- The 2020 Toyota Corolla is totally new and much improved. With fresh styling, a new platform and more technology, the 2020 Toyota Corolla sedan is more appealing than ever. It returns up to 40 miles per gallon and starts below $21,000, making it an attractive choice in the compact-sedan segment. Read the full review - roadshow.co/SvQDeU

Corolla Hybrid or Prius? Go!
Roadshow hydrid man 👀
Neither. I'd get the insight
EV or ICE, no half measures. I'd like a 2025 Toyota Corolla BEV; no hydrogen BS. By then, the range would be ~ 425 mi/charge.
Seems like most of you would take the Corolla Hybrid over the Prius. So would most of us at Roadshow, too.
I like the Prius, but it's the same platform, so if the Corolla is cheaper and only a couple mpg off...
The VW you keep mentioning will break down after a few years and the Toyota will still be goin.
I hope it's not the same for these Toyota's due to CVT or if it will have an effect? I'm thinking of just getting the manual version
@@hoodieboy1515 Their cvt is much better than what Nissan is putting out, some actually have a cog for first gear launch. But all cars will be cvts soon. But I would go manual .
Maybe not so few and very expensive to fix even if they can figure out what's wrong with it.
Looks great. Alot of good angles sharp and defined.
Remember everyone, there is CVT transmissions everywhere...and then there is Toyota CVT= Smooth, creamy and classy. Toyota all the way. I have a 2017 and I've driven it nonstop and it's a horse.
CVT TRANSMISSIONS SUUUUCCCKK! TOYOTA IS IN COURT FIGHTING A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT OVER THEIRS! I OWN A 2004 9TH GEN ROLLA, MANUAL XMSN! I LOVE IT, WILL DROP 10K IN IT, AND DRIVE IT TILL I CANNOT DRIVE ANYMORE!
What the hell. You get a small car on 18"wheels and then complain about the road noise? Have some sense man!
Well they could've added more sound deadening.
Or a wheel/tyre combination that allowed for some sidewall. Extra sound deadening costs weight and cash, and you're only adding it to compensate for a cosmetic choice.
Then u guys go buy new Peougeot 208 uses 17” 😂
Not a very clever guy the reviewer.
All Toyotas and Lexus from the cheapest to the top end feels the same, if they add sound deadening, it will hurt the sales of their higher end vehicles.
The most beautiful Corolla introduction. Thanks you sir..
No turbo? Smart. Very smart. Engine fires can ruin your whole day.
I agree like the Honda's have so many turbo yes more power but it wears down the internals within the engine more air and heat induction will wear out the engines much faster. Toyota knows what their doing. I'd rather have reliabilty over speed.
But diesel need the turbo, and toyota doing that
I really hope that the new headlight styling means they have also fixed the issue with excessive glare from the low beams. Those things are aimed way to high and are glaring no matter the ride height of the oncoming vehicle! Also the DRLs should go too in favor of automatic lights. I see Corollas on roads and highways all of the time riding in the dark.
All of that said the new Corolla in SE/XSE trims is looking good.
These review sites always review the top end trims. It's kind of a scam.
Man i think Toyota got a winner here! Cool little car, i did owned a 2010 s, and loved it! Great commuter car never had any problems with it! Just routine maintenance.😎👍
Those ZZ engines last!
Try a hybrid without sunroof, then tell us about the road noise. Super happy with mine.
No matter how good these reviewers get I will always miss Brian Cooley
Miguel Ircontar what ever happened to him
I was really wowed by the 2019 Corolla hatchback design and was hoping for a sedan version for 2020. Looks that won’t happen. Glad I went with 2019 sedan it has a bigger back seat then 2020 sedan and a bit better gas mileage. Plus I like aggressive front bumper look of SE sedan Corolla 2019.
...forgot to mention, my Hybrid Corolla averages 60-61MPG. Calculated by hand, not using the trip computer... trip computer is fairly accurate within 2MPG for me so far after driving it a few thousand miles. I also drive three children with some highway and city (dropping my kids off at school and personal use). MPG is underrated.
