You had a beautiful-in-her-hard-hat Dayna with you, Dan! Great to see both of you exploring and taking us along for the ride. I totally agree that I wish you could have explored more. Several areas looked like they were closed off on purpose, but why? Was the ore very valuable? Hmmmm Guess we will just guess! However, I have a suggestion for you that popped into my head. Look for any old maps, news articles, or pictures in that area. Perhaps they might explain a couple of things. Thanks for your explanations on the types of rocks you saw. At first, I thought the light green stuff was peridot. Duh. I'm not even close to figuring out what rock is what, except for the basics through your videos. At least I could tell the difference between the copper and iron pieces! Score 1 for me! Dan, you are so blessed with knowledge and have a lot of patience answering and explaining things to everyone. Thank you so much (and Dayna, too!) Blessings from Alabama ❤️
If that really was 20.9 parts per million of oxygen then is it possible that Dan Hurd is an android.? 20.9%, that's parts per hundred is more my style.
The super long white filaments aren't a moss, those are a fungus of some sort, perhaps growing out of a poop. Also, sorry you don't like spiders, but most of who I saw looked to be harvestmen (a relative, but not spiders), though I'm not familiar with mine spiders.
Yup. Harmless little long-legged spiders that have actually moved into human habitation all over the continent. You find them in people's undisturbed basements & quiet dark sheds all the time. They definitely can't hurt you. I kind of like them, actually.
Hi Dana. It's a good thing I watch these videos alone because I am so vocal. Lol. I don't know if Dan has mentioned this before but I remind him of it every now and then, I was in his first class at George Pringle Secondary way back in 1997. I was actually in grade 12 but because I joined the school well into October that they put me in his grade 9 or 10 class as an assistant student. He made the class quite enjoyable and his curriculum was well thought out. When I got there he was teaching the class to make a come-along with a drill press and no fancy tools. A practical device that at the time, even though I was 18, owned several. They say that behind every great man is a greater woman, so thank you for staying by his side and keeping him great. I still consider him my teacher because I still learn from him, which vicariously makes you my teacher aswell.
Dan the man! I Always look 👀 forward to seeing your videos! My daughter is a UA-camr and does fishing, camping and cooking in her tiny house on a trailer, sailboat, kayaks and canoes and she had a few power boats 🚤. Becca from Rhode Island just hit 75K subs on YT. Love your work and personality. I also ❤your buddy Pauly! PP is how I found your channel!
I know zilch about spelunking, but I’d guess signs of spiders & rats must be a good sign of air quality. What they need to breath, we would too, right?
Nice to see you bringing Dayna out on more trips again! It's cute how your names are so similar. Reminds me of my Mum & her last husband--their names were very similar to each other (they were the male & female versions of their respective names). Cheers!
Hi Dan. I just started the video (1:02 to be literal because apparently the general public is too stupid to think for themselves and I'm sick of their stupidity) and already have something to add/praise you for getting. The air monitor is literally your most valuable piece of equipment when entering the earth. Cave explorers and mine prospectors should have that sitting at the top of the list of things I need. The gasses are invisible and some can kill you very fast. I equate it to a scuba diver thinking about the gear they will need to survive in an environment not made for humans.
@@kiampp there, I edited my comment so you don't have to use your brain. Happy? Is me adding excruciatingly painful details enough for you or do you have to have an exact description of my thought process too? Ppl like you should stay out of the comment section
Hey Dan and Dana.... I lived over in the Okanagan in 2004/5 and seeing you on the Fraser and other places is way cool for me... I did a bit of panning, and prospecting but nothing too serious.... Hope things better after the fires
No, better to have them where your breathing holes are: your mouth & nose. The air-quality near your feet won't matter a whole heck of a lot, since you aren't breathing where your feet are, so you hang your air-quality monitor on your chest, closer to your face.
@@DrachenGothik666 gases that are heavier than air and not start out on the ceiling. Therefore, if you want to be warned well before they get close to your face, it’s best to have it down below, unless you’re walking on your hands.
Would BCmR be like British Columbia Mine Reclamation or some organization like that ? Like a government reclamation dealio? Idk if you’re even in British Columbia 😂
I see Dayna didn't wear her boots underground. How about we start placing bets on how long her tennis shoes last? Unless you sprayed them with silicone waterproofing....
@13:50 Ok, and be honest, did you think about bottling it and selling expensive BC mineral water on your website? Because now that I've said it we both know you could make a profit doing that if it tests free of contamination.
That’s not moss Dan, that’s mold growing on rat turds lol. Don’t ask me how I know that. Looked like the main adit experienced a collapse. Not surprising given the ground water content in the area.
.17 cents a pound for scrap steel... it would be more beneficial to pull up that track and pipe to scrap out, than dig out that copper. too bad it didn't go back far.
I have one question, what make an model head lamp are you using. Looking for one when I have to go out at night because of critters after my chickens and geese.
It's the middle of the night and can't sleep. Dan to the rescue! You keep me greatly entertained and I love your intro. I live for welcome and hope to earn your subscription today. It just puts me in a fantastic mood to hear you say it❤
Hey Dan, don't you want to think about opening those closed entrances? They are probably closed for a reason, but what if you find tracks there? would be so intriguing!
I did a new install of a methane reactor at a water treatment plant during the height of COVID and H2S gas was prevalent there, we kept having to shut the site due to false alarms from COVID cases as one of the symptoms of H2S acute poisoning is losing your sense of smell.
Dan underground..must be serious.. all the fungus, I'm having visions of the opening of a Horror movie, lol spring, clean, cool water...perfect spot for a still..😆😆😆
Grandpa Said never go underground. Grandpa Elmer was a miner. Anaconda mine Britania Beach was his last mine he worked. But i enjoy watching your content Dan.
Hi Dan, could the calcareous, gravel like deposit be tufa or proto tufa. It would make sense if the calcareous water is running over thick layers of moss and other biomass and the tufa isn't getting time to consolidate before getting flushed away. Thanks for taking the time to make these films, I especially like the geology lessons of the day, they're always mind expanding, LOL. Take it easy, keep on truckin', best regards, Matt, all the way from the Orkney islands, NE Scotland.
Dan putting that Prospectors Beard to full use! Lol! Glad to see you've got the crew with ya, Ya getting ready for the weather change? Pretty soon we'll be limited to inside progress Lol!
As a mineral collector, i really like your videos, i think you are one of best channels in this niche.
Not a collector, but love the exploration and panning vids
You say one of the best, any suggestions for more?
I can agree with this comment. DAN has something going for him, his attitude and demeanor are really easy to watch and it's also a little informative.

