Aluminum enclosures aren't expensive. Take the guts out of the Berhinger and place it in a Hammond box . And great weekend project! By the way, I have 2 Berhinger that I paid 29$ Canadian. Huge sound at mini price and no AM radio...😊
Just started playing bass and this is gonna be my first pedal. Didn't even check it out, my housemate just told me that there's a fuzz to pick up around the corner for 12€ and I just neeeeded a fuzz. Picking it up tomorrow. Now I'm watching this and other rewiews and damn I'm impressed, I love me sum dopethrone sound
the boss sounds a little extra wild in the super heavy sound, but with that being said i think the behringer pedal is just as good in the way it sounds more compressed, both pedals have the same tone however so i would look at the behringer as more of a quick buy live performance pedal where as the boss is probably more of an artifact pedal that would be better for recording purposes.
I wasn't completely paying attention with your demo. When I saw you click the pedals, I said to myself "I don't hear a difference in the sound" then realized that was the purpose of the vid. Duh! 😁
I bought my SF300 Super Fuzz a few months ago and it is now has permanent spot on my pedalboard. I use it to color and drive the preamp distortion on my amp. It can Doom for sure.
8 years ago I got lucky and bought an FZ-2 on ebay for only 60$ with only a scratch here and there. it's still one of my most prized pedals. the tone sounds great especially on a bass guitar. out of all the fuzz pedals I've tried, the FZ-2 has such an angry growl that makes any riff sound Bone Crushing. I'm too worried about playing with it live through because I'm paranoid about losing it, so getting a Behringer does sound like a nice alternative.
Just as a follow up - pedal came - it's truly badass. It's got a plastic cover, but it has some serious weight to it - it's stable and it ain't going nowhere. I suppose if you don't smash it with your foot, it'll last a good while. For the money, it's actually built quite well. I'm running it through an Oragne Crush 20RT and yeah, it sounds heavy. I tried running a slight chorus after the fuzz and it makes a really nice wall of sound type of tone. I like it a lot, for 25 bucks there's just absolutely no reason not to get this pedal.
Behringer never fail to surprise me... My friend has a Blues Drive clone by them and it sounds so phat in front of my Fulltone octave fuzz. I normally use my SD1 instead for that mids boost, so having both is kinda like options 1 and 2 on the FZ-2. Their budget synths are mad too
I have the plastic one. i've wanted the original boss for a while now. after watching your video i think i'll save the coin and be happy with the SF300. thank you!
Great video! I was looking for a cheap fuzz pedal to keep it on low sustain, just to add a bit of dirt to my sound when I'm not using my Big Muff. I think that you just solved my dilemma. Thank you for this, and all the other videos!
Both incredibly similar. Main difference I hear between the two is that Fuzz 1 and Gain Boost sound a bit dirtier on the Behringer, but Fuzz 2 (being as saturated as it is) at that level is completely indistinguishable between the two. That mode alone is worth WAY more than the $25 it costs, so it’s a great way to get into this tone if you don’t want to be irresponsible like me and have a ton of expensive FZ-2 clones in a drawer somewhere 😅
Wow the difference is sooooo small if it's even there at all. I think the beringer is a tiny bit brighter with less low end but honestly I might be psyching myself out. It's very close
The FZ-2 has gotten so expensive now, I wish I had but more than one back when they were cheap! Might have to pick up a Behringer as a spare, I tend to mainly use the boost mode because it sounds great and the buffer in the FZ-2 is the nicest sounding I've hear in any BOSS pedal.
@@DoesItDoom I played with a kind of clean modern dream pop shoegaze band (influenced by alot of the French shoegaze guys) for a little while and the boost was perfect for clean lead lines (used a triangle muff clone for the dirty stuff).
