This is a tribute to Led Zeppelin, who are the older guys they keep showing on the balcony. The guy who tears up is Robert Plant, who originally sang this song with the rest of the group about 40 years before. The guys in the balcony are Robert Plant, lead singer; Jimmy Page, guitarist; and John Paul Jones, the bassist of Led Zeppelin. The drummer, John Bonham is not there because he passed away in 1980, and the band broke up then. The drummer for this tribute is John Bonham's son, Jason Bonham. The tribute is hosted by President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama because he was president then.
Ann Wilson has one of the most powerful female voices. And her sister Nancy can play a mean guitar. This is one of the best tributes to Led Zeppelin with Ann & Nancy doing the classic song "Stairway To Heaven". No one else could have pulled it off as well. "Heart" have had so many great hits such as "Magic Man", "Crazy On You", "Barracuda", "What About Love", "Never", "Dog & Butterfly", "These Dreams", "Alone" etc.
And to think Ann did this at age 62 and had the flu. The band Heart was honored the following year as they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
You've made me so happy by watching you watching this & seeing your reaction. Ann Wilson killed this, absolutely killed it & nobody will EVER be able to top her performance.
This was Led Zeppelin being honored at the Kennedy Center Honors in 2012. The Kennedy Center Honors pays tribute each year to several people from Arts, Music, and Entertainment. Heart did this Led Zeppelin tribute of one of their greatest songs "Stairway to Heaven". Also paying tribute to Zeppelin were Jack Black, the Foo Fighters, Lenny Kravitz, and Kid Rock....none of whom appeared in this particular video. Heart featured Ann Wilson (lead vocalist) and her sister Nancy Wilson (acoustic guitar). Led Zeppelin members being honored (in the balcony) were John Paul Jones (bass, keyboards), Robert Plant (lead singer), and Jimmy Page (guitars). Their original drummer, John Bonham, passed away in 1980. His son, Jason Bonham, performed in this tribute playing the drums. This was a much grander 'production' of the original song... featuring the orchestra and choir. Greg, you were very intuitive in regards to reading the expressions on the faces of the Zeppelin guys. Robert Plant did get very emotional and tear up. In part, because of how beautiful and well done this tribute was performed. But also because none of them were aware that Jason would be playing drums. And Robert was reminiscing and missing his old bandmate....John, their original drummer. Great reaction!
Ann did Led Zeppelin proud. She & her sister are kick ass rockers. You need to check out the original & then you need to check out some 'Heart' music. 'Alone'. 'Magic man', 'Barracuda' are a good start. Love watching your reactions & seeing your kind heart.
It was also a nice tribute to Led zeppelin that Jason Bonham who has performed with the band many times since his dad's death was the Drummer. I was told the band didn't know Jason was going to perform that night. Sure Jason dad was smiling down on that ceremony that night.❤
OH GREG!!!!!! you fell straight into the 70-80's Rabbit hole of the the Verrrry best in the Biz!!!~ You HAVE TO react to Led Zepplin- Stairway to Heaven!! Then you will see what n honor this video is!!! THEN... react to Heart!! You will not be disappointed and you will never be the same My guy! I promise!!
Ann of Heart , who was the lead singer, was so amazing! At 62, to be able to sing over all the instruments and 2 choirs was incredible! Loved your reaction-very thoughtful!
Heart - Sisters, Ann and Nancy Wilson have been the Best Female Rockers for 50 years…and still going. Highly Recommend all performances from their Rock Hall Induction!
Aloha Greg I’m glad you enjoy it from an ex marine Vietnam era enjoy every moment of being alive life is a gift please support our veterans Ooorah blessings to y’all stay safe and best of health ciaos fr Waikiki Hawaii USA
If you look for it, you'll find Led Zep talking with David Letterman the following evening, on his show, about this performance. Greatest cover of that song, ever!
