I never thought about how an AT-ST’s legs would have to be manually moved to allow for travel over literally any sort of terrain that isn’t flat. I have a new respect for Imperial pilots.
I wonder how difficult it was for the Clone walker pilots since they’re much faster and smaller
CCuppy
As in the ones with a ton of legs or the ones that kinda hop while running?
Snnoy the ones that sorta hop, I remember Mace Windu also piloting one in an episode
CCuppy
My guess is that the reaction time of a clone trooper is a lot faster than that of a storm trooper since, y’know, they’re literally bred for war. It still would be incredibly difficult though, yeah.
Snnoy yeah that’s definitely a good explanation, and it’d also explain why the smaller walkers were phased out after the Empire took over

I like the balance of oxygen and health. Oxygen is a “pusher”, a pseudo timer pushing you to the next objective as fast as possible, while Health counters brazen speedrunning forcing players to deal with the natives.
You sure? Speedrunners just need to spend all their money on armor and filter and push forward on turbo mode: crushing enemies seems to be quite an effective tactic
Although, as a function of background using more oxygen to move and reload faster makes no sense. I mean, is your walker powered by an internal combustion engine and reloading is done by a team of undocumented migrant workers? In that case giving them more oxygen would help them work faster.
And while it's difficult to tell what the atmospheric composition is like there is lots of green, suggesting the terrestrial-looking flora uses chlorophyll, which produces oxygen. Surely future colonists can rig some kind of separation or filter mechanism to the walker's life support system so hey, free oxygen! But granted, oxygen is used as a "fuel". I guess instead of that you could just use fuel?
You know you're in trouble when you've got lower rate of fire on your mech than your opponents using bows/spears/molotov cocktails - that walker had to wait between shots like it was in a turn based game!

"The poisonous atmosphere of the planet killed the pilots after their cockpits get pierced"
Then why not equip the pilots with pressurized suits just like the ground soldiers??
Give me fucking suit, for fucks sake. TIE and Zaku pilots get treated better than this.
@@kabob0077 The suits are pierced easily, and have their own oxygen supply that'd lead to neither the BE-A Walker or the pilot having enough oxygen...
@@spyrelle3970 Thing is, a suit in case of the hull being pierced means you won't die of oxygen deprivation and might have a CHANCE of getting back or continuing the mission.
Also, a suit like a TIE or Mobile Suit pilot would be good because in one case the TIE has no Life Support while in the other case a Mobile Suit does have LS but you have a suit in case of hull breaches. It is always a good idea to make sure your pilots can survive in the event of hull damage.
@@kabob0077 I get where you're coming from, but as seen in-game, if you're hit by a spear then that thing's going straight through you, it's even quoted that "Their giant arrows pierced our armor like it was paper." If your hull is peirced, your suit will be to.

Planterion yeah but tanks don’t have feet for you to satisfying tap-dance your enemy to death with, now do they?
@@zama422 you have an excelent point
Ghostx357 Who needs tap dancing when we can grease the treads with blood?
To be fair tanks are much better for a job like this. They are easier to repair and have thicker armour. Plus you can get rid of some complicated shit (like in theory you are fighting savages, so like why do you, for example, need a automatic defense system?) do make the tank carry more ammo, be easier to repair and be more reliable. I would probably get rid of the cannon in exchange for an 20 or 30mm gun, and also put a bunch of 50 cals (or the scifi equelivant) on the turret for 360° coverage of the battlefield.
@@happyguardsman8510 that would be the actual approach, having a 30mm equiped APC, with gas lauchers, and a squad of infantry for suppor. also i would clear cut the entire forest. at least 1 kilometer arround each of the outpost, and clear roads between them. that way you eliminate the hiding places for the xenos

This guy be the guy in the movies who would charge an enemy in melee range with a rifle..
Very reminiscent of Walker on the Amiga. Looks cool
I would guess that any semblance of an aerial bombardment would be enough to wipe out any "savage" on the planet, but it seems unlikely that this game hadn't figured something that simple out, so I'm guessing there's some plot device that prevents that or something.
maybe they don't want to go through the trouble of waiting for +200 years of terraforming.
Maybe they don't actually wanna ruin the entire planet with carpet bombings and ruining the echo system. Hell, the General says he doesn't really like having to kill Savages at all, so maybe there not aiming for the complete genocide of these people, they just want to secure a area for humanity.
Airstrikes only work as well as the ground forces that exploit them. And even then, they're not always guranteed to take the intended targets out.
Vietnam and former Yugoslavia are two examples where air superiority didn't quite make as much of a strategic dent as was the hope.
And yeah, as others have noted, heavy bombardment can cause undue collateral, which can have negative long-term consequences that may make it unappealing to begin with.
Raidenze the plot device is it being a parody/satire of some sci-fi games/movies , the robot is like a AT , you go to kill indigenous people of alien planet , etc