In case you can't tell, Dan and Dana truly love each other! ❤
I am sad to announce I will not be able to subscribe today.
But only because I have been subscribed for over a year.

Those things in the cave are actually harvestmen or Opiliones. Completely harmless 😊

Fun fact: daddy long legs aren’t actually spiders
Of course pack rats build just inside caves, it's out of the weather. Same reason our ancestors liked them.

I thought the same. At least take a canary
He had a monitor with him? Why u trying to front on him? If u wanna criticize him go with the fact he’s the most scared UA-cam mine explorer 😂
You mean the thing he mentioned at 1:00 that was the most important bit of safety gear that he had?

Love couples doing stuff together. Dana is a keeper and you know it! 😎🙏
For some reason I imagined Pauly breaching the dam and crevicing
There's nothing like being one with nature... Thanks Dan . Great video.
😎👍🇨🇦
Have you slabbed the pyroxene/magnetite mix? Those can both be exceptional cabbing materials at times.
Bit of a different one today.
Very interesting content Dan and Dayna. Thank you, and salut from Vancouver Island.
Watch out for Shelob, there's no room to run!
If this is your property when was it stopped working because that hot pink paint underground is not that old
The hot pink spray paint is probably from the B.C. mines authority that inspected the place, recently, not from anyone working the mine.
I enjoy seeing Dana in your videos