There were other artists who were there to honor Led, but this one seems the only one people remember. Ann was 62 here and Nancy 59. (I believe or close to it) A generation of acolytes including Jack Black, the Foo Fighters, Kid Rock, Lenny Kravitz and Heart paid hard-rocking tribute to Led Zeppelin in Washington D.C. Sunday night as the band received the Kennedy Center Honors in the annual gala tribute, to be broadcast on CBS December 26 . OTHER honorees included blues trailblazer blues guitarist and singer, Buddy Guy,, ballerina Natalia Makarova, David Letterman, and actor Dustin Hoffman. ONE reason Robert was so emotional was he didn't know his godson Jason Bonham was going to be there. He surprised them. The bowler hats they are all wearing is a tribute to John the drummer who passed away.
From what I understand, Plant asked Jason to go to the awards with him but he said he already had other plans. So it was really a surprise when he showed up on stage.
Jason was also playing his dad's drum set, the one that was used originally on this song and others. Absolutely a great rendition of this song, yet Heart usually plays other Led Zeppelin songs in concert with their own...from what I understand too, is Jason wanted Heart to perform with him because I don't think they were the ones that was going to be there. They had to leave after a show to get to D.C. and one day to practice. David Grohl was doing practice sets with choir and orchestra pieces. An EPIC preformance...
That man, Robert Plant (lead singer of Led Zeppelin) said he was very emotional seeing the drummer, Jason Bonham performing reminded him so much of Led Zeppelin's drummer John Bonham (known as Bonzo), Jason's father. And despite Led Zeppelin rumored to despise people covering this song in particular, they said they loved this!
The drummer is the son of John Bonhom - the original drummer of the band who died many years before. He used to wear the trademark Bowler hat which is featured in this live piece and worn by his son as he sat in for his late dad at the drums. Imagine the nervousness and the honor all mixed together to play this song in front of these legends? Wow.
2 of the baddest women in rock!!! And 2 of the baddest men!!!! It makes me cry to realize music is nothing like it use to be !! Music brought countries together it’s a healer !! It’s not like this anymore it’s so sad !!! Great reaction I love when a reactor gets it ❤❤❤❤❤
That, man in the middle, is Robert Plant, lead singer for Led Zeppelin. Next to him is John Paul Jones (Bass) and the other is Jimmy Page (Lead Guitar). That guitar solo is Jimmy Page's. The drummer here is Jason Bonham, son of the late John Bonham (drummer for Led Zeppelin). The lead singer here is Ann Wilson. Her sister, playing guitar is Nancy. They are the front for the band Heart, who has been around for over 40 years. Heart is a big fan of Led Zeppelin so, yeah, they picked the right person to do the cover.
Shayne Fontaine..Shayne Fontaine…Shayne Fontaine!!! OMG! Playing that guitar solo in front of Jimmy Page!!!! Can you imagine the pressure? Guitar God right there!
Ann and Nancy Wilson are Heart. They were the first true female rock band of the 70’s. Check out Barracuda, Magic Man and Crazy on You. I saw Heart in concert in 1975. They were incredible.
This is a great cover!! Led Zeppelin is so moved bcuz when their Drummer John Bonham passed, they kind of took his son Jason (playing surprise drums)under their wings. Jason's dad used to wear that Bolo hat & adding the choir made it that much more!! ❤
I'm just glad you watched the FULL version of this. There are to my knowledge 3 versions of this on UA-cam, the entire Led Zeppelin tribute (which also has edits of the Stairway To Heaven performance) the version that starts with the introduction of Jason Bonham and then this version that starts with the shot of the Kennedy Center. Many may not have noticed the edits in the other 2 but I've watched this SO MANY TIMES I soon became aware of them. The FULL version gives you every note and the total experience of this greatness!
2012 Kennedy Center Honors BEST evening of television EVER. You need to see the whole show!! Tina Faye roasts Letterman ... she slays it; Lenny Kravitz sings Whole Lotta Love.... They honor Buddy Guy. Go for it! Have friends and family over .... it will be magical.
