Thank you! For photo, I did an ISO and noise test, which you can see at 16:17. I will release a separate video where I do the same test with video. The dynamic range of both cameras is 14 stops, but you are right, I did not test this by looking at graphs. I tested and reviewed the Canon EOS R8 as well (only written), but for me, it is not a video camera at all. It does have 4K 60fps UHD, but no IBIS. I see it more as a beginner full frame camera for photography, with some video options, which you outgrow quick because of the lack of dials and options. You can read it here: www.cameradealsonline.com/review/canon-eos-r8/
@@cameradeals Tell please your thoughts, how different is the low light performance between Sny a6700 and Canon R8? I understand that one is apsc, another is full frame and the difference should be obvious but how huge is the difference to your opinion? According to your feelings
@harry54ck I think the eos r8 low light performances on photography were quite impressive. It starts struggling with video, though. As it has a full frame sensor it does capture more light tha. The apsc a6700 sensor.
@@cameradeals you said Canon EOS R8 is struggling with video. What do you mean saying it? It struggles in terms of low light performance, overheating, what are the technical issues?
An extensive and very informative video, THANK YOU VERY MUCH. I wanted to clarify that with the latest update, my XS20 can also track subjects on video and it's great. I am in love, I recommend it without hesitation
@@MrRealtf Yes it is. I film all my UA-cam reviews with the X-S20. Tip: don't use the eye-focus, as it will start hunting. I am using the face recognition. The A6700 has better autofocus and will be great in any mode.
actually the sony has their own sony 16-55 f2.8 which is around 1k USD (amazon us) so you may actually cut off 500 and both would be 2.6k USD. if we talk about sigma 18-50mm, it would save even more cost. sd card depends on user, but definitely worth to get the higher buffer speed.
if only Sony was not sold with kit lenses in my country. that is an additional price to pay on top of that 16-55 f2.8 lense which I think is a must-have for an ASPC camera. only sony and fuji has this lense, canon r7 owners can use previous EF lense and adapter to achieve the same aperture and focal lengths.
I have the Sony A6700 and my primary usage is photography with video second. In outdoor light the it is very good, but in extremely dim light it hunts and I have taken a some photos that were blurred because it was out of focus, and I am also using the orange focusing aid light. This focusing problem also happens in my A6600. I have occasionally taken photos at ISO 100,000. The photo are acceptable.
This issue really depends on the lenses you use and the circumstances. I've used cameras like the Canon EOS R5, Nikon Z8 and Z9 and those will hunt as well at a certain point (when there is not enough light). Normally, I would recommend turning off autofocus if there is not enough light and just focus manually.
I’m a photographer and I have the Sony a6600. I’m thinking of either switching to full frame Sony A7IV or switching to the Fuji XT-5. I’m attracted to Fuji for its retro aesthetics, its film simulations and its “vintage like” color science. Should I stay Sony or go Fuji?
As we speak, I am working on my X-T5 and A7IV review, where I compare them (among Lumix GH7 and Nikon Z6 III reviews). The X-T5 is a great camera and could be a great replacement for full frame models. The A7IV is a great all-round camera, and you can never go wrong. If you lean strongly on the color science, I would recommend the Fujifilm. Also look into lenses, as full frame lenses are costly.
Which one would you pick for a first timer owner of a camera? I'll mainly be recording myself playing guitar/bass for covers and all related stuff. I hope these two doesn't overheat because when recording covers, sometimes retakes take a long time! I need my takes to be perfect so I do it again and again. In the future, I'll probably be taking photos of my friends playing in a band. I have the budget for one of these two, so I don't need to go lower tier. Though I'm leaning Fujifilm, just because of the looks lol. Again, I'm clueless about cameras.
