Dude, you REALLY need to try the 'secret' mode! Put the switch in between Fuzz 1-2 and you get both tones at once. To me that is where the pedal really shines.
OHHH MY HOLY F.U.C.. COW THATS THE BEST SECRET IN THE WORLD, I BOUGHT ONE SUPERFUZZ 2 DAYS AGO .. I´M TRYING THAT OUT ON DROP C AND IS THE HEAVIEST OF THE HEAVIEST SHI... IN THE UNIVERSE
For about a year after I got one it was relegated to just a boost because I could never get anything decent out of fuzz 1 or fuzz 2. Then one day I discovered the mysterious Fuzz 1.5 setting.
Even though I own one, I'm never not shocked by how evil and mean that bastard sounds. The designer of the Hyper Fuzz was a complete maniac. Had to have been.
@@asherplatts6253 I've heard that, and my ears can kinda hear that lineage, too. Had zero idea about the color choice, though. That's neat. In any case, wherever it shows up (like the little Dano French Toast), it's a brutal sounding circuit.
The FZ-2 is similar but not a clone of the original superfuzz. The modes use op amps for the filtering as well as an active eq. Similar but not at all clone if you check out the schematics cheers everyone!
You know what you're doing with recording these types of things man. I see other channels compare these style fuzzes to others (especially some of the SF300 videos) and it always sounds like a tin can. I heard this and went "Finally that's actually what it sounds like coming out of the amp."
Just got myself one of these, along with an HM300, on Sweetwater for like 46 bucks! Can't wait to use them with my band. We're going into the studio soon, and I'm sure they'll both get a decent amount of use.
That is some thick, heavy sludge... and some good bite. Seems like a pretty versatile and useful pedal. Seems like Behringer has really stepped up its game these last few years. Thanks for the demo!
It's just a copy of the Boss FZ2 in a super cheap plastic housing, the worst switch you can imagine and with a metal plate on the bottom to give it some weight. The pedal sounds really good but Behringer builds the chepest and wonkiest pedals out there, I'd rather thank Boss for building the original. The Boss FZ2 in the Fuzz 1 setting is also just a copy of an Univox Super Fuzz.
@@rk28984 - ah... I didn't realize the Behringer component game was still the same. They probably wouldn't hold up to the abuse and wear and tear like Boss pedals do. Back in the early 00s, we called them "Behginner" ... Just trying to be supportive of Jason and his channel. I'd rather buy Fuzzlord
The Boss setting one is not the same as a Univox Superfuzz, it still has active filtering. Thanks for watching and check out/compare the schematics to check that out.
@@scottkidwellmusic9175 I have an RV600 from them since about 5 years. In these years it was on my board all the time. Made a lot of gigs, 2 tours, countless rehearsals and an album recording with it. I hade 0 (zero) problems with the pedal, still working as good as on day 1. I see all these circlejerk comments all around the net, that "cheap plastic, that will break from anything", but I yet to see that someone actually showing a broken one. Getting the impression that those who are saying these things, just jumping on the bandwagon without even owning or trying one.
I added a secondary board inside, housing a gyrator at 1200Hz which was used to replace the cap and resistor in the treble control to turn it in to a HM-2 like mid control
I'm a beginner-intermediate "hobby guitarist", got this pedal and plugged it between guitar and an audio interface, sounds pretty great! The only problem so far is that the fuzz doesn't clean up that much with the guitar volume knob, probably because I'm using an interface and an amp sim+cab sim plugins instead of an actual tube/solid-state amp.
Jason, respect for wearing Beholden to the Riff t-shirt, giving that channel some exposure. Not many Doom/Stoner/Sludge oriented Bass channels out there. 🤘 PS: after your demo I feel redundant saying that my favourite bands using Hyper Fuzz/Super Fuzz are Monolord and Electric Wizard. 😅
I used one all throughout the existence of the Chrome Cranks ('92-'98). A Dan Armstong Plexi... thru a Hyper-Fuzz 2 into a Fender Quad Reverb. Paint peeler...