This was a tribute concert for a famous rock group called Led Zeppelin during the the 70’s and 80’s were most popular. This was held at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC. The2 sisters singer and guitar player form the group called Heart. Very famous in very late 70’s thru current. The singer has a fabulous voice . The members of Led Zeppelin are in the balcony so you keep seeing glimpses of them reacting to the singing and guitar playing. This was probably the most impressive performance of the night.🥰🥰💕🤪🤪
You asked about the drummer. That is John Bonham's son. John Bonham was the drummer for the band and is considered one of the most innovative drummers in the business. Plant and Bonham were best friends and I think it was emotional for him to see the son performing.
Yeah the gents in the audience are Led Zeppelin. This was an honors show for lifetime achievement in musical excellence. The drummer in this show is the son of the original drummer who passed away in the early 80s.
Duuuuuuuude!!! You never heard “Stairway to Heaven” by Led Zeppelin before?!? Oh my God!!! That’s insane to me!!! Srsly, your music appreciation is freaking awesome! I so love that you’re going down this road, and exploring all these different genres. Bravo, to you my friend!!! That blows me away! I’m literally binge watching your channel❤🙏💯! I never knew anybody that hadn’t heard, “Stairway to Heaven” 😮. Your reaction made me cry!😭 My son played guitar. In sixth grade he played, “Stairway to Heaven”in his middle school auditorium. He was fantastic. Everyone stood up and clapped for 10 minutes flat, at least. He played it flawlessly. I remember, and I’ll never forget this. As he entered onto the stage, there were other young boys that played performing prior to him. It was a school competition. He was the very last contestant. As he was setting up his amp plugging in his guitar and peddles. (I’ll never forget this), hearing all the other parents, sitting around me, that I didn’t even know in the audience whispering. “Oh my God, wait till you hear this kid play!” Not knowing, I was his mother. The next year he played at the White House. He was a little blonde long haired rocker. He was a natural, that would literally sleep with his guitar. You brought back some really good memories for me tonight. Thank you. 👏❤️😭💯
Best part was that Jason was wearing his dad’s hat & playing on his dad’s drum kit. Also, Ann’s the only singer that Robert has given approval to sing this song.
Sure someone has said, Jason Bonham, drummer, is the son of the late, great John Bonham, original drummer for Led Zeppelin. Those 3 guys in the balcony raised that guy on the drums. Once in a lifetime moments for Jason.
Led Zeppelin showed their approval to Heart for their song. Ann has such a powerful voice, and with the choir added, the sound was more powerful and heart felt. RiP🙏 to Jason Bonham father John, he did his dad proud and the band also showed their appreciation to him in this performance. Great reaction. 🫶💯🔥
Understand you didnt hear the original Led Zeppelin did it in mid 70s. Ann Wilson of Heart hit it out of the park, one of the greatest singers ever. This was one of the greatest performances in my 60 yrs of listening to music. Check out Crazy on You, Alone, Barracuda and more from Heart. Best of success on yr channel.
You raally need to listen to the original version first before hearing this remake. Then you will understand how great this is. Led Zeppelin was one of the greatest rock and roll bands ever. Robert Plant, the lead singer, was amazing. This song is epic. What Heart did with this song to honor Led Z eppelin is the greatest remake of a song ever done at the Kennedy Center.
If you haven’t heard the original this video has half the impact. You need to know who’s watching in the audience during this performance! This is epic beyond words.
You seriously need to listen to Led Zeppelin's original, it is one of the "Gold Standards" of Rock music. The lead singer from Zeppelin (the gentleman with the curls) always said he hated listening to covers of this song, as nobody did it well. But he loved this version so much you could see tears. The singer and the blonde guitarist were the 2 sisters who made up Heart, there is a lot in their catalog worth listening to. The drummer was the son of the original drummer for Zeppelin, the other band members had invited him to sit with them during the Kennedy Honors (awards started by JFK held at the Kennedy Center honoring outstanding people in the artistic field), he declined, telling them he had a previous engagement. They did not know he was going to replace his father, wearing his father's iconic hat, while honoring the bands most iconic song.
