    Nice review, good to see videos from different perspectives on this combo, and review of this compound, it does have a long working time and clean up is a breeze, no mess whatsoever, thanks for the review, look forward to seeing you use this on your next client/ Friends car in need for correction or enhancement, stay safe out there, appreciate the vids.
    FYI for any who are watching Smurf sped up video recording to keep vid shorter, in the beginning his polishing speed was as it should be.

      Zu, that depends on what type of clear your dealing with. On a softer clear, you'll be ok with one pad such as a medium cut pad. I won't state colors as each manufacturer is different. On the harder more stubborn clear, you'll need a more aggressive pad which still can serve as a On step. Also, factor in what level of defect removal your going after as well. So many variables to consider.

    3D products tend to have a longer working time than most other products on the market. Try halving your section size with 8 passes on each section instead of four (hence the longer working time of the product) and you should get even better results, Just finished a 78 T-Bird just yesterday with only using 3D ONE to prep for the 3D Ceramic coating. using the method I just mentioned I had the best results yet with this product using their course and medium spider pads, also works great with a wool pad too for heavily scratched or marred paint.
    Cheers for the video, I enjoyed it.

    I’m gonna cop the G9 , I should’ve bought it but I got the Flex PXE 80 instead but I really want the G9. I have a sneaking suspicion with a 4” backing plate the machine would be killer even more than it is. And on a side note I was having the same issues with my MaxShine machine yesterday after the washer mod so I switched pads and went to the Griots pads and wow I got so much work done.

    • @PapaSmurf918Detail

It felt nice with the rupes white pad. Idk I'm sending it back to MaxShine so they can take care of it hopefully! I'm glad you were able to get work done!✊✊

      @@PapaSmurf918Detail I totally recommend it to you. It's a product that hasn't got a lot of diffusion on UA-cam, cause people have been more attracted to the ceramic bullshit. I'm not against ceramic coatings, but I don't have a Ferrari or a C8 Corvette to invest the money or prepare a car going through the process to get a ceramic coating so old fashion car care it's more than enough to keep it shining and repelling water with the added protection using the Epoxy every now and then, plus I get entertained doing my maintenance washes🤣🤣🤣. The price, durability and easy-to-use are amazing. Oh, and those urofiber pads are the worst I have ever used. The foam is so damn flimsy and the fiber isn't better than the rest of the conventional microfiber ones. I personally like the Griot's Garage pads the most. They last a very, very long time and they are very thick to reduce the heat.

    I use a lot of 3D products. Their compounds and polishes are all i use 500 & 520, 501 & 502, as welll as 3D ONE, with the exception of Sonax Ultimate Heavy Cut for extreme defects. I come to settle on Shinemate foam pads, chemical guys hexlogic, and 3D spider cut foam pads. But for 3D One I only use Buff'n shine 50/50 urofiber pads with that particular compound. At first I was skeptical of a one step cutting as well as people said and finishing down to what was said too. To my suprise it really is that good of a combination and has suprised me more than any compound/polish on the market. I was let down by other over hyped one steps like Rupes Uno in the past but 3D is at the top of the game in liquefied compound/polishes for paint correction

Does it mix or is it pure solvent ? Capro Cool Pad Wool/MF will but nearly anything with moisturizing lotion so this would be great with it. THanks

    • @PapaSmurf918Detail
      @PapaSmurf918Detail  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks Greg! Ok so, for instance.. I will start with the least aggressive method ( pad ) when I use 3dOne.. is very pad dependent.. I'll start with a foam polishing pad which does not have much cut to it. And after i do s few passes I'll check the amount of defect removal i achieve.. if I'm happy with those results I'll stick to that pad and 3d One. But if I wish to up my cut I'll switch to a foam cutting pad which will offer a little more cut.. repeat process and check. 👍 you'll find on softer clear coats a less aggressive foam pad will cut pretty well.. if your not getting anywhere then your prob dealing with harder clear. Then I move to the urofiber 50/50.. or a microfiber cutting pad... but, with those they will leave a haze and some micro marring sometimes that require to follow up with a foam finishing pad.. BUT you can use 3dONE still as a finish polish 👌

    • @PapaSmurf918Detail
      @PapaSmurf918Detail  2 роки тому

      Thanks man!🤜🤛 arm speed will always change depending on how much defect removal I'm after. For example, if your looking for correction speed 1 inch per second is a great start. If your just doing a light polish or enhancement my arm speed will be on the quicker side as I'm not going for as much defect removal. Hope that makes sense.! 2x2 section I call up down then left and right 1 pass. I'll usually do 2 passes sometimes 3 depending on the cycle time and type of abrasive. This 3d one has great cycle time and can be worked for multiple passes before it looses lubrication.

      Thanks man! Ummm as far as gloss. I don't have a meter but, a foam pad will always finish down better. To me. On a soft paint these urofiber pads will micro marr and haze a tad. So you gotta finish out with foam. On small harder clear will be a different story. So it all really depends but I always like to finish with a foam pad👍👍

I got the Griots G8 and G9 (actually G8/9 were one of the lowest cost polishers and top rated), the URO 50/50 pads, 3D one C/P. I also got some Menzerna Super Finish 3500 Super Finish to use with carpro finish pads.