" AU" let's go
Dan I'm ridiculously claustrophobic, I share your dislike of underground.
Isn’t it best to have your air-monitors best if lower to the ground? Not trying to criticize. ~Smile oN @Dan Hurd

15:20 BCMR British Columbia Mine Reclamation or “Reclamated” 5th of July 2022.
20.9 PPM of oxygen would have you dead very quick. 20.9% of oxygen is pretty good.
Greetings from the BIG SKY. I just saw Jason do a blast in his mine successfully.
BCMR...British Columbia Mineral Registry? Dunno, pulling that one out of my butt there.
I’m thinking BCMR is British Columbia Mine Reclamation. That’s who closed the adit and tagged it.
dan, your crazy fungus is called Pin fungi aka... poop mold. ..... it grows on poop.
Beautiful countr, Gorgeous Fall colors I'm ok with that lol, thanks for sharing✌️ Napa California
Would BCmR be like British Columbia Mine Reclamation or some organization like that ? Like a government reclamation dealio? Idk if you’re even in British Columbia 😂
Thanks Dan. Enjoyed. And Dana? You're a hottie. Be told. (Dan knows already)
The "mosses" are a mold of some sort with the tall structures being sporangia. The "cave spiders" are harmless daddy longlegs (Opiliones),
H2S is no joke ...2 step gas your done...California oil fields

Spiders.....argghhhhhhh.... i just ordered my wife some hours ago to throw a really big, ugly out of our living room - i hate them too

is that moss or KNO3 crystals
7:35 Dan's wife is so cool!! .. unless there was a 99% chance of finding free jewelry .. when my wife would not have ventured into the mine.
13:42 looks like a possible cave entrance.
I have one question, what make an model head lamp are you using. Looking for one when I have to go out at night because of critters after my chickens and geese.

12:34 - Maybe kaolin? Would make sense with the geology in the area.
poo. i was hoping for more than spiders and scary moss. Still, a fun video. thanks!
LOL At first I thought you said, "BEAR Monitor".
The crazy white stuff is slime mold. It sends out those stringers when it’s looking for a food source
Hey Dan, don't you want to think about opening those closed entrances? They are probably closed for a reason, but what if you find tracks there? would be so intriguing!
i agree he shoyld explore more
Any day exploring is a good day. Love that you brought Dana along to enjoy the hike. Not many days left before the snow. Great to see you 💒🙏💕😇
My guess is that the crazy moss you found looks like it is growing on perhaps a mammal stool.
Air monitor? What's wrong with your canary?
I love that you get to work with your beautiful redhead. Mine went to an office in another town, while I work from home.
Any day out of the house with your beautiful wife?? ... is a day for the win!! :) ..
"They don't look safe..." Not the words you want to hear in a mine.
Always a good day when you get to see Dan Hurd prospect lol.
Am late. Good evening from Southeast South Dakota
1 hour and way over 5.8K like already. Dang it man.
i was watchin bering sea gold and just saw bryson get fired did he go up there withpauly
It's a daddy long legs. It is an arachnid, but not a spider. 🕷️
do you take radon gas monitoring gear in as well depending on the rock type??
When we saw that long white hair fungus ,we called it don king hair
Dana: "lets go back into the open"
Dan: "thank elfin god"
Get a small remote controlled boat with a camera to explore the flooded parts
5:00 What is that??? is it mineral or is it a plant, or fungus??/
Safety Matters, still waiting to see a Bear, no Bears in New Zealand.
Thank you for sharing this with us it's very interesting six stars
I thought that said PCMR, as in PC master race lol
why would they close off the mine and collapse the tunnel?
You should take a team and dig past the cave in and see what is in the rest of the mine.
What a great video Dan. I think one of the best
Cutest red-haired couple ever!!❤ loved the explore!

What? No little cart to rude the rails on?
the electronic canary so to speak.
You should get yourself a Rokon 2x2 motorcycle... they'll go all sorts of places the quad won't and the trailer they have can easily carry your gear
They're fungi! Spiders are great, keep the fly population down.