So true just like with the older corrola from Last gen. I recently bought a 2019 LE corrola ive been averaging around 40 to 45 on the Highway. I love it very comfortable car and I feel safe driving it with all the new safety features.
Savannah was a great pick for doing this review.
Savannah is a beautiful city!
Have I misunderstood here? He mentioned 52mpg combined for the hybrid version!!! In the UK, my Lexus IS300h 2.5 2015 gets over 60mpg combined (on paper) ????? Why the difference, when we both quote mpg as opposed to L/100km ??? Really confused here 😑
Somebody left their TV on the dash.
Rudy F it’s an ipad
Right. Bad integration.
I really like the Blue Crush, and the red looks quite good on these new Corollas.
Glad you mentioned it in your review, but YES, the road noise is VERY noticable in the video and doesn't sound good at all. Unfortunate for the Corolla.
Dominic Ilan Cruz its a corolla, not a Lexus LS500!
@@tinhinnh No, I agree, it's too loud. And this coming from a 14 Crosstrek owner, which I believe has one of the noisiest cabin on the road...Toyota is doing something wrong here. I think ditching these low-profile tires and getting proper tires will make a significant difference.
Tony Li Lets drive an LE and find out
tinhinnh I drove one. It’s extremely loud
Key Brown so its not the tires...I need to drive one...
When Toyota introduced the Safety Sense package in 2017, the Corolla was the only one to have it standard, even on the base. Some of those safety features were optional on the Honda Civic. One safety feature the Civic had that the Corolla didn't have is blind spot monitoring

Long live the 1.8 and manual simplicity is reliability
Unfortunately, you can't get that combination though according to the review. Only SE and XSE have the manual option and that comes with the 2.0. I'd choose the new 2.0 for myself as I like the overall package that the SE/XSE offers plus manual of course :).
I have 1 2019 the last good car made ever here out it's all junk
How does that "creep in traffic" and "brake hold" work? It WAS loud, hard to hear even. Corolla pricing is now very reasonable and they have good content. I wonder about the new CVT .. is it more hardy? I drove a U-Drive of a 2017 (so older) and that CVT had early signs of what my brothers Caliber CVT aged like.
I'd really like to see the 2L hybrid, which the Corolla gets in Europe in addition to the 1.8L, come to the US and also their eFour AWD system the Prius and UX get.
does anyone else have a 2020 and have a whistling sound /winding when they put it in park or reverse? Ive never had a toyota before but this seems strange . I have the LE
it's the e-brake, don't worry about it.
It looks stylish, modern, yet simple at the same time. I would get the XSE in white and tint the windows. Toyota did a good job. The different model options are also nice. Those wanting a simple car will get the LE, for a more sportier look and engine the XSE, those who are gas savvy will get the hybrid. The best of all, no turbo engines. It will be another reliable Corolla that will sell like hotcakes, like generations before.
So true I was amazed at the deal Toyota gave me on my 2019 then I saw the new 2020 redesign! Lol Either way both are good looking cars but the 2020 Corrola is very modern hope to bump up in the future to the newer corrola or Camry until then I love my 2019 LE Corrola. I went to my dealer this past Monday and I was looking at the new corrola and the rep. told me they are selling them like crazy they can't keep enough of them in stock lol. Yea the Honda turbo are cool but in time those engines will wear out so much quicker to to the forced induction of more heat and air into the engine. Toyota is bringing the style and just the plain reliability of a regular internal combustion engine with a turbo which will last a long time.
Mine is the Se model my first Toyota and I like so much
As the years go by, you will like it even more.
dash looks elegant
I would love to get the hybrid model if I can afford it
The 2020 gets Entunes 3.0, while the previous model is stuck on Entunes 2.0. It looks like Entunes 3.0 has more features that 2.0 doesn't have. It would be nice if we could get that upgrade on the 2017-2019 models
No reason to, plus the infotainment unit itself isn't compatible. Toyota is also killing off Entune starting with the 2020 Corolla, it will just be called Audio, Audio Plus and Premium.
Black + grey ... best looking Corolla. Ever.
I got the 6sp. No, it isn't a Lex, but it is WAY much better than the previous gens. Well done, Toyota.
