You inspired me to put my plants on poles. Now my fiance is into my plants because he wants to see them size up. HE asked ME if I wanted to go plant shopping so we can find some new plants for the poles. Needless to say, thanks! LOL
Once again you’ve inspired me to run a few more up a few poles! I actually have my Memaws 50 year old golden pothos and I believe she has earned her spot for one aswell! It’s the most basic but the most sentimental of my whole collection! I definitely think she deserves to finally size up her leaves! Also I have a Epi albo that one vine will give me more green and the other vine will give me more white variegation on it but it IS from the same plant also! I love the fact you include your thoughts on the genetics In the plants variegation! Such a good point that even though they are the same species we can not always expect the same genetic variegation and you never know what your plant will look like! Loved this video as always girl! 🫶🏼☺️🪴
Thank you!! I appreciate that! ☺️ Yes!! You have to do the golden pothos! That's my next moss pole too! Those leaves will be incredible once they grow larger and having it be a special plant will make it even more incredible! 🫶
I remember watching one of your DIY moss pole videos maybe about a year ago! I think that might be how I found your channel! 🥰 Your plants look so clean and healthy. They’re loving the poles!!
I love to see you with the cats. Your love for them. I have 4 babies (dogs) and 2 Black cats. One cat is 20 years old and doing great. We call her momma. We thought she was a boy when we got her. She gave us babies long ago. Long hair black cat. Beautiful cats. I love them too. You inspired me to get a Mican 2 weeks ago. I put on a pol. Small but just beautiful.
I have such a huge heart for animals! I probably would have done something with them if I didn't go to nursing school before I knew about plants haha. They are so special!! I'm glad your 20 year old is doing great, that is amazing! and congrats on your micans pole! ☺️
Amazing collection. Unfortunately I've had some root rot with my soil plants on moss poles because the moss needs more water than soil and I don't know how to overcome that. But my plants in pon are doing great on moss poles. I love all of your plants.
Thank you!! Glad the plants in pon are doing well and sorry about some of the moss poles getting rot :( The chunkier the mix for them the better! I used to use more soil and some got rot. Once they start rooting into the moss they don't need the soil roots that much. So having a mix that is reallyyy aerated will help prevent rot :)
Thanks so much for showing us all of your moss poles. You have a beautiful collection and it really shows that you love being a plant parent! I just hope my current poles ( no where near 37 😬) start sizing up as the weather gets warmer and YESSSSS you have inspired me to make some more for the 5 or philos that are gonna need the support! Always a pleasure watching your videos. Can't wait for the next one 👏🏼🥰
Thank you Connie!! ☺️ It was a lot of fun to do this video and it surprised me by how many I have lol. Good luck with your new poles you make! I know I'll probably add more too haha
Ahhh!!!! Love this video so much! Melissa you are killing it with the poles! I can’t make this up today is my kiddos first day back at school and I’m on my kitchen floor making my first miss pole for my dubia I’m so nervous lol! The first fenestrate leaf so wish me luck ahha ❤❤❤❤
Melissa can you do a video on what plant lights you have and where they are situated to give the plant the most effective light. Always enjoy your content and i adore the 3 kitties . Watching from Sydney Australia Thank you
If you cut the manjula, you should def try to select the nodes from the right side so the variegation will come from those nodes and not the green side! Maybe that will work! ❤
After watching this, I think I will prop some cuttings from my marble queen or manjula and put them on a pole. They definitely deserve to showcase some larger leaves! I’ll have to look through your video play list for the best way to start a moss pole. I have a philo Brazil on a old fence post along with a neon pothos also on a smaller old fence board and they love it. They don’t attach as easily and Brazil doesn’t really size up leaves anyway, but they are both started from inexpensive full hanging baskets and look amazing vining up (have to assist the attachment with plant Velcro). I’d be interested to see a scindapsus on a moss pole…I may try with my exotica because when I had a trubii moonlight, it loved climbing and attaching to everything!
My pearls and jade have leaves just like yours with both types. I find that if there are any leaves at all with speckles, then it’s p&j. An Njoy won’t have ANY speckled leaves at all. That’s how I can tell the difference! ❤
I'm slowly putting some plants on poles because I am a little lazy about keeping the poles moist, but you're inspiring me to go for it. Beautiful plants. And my silver sword has that same yellowing on a few leaves. At least someone else is finding that too. I think she's getting a pole too. Great video
Thank you!! It's hard to keep them all moist. My go dry all the time and they do fine. Sometimes they even get droopy...oops 😬 Pick some of your favs but definitely don't overwhelm yourself! You can always do more down the road :)
I love this video! You were my inspiration to start putting plants on moss poles - I have only done two so far but I'm going to do my Glorius and Adansonii this week. Gimme alllll the big beautiful leaves!
aww thank you for saying that!! 🥺 I am so happy you love them! The bigger leaves are amazing and honestly just such a joy!! Good luck with your glorious and adansonii! ☺️
I'm in HOng Kong in tropics region but certainly enjoy watching yr videos, enjoy to see so successful and estonish though yr climate so difficult but enthusiastic in growing tropical plants but I'm in tropical area not so successful 😅
Stunning! Well done. Like you, I love the Marble Queen but mine is minuscule compared to yours. Can’t wait to see if she sizes up eventually. Thanks again. Loved the video. 😊
What an inspo to have all these climbers! Have you experimented with any of your anthuriums on poles? I figure that top dressing is essentially a very lazy moss pole 😆and I currently have my anthurium balaoanum and veitchii on poles
This is probably a silly question...but I know you water your poles through top twice a week. One is light and other is more thorough. Do you ever water the soil or does water happen only through the pole? Thank you so much. You've inspired me!
Thank you! Sometimes I water the soil of the thiccly poles but it depends. The moss poles along my wall I tend to water better but if someone gets a little dry and the soil is dry I'll go ahead and water both.
Very impressive and just beautiful! I’m a little scared to start with moss poles cause I can’t figure out or understand how to water the poles without overwatering the soil in the pot. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you!! It takes a little time to get used to a routine with them and everyone is different! I had no idea what I was doing in the beginning and you'll make mistakes and learn from that. You can't really understand until you go through the process with them but definitely recommend to start with a epipremnum or pothos! they climb so well and are forgiving. If your soil mix is very chunky you don't risk overwatering them!