The chorus are wearing bowler hats in homage to the drummer of the group who passed away several years ago. His son is also a drummer with his own band and played there that night, The group didn’’t expect it at all!!!! They were so surprised when he showed up. You really need to see the entire performance up to the end where the drummer saluted his father’s band. In fact one of the band is his godfather!
🖤🤘🖤Ann and Nancy have been long time fans of Led Zeppelin…a inspiration for them as musicians.🖤✨🖤🤘🖤 Zeppelin is Iconic and so are Ann and Nancy Wilson of Heart 🖤✨🖤
I can't come up with any others that could have pulled this off as well. No pressure. Just cover Robert Plant on vocals and Jimmie Page on guitar. The GOATS of rock and roll... Also Jason paid a beautiful homage to his father.
Zak, you can't think of any others that could pull this off because there are NONE. Anne Wilson is the GOAT. Nobody else could've done this any better than her, NO ONE.
Hi Ann is 72 and Nancy is 69. Ann turns 73 on June 19th. Her and Nancy are doing solo concerts. Ann almost always sells out her concerts. Heart hasn't had a tour since 2019 .
For those who may not know, John Bonham often wore a bowler hat. That is why his son Jason is wearing one and the reason why the entire choir behind him are also wearing bowler hats.
This is the best, absolutely a wonderful cover and tribute to Led Zeppelin. Another not to be missed tribute is the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame performance of While My Guitar Gently Weeps to honor George Harrison. And for some of the best musicians and music ever you must get into Queen. I recommend watching their live performances from Wembley 1986, also Montreal 1981, and Budapest 1986.
I can't believe you haven't heard this song before, ok, the new generations are really saturated with so much music today, bad and good, but this song is one of the greatest rock classics of all time that everyone should know. But it's never too late. This performance is amazing, the singer, the musicians, the choir, phenomenal. And the response of Led Zeppelin is very touching.
The drummer is the son of Led Zeppelin’s drummer, John Bonham, who died which ultimately led to the band breaking up. They said he couldn’t be replaced.
Heart is the very first female rock group who formed in the 70's. Back then people werent very excepting of women and rock so they didn't get alot of air time on the radio like the men rock singers but they didnt give up and Ann & Nancy (who are sisters btw) eventually pushed their way heavily onto the rock scene in the early 80's and has been killin' it ever since ❤ Ann doesnt have the capability to sing a bad note if you ask me, she was 62 when she covered this song, she sounded like she was still in her prime ❤ check out her discography, you won't regret it... I promise!
Heart started their career opening for led zeppelin who are the older guys they keep showing. They ended their careers when their drummer and life long friend was tragically killed the guy on the drums for heart is the son of that drummer from led zeppelin he is playing his dads drums wearing his dad's hat. The man that is all emotional is the god father to the guy on the drums. He had asked him to come and represent his dad, he told them he couldn't make it due to a prior commitment so him walking out on stage was also emotional for him!
The musicians on stage are Heart. Heart was the lead vocals and guitar, the Wilson sisters. Nancy Wilson on the acoustic guitar, Ann Wilson is the lead singer. They are sisters. There were just a handful of rock n roll female singers. Literally 5 or 6 females. The drummer is Jason Bonham wearing the bowler hat worn by his father John Bonham who was the drummer for Led Zeppelin. When John died it broke the heart of the band and the band called it quits. The older guys in the audience are the 3 remaining members of Led Zeppelin, Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and Robert Plant. Robert is notorious for not liking others to cover their music. I think we can all agree that Heart and all other musicians on that stage did a superb job on this classic song.
I believe Ann was SIXTY FIVE when she sang this, actually. Freaking amazing. One of finest rock vocalist ever. And for the record, HEART is an incredibly prolific, and great band; but this is NOT HEART. It is the Wilson sisters from HEART (with some of the best musicians around. ALWAYS for the kennedy center honors!).
