    But one thing is I can feel my tablet port and upper side of tape being heated up is that ok ? Plz can you answer me ? And is it OK if I keep it charging on for whole night? Would it burn the tape ?

    • @HowToWithLech
      @HowToWithLech  2 місяці тому

      You sure just that part is not warmer. Tape itself would not get hot. Electrical tape is what make la it safe. Maybee tape is too deep in. Should be fine

  • @Amasterlivestreams
    @Amasterlivestreams 3 роки тому

    I see videos that say use the electric tape method on the side with the screen but can I put it on the charger it self? because I don't feel comfortable with putting it in the charging port it self.

    • @HowToWithLech
      @HowToWithLech  3 роки тому +1

      It will be just fine, but if you don’t feel comfortable try that way. Will probably move after some use. Check my updated video I posted recently. , showed all this in more detail.

    • @HowToWithLech

      no, your not changing the way it connects. your just make it a snugger fit.

  • @Bikewithlove
    @Bikewithlove 4 роки тому +256

    There are two metal tangs inside the port - one on each side - that correspond to the divets on the side edges of the lightning connector. The tangs should stick out a bit into the port so that they grab onto the connector. That’s what ‘clicks’ when you plug it in - not the ‘bottom’ or whatever.
    Over time, those metal tangs get bent inward until they can’t grab the connector anymore, so even though the port’s clean the connector won’t stay put and it’ll just fall out unless you have it lying flat & you’re not moving it around.
    My guess is that to fix it you’d need a very small steel hook-shaped needle to slip under each sunken metal tang and carefully pull and ‘stretch’ them back out into the port so that they’ll grab on to the connector.

      How the hell do you do that.

    • @user-pm8hs6xv5p
      @user-pm8hs6xv5p 3 роки тому +14

      Correct, but I think they are spring loaded and the spring wears out. I had this same problem so I used some rubbing alcohol to clean out the port and toothpicks/small flathead screw driver to try and pry them out a bit. Didnt get them all the way out to where they should be, but enough that the plug stays in and charges.

    • @windoene
      @windoene 3 роки тому +2

      @@user-pm8hs6xv5p I have the same problem too. How'd you fix it?

    • @user-pm8hs6xv5p
      @user-pm8hs6xv5p 3 роки тому +8

      denees Rubbing alcohol and a qtip. Then use maybe a toothpick or something small and scrape out the inside the charging port. It gets lint/dirt built up inside and the plug doesnt go all the way into place and is lose and wont fully charge/charge at all.

    Thanks bro! Worked surprisingly well!!! 💯💯💯❤️🙏🏽. For anybody wondering, any tape will work fine. But preferably use clear scotch tape and keep using until your charger port fits nice and tight on your charger port. Then it should charge after a couple of pieces of tape. Like 5-7 should work fine. Thanks to this beautiful smart man I went from no charge at all on my phone to charging in seconds!

    I tried cleaning with a paper clip and it didn't work, but then a used a needle and also, inspired by your tape method, I used the paper clip to put some tape in there, removing a lot of dirty every time a took it out. The result was amazing, I had forgotten that the charger was supposed to click when plugged. Now it works like the first day, like there was nothing wrong it, thank you. 🙏🏽

      Trust me. Its not loose. You just need to clean the port. Its just full of accumulated dusts and micro debris inside the port that the charger cannot be inserted deeper. Thats why you get the feeling of the chrger not snapping or not able to lock. Once you get rid of the dusts it will snap/lock back again like brand new. Search for “how to clean lightning port” here in youtube. Be careful not to accidentally remove the pins that connects to charger.

    guys, if this doesnt work for you, try using toothpicks but scratch it hard, i tried first with toothpicks but almost nothing came out and it still didnt charge anything. also it was not normal for a phone i have been using for 7 years to have 0 dust inside so i tried scratching it hard(just be careful to not damage the pins, and also just in case turn off the phone) and realized there were some soft spots when scratching inside so i kept going and then blocks of dust were coming out. took me like 30 toothpicks to clean it and theres still some inside but i couldnt get them out, but 100% now my phone always charges, no exceptions. btw, the issues i had before were: 1. it kept just stopping the charge when moved like showed in the video which i lived with that for like a year until 2. suddenly it didnt want to charge, not even changing a whole cable, but sometimes if i pressed extremely super hard the usb to the port it reacted for a sec but nothing more. so in my case it was just super hard blocks of dusts that didnt want to come out so scratching hard helped me to break them in much more little pieces to get them out. hope this helps someone :)

    Thank you so much, took a second but I got it to work. Also, do not use a paperclip to clean out the inside of the charger port. I watched numerous videos and they all said it can damage your phone. Great video overall!

      @@PetesMerrin hi. sorry never had an issues with my iphones overheating. i seen they get too hot out in the sun, and it actually tells you to cool it off. it wont work. but you wont get any fire from doing this. using electrical tape so its safe in that sense. and make sure phone is off if you plan the clean the inside of the port out with a metal prong. use a wooden toothpick instead for example to get the lint out etc. thanks

      Tape overlaps outside. Easy to take off. Or just like you would remove the lint. With a toothpick etc.

    I was having a bad connection and mine was very very loose and it’s a iPhone 8 that I’ve only had for a year and all I had to do was take a toothpick and clean all the dust out which there was a shit ton and I never realized that’s what it could be been dealing with this for months😂

    This won’t affect the charging port it won’t catch on fire or anything when being plugged in?

    • @HowToWithLech
      @HowToWithLech  2 місяці тому

      Nope. It’s electrical tape. And you’re not putting it on the connection side. Worst it will just block the charging if installed on wrong side.

    Thanks man works fine for me, phone was off for few days, I think using toothpick or metal hook will damage or move out the pins in the charging port best way to clean by using dust remover

  • @joncamp9126

    I tried this after cleaning the port many times and it definitely didn’t work. I tried something after that did. One thing I don’t like about the iPhone is the pins in the charging port and the charging cable. They seem to tarnish easy. What worked for me is buy some contact cleaner, absolutely make sure the phone is off first. I sprayed contact cleaner in the port and then I use the bobby pin to scrape the pins free of tarnish. Most people like myself use a toothpick or a floss pic, and that’s great for lint but I don’t think it’s good for scraping off tarnish from the pins. I was having a lot of trouble with this phone and I finally figured it out. Just thought I’d put that out there for other people if they were as frustrated as I was. I like your tip though It was the only thing that was addressing the problem other than getting the lint out of the phone. If you do this with the phone on it’s probably a sure way to damage the phone. I would make sure it’s totally dry before turning back on. Fortunately contact cleaner drys fast and is meant for stuff like this. Good luck, I feel your pain!
