  • 3D ONE Hybrid is the new kid on the block. I have footage on the formula doing real world work in many situations. We will review it and show one of those situations today! 3 D One has specially engineered Nano Ceramic Alumina Abrasives that easily correct moderate imperfections. It also finishes down like a finishing polish.

I recognize that this doesn't excite anyone but me, but here goes. I have an '05 Volvo S40 t5 that I did a total paint correction. I have a cheap Bauer Polisher, but I'm just learning and I'll move up once I step up. I used 3D Speed Pink Soap, washed the car, rinsed, re-washed, left the suds ON, then using a clay mitt, clayed the car. I dried the car, then using duplicolor wax&grease remover, I went over the car AGAIN, rinsed&dried...then started the process. Using Meguiar's 6 inch microfiber cutting disc, I began the correction process. As I got down to where I wanted to be, switched to a Shine Mate T10 (no additional product) finishing pad, followed by Meguiar's areosol to protect it all. I know my steps are a little goofy, but my little car is beautiful......thanks to your review of 3D One. Thank you sir.

It's October 6th 2023, and 3D ONE is STILL the MVP of my polishing arsenal. Flanked by ACA500 on the heavy side and ACA520 on the fine, and AAT502 on the ultra fine side, 3D ONE is the champion for me.

Hi Brian, the B&S White pad in the video is a GEM on softer black paint for a 1-step or finishing with 3D ONE. I just did a 1-step on a black Acura TLX with OEM paint on the softer side. I tested several of pads and the B&S White pad was the only one that did not scour the paint. I actually I found this pad to finish(ever so slightly) better than the black finishing, and cut better(expected).

I have been a fan of 3D's two step 500 &520 as well as 501 & 502. Per a couple of your videos on 3D One with Buff & Shine 50/50 Urofiber pads i had got some of the One with the Urofiber pads and have had excellent results. Very fast compound that cuts moderate defects as well as polishes out a lot better than I ever expected. These were on 3 vehicles i did a two step on two years prior with 500 & 520 but I am confident it would do well on a vehicle i never did a correction on prior. Good stuff

I love this product with buff n shine euro pads. Excellent finish.
I go on 3 which is 3000 rpms n do a few passes n then (deps on the vehicle but def works amazing with harder paints) i will bump it up to 4000 rpms n finish it. If its softer paint i found switching to a white pad (either wiping n then adding more product or simply using whats on there and adding 2 drops to the white pad n this stuff seems to stay pretty usable and wet in my experience anyway.
Ive used this stuff in 40 degrees and it works well. Other products cannot be used when its too cold for sure. It just doesn't work n the product just cakes up n pad bounces around. This stuff however is a go to in cold.
I will occasionally use a good compound but usually have to add a few drops of water to the bottle and use a tiny bit of pad conditioner as well.

You have replied to comments on some videos that you don't like the Rupes machines as it broke in the middle of a job. Due to my Rupes 21 being out for repair I decided to shop around for a backup 21mm polisher, I ordered the Maxshine M21 Pro. Day 1 it was an amazing polisher, day 2 it felt like it was going to explode. Extreme vibrations, so much so that the pad was hoping on the panel. Maxshine polishers are hot garbage. My Rupes is going on 5 years and still loving them. 1 Rupes goes in for repair every year regardless if it needs it or not, mainly general maintenance to keep them fresh as I'm a full-time shop and my tools get used.

Just my 2 cents worth. I own a 2018 Honda CRV, 2018 Ram 1500, 04 expedition ( work truck ) and a 1994 Chevy Blazer, the Blazer is not perfect, but it is ALMOST perfect, close to show quality. Before I did 22yrs in the USAF I owned an Auto Detail shop. A long time ago I detailed cars for Auto Dealers. The cars were mostly sold at Auto Auctions, then sold on the Dealers Car Lots. The entire point of this post is, I own a Honda, NOT a Ferrari, 98% or more of ALL car owners will not see the tiny/small/ almost not visible imperfections that you are talking about. It looks like this product will be just fine for 98% of the car market. Oh BTW, when I do a weekly wash of MY car I always open the fuel filler door and wash the inside of it, door jams too. That is a small detail that is mostly missed. It's NOT a BUGATTI, it's a daily driver. Clean and nice but it can be taken too far. Stay away from Automatic Carwashes.

This has become my "go-to", to the point of almost becoming a crutch.
    I also picked up the 3D ACA500, and ACA520.
I've used the Menzerna 4000, Megs 201, 210, Ultimate Polish, Sonax perfect finish, and others I can't even remember in the last 22 years. I've never produced the gloss ACA520 gave me before. Very, very impressed. Of course the ACA500 is a home run, but the 520 blew me away.
I tend to use the 3D One both in my operation, and the shop where I help out from time to time. It's the first product I reach for, and it hasn't let me down.

I know this video is a bit older so I'm not sure if you're able to keep up with comments/questions of all your new stuff and your old stuff BUT I'm curious. I have a 17 Volkswagen GTI that I purchased back in July and just didn't have the time to correct it and I'm getting ready to do the correction here in March/April when I get some better weather. Is Volkswagen clear typically harder or softer? Would 3D One with the Uro Fiber pads be a strong combination to do a one step and remove most imperfections from the paint? Thanks Brian.

    • @yanniobkirk5744
      @yanniobkirk5744 3 роки тому

How did this go for you? Volkswagen paint is typically pretty hard. You might need a more aggressive pad/compound combination to correct it.
But this may finish out great as a 2nd step on that hard paint.

I am wondering if this 3D product would make quicker work over the Griots. I have 3D Speed in my arsenal and lets just say, I am not impressed with it over my Griots 3 in 1 Cream. I am predicting 5-6 hours worth of work on the Lexus.

I would not suggest using this after a compound, I have not used Ultimate Compound, but you will be cutting a lot with Ultimate, then ONE will remove more, I would use Ultimate Polish or Menzerna SF 3500 or SF 3800.

Love your videos! Looking at trying this product on my black Audi 2014 and white Volvo XC60. Both cars have very similar paint love marks as in this video with the Rover. Which foam pads would you recommend knowing that I am a beginner to DA polishing? Thanks

Regarding the coating raising the hardness, have you ever tried coating a car, but leaving an area UN-coated, and seeing whether the un-coated area develops more marring than the rest of the car, over time?

Would a regular compound say like meguiars ultimate compound be able to get out those swirls out using that same pad? or would it require a more abrasive pad?

Going to be purchasing my first all in one. I have 3 choices. 3d one, Sonax Perfect finish and Rupes Uno protect. Have you tested the later two to make a recommendation? Thank you!

3D ONE, and Sonax Perfect Finis aren't All In One products, they are basically medium cut polishing compounds.
Rupes Uno Protect is a cleaner wax or all in one.
Rupes no longer makes a medium cut polish, but you can pair their new DA Fine Compound with their yellow wool for a good one step polishing effort.
My favorite aside from 3D ONE is Menzerna MC2500.

I’m sure it has been asked before and I apologize.. I am a beginner and just got a DA. What is a good all in one or a one step to start with and get practice? Also what do you recommend to top it with? Thanks in advance!

Hey apex detail. I got the product along with the urofiber pads
I was working on a 2008 VW Passat with extremely hard clear and I just was not getting a lot of cut or results with the combo. It’s like the pad just didn’t have enough cut and then the compound wasn’t aggressive enough.
I have a griots 6” polisher it didn’t matter the pressure or speed, tried everything. My results came out more of a one step then a full correction.
    Have any tips?

So is it safe say that after this one step I can proceed to creamic coating since the 3d is technically a cut/polish.