Hi! Both of them are great for shooting video. Sony clearly has better autofocus than Fujifilm, though. Overheating will be less likely in lower resolutions, but if you’ll go for the highest bitrates in 4K, it is more likely to happen. Also check which one is in stock, as it might make the choice easier. I think the Fujifilm is easier to use for a first time owner. :)
Something additional to consider is that a6700 records video with gyro data. This means you have additional option to apply gimbal level stabilization to your video shots which is technically better than a camera's Ibis + eis combo. Often overlooked in comparison, but I do say it is a big factor to me as this feature alone keeps me from buying a gimbal just to shoot fluid and non-jittery motion.
I ended up going with the A6700. Yes, I already have Sony lenses, but not opposed to switching if it's worth it. The big reason though, is because I could get the A6700, while the X-S20 is nowhere to be found.
If the cameras were priced the same, and you could get the lenses for the same price (and quality), I'd pick the Sony A6700. I love slow motion filming and I find myself occasionally in dusty environments, so the weather sealing is important to me. I own the X-S20 as well, and I am in love with the filters. But in all honesty, I am so used to RAW-shooting and editing, that I have difficulties changing to filter shooting. In 2018, I had a fast computer built, but it doesn't keep up with the 360Mb/s files; therefore I need proxies, which is annoying. But hey, that's life (and tech). Which one has your preference?
@@cameradeals the film simulations are also the main factor from the Fuji that interests me atm… but the weather sealing and the a6700 in general is what I’m attracted the most to … so I’m gonna go for the a6700 with the sigma 18-50, which will be my first real camera, so probably more than plenty… I just hope straight out of camera pics are still pretty
@@victorbmadslund The Sigma 18-50mm is the f/2.8 Contemporary right? Good lens choice! And yes, the photos out of camera are very nice indeed! Have fun!
Been using a GX9 since around the time it was released. The current m43 bodies aren't especially attractive to me, since I want relatively small and light for travel/street type use. Recently bought an A6700. Just like the body size and style more than the Fujis. Also bought the Sigma 18-50 and 10-18 f/2.8 lenses which are remarkably small and light. So far I'm happy with my choice. But the choice certainly depends on one's priorities.
From these two in the video, I would say the X-S20 for Photography. You could also look into the new Xt50.

Many thanks, your sub is earned! Being a video guy mainly, I got the A6700 in the end. It's annoying cos the Fuji is a nicer body I think and a cooler device all round, but the Sony AF is just voodoo compared to everyone else's. It's kind of frustrating cos I do have a blackmagic recorder and could record BRAW too with Fuji, and plenty of the specs of the XS20 are just better and the image is very nice. But in the end, the main thing over the years that has cost me shots in both video and stills has been AF, and when people view your images they don't see the specs, but they do see if it's in focus or not 🤣 If only Fuji could nail the AF properly I would have gone that way...
Hi! For now I can't, since the brands send me the cameras to test (for free and without directions of what I say about it). I own the x-S20, but not the A6700.
I have the X-T50 and the X-S20 here right now, and I'm making a comparison video, which will be out soon! So you could sub in order to receive an update when it's online :)
Nicely produced video. 👏 Being stuck to 35mm, though it is my favourite focal length, is a big turn-off for me, but all that’s moot as the camera is made of unobtainium!
@@cameradeals it's fujifilm x-s20, 4k 59 fps 🥺 is this a defect or normal? I have 6 years old camera and it's never overheated... I really don't know what to do
Yes, a stop or two is good. You could always turn on the Log assist and see how it turns out. Give you a good idea how to expose in the future and in different light circumstances.
I work on raptors that soars quite high. Until now I have used P950 for its zoom. I want to upgrade to mirrorless to capture birds in flight more effectively. Any suggestions which one of these 2 would be ideal? Really love the colours and higher FPS in fuji but Sony's autofocus is to die for in my field.
Great video. Rotterdam is just so photogenic. One question: I was getting advice in a pro shop today, because I wanted to get the XS-20. He told me that for videography I should for sure take the a6700, because of the WAY better autofocus and WAAAYYY better IBIS. Can you confirm that? I was hoping that the shaky IBIS got fixed with software updates already.