I just bumped into this dude who had a SF300 laying around. He said, "I don't like the way the treble sounds". LOL! I told him that it was basically a recreation of a much more expensive BOSS pedal. Then I told him that you can get one new for 30 bucks. He was kinda bummed, so I offered him $5 bux for it. He told me to take it away and add it to the Gretsch Bo Diddley ELECTROMATIC that I scored from him a couple years ago for $60 bux! I brought it home, plugged it in to a Fender Super Champ X2 with a Morley Bad Horsie Wah and a BBE Sonic Maximizer and hooked up my Agile AL3200 that I paid $250 for and on the clean channel it sounds pretty good. After watching your comparison, I tweaked the settings and BLAMMO! Pure SONIC BLISS! Thanks a milli my man! Recently purchased the behringer after this video, awesome little fucker that pedal, the plastic was worrying at first but if you're not gigging with it and just have it on a desk, you'll be fine
I’d pay 40-50 bucks for an sf300 in a metal box. But I’ve had the plastic sf300 for a couple years and it still in good condition. Even dropped it a couple times off the top an amp onto tile. I guess mines lucky.
Hi! I just wanted to say thank you, I bought a sf-300 after watching the review and I just love it, not only as a doom pedal but also as a boost for punk rock solos. I also considered buying a big muff but couldn't really find a good wizard tone with it. Long story short, thanks for saving me 50€! Cheers from Italy!:)
Does It Doom? I mean well yeah. I’m pretty stoked on it, but that clone is just as good! I’m all about getting knock-offs to save a dime! Btw, love your channel, bro. I’ve been watching your videos and LOVING them! Stay Doomy!!!
to my ears, the sf300 has a little lack of basses compared to the boss, but it sounds killer anyway and very similar! The biggest problem of behringer pedals is the cheap plastic used for the enclosures.
Stefano dimorte the enclosure is certainly far from ideal. But it’s a great option for guys who want to mess with the FZ-2 thing without breaking the bank. I think any difference in tone between the two could be made up with EQ.
Thank you for this review. For some reason my boss only works on battery, even when plugging an external battery. Needed a replacement quickly for a gig amd purchased the Behringer on the strength of this review. Thanks so much. Peace from Perth Western Australia.
Do you think there’s a lot of snooty snobbery amongst musicians ? Behringer pedals are great and they do the job depending on your budget, yet there are guitarists out there that look down on such pedals, does it matter what gear you use as long as your happy with the sound ? Great video as always 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽
Doom Magus the more gear I came to own, the more I realized the less it really matters. As long as you get a few pieces that put you in the right ballpark, you’re good to go. I still love collecting gear, but I think there is often more tone to be had in improving technique than there is in a new amp.
But in a live setting...no one is gonna notice. Shit, id be too stoned to care. So I’m definitely wanting to use to Behringer live. If it breaks it won’t break my heart too much
Get a cheap aluminium housing, some good quality pots and a switch and you'll have the Behringer forever - for less than half what the FZ-2 is going for.
That’s what I was thinking. IF there are any nuances they are destroyed by every other member of the band! And honestly, only in a dudes head is having the original pedal gonna get you laid
I was given the behringer for Xmas and it's awesome. My neighours think so too they were pounding on the wall in appreciation. I've been digging using the booost mode to goose a rams head.

Thank you, I've wondered about this pedal for some time now. I think you may have cleared up any concerns that I previously had.
Willbilly81 great, man! Hard to go wrong for $25. As you can hear, the tone is really close.
@@DoesItDoom The greatest thing about this pedal is that you can rehouse it. I think there's tutorials online.
Willbilly81 yeah, I hear lots of talk about rehousing them.
I wasn't completely paying attention with your demo. When I saw you click the pedals, I said to myself "I don't hear a difference in the sound" then realized that was the purpose of the vid. Duh! 😁
eyes of goat 😀😀that’s awesome!
Just got mine because of this demo.
Thanks for helping an old-man out, brother. I plugged it into my plexi and it’s filthy.
Awesome!
I love my behringer pedal and is actually really sturdy and sounds kick ass.
kristian mcfarren I love it as well!
Me three. The Behringer sounds awesome on both guitar and bass. As soon as I got it, it kicked about $300 worth of fuzz pedals off my board.
Josh Feierman nice!
I'm too worried about playing with it live through because I'm paranoid about losing it,
so getting a Behringer does sound like a nice alternative.
doommetal101 nice!
Damn, thanks for that comparison, man - it's all I needed. Got the Behringer coming in the mail these days.
