Gangrel putting Edge and Christian over is the most humbling thing. He deserved a push just because of how much of a "team player" he was.
You don't deserve pushes. You earn them.
No, Gangrel deserved a push because he was actually GOOD, not because he's a "team player", that makes no sense what so ever, you get popular and memorable for a reason, if he was just a team player you wouldn't remember him, because he had a pretty uneventful, short run all things considered, yet he made the most out of it.
@@vleaky3430 lol. I know you were trying to sound philosophical, but to act like everyone who was pushed "earned" it is silly. Plenty of shitty wrestlers that Vince liked more than the fans.
@@LordRaptor I never said Gangrel wasn't good. Calm down. I said he deserved it regardless because of how much he helped with putting Edge over. Also, you can most certainly be remembered without being good in the ring. Not sure why that's difficult to understand. Gangrel is a pretty good example because most people remember his music over his matches.
Sadly it was hard to do big things with him cause he wasn’t a great promo.
GANGREL AND THE BROOD HAD ONE OF THE BEST ENTRANCE MUSIC...GOD I MISS THE ATTITUDE ERA😢🤘
yup. that was befor that stupid twilight
My sentiments exactly. When that music hit and those flames lit up, I always marked out.
The Bearded Woman! Me too, It was the greatest era of all time
That music was excellent
yeah it is right up there with my entrance
Wow, this guy sounds real humble about his time and place in the business. Respect.
greato80 David is one of the best all around workers in the business both in the ring and behind the scenes. He was there because he wanted to be there, not because he wanted to be a star, but because he wanted to be a wrestler.
Even when The Brood got over with the fans he always called it an "accident" . A humble warrior indeed
He should be
Gangrel really helped Edge and Christian get to where they are now. I'd love a Brood reunion one day.
👀
you're probably getting it, after since what edge did to seth rollins, who knows hehe
@@dpedrosoliano well christian is in aew so definitely not lmao. Would be wierd if they try toand its just edge and gangrel
They had one in the last episode of the Edge and Christian show. The 3 were together.
Although kiss is my favorite group (with ace and peter), i never liked that brood entrance, but I agree with a reunion being pretty awesome... even for just a promo
The theme music of Gangrel and the brood was the highlight of the attitude era..
Simply Zulu The Ministry of Darkness Theme was pretty good too.
Truly underrated and that's from a hood nigga
Nothing is more iconic than hearing that shattering glass and seeing stone cold. THAT IS EPIC.
Best entrance of all time. Austin will always get the pop, sure-
But Gangrel and The Brood by far has the coolest music and entrance.
I thought so too, as well as Stone Cold and Triple H. Just like the era, they all had attitude to them.
"I knew my role". A rather humble dude.
"No no no, I knew my role"
If we could only hear that not just in wrestling but… in everything. At all times.
Agree
The rock would appreciate that
This guy got what his role was. I wish others got it as well as he did. :)
He knew his role and shut his mouth
firebugjohnnypyro Cm punk should take notes
Nowadays everyone wants to be the face and also a world champion which is annoying really
@@smittyj383 exactly cm punk is such a mellinial brat.
Theres no such thing as a "Straight edge" athlete that takes punishment every week and not be on some form of painkiller.
And he has a fucking Pepsi logo on his shoulder....... yea a real rebel he is. What a fucking twat with flabby skinny body.
Nothing worse than a skinny fat man that talks tough and does promos while sitting down as if he's in kindergarten. And he wants the same treatment and I quote as "undertaker/hhh/lesnar/rock".
Jesus talk about a self important oversized ego. Hes lucky wrestlers are so shit at talking otherwise he'd be what he would be in the attitude era. A fucking jobber.
"New stone cold" my fucking ass.
Like lil wayne calling him self the new pac.
Blood0cean oh shit hahahahahahaha savage lmao
This is the honestly the first time I have ever seen him out of character!
Apart from the teeth 😂
Lol really
Just because Vince McMahon hated vampire gimmicks, he didn't let The Brood and their popularity rise to the top. How sad. Vince Russo actually did something cool.