The autofocus of the A6700 is better than on the X-S20, and on the X-S20 I notice it is searching for focus from time to time. I think IBIS performance is more or less the same on both cameras. Now, I am not used to using ibis or autofocus on cameras and therefore think it doesn't really matter. It is good to practice your manual focus pulling. But of course it depends what you use the camera for. If it is for vlogging, the autofocus of the A6700 is better, but the X-S20 has good AF too.
Fujifilm cameras are extremely hard to get nowadays, XS20 is out of stock or backordered literally everywhere! Availability should also be a key point for effective comparison. Now, I'm stuck whether to buy a6700 or wait for god knows how much longer to get the XS20!
I didn't know the XS20 is on backorder. It also depends where you live, and it could be completely different per country. Where I live, there are plenty. When I compared these cameras, they were in stock in the US and European countries, and I can't look into the future. So, for that point, it's still an effective comparison.
@@cameradeals Thank you for your reply. I am in US at the moment and Fuji XS20, X100VI and even the XT30 II are out of stock everywhere which makes me sad. Probably because of this unavailability I'm going to go with a6700. This is going to be first camera, so I hope I'll have a good experience.
@sneharkaporia547 I've been comparing these 2 and prices, and I don't think I've looked at any retailer where the Fuji was NOT in stock. Maybe some, but just clicking links on the first page of Google, it's in stock. I take that back. Sometimes it shows but it's "backorder" in the fine print. Still, most places it's 2-5 day shipping and I'm stock. Both cameras are currently in my cart at best buy atm
Is Fujifilm good enough for video and photo work? I'm afraid there will be a heating problem. Does it really heat up like the XT4? Because I want to use it in promotional films, events, concerts, model, product photography, etc.
Yes and no. Yes as in quality and options, no in overheating possibilities. The good thing is that you can attach the external fan, which might be a game changer.
@@cameradeals I mean, it's available for work, isn't it, because my budget is enough for it. Actually, I wanted to buy a Sony a7s2, but there is a lot of price difference between them. Xs20 doesn't disappoint in the photo and video works, does it?
@@YunusEmreSevuk I think the X-S20 can get you better video resolution results even. But the A7S-series are almost unbeatable in low-light performance. One of the reasons is because it has huge pixels, but only 12MP. So, for photography you won't get big resolutions.
there is a problem here. You're comparing image quality using good lens on one side and bad lens on the other side. I switched from Sony A7iii to Fuji X-s20. I can tell you if you want amazing colors to start with or you like filmic looks, then Fuji is no brainer, I wouldnt go any other brand. It is also affordable system with affordable lenses. The only time you wanna go Sony is if you dont care too much about colors or style and you just wanna take a picture of something and move on. Sony is a bit more reliable in terms of focus. Dont get me wrong Fuji also reliable but not the eye AF, you must use single point AF, which feels like a bit behind. Personally I am fine using single point AF and dont need eye AF for photos. So bottom line, you want affordable system with stunning colors, and a bit behind focus system, go fuji. want want reliable system, a bit more expensive, colors are okay but something is off about them, then go Sony you want decent colors, very expensive, and reliable system ? go canon.
Hi, thanks for your reaction and the review of the lens you use. I do disclaim I use a better lens on the Sony, plus the lens I use for the Fujifilm isn't bad lens. It's actually very good lens for its price, f-stop and versatility. Cheers! Also, i say I'm looking at megapixels, not picture quality.
Hi! Nowhere in this review I compare these 2 lenses to each other. The only part where I compare, is about photography and megapixels, and I clearly disclaim that it isn't a fair fight. The majority of this review is about the cameras and options itself. It were just the lenses I had available. I hope you enjoyed the rest of the review though, as I spent a lot of time making it.
@@cameradeals My advice to you is to ask for lenses from companies. Fujifilm is a very flexible company in this regard. I can even personally take cameras and lenses for review.