I have one of these Behringer pedals. I use it exclusively for downtuned stoner doom stuff (drop C to drop A) and oh my god, does that thing rip!
Difylo it has the tone, no doubt!
I said I'll never buy Behringer pedals but after hear this I want that Super Fuzz
Nice as always man! 🤘
I’d say you’d be hard to find a better sounding pedal at that price. Does the FZ-2 thing about as close as you can get.
Behringer never fail to surprise me... My friend has a Blues Drive clone by them and it sounds so phat in front of my Fulltone octave fuzz. I normally use my SD1 instead for that mids boost, so having both is kinda like options 1 and 2 on the FZ-2. Their budget synths are mad too
I have the plastic one.
i've wanted the original boss for a while now.
after watching your video i think i'll save the coin and be happy with the SF300. thank you!
They definitely sound the same to me.
I use Malekko Omicron Fuzz. Annoing thing about it is switcher that they put inside the box
Great video! I was looking for a cheap fuzz pedal to keep it on low sustain, just to add a bit of dirt to my sound when I'm not using my Big Muff. I think that you just solved my dilemma. Thank you for this, and all the other videos!
Ivan Janjić my pleasure man. I think tone-wise it’s a hell of a buy at $25!
@@DoesItDoom Agreed. For that price, almost a steal.
Hard to say which sounds better.
The collectible quality vs. practical applicability vs. price value...
Very interesting intersection.
🤘🏻🐌☠️🐐🔊
Larry McDowell totally agree man. Even though I hear no appreciable difference, I just enjoy having the Hyperfuzz from a collectible standpoint.
This is the ultimate way of a pedal review. Absolutly good job
Just bought the Berhinger SF300 for recording after watching this. I'm now really looking forward to using it.
You’ll love it.
I miss my Hyper Fuzz but I just ordered my Behringer. Thanks for the recommendation.
GCF sure thing. I think you’ll be happy with the purchase!
I just loved this comparison vid.
Wow the difference is sooooo small if it's even there at all. I think the beringer is a tiny bit brighter with less low end but honestly I might be psyching myself out. It's very close
It’s as close as it needs to be. Any difference isn’t better or worse and could be dialed out with amp eq.
Dopethrone for life ! Thanks for the video now I can setup my super fuzz properly
I agree, the boost mode is absolutely great on that thing!
@@DoesItDoom I played with a kind of clean modern dream pop shoegaze band (influenced by alot of the French shoegaze guys) for a little while and the boost was perfect for clean lead lines (used a triangle muff clone for the dirty stuff).
JimijaymesGuitarist cool!
I picked up the Behringer as a result of this video. Great pedal!
I was hoping this was a reference to the band Dope Throne from Hochelega, awesome comparison anyways.
They kick much ass.
Great vid/Great channel from a first time viewer(and subscriber) from the hair farming region of Western Washington state, USA!!!
Thanks for watching. I appreciate the sub! Such a rad pedal!!!
Can't go wrong with that Beringer, would be great if they did some more reasonably priced pedals with metal housings!
Absolutely.
I just bought the Behringer Super Fuzz. Plastic is fine since it won't be leaving the house. Good demo. Cheers.
Why isn't this the way everyone does shootouts?! Such an effective comparison with all the variables in playing removed. I'm surprised this pedal is as good as it is. Need to try more from them.
Blaise Canfield thanks, man! I have a lot of career experience in testing / experimentation, and controlling variables is of the utmost importance to me in making a demo such as this. I appreciate you taking notice!! Thanks for checking out the content. 🤘🏻🐐🤘🏻
Recently purchased the behringer after this video, awesome little fucker that pedal, the plastic was worrying at first but if you're not gigging with it and just have it on a desk, you'll be fine
Yep.
where do you get your hats man?
Just something I buy / collect here and there. Some, such as the one in this video, I’ve had made.
I just got a SF300 today and I love it.
Great pedal!
I’d pay 40-50 bucks for an sf300 in a metal box.
But I’ve had the plastic sf300 for a couple years and it still in good condition. Even dropped it a couple times off the top an amp onto tile. I guess mines lucky.