Yes but realistically, supernatural characters had a low glass ceiling in the WWE, even back then. The Undertaker is kind of the exception and to a lesser degree, so is Kane. Undertaker's longevity has everything to do with Mark Calaway as a worker, wrestler and entertainer and knowing how to tweak or revamp his character. Gangrel was an excellent worker but his mic work was atrocious and a vampire character just has no longevity without the ability to fully commit to it, like having him eventually try to "turn" other wrestlers and shit, which would have just been silly. No, Gangrel might have had better success in WCW or even TNA, but was little more than a flash in the pan in WWE.
Vince being the guy that created Mantaur, The Goon, Duke The Dumpster Droese, Xanta Claus, Saba Simba and WHO....
@@don2481 Fully commit? The guy got vampire teeth permanently put into his mouth. I'd call that fully committing. Also supernatural characters were definitely in during the Attitude era. Kane upon initial introduction got over big when 1st introduced and so much so that within a couple months he was the most over wrestler outside of Austin and Undertaker. The Brood was over as well. You can't say the supernatural stuff didn't get over when the WWE did so much with it back then with things like the Ministry of Darkness. They did so much stuff like that because it got over.
@@keltrepes2534 McMahon?
Dark Angel Rafael I had less to do with hating vampires and more with Gangrels mic work. Unfortunately as awesome as the gimmick was Gangrel was not very good on the mic and choked live in an in ring interview with Michael Hayes. Look up The Brood in ring interview and you’ll see why the gimmick didn’t go far.
The brood was one of the best groups of the attitude era!
The Ministry of Darkness
In my opinion, the best group of wrestling history!
I loved Gangrel. I was a kid and thought it was really cool.
Wait. What...? I WAS A KID!!!! Thats crazy, bro!
@@miked2445 stfu you pie eating son of a bitch
GRIME DEPORT TV, How far did he die
I always liked Gangrel. His Impaler DDT was a nice finisher.
Yes, one of the coolest looking DDTs! I was happy that it finally came back with Bobby Roode in a different way, but also cool!
Very humble. And I never, EVER, thought I would have to say this but thank you Russo for The Brood
When i was younger and i saw the brood i always thought gangrel was the man
You thought right!
same
Gangrel in 2020 looks fucking ripped. Glad to see he's looking healthy and doing good. Such a cool, humble, and courteous guy.
Also nobody will ever have a cooler entrance or theme.
I remember back in 99’ WWE was at the Allstate arena. Gangrel had one of the loudest cheers, you can see all the camera flashes! The entrance was definitely the best and don’t forget that song. Miss those days
A very humble guy who seemed to know that his time and use was limited. Vince, in his usual douche bag way, didn't want the Brood to succeed. When they did, Vince, in his usual douche bag way, put an end to it. Which is quite surprising because Vince had a cash cow right in front of him and instead of milking it, he slaughtered it.
Well.put
Comes across really well and genuine. Didn’t think I couldn’t be an even bigger fan of the brood than I already was...
He would be an amazing lead actor in a vampire movie as a boss
Ironic, Vince killed the Brood angle because they accidentally got over. But back in the attitude era he could afford to do that ,as damn near everyone was over, whereas now he's gotta be praying for something like that to organically happen again.
It's ironic that Vince killed the Brood decades ago, since he's basically killed the wwe today. Or if not actually killed the wwe, then at the minimum put it on life support and is administering the wwe's Last Rites.
The brood was so good at being heels that they were damn near baby faces
I remember the pop they got when they turned on the Minestry. Always thought they should've teamed with the Hardys after that. Imagine Matt&Jeff with the tag-titles, Christian with the IC title, Gangrel with the HC title, and Edge getting his world title push- can you say "New 4 Horsemen"? If not with their title, then surely they would've been the baddest ass faction at the time.
So true and a damn shame they didnt continue on!
