  • Art poetry paintings and inspirational artist/art book "Painting Calm"
    -I recently discovered the most beautiful watercolour artist, Inga Buividavice. I purchased her book "Painting Calm", and her work is my most recent inspiration for my own "art poetry" painting style. In this video, I will show you how I was inspired by a palette , and used mark making and composition to make it "my own". I use paint pens (posca pens, and sharpie WATER-BASED pens), as well as water-soluble pencil crayons , gelatos, and micron/permanent ink pens. I recommend 140lb watercolour paper for the best result.

      that is how i started :) By emulating other artists. we all learn from each other and if we practice enough and find what we love- it ultimately becomes our own.

    I love watching you paint. I could watch you for hours!! I have not done mixed media for sometime, concentrating on watercolor painting. However, I veered back after watching your videos as well as other artists'. I'm excited at the idea of mark making on top of watercolor backgrounds, and I'm having fun with it. Thank you so much for sharing your ideas You are such an inspiration!

    Just wanted to share that like you, my mental health is tied to my art practice. I always painted, but moving to Texas, embracing nature, animals, and setting up a studio has changed my outlook on life. We definitely are on the same vibe, breathe, be still, and remember this, "The universe is always working in your favor." I can't wait for your oracle deck. I'm working on cards for our Farm Shop that will open 2024. Thank you for promoting wellness! Your amazing 👏 ✨️ ❤

    Wild fire haze has been drifting down towards where I live in West. PA USA. Creates a connection to your lovely piece. I use micron pens alot in my mandalas I draw. I've also used the caran dache watercolor pencils. I have gelatos but rarely use them...now I might try. Enjoyed your video.🙂🙃🙂

      Komorebi Mozart watercolour set (from Japan) . this set has a lot of neons.

    I bought the book and I will have a go. But she has not made it very clear what brush sizes to use, or the colour codes. If you bought your own paints or wanted to use similar that would have been helpful. Good insight of your use of the book.

      what colour would you use for etchr yellow as there is no such colour. She has also listed Quinacridone Orange which also does not exist, so I can only assume she means Burnt Orange ?

    • @allisondawrant
      @allisondawrant  Рік тому

      these are great questions Sandi, and to be honest I'm not sure how to guide you on these specific colours without knowing what watercolour palette you're using. And even if you did have a specific palette and I also had that same palette- I may not even know how to guide you. (colour mixing can be complex). I mix colours often and don't reference exact colours as part of my process is to just mix and match and let the colour do what it wants. I use a "burnt orange" to get that deep darker orange, yes. Thanks for watching :)@@sandjune2753

      I love larger round brushes, such a Princeton in size 10, or 12. A good brush size to test out would be size 6 or 8, to see if you love larger or smaller sizes... fine lines and smaller work would do well with smaller sizes 6 and under... Size 8 round and up would do well with larger brushstrokes and larger images..(coverage). I wish I could guide you better with colour codes, but I choose colours intuitively in the moment and mix a lot! With practice you will start creating your own colour recipes and if you stick with it, it will become easier to do with time..

    Just discovered your channel and watched all of your videos. You have already inspired me ! This cooler pallet is so gorgeous. are you able to share the coolers? I really want the pale turquoise and neon pink colour!

      @allisondawrant  Рік тому

      I hope to do supply videos and lists soon~ But the neon pink is from a watercolour set I'd purchased on Amazon called Komorebi. It has beautiful neons if you love neon in your work. The turquoise may have been a combo of paints- but check out Kuretake Gambi or "Kuretake " watercolours on Amazon (some local art stores have these, and they are from Japan). they are almost like gouache (opaque ) watercolour. LOVE them.

      the neons are Komorebi (amazon) and the teal is Kuretake (japanese brand)- can’t recall name of colour tho.