Ich hoffe das dieses Auto in 3 Jahre noch zu kaufen ist! Nach 4 Autos von Toyota ist der camry der neue Wunsch von uns weil Toyota die beste Autos fabriziert
I just test drove the 2019 Camry and Corolla and was disappointed by the road noise, especially in the Camry.
The Camry?, it is said to be one of the quietest cars in its class, and when I was in it, it was pretty quiet. I'm quite surprised at that. Cheers and have a nice Day'
Nick Lemen what trim? You gotta keep in mind the thinner the tire the more noise to some extent.
To plain and simple will always love the 2006-2013 corollas and I wish they could bring back the xrs and or add a trd trim for the new Corolla because the xse is too cheap looking for the most expensive trim.
The 2019 Forte also gets 40 on the highway, is better-looking, and comes loaded for the same top price. Even the base trims have a lot of features included. Plus has a killer warranty.
If only we got the corolla wagon..
Toyota/Lexus rule.
I've had mine for 22 great years so far.
wish the dual exhaust is in the hatch version :S
L O V E L Y ! ! !
The car looks clean
Toyota are great design now 👌
It just took 30 years and serious sell drop to finally get it
Looks good in black. XLE should have 2.0L and 17” wheels. the hybrid is actually the Uber edition 😆
Finally, until this generation, I would consider this as an alternative of the Honda Civic Sedan or Hatchback as they have multilink suspension and improved interior, exterior. Would get it in MT tho.
What about Mazda?
I got nothing
Good review
Maan lately all these compact cars fitted with 18 in rims and up. apart from the golf GTI and Civic tires will be a high-dollar maintenance item
You want cheap tires, go buy and ride a bike. Tires as a whole are growing in price, across the board. I'm a Corvette owner, and my wife has a Civic with 17".. she still spends about what I pay for just 2 of my Corvette tires for a set of 4 on her Honda. Inflation sucks.
$20k cars from Toyota that absorbs the bumps no matter where you're seated. Thanks to multilink rear suspension.
TNGA-C is on Corolla sedan, Corolla hatch, and C-HR.
Duuude the power of that 2.0 na is top notch and gets good mpg. If it only had a sporty coupe like the civic
When Toyota talk about adaptive cruise control it should specify what exactly it means because sometimes they work in stop and go traffic and sometimes they don't!
The old version stopped working after you went below 25 mph This new corolla has Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 which will go all the way too 0.
@@vang2067 also, the lane departure alert didn't work below 32 mph in old version
Adaptive cruise control with LOW SPEED FOLLOW works in stop and go traffic. Most of the newest cars have this, with most manual transmissions not working below about 15 mph.
Wasn't this recalled?
Cvt makes it a hard buy. Why don't you car people discuss the longevity of certain transmissions etc? Thst would be a helpful review
CVT tranny is junk even on a Toyota.
No it's not. Look at the prius
Also don't forget that Toyota uses one the most reliable transmissions in the world and they also own 30% of that company called Aisin. They make the best CVTs better than JATCO. Nissans had tons of transmissions failing and slipping due to using Jatco transmissions.
Dont forget that when Toyotas new hatchback came out they had numerous recalls on.... wait for it... their CVT transmissions. Honda has been making them for longer.
@@Sandor_Helderman most vehicles have recalls. Recall are a good thing bc the manufactor will fix it. That has nothing to do with the quality of the car 🤣🤣
Whoa whoa whoa! Go back to that Corolla hybrid with 52 miles per gallon!!! So the Prius is out the door?
Looks like it Ramon.
No, Prius will stay.
I believe that the Prius C will be terminated, but the bigger Prius will live on.
