    A great review demonstrating the sound wave technology. Also It was a great idea to play the same piece on a number of Flight ukuleles for a true comparison. Keep up the great work.

    Great review, as always, Sammy!
    I have pondered whether or not to get one of these as I have three lovely tenor ukes already (Uma 30-ST EVO, Flight Nighthawk and Fight Fireball - the latter two, I bought from SUS - who were also great!).
    I've only been playing for almost 9 months and still have a long way to go until I can play anywhere near as well as i would like to, but as I'm only teaching myself, I suppose that "Rome wasn't built in a day" and all that jazz!

    Hi sammy, what is your personal prefences in sound, the flight diana (tenor) or the flight sophia (tenor) Im tossing and turning which is your personal preference and do you know if theres any difference?

    I fell in love with this after testing it in the store. I actually prefer playing baritone but this tenor sounds better than any other instrument i own. It came strung with worth browns which I now prefer for my tenors. I hardly ever use the soundwave options.

      It is a very underrated instrument, the main reason I'm not elitist about solid wood vs laminate

    Excellent video Sammy, thank you. I am looking to upgrade my Kala uke and have tried out a few in my local music shops. I was very disappointed with the Iris as the 5th fret on the C string was so dull and muddy, in fact most of the ukes I have tried have been the same. I have asked around for advice on this but not received anything sensible back. Have you any thoughts? My Kala PWT tenor is dreadful.

    • @4stringboy
      @4stringboy  4 місяці тому +1

      Thanks Phil - I often put this down to strings, but there may be another explanation to it that I'm less qualified to talk about! The C string is a chunky boy, and so it's often that it's the deadest sound especially when fretted.

    So basically another question.My question are there any Flight ukulele models that you have restrung to low G and if so what strings and what particular models (without having to adjust the nut or the bridge) and how do they feel?Flight have stated that they currently do not have low G acoustic models. I would like to have a low G string instead of a high G and this model I consider a good buy especially for busking or very small venues. . I have heard on various forums that because of the higher gauge width of the string, the string may have problems fitting properly into the nut and the bridge and these may need to be filed which will void the warranty. Flight has indicted that metal strings may be used, they did not state wound or straight.

    • @4stringboy
      @4stringboy  6 місяців тому

      You don’t have to adjust the nut or bridge for low G - I’ve had my Diana, Nighthawk and A10 all wearing a low G at different points and it’s fine 😇 if you use an unwound string these are thicker, so a wound low G (I use smooth gold ukelogic) will work a treat!

    I really like these reviews and how you show everything of the uke and compare it to the others for the sound difference.
    Though I have to admit, she is a bit to plain for my taste even with the red binding and abalone ring. 😅
    I have my eyes on the Nighthawk, that dark wood with the sparkly blue cut-out is soooo pretty! 😍
    Hopefully she'll get a review as well, once she joined the high G club again. 😁

      @@4stringboy Awwww yes! 😍 Though this will probably be the end of having inner monologues like this: "Noooo, I don't need a tenor yet, I just bought my second concert last December and I won a soprano in Berlin, it's expensive, I should wait a bit longer, the flat is full as it is and I can only play one uke at a time anyway, but it's so pretty and we wants it precious. 🥺"

      I have an Uma UK-ST EVO tenor and a Flight Nighthawk tenor - and I love them both (though they have the strings that they arrived with, and I feel that the strings on the Nighthawk are a little less forgiving and are a little harder on the fingers).
      I would love to get another nice tenor (maybe the Flight Fireball) - though I do like the idea of the Soundwave on the Diana.
      I do wonder if getting a third tenor would be folly right now, as I am not as good on the uke as I wish I was (though I should maybe go easy on myself, as my 6 month uke-iversary is in a couple of weeks time, so it's all still very much a work in progress).

    Hi seem slovely how long does the battery last in terms of playing time and does it come with all the necessary cord for recharging?. Is the recharge set up a USB, 9 volt. Does it come with adjustable cab;es to recharge for American, European or UK Electrical sockets?

    • @4stringboy

      Hello mate, I'm bot sure how long it lasts but long enough that I don't have to charge it every month. It comes with a jack to usb A, which will plug into any phone charger etc

    I tried a Diana w/soundwave and unfortunately I didn’t like the one that I got. For one, the fret edges were noticeably sharp, both sides up and down the neck. Also the sound seemed rather dull and after a short time the whole soundwave lost its appeal. I don’t know, maybe I just got a lemon but I returned it.

    • @4stringboy
      @4stringboy  3 місяці тому

      Lemons exist, dull is not a term I’d use to describe the sound of a Diana so maybe you did get a lemon (especially with those frets)

    • @josephkwiatkowski7283
      @josephkwiatkowski7283 3 місяці тому +2

      I’d advise not to purchase a fine instrument from Amazon where it might sit in a very hot and dry warehouse which can cause the wood to contract, warp, swell, separate etc. etc. Better off paying a little more and getting it for a dealer that cares for their instruments. Good luck.