@@josephareyuna8858 Good question. I filmed with both and would choose the A6700 over the R8. Of course, the R8 has a full frame sensor and no crop, but way less options in film. The A6700 has the 4K 120fps option, where the R8 maxes out at 4K 60fps. Quality wise you can get a lot fromr the R8 as well, but the camera in general focusses more on photography. So it really depends. If video is your second hobby, the R8 could be perfect for you, but if you really go for film i'd still choose the A6700, as it has way more options to adjust the video settings to your perfect workflow :)
Since you haven't tested the ibis , can you do a video of the handheld stabilization of the XS20? with a non OIS lens, when walking panning vlogging and all,
Don't get either one. 6700 overheats and Xs20 has terrible AF. Even a 30 minute non stopmpodcast recording indoors will cause a6700 to overheat it's ridiculous. If you're planning to do any outdoor commercial gigs or weddings etc these cameras will cost you jobs! Don't believe the bs youtubers spew on these channels to cash in on the sponsor money.
Hi. I'm sorry to see you feel so bad about it. 1. It is good to know it costs me more time and money than I make of the channel. Which are literary a few dollars. I am making these reviews because I am passionate about them. No brand sponsors me, pays me or tells me what to say about the cameras. The sponsoring or affiliate links that you do find here, don't even make up for the money I spend on these reviews. 2. I wonder: have you actually tried both cameras for a long time? 3. These cameras are not meant for professional use, where you shoot commercials or weddings. Even then, the X-S20 would work fine as manual focus should be used. In professional work, you never use AF, always manual AF. Losing your job is on you. 4. I own the X-S20 and have used the A6700 a lot. So I know what I'm talking about with these, and other, cameras. 5. Just because you don’t like it, doesn't mean the world around you is telling bs. Not everything is a conspiracy or fake.
How can my experience with the battery be totally false? I also never mentioned the amount of exposures and mostly tested the battery with video, while your post is referring to exposures. 2000 exposures might be correct, I didn't test that and make no claims about it either.

Thank you so much! That is a very important update indeed! Thanks for sharing :)
Will it be good for a UA-cam content creation camera?
@@zaporoshti3392 sigma 18 50 now support canon rfs
Good one!
Very good and complete information!!!
Thank you very much! I hope it helped!
best VS video ever seen with this two cameras ! thank you
Glad you liked it!
Good one!
The LCD of the x-s20 has 1.84m dots vs 1.04m dots on the a6700.
You are right, sir! I must have forgotten to change the stats when I was copying the text. Well spotted!
Also pretty sure the Sony has less than a 1x magnification for the EVF (like 0.7x or smth)
1.07x
@@cameradeals yes but the 35mm equivalent is 0.71x for the a6700, the x-s20 has a 0.93x magnification or 0.62x 35mm equivalent
I ended up going with the A6700. Yes, I already have Sony lenses, but not opposed to switching if it's worth it. The big reason though, is because I could get the A6700, while the X-S20 is nowhere to be found.
Yeah, it's so weird the X-S20 is sold out everywhere. It does make the choice a bit easier though :)
There’s a reason for that. The Fuji is magical.
Super well done and extensive comparison, ty for this! Very helpful
Thank you so much! I am happy to hear it was helpful!
Thanks for the comparison. The difference in focus acquisition at 14:40 sealed the deal for me.
I am very happy to hear it helped you decide!
So what would you pick?
Have fun!
@@cameradeals yes exactly! Thank you 🙏
Been using a GX9 since around the time it was released.
@cameradeals which one is better for casual photography? Travel ?. Nothing professional ! Thanks and regards :)
But in the end, the main thing over the years that has cost me shots in both video and stills has been AF, and when people view your images they don't see the specs, but they do see if it's in focus or not 🤣
If only Fuji could nail the AF properly I would have gone that way...
