In this video, you'll see my create my art poetry painting with a watercolour base, and I will be taking on the challenge of mark making before the painting is dry. this is a great way to explore water soluble mixed media supplies. - Навчання та стиль
Love your style so much! I'm a beginner and this has got my attention big time. I'm 70 with a huge stash of supplies,,,time to begin creating instead of collecting!! What a poem in motion here!!
I too am also a beginner. I have to put on the brakes for purchasing all the lovely products.
Glad I’m not the only one ! 😂🤗🤭
I also recently turned 70….so snap !
All the best to you 🤗
Hi Allison and welcome to the wonderful world of UA-cam Watercolor!!! I see you’re from Alberta - we lived in Calgary and Canmore for many years so I sympathise about the icy roads you mention in one of your Instagram posts :) Lovely to see a new face in this community, best of luck with your channel! Take care, Diane x
Alberta is currently dealing with forest fires and it’s very smoky all over Alberta. It’s a good time to spend creating indoors! 🇨🇦
thanks for such a nice note Diane. yes- the winters can be tough here can’t they?! i appreciate the welcome and connecting .
Diane! so grateful to have discovered you on here and can't wait to learn from you and watch your videos. Are you still in Canada ? xx
This is wonderful! Thank you for sharing.
You are so welcome!
Allison! I'm thrilled to have found you. I adore abstracts be in alcohol inks or watercolors. You are a wonderful inspiration, and this piece is gorgeous. Thank you. I hope you are able to list the watercolor set you've used. 🥰💖 🎨
thanks Liz. I'll do an art supply video sometime in the near future. this one is from theoceanpaper.com and I love Kuretake and Daniel smith watercolours
@@allisondawrant I would love a listing of all those mark making supplies you use in this video. Awesome video.
You make the most beautiful paintings I've ever seen! I love the incorporation of the deep golden sun, birds and hearts, and the bright colors! So pretty 🥰
Thank you so much 😀
Thank you!
So many great elements in this piece! I love how your videos make me feel like I am in the room with you while you teach away. No editing needed! Love the authenticity and how your pure joy at creating and your generosity of spirit to share these tips shines through. 💗
aw, this comment made my day . Thank you for taking the time to say this. I appreciate you.
Your style is very “freeing.” I like how you focus on which colors to use and then just let the watercolor flow…and then add interest with mark-making. Thank you so much for sharing your creative process. The process itself and the end product - it’s all beautiful! Side note just if you ever are looking for an artistic kindred spirit: Watching you makes me think you would enjoy Betty Franks’s art. She’s an acrylic artist who paints abstract art based upon fields of flowers. Mark-making and intuitive creation are at the heart of what she makes, as well. Another thing the 2 of you have in common - you both have a very calming on-camera presence and seem like lovely human beings. Hope your day is great, and thank you again for sharing these videos!
Hi! I love recommendations and I actually have taken Betty Krause's "Saturdays with Betty" courses on zoom. I also purchased her "Fields of Flowers" book. I adore her and her work. thanks for your insights:)
Allison, I just discovered you a few days ago and I'm so happy I did! I absolutely love this painting - it really makes me smile. I'll be 80 next year and all of this is new to me; I know it's not as easy as you make it look, but I'm excited to try. Can you let us know what paper pad you're using, asnce you indicated it wasn't cotton, which is a bit pricey for me. I can't wait to see more videos!
Hello! Canson XL watercolour or mixed media paper , 140 lbs, is great.
love the style and colors! Thank you for sharing!
thanks for saying this.
Your work is so lovely and free - true poetry indeed :).
thankyou
Alison! Thank you so much for sharing your story. We love the same artists and I have to say, your videos have took me to another level! Your teaching style is fabulous ❤

It's always so amazing watching it come together ❤

Hi Allison! I have what’s probably a strange question. How the heck are you so organized!? You have everything right there. All my stuff is in drawers and bins and all over the place. I have a very small space. Maybe one day you can do a video on that. How to organize yourself so things are readily available. Love your art and love you too. You’re not like a majority of UA-camrs which is a high compliment. Stay sweet. 💙🦋
haha. thankyou! i will do a video sometime on my studio organization…. it’s a disaster after just 48 hours of tidying … but i do tend to know where everything is.!
This is just.....The COOLEST!
thank you!
I love this video! I'm so surprised each time I watch another of your videos because your style is one that I gravitate to and I have been learning how to embrace it this year. So beautiful !

Thank you for sharing...so lovely :D
Awesome, information, tips, and your style !! thanks for sharing so helpful...:)
You have so many good nuggets of info in your videos. When you said that you like to paint with dark colors first - that really caught my attention. The last two days I have been working on some Laura Horn Art projects and I have been struggling so much with my color choices. And she is teaching to start with lighter colors (as so many do) but I wonder if I should try darks first. Maybe that will help me get over this hurdle. That...or I just need to learn to scale things back a bit.
BTW, I love these colors and the paints. I have been saving up for the Ocean Paper box like you have. Now that I have the money, I just need her to restock.
Thanks for another great video!
yes, I have heard Laura Horn(who I adore!) and many very experienced artists say to start with "lights" first and move to darks... One reason is to keep your water cleaner if you are just using one water jar.... And it makes sense- but it also doesn't always match what I'm feeling I want to do at the time of painting. I always let my "colour craving " choice override "rules"... I often start with dark hues and I have to admit that often my best paintings (and best sellers) are those ones...as I felt very "free" painting them. Art can be playing by rules set by yourself or others, or Art , to me , is throwing the rules out the window and just going with what you feel/know best for you. Continue to play and explore and do what feels right to you... it will work out.
What beautiful work Allison, thank you for sharing this interesting process❤
Oh thank you for watching, Mary! xx
Beautiful colors! ❤
thank you Connie
Love this.
thankyou Kerri
Hi, very interesting channel!
beautiful
so nice
Thank you so much for your tutorial videos, it’s so helpful for me in my study because my prof doesn’t teach anything in the class. By watching your video, I’ve learned a lot you’re the best 😃👍🏻🌈💘💘💘
Wow- so nice to hear this. Thanks Golden Athena!
You seem like such a sweet person. It comes through the video
thanks Karen:)
So glad I found your channel. I was watching Diane Antone and she mentioned you. Im actually a photographer who just recently started watercolor to take a break when editing. Your work is beautiful
thank you so much!
I don't know Diane but just looked her up and have subscribed and I"m so honoured she mentioned me:) thanks for letting me know.
The box with your colors in it, did it come that way or did you add them each in? Love those colors, what brand are they?
I tend to mix and match -but this was a palette from Kauai- www.theoceanpaper.com
Did that box come with the watercolors or can you put any in there? It’s so “earthy” and warm. I love the wood touch
I mix and match and often make my own colours. the bamboo and wooden boxes are so nice.
Love your creative mix media art, it’s so beautiful and cathartic ! You really have aspired me to try mix media Art. I love that beautiful Japanese pink water colour you used. Where was it from please? Thank you 😊🥰🇨🇦
thanks ! Kuretake gambi- is the brand😄
@@allisondawrant do you mean Kuretake TAMBI? I can’t find a Gambi? Thank you 😊
Could you please list and link where your water colours come from the ones in the wooden box? I love your work
theoceanpaper.com ❤️
My colors don't look like this when they dry
i use a lot of pigment. maybe that’s part of it?
