Everything that came after got more and more soft.
Some great world building in this.
It even feels tense and foreboding just watching.

@Raximus3000 I mean the look, feel, and sound of the world that gives you clues what might have happened or is happening without actually explaining it in the plot.
The artists did a fantastic job replicating Eric Chahi’s detailed art style!

i absolutly love the atmosphere of isolation and melancholy. No music, just your footsteps in the howling wind.

Gave me Heart of Darkness vibes, nice, also beautiful art. Although I am not sure how to feel about the game trying to kill the protagonist a tad bit too aggressively, the big monster was attacking a bit randomly.
Came here for this immediately thought of heart of darkness
lol try Another World/ Out of this World. That game from 1991 is more punishing than this. The second you press Start you're immediately in a do or die situation with no explanation whatsoever.
This game's gimmick seems to be surprise QTEs like the Lift Grab one.
I was also about to comment about it’s great Heart of Darkness vibes.

Heart of Darkness had really amazing death animations, I think if you’re going to kill the player every minute or two, sometimes at random, cutting to black isn’t the way to go. The game looks great otherwise
Heart of Darkness was a really cool game.
Small animations in good old style of Dangerous Dave would perfectly fit here IMO :-)
Unfortunately I missed heart of darkness but I played and finished another world.
Yup, it reminded me of Heart of Darkness in the first minute, I think it has some of the most fluid pixel animations I know of
Heart of Darkness' intro was terrifying enough for me as a child (adult), let alone when the shadows started moving and game started. Agree, very similar feel to it.
I've been subscribed for years but I've only just recently returned, honestly this new intro and outro pun thing you do is absolute gold
the art, the colors, the atmosphere are great, the puzzles are simple yet not overly complicated, this is gonna be so cool and fun when it is fully released

...Still wracking my head around the first Fail State at the beginning.
Ugh, that water level in _Another World_ was rough. 😬 (For a moment there, I thought the sewer area was going to have crawling between steam pipes like in AW. Maybe the full version…)
Kind of curious how an AI is keeping adults in control while the kids are free. I saw one figure clearly playing in VR, is the story perhaps all the adults are experiencing a false reality in VR?
Would be very keen to give this a go, I adored Heart of Darkness.
Maybe it's like The Evil Within, a VR utopia, that corrupted by... something. Also, kids brain are behave differently than adults.
I believe in this future of the game chips can be implanted to your brain but the law does this if only a person over the age of if 18 and an AI hive mind of somesort took control of everything including the adults brain chips and now kids fight for survival and taking down the AI
Some death do feel a bit arbitrary. I mean the charater has been running, jumping and doing parkour for a while now but they put one foot on wet floor and they slip and die drowning ?
That aside, it is gorgeous. Great sprite work for sure. Very out o this world/flashback/heart of darkness vibes from it. Kinda hope we do get ab it more context in the full game tho. Like uh.. why are children spaed from the evil rogue Ai ? Did it have a "you must be this tall" limit on the mind control helmet ?
I'm really excited for the full game. Obviously it's quite dark but it looks like it'll be a lot of fun to play. I also absolutely love the art, especially the backgrounds.

The animation and sprites and this game look phenomenal. A great atmosphere too. I love cinematic platformers so I might need to check this out

Other than the absolutely ludicrous death by slipping on water that feels like some stupid hilarious garbage they'd do in a King's Quest game, this was a cool demo with good throwback vibes. Really wish the death scenes were more detailed and longer than 0.4 seconds, though.

Wow, that was incredibly true to its inspirations, I could see both games in it. 😲👍 Hopefully they can loop in some _Flashback_ for the story and game-play as well for the ultimate 8-bit platformer. 😀

The artwork and environment is fantastic, and the hacking element is interesting. Unsure how tedious the gameplay might become.
Wow, i freaking love cinematic platformers & good ones its rare of a kind and this is some impressive almost rotoscoping animated gem, and it's more Heart of Darkness for me and i absolutely love it because HoD probably my favorite c-platformer still. Can't wait to release, this graphics are Vibe ! thx abg for showing us so many unknown future little treasures.

Game looks great and has some nice light platforming sections but I am not a fan of the constant trial and error but I guess that is just common for this type of game. Also a lot of little nightmares 2 inspiration by the look of things

I played Out of this World a lot a lot on my Sega in the 90's. Absolutely loved it, though it was quite challenging. The trial and error death sequences played a big part in overcoming the different sections the game threw at you, much like what was seen here. This entire demo reminded me very much of that game, but with a different setting and hostiles.

I'm not big on platformers, but I liked this one and the storyline. Wouldn't mind seeing this adapted as a first person survival/strategy game.
Amazing world building and design. Respect to the devs!!! Game has some serious Another World and Heart of Darkness vibes. Makes me wonder-- what is so special about these games, these settings... they are so mysterious and memorable.
the guy moved like the guy from Flashback but you can clearly see the Another world shining through on most of the puzzles ^^

In the best traditions of flashback and another world. My only critique - protagonist running speed is abysmal. I understand that he is just a kid, but I am very certain person running for his life can do a bit faster.
…I think it’s not only the speed, it’s the run cycle animation dynamics as well
For me, this single tiny little thing spoils the otherwise ASTONISHING experience of watching the reel, cause the run cycle is the core animation of the game and its dynamics define the feel of gameplay…
I wish there was a way to revise the animation before the release

Simple narrative experience. The gameplay might feels cheap but i adore the visuals.
this game looks absolutly stuning, the visuals, the ambience are really good, and the gameplay seems a solid experience, a flashback style game.
I really want to play it and know the full story and the why's? of that "hellish" world.
The only big suggestion i would give you is the death animations, if you are gonna kill the player time over time over time, add diff death animations (like in heart of darkness), you are building an amazing world, dont let it just be a black screen.
I would love to play the full game of this! 🤩

Heart of darkness and flashback had a baby together. What a masterpiece!
i'm so glad the game remembered to try and give us some lore, i guess adults were fooled into doing something to make themselves basically dead and completely lose the will to rebel. But children of age 40 or younger are uneffected and get to learn the hard lessons of hacking computer systems, being at a constant jog, and avoiding zombie dog which somehow has some will to live. i'm no expert but last i checked dog outruns man any and everyday of the week. i'm not saying "thanks i hate it" there has to be more of a dilapidation that caused the dog to only be able to move as fast as it can but be slower than 15 year old boy and that's some DOS fast laptop to just pull it out, do thing, and put it away. Must have amazing power saver technology.

This setting with a different color in the sky, turning the city into a dark environment with lighted buildings and zombified people in the windows as if they were plugged into something. It makes me imagine a world where these alien beings keep people trapped in their homes. It disturbed me. I wish this project success!
