    Good info. Especially the math about S&Q @ 100Mbps vs the seemingly higher bit-rate. That said, I was really hoping to find an answer about something (that must be) far more basic, and probably everyone's first question: How do you get the camera to even allow you to record in S&Q. When many of us go into that menu, we are told "You'll need an SD card faster than v90". Technically there are not SD cards faster than v90 (unless they might be talking about their own Sony Tough Cards). What gives? How can we record the highest bit rates/depth at the highest frame rates on this camera?

      Hi, thank you for your comment! In the full review of the A6700, I also talk about the SD-card. V90 II is enough and there are multiple brands who sell them. You can watch the part about which SD-card to get here: ua-cam.com/video/ObqcZQOCeQI/v-deo.htmlsi=T1hB6moDNSnvLZa3&t=758

      @@cameradeals Thank you. But I'm not sure you're seeing the same error. I AM using a v90 card, and my a6700 still tells me to use a card faster than v90. It simply will not let me record those higher bit rates/frame rates/bit depth combinations.

      @@cscooper2000 I just noticed I never got back to you. I am sorry.
      So, It is hard to tell if the card is the problem or not. My card is the SanDisk Extreme Pro 300Mb/s U3 Class 10 V90 II and works great with it. They are pricey, but 100% guarantee it works with all fps and resolutions. :)

    UA-cam will not unveil the differences between S&Q and normal modes and not only because of compression, but I have a great idea! I have seen one pro reviewer compares not only images but waveforms in Davinci or other software. It unveils the detailed difference which is aimed more on post-production rather than on sooc image. And to nail it completely one may bring up shadows and see how it looks like (visibility and noise levels). With these 2 methods you will make obvious any differences between any camera footages. Hope you will not consider my advice annoying, I really try to contribute helpful ideas to your amazing job!

    Thanks for your video! Every day I filter out UA-cam videos in search for something new about a6700 and so find your videos. I'm hesitant between Sony a6700 and Canon R8. It seems like Sony a6700 should have better dynamic range for log video but Canon R8 is full frame which gives more space for overexposing log. Once I find a proof that a6700 has better video quality in log and other profiles I go and buy.

      Happy to hear it was of help! The A6700 vs EOS R8 video is a tough one. I did review the R8, but didn't pay attention to the video. I will be reviewing it again soon, though. I do feel the A6700 is a more video oriented camera, where the EOS R8 focuses more on photography. You are wrong about the Mbps. It is just a unit of measurement. MBps = 8xMbps It measures (in this case) how much data does camera produces per frame. In SD cards or internet, it measures how much of a data does your computer pull or push to web.

    Hello Very nice video :-) I am purchasing a Sony A6700 and I want to be able to shoot 4K 120 fps & 1080p 240 fps using the S&Q mode......to use these features is a V60 card enough to shoot in "XAVC S" format ??

    • @cameradeals
      @cameradeals  2 місяці тому

      Thank you so much! That is correct, you can use a V60 card to record both FHD 240fps and UHD 4K 120fps. If you would like to record in higher bitrates (4:2:2 - 10 bit 360Mbps 4K 30fps), then you will be needing a V90 (II) card. I'd recommend buying a V90 card anyway, so you will be good for the future as well. Else you might have to purchase it later. In the description of the video, I link to the correct V60 and V90 cards. Hope this helps. :)

      @@cameradeals Thank you so much for reply! In my country the V90 cards seem to be a lot more expensive than the US.
      On the Sony Help page titled "Memory cards that can be used", I see that under title
      "For S&Q Motion shooting (When [Proxy Recording] is set to [Off])"
      Maximum recordable bit rate when recording "XAVC S HD" is mentioned as 500 Mbps, which means that I would need a V90 card to record. However the exact minimum bit rate for shooting in 1080p/240 fps is not mentioned. This had me confused whether to get a V90 64GB card or V60 128 GB card.

      @@maddybaliga With a V60 you will be more than fine to record FHD 240fps, as I used slower cards than V60 to record 4K 120fps. Still, I'd' recommend putting in that extra money. But, you could always start with a V60 and if it doesn't go well, send it back :)

      @@cameradealsHello Cooper! Just got my A6700, its amazing 😍 Looks like I can only get 240 fps with 30 fps at 16 Mbps with a V60 card and to get 10x slower speed I need a V90 card