However, starting off with a Urofiber 50/50 is pretty aggressive. Might I suggest starting with a lighter approach pad wise ( maybe a medium cut foam pad ) just to see how it performs and you might find it gives you the results you are looking for and that will save you clearcoat... all in all that's what protects your paint so savoring it is key. Well, 9 times out of 10 you will get more shine with your finishing foam pads. Especially if you cut with microfiber or urofiber.. then simply just switch your pad out and add a few more drops of 3d one and polish 👍👍 thank you for taking the time to watch!

    can you use the uro-fiber+3d the same way you would a finishing polish with no haze and at the same time remove medium defects? or is there a change in technique somewhere to produce a finish with no haze?

    • @PapaSmurf918Detail
      @PapaSmurf918Detail  Рік тому +1

      Patrick, that all depends on what kind if paintwork you are on. If you are working with a clear that's on the harder side then you could absolutely get away with a 1 step as 3d one does finish out very well.. however defect removal will be a little tougher on harder clear so you may need to re apply and go in for a 2nd pass.. now, if your on the softer side of clear then the urofiber 50/50 pad will do well and defect removal will be much more but you more than likely will need to grab a finishing foam pad or just a light polishing foam pad.. with my experience on softer clear the urofiber pad will leave a bit of haze.. nothing a quick pad change won't fix though! 👍👍

    What causes foam pads to separate from the backing, or to come apart? Used some for the first time this week. Added four drops every time I went to a new section until they’d eventually end up too wet with polis. Then I’d blow them out with an air hose & go back to wash at I was doing. The griot brand pad lasted until I was almost done before it came apart. The cheaper pads didn’t last that long.

      Honestly I've never had a pad come apart on me! I still actually have this same oad I used in the video. Granted I don't use then daily. However to much heat usually is the cause. And to much pressure. Lots of variables. Quality of pad as well. What pad did you experience this with? Could just be a bad pad.

    Judging from watching many videos it seems the microfiber pads seem to work best for cutting and or one steps and when using a two step,using a fine foam pad like Lake Country or Rupes combined with a fine polish for polishing out.Seems though for most vehicles you can just run the euro fiber or griots orange foam pad for a great one step and finish with good ceramic coating or poly sealant to get that added depth and gloss.

    This combo looks amazing. So this past weekend I was trying to paint correct my truck which has black paint. I was using Meguiars compound and polish with chemical guys orange and white foam pads and it did get rid of some scratched and swirl marks but left behind a haze all over the paint. You can only see the haze with a led light. Not sure what went wrong. I'm just beginning with all of this. I want to try the combo you used in this video and I'm wondering if it will remove the haze from the clear coat. Let me know what you think please. Thank you.

    • @PapaSmurf918Detail

      It's a great combination! 👍 so on your truck there are a few variables.. when it comes to black paint you always have to finish it out good or you will see the haze. If you used the white pad which I assume is there finish pad?? I'm not a fan of the CG pads btw. If you used that paired with the ultimate polish after you used the compound it SHOULD have taken care of that haze. Unless the clear is soft.. which requires a little more delicate finishing. Which means a smaller throw machine an lower working speed on the polisher. What kind of polisher do you have an what speed were you running it at???? There are so many variables 😄 It's ok though man, your at the beginning stages so these trial an errors are what make the experience and knowledge form. No 2 cars are the same. It's trail and error when it comes to paint polishing.. I will say I started out with that Meg's ultimate compound and harbor freight polisher ans Griots pads. Great results. The Rupes White ultra fine finish pads are usually my go too when finishing black paint. Feel free to ask or reach out if you need anything. As far as what? Prepping? Or as a primer?

      @@lovedoctor25 yes, this can absolutely be used to prep before a coating. It's however NOT a primer. So a paint prep will be needed to remove polishing oils before a coating or any protection is applied

      FCC all day my friend.. however I'm currently working with a company developing a very unique compound that I'm VERY happy with so far. It may take the 1st place for me over FCC🤜🤛once the final formula is complete I'll be announcing it!!!

      @@PapaSmurf918Detail sweet..I haven't used it ..only HD speed and meguiars ultimate compound which have both been great..I also haven't used a ero fiber pad yet although I do have one..I compounded my truck the other day lightly with a orange pad and meguiars ultimate but it needs a little bit more to knock out all defects (very small) like I'd like since it goes to car shows.

      @@BeardsandCars awesome man.. yeah that urofiber pad with the meg's will probably give you the extra cut you need! Remember, you can step up aggression with your liquid OR a more aggressive pad👍🤜🤛

      @@PapaSmurf918Detail that's what I was thinking..I actually like the results of the meguiars topped with topper..its really shiny but was just wondering about that FCC lately..also was worried about hazing from the ero pad on my truck since I never used it but it may not even leave any at all..and if so I could probably follow up with a foam pad and wax and get rid of it.

      @@BeardsandCars precisely.. IF the uro pad leaves haze it would be on softer clear.. fcc is fantastic.. finishes great and it may sound aggressive but it's nothing your gonna get in trouble with believe me. But if you did get haze you could just slap on a finishing pad with megs ultimate on a slower speed and it will clean right up👍