Classic! That was fantastic! I love this dude Gary! Just found his channel this evening. 🔥

Yeah, aren't the amazing gals?🪻💙
And to think Ann did this at age 62 and had the flu. The band Heart was honored the following year as they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Song is almost 50 years old and still one the most iconic rock songs of all time. And the Wilson sisters killed it!!!
You've made me so happy by watching you watching this & seeing your reaction. Ann Wilson killed this, absolutely killed it & nobody will EVER be able to top her performance.
Sure Robert😉 You’re absolutely right, crazy performance but the Original is something else🤷♂️

Barracuda for sure!!! It's a total classic and her voice in that...dayummm... no one will ever come close!!!
I'll be seeing Robert Plant and Alison Krauss in Taos NM next month. Psyched!!
Dang! You lucky!!!!😊
It was also a nice tribute to Led zeppelin that Jason Bonham who has performed with the band many times since his dad's death was the Drummer. I was told the band didn't know Jason was going to perform that night. Sure Jason dad was smiling down on that ceremony that night.❤

Heart - Sisters, Ann and Nancy Wilson have been the Best Female Rockers for 50 years…and still going.
Highly Recommend all performances from their Rock Hall Induction!
Ann Wilson's vocals are literally a force of nature. She can sing anything, and blow your hair back.

no one dares to cover Led Zepplin. this is a master piece. 👏👏👏
Ann is amazing. Heart is amazing.
I just cannot imagine being the guitarist play in front of JIMMY PAGE!!!!!!!! The greatest guitarist to walk the earth!!
Honest to God. Facts, right there.
Yeah, no pressure, right?

Heart - Barracuda + Kick it out
Anne Wilson and her sister Anne are both a storm you cannot deny. Love Heart!!!
Shayne Fontaine..Shayne Fontaine…Shayne Fontaine!!! OMG! Playing that guitar solo in front of Jimmy Page!!!! Can you imagine the pressure? Guitar God right there!

Led Zeppelin- The greatest rock band in the history of rock!!! Come on Greg!
I’m so glad someone recommended this to you. This is one of my favorite videos ever. Love your curiosity and your enthusiasm!
One of the greatest songs of all time
That's Led Zeppelin; and Heart is honoring them by singing their most popular song. This performance has been called a religious experience.
Can´t get much better than this, really... 😍
Led Zeppelin is so good and influential. Please review more of them. They are blues influenced. Top notch vocals and amazing musicians.
Rock Legends playing for Rock gods!
This is iconic. Ann was a big big fan of Led Zeppelin and was popular around the same time as them. This was a perfect tribute.
Great song
I'm just glad you watched the FULL version of this. There are to my knowledge 3 versions of this on UA-cam, the entire Led Zeppelin tribute (which also has edits of the Stairway To Heaven performance) the version that starts with the introduction of Jason Bonham and then this version that starts with the shot of the Kennedy Center. She gets up there
One of the 2 best ever performances at Kennedy Center Honors. The other being Aretha Franklins tribute to Carole King.
Ann Wilson of Heart has one of the best contemporary voices out there. She is a goddess!
Best cover of Led Zeppelin ever. So great.
Great reaction Greg. I watch this performance several times a year and every time it gives me chills.
Gotta love some Anne and Nancy Wilson... Heart... covered that song like nobody's business... love.
If you don’t get emotional when hearing this song, you don’t have a soul.
2012 Kennedy Center Honors BEST evening of television EVER. You need to see the whole show!! Tina Faye roasts Letterman ... she slays it; Lenny Kravitz sings Whole Lotta Love.... They honor Buddy Guy. Go for it! Have friends and family over .... it will be magical.

great RX, and that's great you liked the song the first time you've ever heard. Thanks for being open to new music and new artists. Keep it up!
