Gentcreate Waterproof Retro Backpack is the second bag from Gentcreate that we've reviewed so if you dig something retro like this, then today's your lucky day.
This 23-liter pack has this classy leather accents, waxed canvas, and buckles. Indeed committed to look retro/vintage. While they claim that this pack is waterproof, we can only say that it is water-resistant.
The pack can be considered as an EDC although it might be an overkill for you since it's on the bulky side and if you don't carry lots of gear on a daily basis. This pack is quite comfortable as it has a decent amount of padding on the shoulder straps. Although accessibility issues might arise since this pack is a top-loader, this is relatively cheaper as compared to the other retro/vintage packs in the market.

Agree with not feeling the logo, the bag says adventurer, exploring the world but the logo says business man in a suit, just a cog in the machine. lol

Pacific Crest offers one exactly the same as this for like $99 flat. Exactly the same. The magnetic strap anchors are ridiculous, slightest nudge and they pop open.

China, I believe. I've seen more than one company selling them, or a look a like. If or when I decide to purchase one, it’ll be the one with the canvas flap!

Have this style in a duffel: VERY solid and butch .... like traveling anywhere with it in hand or on shoulder ...the backpack, however, is too young for me

Hi, I really enjoyed the video. Other than the sewing, I must admit that I am impressed with that pack, so I went to their web site and saw that they make the same backpack with a canvas flap, that I couldn’t see any logo on it. (No logo, one less con, right?) However, I would like to know if you know where that pack is made? It wouldn’t surprise me if it is made in China.

Im finding it is harder to find a reputable brand for this kind of bag than I thought
Unfortunately I can’t help - these bags seem to be very out of style right now, so not many reputable brands making them
If I am at a gas station in the middle of the desert, and I have gold bars in my bag. When I pay for the zippo fluid it will be with gold nuggets not coins.

(Basically i only use the magnets for the small pockets and only the old fashion way on the main compartment)
Someday i might sew my own inner without any annoying pockets that just get in the bloody way.
All in all i have a feeling its a lot less durable than it looks. I have two seams that are coming out and thats seperate from the exposed seams where i tore out the inner. It is NOT a premium product (largely due to the unreliable stitching).
But the actual materials do feel sturdy and I find something rewarding about modifying it more to my liking so i actually dont regret my purchase. (And I am one of those people who find it quite pretty).
It gives me a reason to use my nifty Speedy Stitcher sewing awl 👍
Oh and the stitching in the drawstring leather thing came out and I had to fix it myself (speedy stitcher to the resque again).