@plantsbymelissa what do you mean when you say 'runners'? Btw I'm sure plenty of people have said this to you but thank you for inspiring me to purchase moss poles, well I've started with the thicleys poles which I like because they tend to hold moisture in a bit more than the plastic chicken wire and living in Florida I need all the moisture that the poles can hold so thank you for the inspiration
Yay! Thank you 🥹 I'm glad you are enjoying moss poles! Runners are basically a long vine with nodes but no leaves. The plant tends to do this when it doesn't have any climbing support or it is stretching to reach more light. Some plants do this more than others but I tend to cut them off 🙈
Just wanted to say I love your channel. Very informative and relaxing. Btw, as soon as I watched your first video, I had a feeling you were/are a nurse. I’m a nurse too, well an NP now, but still. Anyway, just wanted to say hello and tell you how much I enjoy your videos! I am biding my time until my clarinervium flowers so I can pollinate etc. (This is my son’s UA-cam account so ignore the name lol). Best! Emily
Thank you! I don't travel for very long. I haven't been on a long trip since pre-pandemic. The most I was gone was about 4 days and they did okay. I just watered them really well before I left. If I leave for longer I am not sure! lol
All of your plants are so pretty. I don't have any moss poles. I don't think I could cut mine when it got too tall for the pole. I would be afraid they wouldn't root and just die. :(

That's quite the pole collection. I'm always surprised as to how small the pot size is for some of those 5'+ moss poles. I'm guessing you have no issues with them tipping over too much?
Thank you!! Not usually! Once I go to chop them in half, the top part that goes into the soil doesn't have any roots so I usually stick with a 6 inch for stability once I add an extension. When more roots grow into the soil it stabilizes it better!
Hi 🌿 I'm new to your content and plants (kinda) but I have a question/suggestion. What about giving iron chelate to the plants shooting all white leaves ? Wouldn't it promote green growth? Idk now I gotta research lol
Hi! Welcome!! I haven't heard about iron chelate so not sure about that! I need to research that too lol. I have heard of silica recently but haven't looked into that yet :)
Note to self: keep the poles moist. I have very flimsy poles. I cant find the wire you have nor thiccly poles. Mine are diy. But i guess it does the trick.
Most are in a 6 inch pot. I love the repot me brand :) Some are in 4 inch and 5 inch though. I'll link them here! www.amazon.com/dp/B004IRBZX2?linkCode=ssc&tag=onamzmeli0992-20&creativeASIN=B004IRBZX2&asc_item-id=amzn1.ideas.2Q7LRSOZIGHH7&ref_=aip_sf_list_spv_ofs_mixed_d_asin&th=1