Bought one of these 2 weeks ago just to play some Electric Wizard Riffs! 🤘 Jason you are a gem Fuzzlord rules. Cheers! Also Awesome Beholden to the riff shirt!
Bought this a while back thinking it would be a good temporary fuzz before I delved into other ones.. now I have other pedals and this still has a spot on my board. Just too good and versatile.
The mode 1 is amazing. It reminds me a lot of the death metal chainsaw tone (which I'm an avid user of) and the boost tone is pretty great tone... I think I found a fuzz pedal I actually want.
Great demo Jason!!! I’ve had the SF 300 for a year or so now, wouldn’t trade it for anything else. To me it doesn’t sound exactly like anything else and I’ve seen more than a few shootouts with the Boss FZ 2. It’s very close to the FZ 2, but still has its own sound, again, that’s to my ear. Keep up the great work!!!🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
At the price point, it’s a champion! The secret mode is my favorite setting. You really bring out how truly nasty this pedal can get. Great demo, Jason! Cheers!
For my band’s (Fostermother) upcoming album, we tracked a number of guitars with the Super Fuzz. A couple of tunes we even used it as a boost into an old big box Rat for some absolutely nasty tones. Insane little pedal for not a lot of cash!
Great demo. I personally don't have one but this demo sold me on it. Yes EW and Monolord use this type of pedal. But I believe With The Dead uses one as well.
@jason Love the demo, interesting that you have the level turned up, I'm a fan of high gain and high level but i've noticed a lot of people turn the level down as the gain gets higher. And I love that guitar, I have a Strat in the same colour except with the maple fretboard
Got this one a while ago for my telecaster to do my usual Garage punk grunge fuckery. Also V Fun with a low gain tube screamer. im not what id call remotely near a level of competence sound wise all i can say is it sounded good to me and i had fun always a good start especially with cheap pedals.
For anyone considering the pedal, make sure you get a perfectly matched power supply. Some of the hiss and tinny sounds comes from mismatched power--it is very sensitive to low battery power and power jacks that are too strong. So get the manufacturer jack.
Boss FZ-2> used allover Deadsy, Orgy and Banishment. The SF300 sounds nothing like the FZ-2, but after a few modifications, the SF300 will be another useful shade of FUZZ.@@
This thing sounds awesome, but it totally kills my wah wether its before or after... Also the secret modes are awesome but kinda get over trying to find them
I have this pedal, great tone, and probably an unpopular opinion but I actually think it looks cool too. Unfortunately after a few months of minimal use is started to develop a hiss, it still works but the hiss is there when you don’t play anything.
I have 3 original FZ-2s and one sf300 for comparison. The sf300 might be just a hair more "musical"/smooth but very hard to tell... I prefer the original, I use it on bass to cause all kinds of havoc...!😁😇
I own this pedal. It is awsome and very versatile. It like 4 in 1 with the secret mode mentioned in the comments. I would like to see a demo of the Joyo voodoo octave. I think you will enjoy it.
In my opinion this pedal has a single manufacturing flaw and it is due to the fact that it is not built in metal, besides that I doubt you can find something so versatile and fuzzy satisfying at that price.
That plastic is tougher than you think. If youre steppin on it hard enough to break it youll probably break a switch too. Had a friend like that. Stomped on shit like he was killing a rat.
You can clean it up with an EQ or the tone section of another distortion pedal being used as a clean boost, like a muff with the "sustain" turned all the way down.
So either in my town all the stores are selling broken fuzz pedals because none of them do this not even a Boss does this why is that ?? All of them dont sound clean they all sound broken. As well as everyone says i need to plug pedal in back of amp yet it sounds even more shitty pluged in amp on Marshalls pevys oranges i think my town is selling pure broken gear lmao

The FZ-2 is a clone of the Univox Super Fuzz, and the Behringer SF300 case color is a nod to the color of the OG pedal