Your choice and reasons make sense!
@@cameradeals It is kinda frustrating cos the Fuji has a bit more soul. If I didn't need the AF for work I'd have gone Fuji tbh .
They are making updates and putting ai into it. Lets see how all this unfolds…
van you make a handheld stabilization comparaison of these 2 camera, compare with ibis, without ibis and with gyro data and processed after thanks
Hi! For now I can't, since the brands send me the cameras to test (for free and without directions of what I say about it). I own the x-S20, but not the A6700.
if i was to consider a camera body of a similar price to these but geared more towards photography, what would you recommend?
You could look into the Fujifilm X-T50 (my review of it will be out soon! )
I am doubting between xs20 and xt50. What should I choose......

Thanks for sharing!
Hello! Thank you for the video! What about overheating? I have a problems with it? Is that a normal to overheat in 12 min in room temp 24C? :(
Aah that is too bad! With which camera? And which settings does it overheat that fast?
@@cameradeals it's fujifilm x-s20, 4k 59 fps 🥺 is this a defect or normal? I have 6 years old camera and it's never overheated... I really don't know what to do
@lumenone1698 when you film in 4k 60fps, do you turn the fan into boost mode?
Is the placed in a cage?
HI MATE, LOVE THIS TEST, WOULD YOU RECOMMEND TO OVER EXPOSE FLOG 2 LIKE WE NORMALLY DO WITH SLOG3?
Yes, a stop or two is good. You could always turn on the Log assist and see how it turns out. Give you a good idea how to expose in the future and in different light circumstances.
I work on raptors that soars quite high. Until now I have used P950 for its zoom. I want to upgrade to mirrorless to capture birds in flight more effectively. Any suggestions which one of these 2 would be ideal? Really love the colours and higher FPS in fuji but Sony's autofocus is to die for in my field.
Looking at what you need it for, I'd recommend the A6700 as the AF is just way better :)
Thank You
You are very welcome, thank you for watching!
great video!
Thanks!
Excellent video!
Thank you very much!
I think i will still choose a6700 for vlogging. Is it right decision?
Both are great for it. What are your reasons for choosing the A6700?
good fuji have shit af for video
I have Sony lenses. I’ll buy the a6700. In similar manner, Fuji users go for the Fuji.
Yeah that makes sense
The A6700 is a great camera as well. The XT50 just got released as well. Will do a review on it as soon as I get a review model ;)
@@brennanIX Just tell me one website where XS20 with 15-45 is in stock
@YunusEmreSevuk Yeah definitely! The upside of the A7sii is the fact it is full frame and might deliver better quality in low light.
@@cameradeals Yes, it is true, but can similar photo-videography works be done with Fuji?
@@YunusEmreSevuk I think the X-S20 can get you better video resolution results even. But the A7S-series are almost unbeatable in low-light performance. One of the reasons is because it has huge pixels, but only 12MP. So, for photography you won't get big resolutions.
I traded in my XS-20 w/ SIGMA 18-50 for an A6700 w/ SIGMA 18-50..
Did i make the wrong choice? My heart says yes but my brain/logic says no.
I think both cameras are great, and it really depends on why you traded them and what you want to use it for.
thanks
You are welcome!
there is a problem here.
So bottom line, you want affordable system with stunning colors, and a bit behind focus system, go fuji.
want want reliable system, a bit more expensive, colors are okay but something is off about them, then go Sony
you want decent colors, very expensive, and reliable system ?
What's the point of comparing a prime lens and a variable focal length lens?
A6700 VS CANON R8 for video?
I probably won't do that comparison 😕
@@cameradeals But based on your experience, which one is better?

The battery life info is totally false. A6700 lasts close to 2000 exposures for me.
How can my experience with the battery be totally false? I also never mentioned the amount of exposures and mostly tested the battery with video, while your post is referring to exposures. 2000 exposures might be correct, I didn't test that and make no claims about it either.