The New Day brought me here to know Gangrel well as he great part of the attitude era wwf
He is very humble "I knew my role".
Love it. Always a Gangrel fan
This guy is still a legend in my book I'll love to meet him
I mean he actually got his teeth turned into fangs, that's dedication. Reminds me of when Earthquake got his tattoo of a shark when he became Shark in WCW, then had to get it changed when that tanked. Except Gangrel has kept the fangs, hooray!
Loved The Brood and Gangrel. Remember being so excited as a child getting the Gangrel action figure.
Everything I've ever seen or heard from people who met him at conventions say hes genuinely one of nicest people in the business hopefully I can catch him someday he seems chill af
Well, if it was up to me, i would have let Gangrel go straight to the top, to paraphrase Gangrel here....Its a shame how underused and underrated Gangrel was in the WWF and never got a major, well deserved push OR title win...
Hell yeah
BrankoP85 Guys couldn’t talk.. He cut a live promo on raw and sounded like he was reading the script really fast so he wouldn’t forget his lines. He’s a humble and awesome guy but if you can’t cut a promo you can’t get to the top in wrestling.
This remids of when my nephew who was 7 at the time ..had the ultra Tron toy , gangrel was the only action figure we couldn't find, so my aunt & uncle when on there way , town after town til they found it .
Just so my nephew can hear his song 💙 play !!! Good times
it always seemed to me that he was the guy of the stable since he had the menacing look, went the extra mile with the fangs, held the chalice and spat blood. He embodied the image of the stable. Competing in singles for ic euro and hardcore. I perceived edge and christian as the pre full fledged vampire fan boy soldiers of gangrel.
Man, the late 90s where the best time for wrestling and many other things.
Gangrel was a GREAT character! I 8sed to always love his entrance!
Glad to be hearing from Gangrel again in 2021 quite surprised he was such a funny and humble guy in real life. Till this day the Brood was probably in my memory one of thee coolest and my favorite entrance of all time other than the Undertaker Prince of Darkness aka Ministry of Darkness.
This interview is from 2021
One of WWE’s biggest missed opportunities. This guy should have been HUGE. A damn shame they wasted him like they did. Seems like a great dude too. Loved the few shoots that I’ve watched with him.
Nah, he even said he knew his role was to make edge a main player.
Everyone isn't going to be a mainevent wrestler. There has to be guys like Gangrel who understand their roles
SALUTE GANGREL, I ALWAYS THOUGHT YOU WERE THE MAIN GUY IN THE BROOD
Marx Dale well he was...THE LEADER
yeah he was my favourite of the trio. edge and christian owe alot to this guy and they admit it , he thought them the ropes.
He seems really humble.
Gangrel the name, the fangs, the blood glass, the attire one glaze & it would send chills down the spine of anyone at that time and to top it off his finisher impaler ddt gosh it looked so devastating#longlivebrood🔥
Please Come Back in the wwe
One of the most underrated wrestlers in history deserves to be in the hof
Love and respect to you, Gangrel!!!!
ALWAYS!!!!!!
One of the most humble men in Wrestling.
Always going to love Gangrel and The Brood. BLOODBATH! Also don't forget Gangrel with Luna Vachon!
The Brood still one of the best groups in wrestling. Gangrel as the leader always fit so well.
The entire act of The Brood was truly awesome...no matter how accidental it was according to Gangrel. Vince McMahon didn't like it OR the Gangel character...but Vince also knows what's good for business when it comes to what the fans like. And Vince McMahon clearly failed on keeping the Brood around.
You mean that Vince USED to know/care about what fans wanted. Not so much now days.
Im here bcoz edge brings back the brood gimmick much respect to one of the great gangrel
Dream Match. Brood vs Wyatt Family !!!!
Gangrel seems like a really down to earth nice guy
One of the best intros ever.
I want the brood reunite again just one night weather it survivir series wretlemania whatever it is i want to see them again. 🙏
It will never happen kid
When I was kid, him and undertaker gave me nightmare for years. I miss the ministry of darkness.
