.. 🌿 First time I was here, was when you had your IKEA mini greenhouse put together.. I picked up a few ideas, so I bought two.. And then I just had to come back.. Even though I grew up surrounded with plants, there's always something to learn from others or to just get some new ideas.. And your channel have become one of my absolute favorites.. So thank you so very much, for every minute you spend making these videos for all of us out here.. It is very much appreciated 🤗☘️
I’m so glad I found your UA-cam 🥰 I have always had a love for plants but never felt like I could do it. I’m a beginner and the way you explain plant care makes me fall in love with plants more 🌿🌱🪴
Aw yay! 🥹 thank you so much! That’s such a nice thing to say! This is exactly what I hope my videos are for someone 🙏🏼 I learned so much myself from UA-cam when I was a beginner and it makes me so happy to share and to help others 🥹
Thank you!! Happy to share what has been working for me! It’s still a learning process and I’m sure I’ll make more changes as I go but it’s been so nice watching them grow for me 🥰
I love watching your videos. I am learning a lot from you - planning to start making moss poles this weekend! Thank you so much for real educational videos.
That gives me happiness to watching and looking for all the new growth and the leaves. I love your videos. I watch a lot of yours. You're so informational I learn so much from you. So much from you. You're so down to earth, so real and I really appreciate all the time you give to your followers. Thank you Alyssa. Your number one on my list! I grow the most antariums but also allocacias. I grow the most amperiums but also alocasia's.
I watched all of it, but I don't do emoji's... Lol. I water all of my moss poles in place. All of my plants are in a tray or cash pot, so the excess water is captured. Your method does seem cumbersome, but as you said, you live and learn. Keep those plants healthy! Cheers.
Thank you so much! I actually discovered a new way of watering I’ll have to do an update video soon. It’s not my idea but I shared it on my Instagram recently using a watering globe on top. I find it much easier. Congrats on making your first pole!! 🙌🏼 they’re more work but it’s so worth it 🥰
🪴Ty!!! I love love love your content. I will be trying to build my first moss pole when my daughter comes home for Christmas. I’m ready now that I watch your video. Ty again Melissa. 🫶🏼
Love your video. Really like the tip on how to water the moss poles. I’m currently adding moss poles to my plant collection. Your collection is fabulous. Looking forward to your next one 💚🌿
Great moss pole video! I’m new to this so I’ve learned a lot today. I ordered a moss pole and I’ll be potting my Satin Pothos on it. Thanks for the watering tips 🪴🌱
you can put small holes on your water bottle cover so that the water will slowly drip from the bottles. that way you won’t need to mist your poles anymore. hope it helps.
You do such a great job explaining. Hoping to take the leap soon and create a moss pole. I have a beautiful big trailing Micans that needs to be potted up so thinking of separating out some well rooted pieces to put on the pole.
You’re welcome! They take work to keep the pole moist but other than that they do the work themselves pretty much! My environment dries them fast. I started using grow thiccly plastic poles recently and I like them! It stays moist a day or 2 longer in my space. I haven’t used them long term yet but so far so good 😊
a much easier way to do this is to use drip spikes, it just screws onto the water bottle like a lid, but has a spike that allows a small drip, just fill water bottle add spike-lid, invert into moss pole and it slowly drips, so super easy no mess no need to move plants available to buy on amazon much easier to use...
SUperiorr🥰🥰I didn't understand Can I use the bottle time to time to maintain the poles moist or I need to have them to dry out and then to repeat this procedure )))
Great info! Thank for your knowledge and time spent making this informative video! I live in Arizona so my moss poles dry out very quickly, i.e no humidity! I've thought of adding some perlite and coco chips to the moss. What is your take on this idea? Sure would appreciate any pros or cons! Ty 💜🌱
Thank you! I appreciate that! I made a pole watering update video recently too. I never though about adding stuff to the moss before! Mine dry out so fast too but I try to do my best with them. I think as long as the roots can grow inside it would work. I would use perlite and coco chips that were a little bigger and maybe still have a good portion of it still be moss. If I try it I'll film it! :)
Thank you for all that you do to keep us informed on suggestions and tips about caring for our moss poles .. just to let you know.. I watched this video around 4:10 am. Goes to show you ... I had moss poles on my mind, LOL 🌿🪴🌱🌿🐈💚
Thank you! I recently did an updated pole watering video but you definitely don’t have to. Sometimes it’s easier to water from the top so the moss gets more thoroughly saturated ☺️
Thank you for the info, very helpful!! 😊 Next pole I’m making has got to be metal! I’m tired of the flimsy plastic, super wobbly even with the support sticks 🌿
Hi Melissa, I watch you all the time and love your videos, you do a great job! I wanted to ask you what exactly are the pins you use to pin the pant on the pole? TIA
Hello, I’ve had a few moss poles growing for over a year now. I love them. It’s been a game changer. Took me a bit to get the hang of it and one of my plants (Monstera Deliciosa) is just so huge for the moss pole anyway to keep it upright, so I always have a challenge moving it around when I need to take it to the shower for a good rinse off. Haha. I was using larger 1 liter bottles for my larger poles it they became too cumbersome, so I just use my 500mL Fiji water bottles. They work amazing. I also keep the cap and drill 3 holes into them so when I flip my bottle on top I don’t have a bunch of water going everywhere (still some but not as much if I didnt have a cap) and I just let gravity do its thing. Anyway, out of curiosity why do you use tap water instead of filtered water to water your plants?
Hi, thx 4 the tips. I would put my plants in the tub or put a shower curtain behind the plants and big tub with all my plants in it. So there is no water on the wall or the floor.
Sure! Thank you! It’s a big bag of about 600 :) www.amazon.com/dp/B075Z7S9H5?tag=onamzmeli0992-20&linkCode=ssc&creativeASIN=B075Z7S9H5&asc_item-id=amzn1.ideas.27D4Z5CKST4WL
Nice one Queen of moss pole 👏🏻👏🏻 Better underwater than overwater. Can’t wait to see them grows into big leaves. Then how do you deal with when those leaves reach to the top 😁 Cheers!
Thank you! I chopped my adansonii pole recently on my channel. I have a new way of watering now that’s a time saver! I use watering globes. I’ll have to make an update video! 😁
Hi, I keep looking for a video showing how to add an extension on top of an existing pole. And i’ve seen the ones where you chop the plant but none that are just adding an extension without repotting. do you have one of these? if not, can you explain how you do it? i’m curious if there’s a significant amount of overlap of the wire, or if it just sits on top of the existing one.
Hi I’m new to moss poles and I’m just a bit confused about wether you only water the plant when you water the pole or do you water the soil aswell when it needs it? And do you only water the poles once a week? 😊