Prius has better features than Corolla
Toyota only sells the Corolla Hybrid in the LE trim and they leave out any luxury features they could to make you step up to Prius if you want more features. The Corolla Hybrid is there to replace the Prius C which will simplify the Prius family to 2 cars instead of 5 now it will be Prius and Prius Prime that's it. The Prius V was replaced by the Rav4 Hybrid and the Prius plug in was replaced by the Prius Prime so it was only a matter of time before Toyota killed the C
The main reason I give up Japanese low end sedan is because the poor NVH. I had a brand new Honda civic back to 2009 to 2018. The last 3 years of the ownership is terrible in terms of noise control. My wife used to joke, when I was driving Civic on highway, it's like sitting in a convertible. I bought a new Ford fusion hybrid in 2018, I very impressed about the NVH, in general hybrid/electrical vehicle has better NVH design, because when you drive on with electrical motor, there is no engine noise to cover the road/wind noise. So the insolation has to be better.
Tires and wheel size have a lot to do with noise production. Low rolling resistance tires have a tendency to make more noise due to the compound used to make the tire. The larger the wheel, the less rubber that is around it, thus making imperfections on the road more noticeable; it's the trade off to having a better aesthetic and slightly better handling. If you get small wheels and better tire compounds, more often than not the noise that is produced from these two will decrease while comfort will increase. 😅
Martin Macias cool, good to know!
that _Rolla_ hybrid tho
It’s a CVT now! It’s price jumped a lot!
It is NOT better than before!!
The previous generation automatic with lower price that lasts forever and cheap to maintain is way better!
Oskar Ngo they still sell manual which is cheaper
Filip J
Only ~$1.5K cheaper.
Literally it's an echo chamber about CVT. CVT's were garbage in the past and are vastly improved since then but still people complain while never driving them. Just stop already.
I'll keep my 07 LE.
The new Corolla sedan is very stylish,I think the hybrid is the pick of the range
The new civic really hurt, no?
Retractable screen would of been nice🤔
I wonder why car makers always do that like it's so important while you drive
Independent suspension is back.
For many years, corolla was ride on 13 " wheels,
omg this car is a beaut
Austin Powers younger brother?
Ha .. haha ha
It's crazy that they put on 18" wheels on a corrola. First generation Camry only had 13" wheels, 18 wheels contribute to more noise because nealy all auto journalists are bragging about bigger wheels looking better.
Those 18 inch tires are more expensive and wear out more easily.
Corolla is a corolla, will never become BMW no matter how big the wheel size is. Corolla has been a car requires minimum ownership cost transportation.
This trim level looks way more tolerable in black at least.
I love the design. The 2020 Corolla and the Kia Forte best designed in the class in my opinion. No tacky fake vents a la Civic
TOYOTA Camry is Just Great 👍🏿Long term Reliability for Sure Not too Stylish. But Ok 👌🏾 in that Note Needs just a little Bling not Much
Stil the best.
I own a 2014 Corolla but I leaned to drive at age 13 in savanna in a 98 corolla my moms she would go to work at a restaurant downtown and I would drive her car to the hood and pick up fat sacks of mid in 2003
Dude the fenders are more flared , you need to study up better
wow a non boring looking corolla. It took them a while
It is still missing Android Auto that most all other compact sedans have
Toyota has added Android Auto to it's most recent release of trucks. We hope it trickles down to the sedans as well.
Damn they invited everyone to Savannah
The tail lights look like they came from Ford Fusion sedan.
Cvt is insane for a basic Toyota idk why anyone would but that. Those cvt transmissions are know for slipping going up hills
I've never heard of that before
Look it up scotty Kilmer
Frontend is finally a beauty but the back still need some tweaking. Headlights look expensive but those taillights look cheap and not attractive at all.
I agree, they look to “standard”
From back side it looks like kia cerato 2016
That little sail window on the front door isn't to "help you see better around the corner", it's simply to accommodate the design of the door to enable your window to roll all the way down.
Civic: built in UK, Corolla (Hybrid) built in Japan: easy choice for me.
A 2 liter Turbocharged, rear wheel drive configuration Corolla sedan would redefine the meaning of Sporty for the Corolla had certain Bean Counters at Toyota got the sack. Rear wheel drive Corollas were the source of the Toyota 86.
That makes no sense for a corolla to have that
@@ownubadboy10 It made sense for the AE86 Corolla in the 80s. That's the origin of the cult hero car the Toyota 86.
@@H0LDENSUX Last time I checked the 86 is just a re badge of the Subaru BRZ. The Corolla now a days is built for economy, reliability, easy drive ability, and cheap to buy.