Keep in mind Ann Wilson singing is in her mid 60s in age doing this
This was a fabulous combination of talent. Very rare to see this.
The drummer is the original drummers son ,and wearing his dad's hat.
Duuuuuuuude!!! You never heard “Stairway to Heaven” by Led Zeppelin before?!? Oh my God!!! That’s insane to me!!! Srsly, your music appreciation is freaking awesome! Best part was that Jason was wearing his dad’s hat & playing on his dad’s drum kit. Also, Ann’s the only singer that Robert has given approval to sing this song.
good music will always and forever rock my soul
Your reaction at the moment the back stage opened up with the singers wearing John's hat was priceless. Good job.
👏👏👏👏👏
Wow wow wow!! Those heart ladies phew❤ And sewing Led Zeplin’s reaction.... oh my. :). Yes!! The choir was amazing!
Jason did his dad some beautiful Justice!
Sure someone has said, Jason Bonham, drummer, is the son of the late, great John Bonham, original drummer for Led Zeppelin. Those 3 guys in the balcony raised that guy on the drums. Once in a lifetime moments for Jason.
Wilsons doing this cover is a GOOD as the original! 🎵🎶💗
This is something I never get tired of hearing. Wonderful….go watch the original.
Cool react, this was a masterpiece!!, glad you appreciated it, and im digging the black ops poster!
Led Zeppelin showed their approval to Heart for their song.
Ann has such a powerful voice, and with the choir added, the sound was more powerful and heart felt. RiP🙏 to Jason Bonham father John, he did his dad proud and the band also showed their appreciation to him in this
performance. Great reaction. 🫶💯🔥
Outstanding reaction to an epic masterpiece! Kudos!
Two great catalogs to dive into. Led Zeppelin and Heart!
You raally need to listen to the original version first before hearing this remake. Then you will understand how great this is. Led Zeppelin was one of the greatest rock and roll bands ever. This is great that you do this, bad use it won’t let this legendary music die off in the wind. Keeps it alive!!
That was absolute greatness!
Thank you for my smile this morning😊.
🔥🔥🔥
The chorus are wearing bowler hats in homage to the drummer of the group who passed away several years ago. His son is also a drummer with his own band and played there that night, The group didn’’t expect it at all!!!! They were so surprised when he showed up. You really need to see the entire performance up to the end where the drummer saluted his father’s band. In fact one of the band is his godfather!
Best cover ever!!!
🖤🤘🖤Ann and Nancy have been long time fans of Led Zeppelin…a inspiration for them as musicians.🖤✨🖤🤘🖤 Zeppelin is Iconic and so are Ann and Nancy Wilson of Heart 🖤✨🖤
Excellent choice.
A masterpiece!
You nailed it, great performance!
@@patrickkelly5009 Exactly. I thought I made that clear...
🔥🔥🔥🔥🎶🎶💯
The drummer is the son of Led Zeppelin’s drummer, John Bonham, who died which ultimately led to the band breaking up. They said he couldn’t be replaced.
And this is in Rolling Stones too 10 songs of all time. It’s historic
I promise!
Need to watch Led Zeppelin's live performance!!!!
Love ♥️
Heart started their career opening for led zeppelin who are the older guys they keep showing. They ended their careers when their drummer and life long friend was tragically killed the guy on the drums for heart is the son of that drummer from led zeppelin he is playing his dads drums wearing his dad's hat. The man that is all emotional is the god father to the guy on the drums. He had asked him to come and represent his dad, he told them he couldn't make it due to a prior commitment so him walking out on stage was also emotional for him!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Heart made a lot of Music in the late 70s and 80s music
I believe Ann was SIXTY FIVE when she sang this, actually. Freaking amazing. One of finest rock vocalist ever. And for the record, HEART is an incredibly prolific, and great band; but this is NOT HEART. It is the Wilson sisters from HEART (with some of the best musicians around. ALWAYS for the kennedy center honors!).
I love your reaction 🤘😎