Just made my moss pole today, I was looking for some tips , your video is the best I found on watering !!!!
My only concern is that I made my pole with coconut fiber and moss on the outside, I will have to water much more

Thank you so much! You’ll love having one climb! It became one of my favorite plants very quickly as it grew bigger leaves! 😊
You should save yourself the labor and just buy a large clear 10 gallon 20 gallon bin to set them in while you water the polls
Thanks, thinking about making some ☘️🌿🍃🌱🌳🌵🪴🎋🌾
Thanks for sharing your moss pole journey 🪴

Nice! Thank you! 🥰 I saw some huge golden pothos on a plant at my hardware stores and they looked amazing!! Hoping it grows well for you! 🙏🏼
I plan on using pcp pipe with jute wapped around it
Melissa, I don’t have any moss poles but I found this very interesting. Just in case I find the need for a pole. 🌳

They have grown so much in the last 12mths 😮
Hi, thx 4 the tips. I would put my plants in the tub or put a shower curtain behind the plants and big tub with all my plants in it. So there is no water on the wall or the floor.
How often do you fertilize?
I have a plant that has root rot. Can the plant be watered with a fungicide until it recovers, or should the soil be replaced?
Can you please throw up a link to the pins you use? Thanks for the great video!
Sure! Thank you! It’s a big bag of about 600 :)

Yes, I have a moss pole playlist my adansonii I added an extension on without chopping :)
@@plantsbymelissa The only one I can see is where it was chopped and a metal pole wrapped around the plastic pole it was originally on.
I'm gonna try your method 👍your micans looks like a melanochrysum it's mad !
Thank you! It’s definitely sizing up so well! Going to start trailing the top vines back down soon so I’ll see what happens with it 🤞🏼
Thank you for all the info.
Off topic .. I love love your shower curtain ! Where did it come from please? 😊 Thank you. 🪴
Aw thank you!! I got it at target in store probably a couple months ago! It’s from the opal house line ☺️
@@plantsbymelissa I should have known it was Target lol..they have the best stuff. Thanks 😊
Good job on this video! 🪴

What are those metal U shaped things you use to attached the stems to the pole?
they're called greening pins! I have them linked on my amazon under the moss pole supply section - it should be linked in the description!
So many poles 😍😍😍
😂😂 yes! excited to see the growth I get this year!

I had the same question
🌿Love your videos 🌵
Thank you! 🙏🏼💚
You add fertilizer every time you water? I also started using liquid dirt and want to be sure I'm not over doing it. Thank you!
I started adding slow release to a lot of mine but sometimes I still add liquidirt in between!
@@plantsbymelissa Thank you so much for the info! 😊
Very informative, thank you! (insert plant emoji :) )
Thank you, but can you please give tips on watering poles when you do not want to water the soil?
Plz tell me, What kind of Fertilizer did you use
I've transitioned to slow release fertilizer - osmocote plus. I may have been using liquidirt here but I'm not using it anymore :)
Do the poles smell?
Moss poles look cool, but seem labor intensive to maintain...or I could just be a lazy fart.🤣 Either way, yours are as lovely as you are, and thanks for sharing some of your space with us.🪷🎄⚘️
Love your fangs❤
How do you make the moss poles?thank you.
Hi, check my moss pole playlist! I have a tutorial on there but I use wire now instead of plastic but it’s the same process 😊
Watering this way will not bring gnats?
You should watch the videos with moss poles from the sydneyplantguy 😊
I know of him from insta but thank you :)
damn your eyebrows are PERFECT
Will watering your moss poles mean you’re overwatering? Im worried about root rot
Not necessarily it’s important to have a chunky mix in case too much water sits in the soil. I always dump out my drip trays or cache pots if I accidentally give to much. As long as your mix and super chunky it will allow for excess water to drain straight through ☺️
How do you keep your plants with really tall mosspoles stable? I just extended my mosspole and the plant feels very wobbly now (not the actual mosspole, that feels pretty sturdy) and I'm scared the whole plant is going to fall over.
is your pole wire or plastic? plastic is very wobbly and why I switched to metal. I don't understand what you mean by the plant feeling wobbly but not the pole?
@@plantsbymelissa sorry, I just noticed I commented on two videos about this haha. But I just mean that the pole itself doesn't feel weak, it's just that the pot is probably too small for all the weight of the pole, so the entire pot (and therefore the plant) wants to fall over
What size are your metal poles?
I make them 15 squares around and the height is 3 feet depending on the size of the hardware cloth you buy ☺️
🌻
😊
