    I liked Luna and Gangrel. I will sometimes read stuff like "WWE didn't know how to use Gangrel" and that sort of stuff. He had a long run through the peak period of WWE's success. While he was generally on Heat and the lower card, he lit that part of the show up and made it very interesting to watch. He's part of the tapestry of the Attitude era.

    • @dkupke
      @dkupke 5 років тому +22

      If you watch other parts of this interview, it is clear WWE had no few plans for him beyond him helping get Edge and Christian established and confident enough to stand on their own. I wish he had gotten to hold a title like the European or Hardcore belt, but overall I’d say he has nothing to regret.

      I remember hearing an interview with Jim Ross where he stated that Gangrel was originally supposed to be the star out of everybody in The Brood but when The Brood spoke for the first time in an interview Gangrel's promo skills weren't very good whereas Edge nailed it. Ultimately it became obvious that edge was going to be the breakout star of the group.

    Its a sign of how much he and Luna loved each other that they knew they could not go on together. As he said, with all the drugs and partying they could have killed each other eventually-and it shows how much they cared to realize they could not go on like that.

      I was just thinking today that, if they wanted to give Gangrel one last run in the WWE, they could have Bray Wyatt return after the Ultimate Deletion, claiming that he was sent to some very dark and strange places after being thrown into the Lake of Reincarnation (Gangrel was originally booked as coming from "the Other Side of Darkness"), but he came back with the aid of someone he met there- an _old friend_ of Matt's (Matt and Jeff joined the New Brood with Gangrel in 1999 after Edge and Christian split from him). Then the arena goes dark except for the red lighting, the whispering starts, the ring of fire appears... any fans from the Attitude Era would _lose their fucking minds._

      I don't know about a huge reaction for Gangrels possible return, on one of the Halloween episodes the New Days music came on then suddenly replaced by the Brood music and out came the New Day dressed as the Brood with not much of a reaction from the crowd almost as if that crowd was unfamiliar with the Brood

    Gangrel is such a honest guy in interviews he hides nothing back and holds his hands up to the wild antics that wrestlers of the past was known for.
    It was sad that Luna Vachon seemed to struggle in her personal life, but I hope she knows that she truly is one of the legends of female wrestling and her dedication to the sport and the portrayal of a very unique character and top female heel in the days before "divas" is remembered so fondly by fans. I hope WWE do the right thing and give Luna her HOF induction as her career certainly merits it.
    I like Gangrel too , I saw him live at a show years back and he seems a cool guy and is still active on the west coast mainly now.

    I love watching interviews with Gangrel! I met him nearly 5 years ago now, he was just the best! I really hope that he comes over to the UK to see us again soon! I know obviously he is so busy with wrestling and training and him getting married next year, I’m sure he will want to spend a lot more time in the US rather than travelling abroad. I was worried to hear about his numbness and injury recently, so I really hope he gets back healthy! I’m sure he’ll soon be cutting down on the wrestling and the travels to spend more time training students and with his new wife, but it will be awesome to get to see him at least one more time. When I met him my brother drove, as I didn’t have a driving license at the time (quite strange because it’s not in my county where we met him and I actually ended up going to that very same place to pass my driving test a couple of years later!) so now I drive myself there will be no rush and we can hang around to talk properly! I could tell he wanted us to stay especially since we followed his whole career since before WWF and he could tell we were genuine big fans, but unfortunately my brother had work the next day early. So please Gangrel come and visit us in the UK one more time! I don’t care where it is, I will drive miles to see you!!

    I remember doing the show with you two, I think 2006, in Ocean City Maryland at the convention center with NWA/TNA. I was actually surprised at how down to earth she was, after hearing all of the stories. At least that day anyways. In any case, it was a pleasure working with you guys and meeting you. Between you and Duggan, Tom Brandy and everyone else on that card, it was a blast. I miss the business, but my neck and back would be completely obliterated had I not stopped. It was bad enough even then. In any case, I hope all is well. One of these days I’m going to get to your school and hang out for a few days. I haven’t taken a bump in years. For whatever reason, it always used to make my back feel better. Almost like a chiropractic adjustment. Lol.

    Gangrel is SUUUUUCH a sweetheart in person. I got to tell him what i would have told Luna if she was still here...and hand to god...he hugged me and said that if she was here, i would have made her cry with all i said. I feel she was COMPLETELY underrated and unappreciated in WWF/WWE....and if she was to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame...that Sable should induct her cause if it wasnf for Luna jobbing like she did...Sable would have NOT been taken seriously AT ALL as a wrestler.

    I saw Gangrel give a wrestling fan; with low budget equipment and a one man operation channel; plenty of time and quality, like it was a major network. It was from the late 1990s and the interviewer was a stuttering, overweight, nerd with long hair and a mustache,dressed as a cowboy. Gangrel is a class act and very funny.

    Hmm I wonder, how come Luna Vachon is very rarely mentioned when people talk about legendary female wrestlers? I didn't watch wrestling back in the mid 90's so I don't really know much about her but she was in one of the WWF games for the SNES so surely, she might have been the top female wrestler in the WWF/WWE at some point.

    Fun fact, back "in the day" pro wrestlers especially Heels got sued ALL-THE-TIME. But, all they did was skip town. There was not a national database as advance as it is now.

    Watching gangrel interviews are cool. He is a truly nice guy and alot of knowledge. wwe needs to out him in the hall of fame.
    when Luna vachon is put into the wwe hall of fame what a better way is to ask gangrel is her former husband to induct her and to do it.
