    Thanks again for a great video. The el choco red is so pretty. I’ve been growing a splendid, a Manjula and a monstera siltepicana el Salvador on moss poles since March this year. They’re both going well despite me stupidly measuring the nutrient solution incorrectly and severely under dosing them which I only discovered yesterday🤦‍♀️ The El Salvador has almost reached the top of the first pole the splendid is getting bigger leaves (so exciting) and the manjula is just living..not much happening there.

    My favorite of the ten for beauty is tied between the manjula's variegation and the velvety melano. Can't choose just one, as I've got both just starting on moss poles myself, with dreams of looking as fabulous as yours! Although, with as many other moss poles I've also got going here, im starting to realize the hard choices between plants and furniture that will ensue in the future 😹

    Hi Jan, I agree you don't need a moss pole to grow a M. Deliciosa. However, here's my case for your type of moss poles:
    I started watching you and Lee from Kill This Plant when I decided to grow a seedling Monstera Deliciosa indoors for the first time and wanted to learn about indoor growing conditions.
    1. The aerial roots can look more tidy inside a moss pole.
    2. M. Deliciosa need huge pots. A moss pole allows me to grow in a smaller pot. This is very convenient if you have a small space.
    3. The chop and extend process seems easier with a moss pole than with a cedar plank. I actually haven't gotten there yet, as I've just put my baby Deliciosa on its first moss pole, but I'm looking forward to that day.
    Thanks for all your inspiration. Looking forward to the next time you take us on a green tour around Sidney ❤

    Have you tried keiki paste on your empty nodes? It works so well on the pothos. If you put some on the manjula, in a few days, it will have activated nodes.

    • @sydneyplantguy
      @sydneyplantguy  Рік тому

      I haven’t tried but I heard it’s good to activate new nodes but they won’t actually grow leaves unless u cut them from the makn plant, so I’ll just cut them :)

    • @shermich90
      @shermich90 Рік тому

      @@sydneyplantguyi tried it on a marble queen that has a long stem with no leaves. It activated all the nodes. 😅 some nodes grew the branches immediately and some took time do so. But definitely did grow branches even if the apical leaf is still attached.

      Less surface area = room for more plants hehe :) so far haven’t had stability issues :)

    i have a anthurium silver blush in a pot with a moss pole, but she is not connecting to the pole. Does she not like poles or what do i need to do? Any suggestions?

    Do you start with only one plant in your pot? I bought a small philo and there are 2 to 3 plants in the pot. Should I separate them and plant 1 plant in 1 pot?

    Mine will not stay upright 😔 tried potting into terracotta, or into plastic and then placing that in a cover pot. They still fall. USA-based, can't get pots as nice as Jans! Anyone in the USA figured out a potting situation that works?

    For your large plants hoe many bottles do u use to get ur moss poles wet

    • @sydneyplantguy
      @sydneyplantguy  Рік тому

      Depends on how dry the pole was :) i never let it dry out fully which means usually 1 bottle is enough

    Are your thoughts of putting philodendron majestic and philodendron verrucosum on the same moss pole ?

      totally personal preference but the verru grows with much larger internodal spacing so the verru would outgrow the majestic within a season or so.