FoxHound SF nah. I’d wager Internet lore has turned the fear of breaking them into a bigger issue than it truly is. Just my opinion.
Nelson Ciappa very welcome brother! Unbeatable tone for the price.
Damn it! I just spent $200.00 on a FZ-2 and THEN found this video when looking to verify what Steve confirmed about Mode II. Damn it!
But you still got an FZ-2 out of the deal!! 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Does It Doom? I mean well yeah. I’m pretty stoked on it, but that clone is just as good! I’m all about getting knock-offs to save a dime! Btw, love your channel, bro. I’ve been watching your videos and LOVING them! Stay Doomy!!!
That clone is definitely about as close as it gets in terms of tone. Thanks for checking out the channel man-I’m glad you dig it!!
you can always resell it for the same value you bought it
I saw the name of the channel and subscribed immediately
Thanks Ted!
to my ears, the sf300 has a little lack of basses compared to the boss, but it sounds killer anyway and very similar!
@@DoesItDoomsure! behringer made great pedals for the price, nothing wrong about that!
Stefano dimorte 🤘🏻🤘🏻
@@DoesItDoom It would be interesting to see TC Electronic do an update of the sf300 given that their cheap line is all rehoused Behringers.
Nathan Howard I agree. People would be all over it at a $40-50 price point
awesome thanks for making this! subbed and ordering the behringer!
John Doe awesome! Thanks for the sub. You will love the pedal.
You forgot to turn on both pedals at the same time in the BOOST mode.
I need to remember to do that sort of stuff.
It sounds like crap. Too much noise and feedback.
Thank you for this review. For some reason my boss only works on battery, even when plugging an external battery. Needed a replacement quickly for a gig amd purchased the Behringer on the strength of this review. Thanks so much. Peace from Perth Western Australia.
They sound exactly the same
I agree. Close enough.
@@DoesItDoom a little more treble on the behringer but its not better or worse, for the price dif id go beheringer!
@@93gmc666 pretty much my take. Maybe slightly different, but hard to say one is better.
War Zone for sure. Having an FZ-2 is cool, but if you don’t want to spend the cash the SF300 will get you in the same ballpark on tone.
Dude. The Hyperfuzz is really great. would not have thought that this is soo goood
Fairly unique and very cool fuzz!
Fuzz 2 made me violently expel black tar from my ears 🤘
It will do that!
Unbelievable comparison, well done fella 👏🏼
If rehousing was simple this would be camouflaged on loads of pedalboards
Thanks David. I wouldn’t even worry about rehousing it.
I look down on all pedals!
thank you so much for listing everything in the video.
"Takes Behringer Pedal and put contents into metal octagonbox" the Danfuerth DD Fuzz. 😂 Don't open it up lol.
Can't tell the difference, brilliant video mate.
Thanks brother.
But in a live setting...no one is gonna notice. Shit, id be too stoned to care. So I’m definitely wanting to use to Behringer live. If it breaks it won’t break my heart too much
Totally agree. No one going to come even close to the realm of noticing.
Get a cheap aluminium housing, some good quality pots and a switch and you'll have the Behringer forever - for less than half what the FZ-2 is going for.
That’s what I was thinking. IF there are any nuances they are destroyed by every other member of the band! And honestly, only in a dudes head is having the original pedal gonna get you laid
drbooks agree man.
I always come back to watching this video because it's so good
What about it do you like so much?
@@DoesItDoom It's very satisfying to watch and the tone comparison is fantastic
honestly think i prefer the sound of the behringer haha. and for 1/10 the price, that's pretty hard to beat, even with the cheaper enclosure.
Patrick Haynes yeah man. Really can’t go wrong.
This is a honest comparison. Thanks for the video!
I tried my best to make it unbiased. I think they sound nearly identical.
Oh yeah yeah it does
It does!
oh yeah yeah
I was given the behringer for Xmas and it's awesome. My neighours think so too they were pounding on the wall in appreciation.
I've been digging using the booost mode to goose a rams head.
Hahah. Yes, it’s a great boost as well. Just a killer pedal all around.
