, but it's a good usable pedal for bass.
Lots of comments about the supposed fragility of the plastic housing. I have a couple and they seem tough enough. Has anyone actually broken one?
I think it’s pretty much like every pedal - if you’re hard on them, they can break. If you’re not hard on them then they’ll last a long while
The Tube Screamer clone is one of my favorite. Would love some tips on how to get an Iommi sound from this pedal.
Thanks for watching! Are you looking to get the Iommi sound out of the SF300 or the Tube screamer clone?
@@EricMerrow The SF300. But maybe it would work by stacking it?
@@chromosomegun5845 I’m not sure you’ll be able to approximate an Iommi tone with the super fuzz. Iommi used a treble boost into a stack. What amp are you using? You might be able to use the tube screamer and the boost mode on the super fuzz to boost your amp.
@@chromosomegun5845 SG with P90s, a treble booster, and a Laney Supergroup head. Those are the building blocks of the Iommi sound.
How come you dont dial your gain in low settings? Its just a full buzz sounding
You can check out my full demo of the pedal - I have multiple low gain settings in that video
Got one of these today. There is an overall volume drop when I switch from Fuzz 1 to Fuzz 2 mode. Does yours react the same? Curious if there’s an issue with the one I received.
So it may be an issue but you also have to kinda take into account that mode 2 is cutting out a lot of mid frequencies so it will inherently be a bit quieter with less of those frequencies. However, if it’s a significant volume drop that you can’t really compensate with the volume control, then you might have an issue
I'm brand new to the pedal world . I play bass and only have two pedals the exh battallion and the behringer cl9 compressor both pedals are always on so I don't mind the plastic housing. A lot of people have recommending the sf 300 so I'm curious

did I miss the part about the secret mode between fuzz 1 and 2?
Nope, that’s a different video here on the channel!
Hi Eric sorry to ask after a year lol but I wanted to ask if the unit should light up just when batteries are in or does it only light when plugged in and being used. Sorry again and if this is the most stupid question ever do forgive just trying to know if I've got a faulty one or not
I believe the pedal will light up if it’s got power and there are cables plugged into the in and out.
@@EricMerrow thank you
That riff at 5:00 is sweet \m/

This pedal is good for a new born-muse cover?
I bet you could totally make it work for that song!
The boss hyper fuzz is also a copy of the Univox super fuzz
Very true!
Love the Fuzz but favorite has to be the EQ700 another clone ;)
I bet that’s a super useful pedal!
The Beringer super fuzz is a clone of the boss hyper fuzz which was a clone itself of the Univox super fuzz. 👌
Very true! Thanks for watching!
Is this supposed to emulate the old Univox Super Fuzz?
Yeah it’s kinda like a super fuzz, it’s more akin to the Hyper Fuzz from boss.
I could see this coming in handy in certain applications, but I’m a synth guy. What would you think about using it on a synth?
To specify, we’re talking about recording, not live performance.
I bet the sf300 would sound pretty sweet on a synth! Maybe even if you did a split and blended it in parallel with the dry signal 🤘🤘
@@EricMerrow - Thanks! I’m gonna grab this while it’s on sale!
Eric Merrow, in the Booster MODE when rolling down the Stratocaster volume to 8 or 7 will it sound very glassy cleans like SRV texas cleans tones? can you make a video doing this
Hi Wayne, the boost mode in the super fuzz is a pretty full frequency boost so you’ll be taking your strat and pushing your amp into saturation. You can get some nice dynamics by rolling the volume down.
@@EricMerrow I thought the Boost mode was like a treble boost range master like what brian may used rangemaster
@@waynegram8907 the boost definitely is not a rangemaster type treble boost. I can’t remember, but I seem to think that the EQ controls might not even be active in the boost mode. You might like the tube screamer circuit if you’re looking for an SRV style boost
@@EricMerrow ok thanks because fuzz 1 and fuzz 2 are from the Univox Super Fuzz pedal
Yes it's plastic but it's cheap, to be honest so far i haven't read any thread or seen any video talking about smashed pedals ! So they could live up to small gigs if not jumped on like crazy !
They're still pretty durable. Unless you truly beat the living shit out of it, it should last a good while.
Not into the uncontrolled noise. Full chords just sludge out without any definition, (any 2 string power chords start to make it more usable, providing some note separation and clarity, (and with the overtones provided by the pedal, sound full without total mud.)
Also, playing in a parallel loop ( I use the ehx tri-parallel mixer) with other ODs, Distortions, (or any fx pedal, for that matter) seems to work really well
(for more "musical"(?)tones)

I have the SF300, the HM300, and the DR600. My favorite is easily the SF300. The DR600 is very useful for me since neither of my amps have native reverb.
The HM300 is great, but I recently bought a Boss HM-2 and I find it to be the superior pedal, especially since I don't care about the whole "Swedish Chainsaw" thing. Unless fate drops a fat load of cash into my lap, I'll probably never own a Boss FZ-2.

Yeah they made it hard to get there for a bit
My favorite is Vibrato one
Right on!!
can be used in grunge?
I’m sure it could be! It could definitely add a gnarly sound to a grunge song
Is it normal to sound really choppy if i’m shredding with this pedal?
This can be a pretty glitchy type of fuzz effect - especially if you’re playing 2 notes where one is bending and the other is static (double stop)
@@EricMerrow Also if I play almost any other chord than a powerchord it sounds completely messed up and not audible. Is there a fix for this?

The Ibanez FZ7 Tonelok sounds similar to this 🧐
I haven’t been able to try any of those Tonelok series yet. I gotta keep my eyes out for those!

5:55 meh show me an example. I've had a Behringer Vintage Delay for 14 years and the thing as as rock solid as Nokia brick phone. It's just cheap feeling, but pretty durable. Definitely not worth re-housing, unless you're one of those pedal board hobbyist dudes
I never recommend rehousing these Behringer pedals. I think if someone really wanted to upgrade it, they could just make a single loop switcher and use that as the on/off footswitch