I thought legit he was drinking blood and spitting it everywhere before he entered the ring. I was like “where does he buy blood from?”
Gangrel is a cool dude. I really enjoy his interviews.
رد
Great with undertaker talk
I liked gangrel, he added like a cool atmosphere and interesting mysterious character. He could have been a really awesome heel.
Seems like a really cool guy
This guy caught my imagination got me excited when the the music came on had an awesome gimmick everything about them was great entertainment and that's what it's all about im glad I grew up watching it
Vince Russo is a smart man then, Dang i miss these guys and their cool Intro song.
As a kid, I thought legit Gangrel, Luna, and the brood we're vampires. I had older brothers born in the 80s and grew up watching lost boys and other cool vampire movies. Great memories. 😎
My favorite wrestler
So what did we learn folks? Russo was the creator of the brood, had it not been for him...gangrel and the brood would have never happened.
There You Go wrong white wolf made gangrel.
Fenrir I'm saying the brood gimmick would have never happened without russo. Vince mcmahon would have never used gangrel if it had not been for Russo either...
There You Go the name and gimmick came from a role playing game by white wolf inc and eventually would of been used one way or another
Fenrir dude, I don't care where his gimmick came from. All I'm saying is gangrel would never have became as popular and mysterious without the brood and without Vince russo. Gangrel even says so himself in this video.
There You Go regardless he was garbage as a wrestler
Nice fangs!!!
I loved gangrel and the brood I think they could have done a lot more with them.
I remember him hitting a shattered dreams from goldust.
Gangrel rules! He’s one of my nephew’s trainers. Awesome guy.
The Brood stand 4 ever ✊
That would a dream match gangrel vs the fiend
Awesome beat
I had no idea how humble and down to earth Gangrel is. Great attitude, team player, humble, hard working. What else do you want in a professional wrestler?
The weird thing is that no one imagining a vampire would probably think of David.......but in a weird way he looks like a totally different type of vampire in a really cool way.
Zero ego with this guy!!
Still my favourite ring entrance
gangrel is the best when i watch old school wrestling
Kudos on him for not being bitter
I think a big reason of Gangrel being cast aside is actually in his name. Remember when you'd play old WWF games and see the copyright/trademark screens and notice that Gangrel was actually owned by White Wolf? I'm guessing that name itself was a kiss of death in its own way because Vince likely wasn't too fond of having to pay any sort of royalty or whatever the deal was.
Makes sense, along with the fact that it took YEARS to finally get sorted out and now he owns the name
Gangrel is still a great wrestler on the west coast
Too cool. Best entrance .
Did u catch that? Edge was suppose to be an Adien English / Elias character?
Greatest entrance ever...
Serious question, why were Edge & Gangrel feuding in the beginning?
seems like a good sport
Still rocking with those vampire teeth
The brood was one of the best groups from the era spooky as heck and best entrance. Glad Russo got them the air time they was a great edition to the era.
I still have a Gangrel poster in my weight room. He’s my boy
I would have loved to see Gangrel come back and team with Kevin Thorn and Ariel.
Gangrel for Hall Of Fame 2022 Book It Vince!!!
As a 3 year old, I cried and ran to my mom when I first the brood's entrance.
He was underrated tbh.
Gangrel🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Once Taker went biker, Gangrel and Kane could've joined up to still bring that dark factor in the early 2000s. Gangrel should've had a longer run. He's underrated.
Them: who’s your favorite vampire ?
Me an intellectual: gangrel baby
Thats really his teeth.
Best entrance in WWE history, and just a brilliant character...no surprise really that Vince didn't have anything to do with it.
gangrel seems like such a nice person
The Brood 2018! 🤟🏻
Love Gangrel 👍
I m big fan of gangrel
If they ever make another"Fright Night" (a good one), they should cast gangrel as the main vampire!!
Gangrel is the real deal. You can tell he is a good guy. He never get the push he deserved
DAMN GANGREL REALLY A VAMPIRE 🧛🏻
