He used to have the same technique on both hands but had to switch to push-pull on his left because of wrist problems, he explained that a while ago. He mastered that technique so fast it makes him look even more insane.
And that is why I adore him. He is a fellow Austrian and he masters every technique that you can actually achieve. Heel-Toe, Push-Pull, Swiveling... This guy does it all!
Samus actually needs to contact David Diepold, cause they might have similar wrist issues and maybe he could provide some help!

Btw the reason he keeps his toms in such a flat angle is because it forces him to sit as straight as he can, means not hurting his back somehow (out of a Marthyn Jovanovic - analysis from one of David's playthroughs)

Flat plane drums and cymbals have the best appearance. My high hat, snare, floor tom and 1 cymbal are level. Drives the womerns wild.
Yeeaah. So many drummers understate the importance of sitting back straight. First of all.. it helps with the balance, second.. you'll stay healthy and avoid unwanted muscle & joint pains. Pls fellow drummers, sit back straight and then adjust the kit that you can play like that. It'll be all for the best.

Murat Diril actually is the creator of the Byzance line of cymbals. So they actually are the best Meinl's Samus. You know, cause you play them all the time.
I think he is also the mastermind behind Meinl‘s MB20 Series. In my opinion these are/were the best metal cymbals ever build, loud an aggressive as hell, I really love them.
@@frankseparator I didn't know that but it doesn't surprise me. That's why I skipped the middle man(Meinl) and went right to the source (Murat). I still like some of Meinl's stuff thought. Sand ride, Extra Thin Hammered stuff etc.
Yeah Murat Diril is the guy that used to work for Meinl or zildjian or that was his brother or something , I remember back in the day like 15 years ago when he started the Murat Diril brand and drummers from Portugal forums used to contact him and ask for a load of cymbals and share the postage ! I did owned one of his hithats for a period of time and they were class
As far as I can remember they were two brothers - Ibrahim and Murat. They used to work for Istanbul Cymbals before it split to Agop and Mehmet, then worked for Meinl (Byzance series) and Paiste (Twenty series) and now both of them have their own brand - Ibrahim has Diril Cymbals, and Murat has Murat Diril Cymbals.

That's the producer's dream, placing cymbals higher gets rid of a lot of the bleed coming into the tom and top snare mics, but of course the drummer is the one who has to adapt to this type of set up, although David looks very comfy regardless of cymbal hight...

Davíd has been my top drummer for about 4 years too. Have also had lessons in the DTA. He cannot be touched for sheer perfect chops. There are a handful of drummers that can play nearly as good.

Shannon really influenced me (Alan is incredible too with regards to this!!) in terms of having relaxed/perfect technique & precision despite playing extremely challenging & fast music. It's like the faster & more intense the playing, the cleaner & more calculated the drummer should be to murder the song without hurting themselves.

I'm really really seeing him here (or in general in more reactions over the past, idk, 1½ years or so), cause he's one of the most underrated Extreme Metal Drummers, and also quite a Motivation/ Inspiration to practice as well as Influence on my playing personally (e.g. his db - techniqu, left hand in blasts, his blasts on HH only Quarter notes etc), so it's so awesome seeing him getting a little more attention.

Some of the best examples of 'drums going with sweeping guitars in a fill together' that spring to mind are Necrophagist - Stabwound, and Nile - Kheftiu Asar Butchiu (the ending fills of the solo section in particular are absolutely disgusting)