@@ownubadboy10 The 86 does not have to remain a rebadged BRZ forever. Toyota should revisit using the Corolla as a rear wheel drive platform that has superior power to weight ratio of the Oriiginal Corolla AE86 without having to rely on Subaru or other manufacturers for weak power and torque output and economies of scale. After all it's not like Toyota is having to rebuild a completely new engine and introduce a new draft shaft etc.
@@H0LDENSUX It makes no sense to make the Corolla rear wheel drive when it's not meant to be a sporty car. That's what the 86 is for. I'm not gonna restate my reasons again why the Corolla is one of the best selling cars on the market. It would be dumb to completely change the design since then it would aim towards a completely different crowd.
Needs to be awd and not front wheel.
Being rated for decades at the top for quality, Toyota is getting lazy and a bit complacent lately.
Did he just say the Jetta looks better than the Corolla🤭? Anything but a fan of the Corolla but this definitely looks better than the down right generic looking Jetta.
To each their own.
At last a toyota that has some sense of style. The awful looking yaris too needs this styling treatment. But, i would still prefer the Mazda 3 to this.
That is LOUD. Unacceptable NVH even in this sportier trim !
This is why, for me, the Corolla never reaches Civic's level .
Asfand Ashraf Civic is very loud! Thats why I would never recommend it as a car for long motorway trips...
@@andrzejbudzynski9237 hey bro - I have the 2017 and its quiet ! But yes the previous gens were autrocious ! Horrible NVH.
@@andrzejbudzynski9237 also I think the tyres you choose makes a huge difference in road noise.

@@DoctorSkillz Oh, okay. Thanks for the clarification. I'm in Dallas Texas. No stranger to nice weather or dreary days that go on for weeks. Texas of course has a mind of its own in regards to weather 😎😁
Why does every car have to have a sport variant? Toyota has so much riced sport right up thru the Lexus brand. Good cars but trying to hard.
It can't be a 2020 .... it is just 2019 !
Should have made it bigger
Corolla gr would be awesome or a TRd or awd drive lol 😂
26k for a Corolla..xse...
Camry SE for same price$...
And no. Toyota dealers will drop the price. Try that with a Honda dealership, and they won't bulge.
@S. D. H. What do you think on a 2019 Kia Forte? I'm liking what it has. It has lots of stuff for less than Honda or Toyota. Honda thinks too high of themselves, and their quality isn't that good as before.
@S. D. H. I'm looking at a 2019 Kia Forte S. I like that it offers both Android Auto, and CarPlay. Toyota won't have Android Auto until 2020 or 2021.
2020 TOYOTA Corolla. Is. And Better if it gets over 40 mpg & more Cushioned Ride. Can. Use fog Fog lights in the bottom facia. And a. Stripe of Chrome on the lower Door. Area

Scotty Kilmer will condemn CVT transmission.
Haven't you heard? Scotty Kilmer is a crook.
He actually likes that one. His son owns a new Corolla, too.
Didnt like Corolla so went with civic sports turbo and its damm fast. To me I checked xse. Still most place felt plastic for 24000 I ain't paying it. Got good price for civic for 20000..happy. Toyota needs to bring the turbo and remove plastics. Mazda 3 I loved it more than civic and those damm dealers wont sell to me for the price I want. 😁😁😁
The LastSamurai the civic is not damm fast, its slower than the elantra sport turbo
But aren't turbo engines less reliable?
Complain all you want. The 2.0 is indestructible. Probably up there in reliability along with the 22r
Civic and it’s pathetic tiny oil diluting 1.5 can bite the dust
Civic
Drivers will drive even slower and have more accidents with them like usual
Facts
NO Android Auto in the 2020 sedan, and Toyota indicates that there are no plans to add it via an update. Inexcusable... And a fully loaded version is almost $30,000! It's a Corolla - not a Lexus...
I hate the hatchback, but the sedan is great. Toyota has not done much of anything right design wise in a long time. This time they have somehow crafted a tasteful design rather than give us another sinister Martian looking design Toyota has become famous for.
