The developer of Swallow the Sea has released a new game called Perfect Vermin, where you kill flesh monsters that disguise themselves as office furniture. It gets pretty weird! You can check out a gameplay video here: ua-cam.com/video/vC94L-H8LJw/v-deo.html

I think this game is much better, because it has a deeper meaning like: how life works, the figth for power, the glory of the strong ones, the acend and fall of the kings, that there will always be some stronger than us, the pragnatism of been cruel, the sweet taste of revenge, etc. In perfect vermin you go destroying mimic furniture and then repeat the same... and nothing more.

You’ve got the job.
Everyone's interpretation is different, but what's amusing to me is the end seems like the creatures fall victim to a machine, which is an invention by humans. So there are human-like monsters out of water that hunt those things? What's also amusing is the player character works to be the strongest to survive, only to be bested by a mechanism that don't evolve into all teeth and monsters.
might be a representation of the feelings the fish feel while discovering the world. they don't get to really see the whole creature before they start swimming away and their brain makes it look scarier

Danny Barzilay Yeah, that’s interesting. Although I was expecting the player to be basically a larval version of the Orro, and that’s what it would hatch into when the game ended.
The only thing I have to point out is that it’s obviously purple, not pink.
That is mighty interesting
@@lillyuwu4054 its #e7a1e7 for most of its body. I'm not here to resolve this disagreement but just to make it more precise.
Pretty cool to see the Orro in varying states of dismemberment throughout the game, too. The most morbid ‘aha’ moment when the credits reveal why.
Y'know, I think there's actually a clue in the game itself as to Borrus's ultimate fate. It cuts to black, supposing to leave it up to the viewer's imagination whether or not Borrus was able to get out of the way or not, but I think the game has already told us in a really clever way that he doesn't.
Go back to the very start of the game and look at the bottom of the screen. Took me a while to realize that thing is a meter that tells you how close you are to your next evolution. More importantly, the icon at the top of it shows you what your next stage looks like. A 4-celled embryo.
Every time Borrus changes, this icon changes, too, to show you what the next "stage" in his life will be.
Now look what happens at 6:33.
Once you've seen the ending of the game, the meaning of that is unmistakable.

Fog of war babay
When I see games like this I always hate the fact that your enemies will not fight each other
It feels like there is no ecosystem only a hivemind planning to kill an irregularity
I mean, the red creatures run away from the giant purple snake thing
Actually the entire game technically is that, the species that borrus (the foetus thing) who I will call boris cus its easier, is clearly shown eating smaller Boris’S (?) and also being chased by a giant fish snake called Orro who just like boris also has a human like head and wouldn’t you know it is a cannibal and that lends itself to the myth Orro Borrus which is a massive snake eating its own tail meant to represent infinity. Proving that the enemies do fight each other even if you don’t see it.
Just like an immune system. White blood cells trying to kill an invader. This could be turned into an educational game.

Underwater horror games are such genuinely good concepts.
This game really made me feel sick... though part of that might just be that im hungry. But as i was playing, the sight mechanic where parts of the screen are just black, the fact you are obviously eating things that are like you, and they make the same sound you make when you get damaged. and of course the ending... its all just a sickening experience. I loved it.

This game, "SOMA" and "Subnautica" did well to portray the horror and creepiness of the ocean.
Certainly, theres just something about the underwater vibe, the lighting and atmosphere combined with the decreased visibility that does it, you just get this profound feeling of darkness. SOMA really was a masterpiece ahead of its time, even getting labeled better than Amnesia.
@Demeka Coleman Sure as hell was, I hope to god someone will make a VR version.
I know replying to this comment is committing online necromancy, but for a general source of recommendations look on the tv tropes page for "eldritch ocean abyss" in the video games section. Tread carefully though, lest tv tropes ruin your life.
No lie i felt sorry for the cute fetus thing at the end.
Maybe it got away?
Is anything cute in this game?
I feel like the ending is more about it getting caught in the fish nets and escaping to grow up an eldritch horror rather than it being crushed. It looked like it had enough strength to move and it was near the edge too. At least that kind of ending would be cooler
The whole point of the game is the show how abortion is awful. It’s a very good pro-life game.

This game remembers me the time when I was a kid and I was really scared of underwater levels in Video Games, especially in platform games like Sonic and Ecco. The feeling of finding a giant terrifying sea beast while navigating through the darkest and deepest areas of the sea always used to give me goosebumps. When playing these games, I always had the impression that I was going to experience something like we can see in this video.
I think it's about animals that get killed by humans. Think about it, a wild animal lives most of its life in fear of larger, scarier animals. It avoids those animals until it grows up to become the larger, scarier animal. But none of it will matter when it is all abruptly cut short when all the animals, big and small, are killed by a human machine.
Least it came to an abrupt end and not a violent prolonged death via natural means

I love this channel so much. The way you play makes these videos almost feel like a trailer or exhibition for the game, like you’re being careful to show off the finest points of these games the way the developers likely intended. Also, the sheer number of obscure, artistic indie games you showcase that I’d never find myself makes me a little nostalgic for the times when Markiplier would play weird games like “A Box Full of Joy” and “Brighter Day” and I’d watch them before going to bed. Umut yigit its literally not abortion
Borrus is still alive. There are 2 reasons why I think Borrus (the fetus) survived. The first is that he realized he was going to be crushed, so he quickly gathered strength, got up and possibly escaped, apart that it was on the edge of the range where it was crushing, so one move and it was safe. The second is that there was a gold body there (the humanoid whale) which by the time the machine crushed gold, it will be very hard so it may be that it makes the machine run and berrus escape, or the other is that it gives you time because of how hard it is another (the humanoid whale), so the machine will have a hard time crushing it and berrus (the fetus) successfully escapes in what it takes for the machine to crush the humanoid whale. Finally berrus is still alive and quite possibly we will see a second chapter of this game
Maui No, Borrus is not alive. Even if he could, Borrus would only have part of his body remaining resulting in death as it was just about to fall right there and then.
Maui And as well, seeing as how easily Borrus could destroy Orro, I doubt the machine would have trouble crushing Orro.