Can you tell me where i can by the plastic moss poll units to make my own polls. You have inspired me to get back into my plants. Im so excited. I cant wait to make these moss poles. Thanking you in advance.
Thank you so much! They're @growthiccly grow poles, you can get them on amazon. I'll link them here for you :) www.amazon.com/dp/B0B2JVYV1G?linkCode=ssc&tag=onamzmeli0992-20&creativeASIN=B0BQR6GVB3&asc_item-id=amzn1.ideas.27D4Z5CKST4WL&ref_=aip_sf_list_spv_ofs_mixed_d_asin&th=1
I have a marble queen on a wood plank. I need some guidance on what to do with it. Do you communicate with followers on Instagram? Like, if I was to send you a few photos/video of it, maybe you could tell me what my next steps would be?
I don't do 1:1 plant help unfortunately 😔 I get so many messages and it gets overwhelming for me in DM's sometimes. I can't help everyone even though I wished I could. If I got paid by meta then I would be able to dedicate more time answering messages but instagram doesn't pay me anything. UA-cam is my main source of income and time with filming and editing videos. I could spend hours a day answering dm's and only get through a small amount plus I answer my insta subscriber and patreon messages almost daily, not to mention comments on all the different platforms. So I have to set limits for myself because I need time off social media too 🫶
You inspired me to put my plants on poles. Now my fiance is into my plants because he wants to see them size up. HE asked ME if I wanted to go plant shopping so we can find some new plants for the poles. Needless to say, thanks! LOL
That is awesome!! yay! I loveee that for you! 🥰 Happy plant shopping!!
I like how much you enjoy the marble queen. Just goes to show how a common plant can become a favorite :)
I love when you post in the morning.. I watch/listen while I’m cleaning and doing my own plant chores..you have actually taught me a lot..thank you!❤
You are so welcome! Thank you for watching! 🥰
I have seen several moss pole collections in your lovable show.
Great video! It’s super helpful to know which ones size up on a pole and which ones don’t necessarily need it.
Yay! Glad it was helpful! Thank you!! 🥰
I'm re-igniting a 35-year passion and slowly building my collection of plants. If my moss poles look like yours, I'll be happy 😊
Thank you so much! 🥺 I'm happy you are finding joy in collecting plants again! They truly are amazing! 🥰
You have such a beautiful calm energy, love all your plants as well-you’re doing such an amazing job with them !
It's amazing how small the world has become . On the other side of the Earth I have these same plants growing ! In the village of Natukhai 😊
I really enjoyed learning about your plants on the moss pole, please show where you get your supplies, where to buy them that would be nice!

Hi Melissa you can be very proud of these plants, they r loving the moss poles‼️
💚🌱☘️🌵💚

Holy moly. The Adansonii and Cebu blue! 🤩 yeah you are a moss pole queen for sure. Very inspiring!!! 👏👏👏

Thank you, Melissa🙏for doing this vid I asked for. You rock, my dear!🎸
You're welcome!! I really enjoyed this one! Thanks for suggesting it!!
There is this one plant that catches my heart over and over; Florida Beauty🤤 Still the ultimate on top of my wishlist! Hoping I get one, one day!🤞
Hoping you can get one soon!! They are so pretty!! 🥰
I also had those white little spots and stripes in my Global Green pothos so maybe it's something left over parentage thing..
You need a epipremnum giganteum variegated. The leaves get huge and beautiful.
Yay!!! Happy Monday :)
Happy Monday!! 🥰
Awesome collection 👌 😎
I'm in HOng Kong in tropics region but certainly enjoy watching yr videos, enjoy to see so successful and estonish though yr climate so difficult but enthusiastic in growing tropical plants but I'm in tropical area not so successful 😅
The Obliqua is my very favorite 😍
They're such cool plants!! 💗
Stunning! Well done. Like you, I love the Marble Queen but mine is minuscule compared to yours. Can’t wait to see if she sizes up eventually. Thanks again. Loved the video. 😊
Thank you! 😊 I hope she sizes up for you soon!!
Truly inspiring 💛
Thank you for this enjoyable video! If we are just starting out with thiccly moss poles, which size would you recommend buying first? Thanks!
Just found your channel today wow! Stunning plants on poles. What do you feed them??
Love your plant room😊
Thank you so much! I love this little plant space 🥺💗
My manjula is a slow grower. I have seen video of some bountiful ones that are trailing. I have not seen any where the leaves size up.
Said it before, but damn! Those plants are just as perfect as your brows. 🎉
Thank you!! 🥺🫶

Amazing collection! Just curious how do you manage the watering (specially for the poles) when you are travelling?

how come u dont have regular monstera deliciosa? what kind of moss pole would you suggest for it?
WOW!! 😍
gorgeous 😍

ALL THE PLANTS YOU DONT WANT, I DI WANT JAJAJA IM A PLANT PARENT AND IM IN LOVE WITH ALL THE YOUR PLANTS❤😂

@@plantsbymelissa it’s always so impressive how big the plants are with small pots:) I like it!
Just curious how many hours a day do you have lights on your pole plants and is that year round?
Yes! year round :) Right now it's 10 hours but I might go to 12 hours during winter.
😮 that micans
How do you avoid mold in the moss poles
Can you do an alocasia collection video ❤
i am going to try a 8 meter long stuffed meat net stocking and drip irrigation😬
I have the monitor plant I water it once a week and I have a lot of yellowing leaves it’s in trouble u r not showing where u get the moss poles from and how to put the plant into the pole help me pls😂

Thank you for letting me know! I'm still working on it but I think it sounds better and louder. Appreciate it!!
My brain just cannot wrap around the fact that these just casually live in your home 🤯
What's the difference between epipremnum pinnatum albo vs epipremnum pinnatum variegated? I think I have one but I'm getting mixed guesses.
I know the albo to be more of the white variegation than the yellow like an aurea but not sure if the variegated can be used interchangeable with an "albo" 🙈

I wonder if a philodendron Brazil would grow on a moss pole? Has anyone done it?
Can you tell me where i can by the plastic moss poll units to make my own polls. You have inspired me to get back into my plants. Im so excited. I cant wait to make these moss poles. Thanking you in advance.
